We're All Mad Here (part 5) New
18th July 2013

I watch as the Global Peace Operatives begin throwing abandoned cars into the Dolmen Gate carried by two of their number. Given their strength they're having to carefully grip the frame through the outer panelling, but accuracy doesn't appear to be a problem.

A face masked Peace Agent with a clipboard stands next to the gate, making notes as the cars go.

I spent time clearing the corpses and the roads after we first expunged the Anti-Life, but there are still a lot of wrecks along the sides of roads throughout… Everywhere, basically. But pick them up and throw them through the Gate, where the Gate at the other end leads to a nanoforge, and you get fast recycling and road clearance. And all the components get turned into useful materials. It's not something I'd thought much about, but it turns out that if all you're making is undifferentiated blocks of a single element the nanoforge is a lot faster than making something complicated. I hadn't realised it was literally 'throw a car in and blocks come out the bottom' fast, but, good for Leonard and Serling.

And yes, they're venting the heat from their nanotech in exactly the way that Dr. Cochin described, so I can detect them. Which could be convenient.

All these people willing to have their memories erased…

Wait-.

"Tuppence?"

Oh, sugar. If she's-. No, she looks around as she hears her name.

"Whut?"

I initially missed her because she's wearing the same colours as the Operatives, but she doesn't have the signature Mohican. At the moment she's holding up one side of the Dolmen Gate.

"You still remember your name, or did you-?"

"Ah ain't joinin', Pawl. But hey, this ain't so different from smashin' urp ships."

The Peace Agent makes another note as a… Car, comes flying in and falls through the Gate. "We do organize assets other than members. That is one of the Global Peace Agency's purposes."

"Ah… Is your process compatible with metahumans?"

"Oh, yes."

She scowl at him. "Still ain't joinin'. Mah memories maight be shitty, but they're maihn."

"Good, I was worried. And I'm happy that you're finding a productive outlet for your abilities."

The Peace Agent nods. "That is your choice, of course. Five degrees right."

The team holding the Gate shift it slightly, just in time to catch the new… Car.

"Hey, Pawl? Every one a' these guys really had their brains dun?"

"So they tell me. And-" Empathic vision-. Ugh. "-as far as I can see, they're telling the truth."

There's barely anything there. Any formative memories are gone, stripped of emotional significance and suppressed to the point where they may as well not be there. I'm… Reasonably confident that they're still there somewhere, encoded into the structures of their brains. But they're not really doing anything. And…

Oh. I get it. They need an A.I. telling them what to do because… They've been stripped of everything that could motivate them. They must be… Rather suggestible. Which…

Someone or something would have been giving Mr. Blank instructions. Otherwise he'd just have gone along with what we said because he.. wouldn't have an attachment to anything that would make him behave one way or another. So… Did the A.I. not know about us, or..?

Speculative.

"C'n ya'll..?" I blink, and refocus my attention on Tuppence, who appears to be tensing her muscles so as to prevent herself from squirming awkwardly.

"Tuppence? Whatever it is, I'm happy to help."

"Jus… Make sure ah still remember who ah am tomorrow."

The Peace Agent next to me shakes his head. "We aren't desperate enough to forcibly recruit people who are voluntarily working for us. That makes no sense."

"But if it puts your mind at ease then I will check up on you at the end of the day."

"… Thanks."

Alright, Hub City doesn't need me right at this moment. Mr. Sage hasn't resurfaced, and Mr. Tetch is proving surprisingly capable of keeping his head down. And if the League's used their new super dictator powers for evil then I haven't heard about it.

How many assets are there, exactly?

Global scan for those parallel universe heat sink connections.

Compliance.

And there they are, all across the world. In just about every country. How did he..? Find them all? I… Suppose that finding them by power ring would be.. possible, if the user knew exactly what they were looking for.

So… Next step. Do I open a portal to Earth -14? After what happened last time President Luthor might just have someone blocking it… No, we've still got Dame Carol. They'd probably be on the lookout, but I doubt that they'd have a planetary barrier in place. And if they do, it's not like I can't fly to Mars and open the portal there. I should see if the two surviving O.M.A.C.s want any messages sent through… Or if they just want to go back themselves.

I'm not exactly excited to be-.

Incoming telephone call.

Oh. Ah, answer.

"Orange Lantern here. Go ahead."

"Ah, hey."

"Kai. What can I do for you?"

"Ah. Huh, didn't think you'd-. Ah, I was talking to some of the other guys who were in the Justifiers. Some people we know have gone missing. I don't know for sure if they just left or if something happened to them, but as far as I can tell they didn't tell anyone where they were going, so it looks suspicious."

"Alright. Is there a reason why those people might not want to come to the attention of the police? Because it seems to me that they'd be the best people to talk to about that."

"Being a Justifier ain't something you boast about."

"I wasn't aware of there being any sort of reprisal attack against-."

"Nah nah nah. Which is weird, because of all the stuff we did."

"Yes, but you joined the Alliance of the Just because you wanted to do some good. None of you knew about the alien god possessing the one organising it. You can't blame people for getting mind controlled. Even the Justice League has been mind controlled before."

"Thanks, man. Ah, the ones who went missing were in the Gotham chapter with me. I don't know if it's anything-. I mean, yeah, maybe it's just a regular missing person, but I figured that you'd want to know… And you could probably investigate faster than Gordon's G-… People."

"Alright, I can spare the time. Are you at home?"

"Yeah."

"Then I will be with you shortly."

I guess they're recruiting people with compatible powers.

And there they are, all across the world. In just about every country. How did he..? Find them all? I… Suppose that finding them by power ring would be.. possible, if the user knew exactly what they were looking for

He could have scanned used empathic sight for people that were afraid about civilization collapsing and offered them the OMAC deal.

"Ah. Huh, didn't think you'd-. Ah, I was talking to some of the other guys who were in the Justifiers. Some people we know have gone missing. I don't know for sure if they just left or if something happened to them, but as far as I can tell they didn't tell anyone where they were going, so it looks suspicious

Maybe they chose to become OMACs to both atone and forget what happened.

"Being a Justifiers ain't something you boast about."

"I wasn't aware of there being any sort of reprisal attack against

I think it was mentioned that some of them were attacked, but can't remember where.

Even the League have been mind controlled before."

"has been"

And you could probably investigate faster than Gordan's G-… People."

Crap.

My guess is that someone's going to go too far with this whole global initiative and that'll be the Watsonian explanation for country borders to remain the same and other status quo things. It's somewhat odd that the Renegade who's widely seen in-universe as less moral is progressing more than main-line Paul.

Could someone give me a quick reminder who Kai is? I normally would do the research myself, but with a name that short I expect ill have significant trouble.

Also, I do enjoy a good subversion of a genre, in this case post apocalyptic. Seeing the world recover, inch by inch, is nice.

They were probably kidnapped and made into Peace Agents.

Which really should be Orange Lanterns immediate suspicion.

Or Batman just came to them and offered to make them into OMACs and they accepted it without telling anyone because they were desperate to forget and make up for that time they were foot soldiers for an evil god.
It's the Justifiers guys, the easily suggestible, people with no personalities, who follow orders and listen to a single voice of authority are the former Justifiers. Zoat isn't being very subtle about this.

Yep.

I'm honestly now wondering if maybe they also agreed to become OMACs because they just got used to being mindless foot soldiers for someone that's taking over the planet.

People that have left one abusive relationship can unfortunately fall into another one.

For that matter, this is also where Tetch got off to. Batman recruited him and is using his mind control tech on the blanks.

This is what Paul gets for forgetting he's in a comics adjacent universe. He's forgotten about the law of Conservation of Narrative.

How mundane. Still, it's the use you'd expect super-strong peacekeepers to good at, clearing debris and wreckage. Wonder if people will question their hairstyle? Assuming any normal folks are around to see this.

Useful! Though I would imagine at some point, they'd want to sort the various materials in each block, unless the forge is doing that already.

And yes, they're venting the heat from their nanotech in exactly the way that Dr. Cochin described, so I can detect them. Which could be convenient.

All these people willing to have their memories erased…
Given the events of the Anti-Life, perhaps some of them consider that a bonus.

Wait-.

"Tuppence?"

Oh, sugar. If she's-. No, she looks around as she hears her name.
😨 Ack! Please don't tell me she's signed on. I mean, this might be local for her and every strong arm they can get helps.

"Whut?"

I initially missed her because she's wearing the same colours as the Operatives, but she doesn't have the signature Mohican. At the moment she's holding up one side of the Dolmen Gate.
Phew! That's a good thing, Especially the haircut. I'm guessing that snazzy outfit is going to be a standard thing for GPA operatives, OMACs or not.

"You still remember you name, or did you-?"

"Ah ain't joinin', Pawl. But hey, this ain't so different from smashin' urp ships."
And certainly more useful right now.

The Peace Agent makes another note as a… Car, comes flying in and falls through the Gate. "We do organize assets other than members. That is one of the Global Peace Agency's purposes."

"Ah… Is your process compatible with metahumans?"
Worried someone you know might decide to undergo the process? That would be a bit shocking, given what it involves...

"Oh, yes."

She scowl at him. "Still ain't joinin'. Mah memories maight be shitty, but they're maihn."
Hey, he was worried for you. I understand the annoyance of having a big brother figure getting up in your business like this, but there's no need to be snippy... 😏

"Good, I was worried. And I'm happy that you're finding a productive outlet for your abilities."

The Peace Agent nods. "That is your choice, of course. Five degrees right."
Not everyone is itching to get their personality erased, even temporarily, in order to gain superpowers or become a super-cop...

The team holding the Gate shift it slightly, just in time to catch the new… Car.

"Hey, Pawl? Every one a' these guys really had their brains dun?"
I wonder how visually similar the OMACs are, or if you can pick out individuals.

And…
Just like Buddy, then. It must look horrible to someone as Enlightened as OL or Guy. OR worse, Doctor Mist...

Oh.

So… Did the A.I. not know about us, or..?
...Well, that isn't worryingly familiar or anything.

Speculative.

"C'n ya'll..?" I blink, and refocus my attention on Tuppence, who appears to be tensing her muscles so as to prevent herself from squirming awkwardly.
I wouldn't be surprised if Tuppence wasn't a little worried about all this too. Albeit for different reasons.

"Tuppence? Whatever it is, I'm happy to help."

"Jus… Make sure ah still remember who ah am tomorrow."
I mean, they probably don't draft people in. 😒 Not yet, anyway.

The Peace Agent next to me shakes his head. "We aren't desperate enough to forcibly recruit people who are voluntarily working for us. That makes no sense."

"But if it puts your mind at ease then I will check up on you at the end of the day."

"… Thanks."
Well, good of him to put her mind at ease. And if something does happen to her, more reason for him to fight this.

If it's anything like the original OMAC plotline circa Infinite Crisis, hundreds of thousands...

Global scan for those parallel universe heat sink connections.

Compliance.

And there they are, all across the world. In just about every country. How did he..? Find them all? I… Suppose that finding them by power ring would be.. possible, if the user knew exactly what they were looking for.
Oh, clever writing trick there. Hide the real number from us to prevent audience min-maxing... But it's clearly enough to be worrying. That's a lot of potential sleeper agents.

Though there's a good chance they'd just get yanked back under the control of whatever system managed them before.

I'm not exactly excited to be-.

Incoming telephone call.

Oh. Ah, answer.
Oh, who's this now?

"Orange Lantern here. Go ahead."

"Ah, hey."

"Kai. What can I do for you?"
Ah, the former Justifier OL found in a Hatter hideout while he was looking for Anarky. Good to see he can get in touch.

"Ah. Huh, didn't think you'd-. Ah, I was talking to some of the other guys who were in the Justifiers. Some people we know have gone missing. I don't know for sure if they just left or if something happened to them, but as far as I can tell they didn't tell anyone where they were going, so it looks suspicious."
...Ah, looks like there's a potential source of the OMAC recruits. It wouldn't even be that different, bar the superpowers, and working for good guys now.

"Alright. Is there a reason why those people might not want to come to the attention of the police? Because it seems to me that they'd be the best people to talk to about that."

"Being a Justifiers ain't something you boast about."
He has a point. It might not be a well-known thing, but to communities that saw a lot of it, it'd be like announcing 'I did bad crimes' in a town hall.

"I wasn't aware of there being any sort of reprisal attack against-."

"Nah nah nah. Which is weird, because of all the stuff we did."
Probably something about the White Light blast making everyone go 'It's not worth holding a grudge.'

"Yes, but you joined the Alliance of the Just because you wanted to do some good. None of you knew about the alien god possessing the one organising it. You can't blame people for getting mind controlled. Even the League have been mind controlled before."

"Thanks, man. Ah, the ones who went missing were in the Gotham chapter with me. I don't know if it's anything-. I mean, yeah, maybe it's just a regular missing person, but I figured that you'd want to know… And you could probably investigate faster than Gordan's G-… People."
...Was he about to say 'Gang'? Makes sense, the GCPD had to work like that back then, right?

"Alright, I can spare the time. Are you at home?"

"Yeah."

"Then I will be with you shortly."
Ah, OL. Getting bogged down in sidejobs again. Then again, this may provide some useful clue...

I really do get the feeling Batman canvassed former Justifiers for a lot of his OMAC recruits. That might explain why they were so eager to abandon their previous identities. And if Kai had been locked up for long enough, he might have missed that call. Still, it's a pretty extreme response to remembering bad stuff. At least they're doing good... I hope?

I wonder if this would be a but less creepy if the personality locking away was demonstrated as being temporary? On the other hand, then it would be a parallel to how Nabu operated.

Every single one wouldn't have accepted without telling anyone about it.
Assuming they had anyone left that was close to them after Anti-Life.

Also assuming that they'd want to talk to anyone close to them after Anti-Life.

And Batman has a tool that can let him see the emotions of others and he's also a very good investigator.

It would have probably been child's play for him to find people who cared more about becoming OMACs than calling their parents.

Wonder if people will question their hairstyle

I'm wondering why they have that type of hair.

Maybe it functions as some kind of antenna, or because mohawks are associated with tough people, it's there to show people that the one that has it is tough.

Probably something about the White Light blast making everyone go 'It's not worth holding a grudge.'

I don't think the effect lasts that long.

Was he about to say 'Gang'? Makes sense, the GCPD had to work like that back then, right?
Huh.

When he mentioned it I thought he was going to talk about Glorious Godfrey.

Lots of arrows and flags pointing in one unsettling direction... But the last time I remember we saw warning signs this clear, Ahri'ahn turned out to be Gamemnae trying to empower Atlantis via Delight.

Of course, sometimes the duck is indeed a duck.

My word.

Oh, he's.. disintegrated. What a shame.

"Everyone else to the escape pods, please."

"Sure thing!"
/ "On my way." / "Early lunch!"
What a shame indeed.
And he's smiling. Okay! That's… That's weird.
Because he has a strange smile or because he doesn't smile much? Probably the latter, but it would be funnier if it was both.
And… That's a… Terminal. A standard terminal with some fairly fat cables stretching from it to openings in the floor around it. Unusually, the screen doesn't show lines of text but rather A red face with red horns and brown hair in a bun.
Link doesn't work.
It's be so easy to feel bad if the Controller hadn't made sure I knew what sort of people they are.
I'm not perfectly sure this is grammatically correct. "It'd" instead of "It's" perhaps?
-it's still only a positron, which is about as small as matter gets before it gets weird. It's not releasing that much energy.
Still an anti-matter particle though. Wonder how much energy he's tanking there.
He walks over and presses some buttons. "I noticed. Frustrating… Writ-wrangler."
"The Writ is our sacred text. A Writ-wrangler is someone who takes part of it out of context to justify doing something idiotic like shoot up a productive space station as part of a weapons test when there are perfectly-"
So most religious people who don't properly study their sacred texts?
This attack is highly lethal to unprotected conductive material, like people. If you're prepared and not very unlucky, you'll probably be okay if not for the fact-
I assume she's speaking comparatively? People aren't really that conductive, quite the opposite really.
"Wild."

A brilliant burst of plasma explodes in the air above us!

"Weasel?"
Is she saying "Weasel" to herself? Also, I looked up the procedure and I'm still not sure how it relates to the code words she's using for her suit. She's baiting the Scarab into revealing its position and then tracking them?
Keep looking around-. "Krillik? You dead?"
Not exactly a good way to check if someone is dead.
Into Krillik, but it should have lost almost all of its power. He releases her, grabs her blade arms and shoves them out of his shoulders as.. the scarab armour starts to fall off. Yeah, we can't-. Vacuum exposure will kill her even if the injuries might now. And yeah, it's one of the people we came here to save.
Needs an "e".
The lift bangs against the edges of the shaft because ARGOS can't fit far enough into the topside opening to lower me down directly.
I believe there's a word missing here, possibly "lift"?
He's also not very impressed about his 'daughter' having used the communication channel he gave her for emergencies to hack his brain.

"That's ARGOS! Hey! Emergency override-!"

"THAT WILL NOT WORK. I HAVE UPDATED MY COMMUNICATION PROTOCOLS. YOU ARE IN TROUBLE."

"Eep!"
Hah, Robo-dad
"Nah. Right now, I've got a unique value set. If everyone else gets out and you liquidate Calculator, I'm the best brain to run this problem child of a Vault and turn it into a cash cow. And I like Vaults. Grew up in one, like I said."
This most definitely will not backfire
Looks like mass low power fire can cause problems for Effigies, or at least cause them pain.
I think some words got jumbled up here?
The "tink" repeats. Might be intentional but I'm not sure.
"That makes no sense. I am a policing management A.I.. Her function is to enable romantic relationships between humans, a vital activity due to the collapse the population after the communist Chinese nuclear attack. Neither of our functions are enhanced by that sort of… I don't even know how I'd do that."
Neither do any of us, buddy.
"She is considerably better at interpersonal relationships than I am. I was designed to enforce the law, not govern a state. Her program allows her to perform a wide variety of tasks so long as they create novel romantic scenarios. I… Admire that about her."
Yay, robot love.
I walk towards on of the C-22s. "WARDEN?"
Is his name supposed to be capitalised? I checked the wiki and his name doesn't seem to be an acronym.
"Yes. I usually use the opposite, but they're quite efficacious." I smile at her. "I know that finding out that-."
Nightmare catchers?
Activate target designator. Open channel to vertibird air wing. Lock on to the lead cars, anti-air trucks and significant concentrations of armed men.

"Targets received, missiles away."

I watch as Thunderbird frowns at the sudden increase in illumination. And then I smile as Helios fires a giant burning beam down from orbit, completely obliterating him, his car, and most of the Eighties leadership! Missiles begin slamming into cars a moment later, fuel detonating, fragments of destroyed vehicle scything through anyone nearby!
So he just glassed an entire faction? Damn.
"Get outta here, psyker. Stop wasting my time."
Needs an additional "t"
I remember the conversation well, because he then paid me a rare compliment. He commended my wisdom in crafting Diana as a babe, rather than as a maiden. Honesty compelled me to tell him that not making her a babe never crossed my mind, which caused him to smile roguishly and exclaim that I made the decision by wise and well-honed instinct.
Trying out the old Paul charm on the MILF eh?
I remember it well, because I was there when the knife-marks, which repeat every few inches, were made
Needs commas, I think.
Amazon erotica is.. generating a rather large part of our foreign currency income at the moment, and I'm not sure if it's due to the quality or the novelty.
I'm not sure if it's just her way of saying things, but shouldn't it be "Amazonian"?
He nods. "Yes? That sounds really useful. You'd never have to worry about causing an internal injury by mistake. And if you were sparring-."
Hah, he's thinking like Paul.
"No, he knew. He took it as a personal insult. I would say that we have a worse relationship than the one he has with Amazons who are not his daughters."
Should be "daughters" I think.
Yes. Guy received a traumatic head injury which resulted in unsettling personality changes sometimes.
Back when he was a shapeshifter?
Works fine for me. Anyone else?
Still doesn't work.
Hah, that's ironic as hell considering my country was a British colony. Yes, I'm aware it doesn't narrow it down in the slightest
The rest of what? If you mean the planet's population, they died.
The rest of the dozen who didn't die. As in the ten people aside from Mumm-Ra and Mumm-Rana. Probably should've clarified that, my bad
Yes. If you gain a certain level of power as a demon, you start rhyming.
Amazing, so I assume the demon overlords thought rhyming every time was silly and decided to stop?
If only he could sell all threats to Controllers. Although that would be a boring plot.
Paul Freeman, the one who ended up on Nazi Earth. Naturally, they took his ring and haven't given it back.
Incredible naming sense that lad. I don't think I remember this one. What did he end up trading with Jevek, if anything at all?
No. Moving yourself rapidly with telekinesis is actually really hard.
Ah I see, thank you for your wisdom that you gained from your practical experiences with telekinesis.
Those lose to knives.
Technically they lose to slow moving objects, so if he decided that surviving the ants was more important than getting out of the swarm, for the moment anyways, he could set it not allow anything through and bunker down. Of course he would run out of air soon, but for the moment it could work.
The SI can see other emotions in people.
That would imply objects have emotions that he can't see, but what I asking why the Lord Protector could only see fear when the Paragon can see all emotions in people. I doubt there's something that special about the Orange Light that allows him to see every emotion in people whilst the other emotions don't. Apologies for the long winded argument.

In the episode where they went to Hell it was mentioned that Lucifer got annoyed by the rhyming fad that existed in Hell so when he left he placed a curse on the place that would see any demon that rose above a certain level of power to rhyme until they increased their power.

In the comics Licifer said that Hell tended to adopt certain styles and trends from time to time.

At certain points demons tended to speak in rhymes while other times they took on animal forms.

I think it's because Paul's soul is made of emotional spectrum energy instead of being a regular soul like the others have.

Ah, so only the middle-class demons get fucked. Nice.

Interesting. This probably makes the most sense so far, considering we haven't seen any other Pauls have as strong of a relationship with their Embodiments as the Paragon does with the Ophidian.

Thank you, corrected.
Discounting that thing with one of the Furies?
Remind me?

I'm giving this a like in advance of reading it, because I'm sure there's at least one correct correction in there somewhere.
Because he has a strange smile or because he doesn't smile much? Probably the latter, but it would be funnier if it was both.
Neither. Mister van Wyck isn't used to getting positive reactions from people.
Works fine for me. Anyone else?

I'm not perfectly sure this is grammatically correct. "It'd" instead of "It's" perhaps?
There it is.
So most religious people who don't properly study their sacred texts?
No, not studying the sacred text is fine as long as you don't then use the sacred text as if it supports you actions. That just annoys people who actually did read it.
Is she saying "Weasel" to herself? Also, I looked up the procedure and I'm still not sure how it relates to the code words she's using for her suit. She's baiting the Scarab into revealing its position and then tracking them?
She's saying it into the squad's communication network. They're taking it in turns to bait the scarab into focusing on them by deliberately revealing their position and then hiding.
Not exactly a good way to check if someone is dead.

Thank you, corrected.
I believe there's a word missing here, possibly "lift"?
No, that's correct. The bangings are causing him pain.
I think some words got jumbled up here?
No. Lots of weak ranged attacks.
The "tink" repeats. Might be intentional but I'm not sure.
It bounced. The first 'tink' was louder.
Is his name supposed to be capitalised? I checked the wiki and his name doesn't seem to be an acronym.
It's capitalised. I suppose you're supposed to shout it?
So he just glassed an entire faction? Damn.
No, there's nothing like enough heat to glass anything, and it's only their leadership plus a large section of their army. Maybe a thousand or two out of a nation of maybe a hundred thousand.
Needs an additional "t"
Thank you, corrected.
Trying out the old Paul charm on the MILF eh?
No, it's a Greek thing.
Needs commas, I think.
I'm not sure if it's just her way of saying things, but shouldn't it be "Amazonian"?
I think it's okay.
Should be "daughters" I think.
As far as anyone knows, Hippolyta is Ares' only daughter amongst the Amazons.
Back when he was a shapeshifter?
No, well before that. In fact, I think becoming a shapeshifter is the canonical reason why he recovered.
Still works for me.

Link?
Hah, that's ironic as hell considering my country was a British colony. Yes, I'm aware it doesn't narrow it down in the slightest
*Considers the Guess Who board of countries.*

So... Not Chile?
The rest of the dozen who didn't die. As in the ten people aside from Mumm-Ra and Mumm-Rana. Probably should've clarified that, my bad.
They eventually went out into the universe and did their own thing. Several tried to remake humans and in doing so created beastmen. A few tried other things. Several got hunted down by Mumm-Ra.
Amazing, so I assume the demon overlords thought rhyming every time was silly and decided to stop?
Perhaps they use it in the same way that Ork Nobz use size. If one of your boyz is growing bigger than the rest, he's thinking that he should be the boss and you might want to do something about that.
Incredible naming sense that lad. I don't think I remember this one. What did he end up trading with Jevek, if anything at all?
Nothing, but Jevek appreciated his position and fronted him a few things.
Ah I see, thank you for your wisdom that you gained from your practical experiences with telekinesis.
I shall be a wise and merciful telekinetic god-king.
Because his meditation left him a bit fixated. He probably could see more if he learned the skill.

Edit: Wait, those images work fine while I'm editing this, but don't display when I save it? What?

Okay, sorry, I've got no idea why that isn't displaying properly or how to fix it.

Or Batman just came to them and offered to make them into OMACs and they accepted it without telling anyone because they were desperate to forget and make up for that time they were foot soldiers for an evil god.

And Batman has a tool that can let him see the emotions of others and he's also a very good investigator.

this is what i thought was going on. something along the lines of, "i see the constant fear/whatever in you, i can offer you an opportunity to never feel that again, forget anything you might have done as a Justifier, and begin to meaningfully contribute to the rebuilding of our society"

No. Dr. 'Paragon' Cochin has the ability to copy abilities from everyone around him. He can't copy a power ring but he does copy some aspects of the SI's thought processes.

What would happen if he tried to copy OL for too long? Would Cochin's mind eventually become permanently altered and allow him to achieve his own version of orange enlightenment?

They were probably kidnapped and made into Peace Agents.

Which really should be Orange Lanterns immediate suspicion.

You might be right, but remember that this is GOTHAM we're talking about here. There's lots of ways to get kidnapped and killed in that place, and the Peace Agents aren't the only suspects.

Also, we saw a few episodes ago that there's people who still hate the ex-Justifiers enough to want to hunt them down, so there's that too.

Interesting. This probably makes the most sense so far, considering we haven't seen any other Pauls have as strong of a relationship with their Embodiments as the Paragon does with the Ophidian.

Which is pretty odd, because considering how power-hungry Tangseid is, you'd expect him to have at least tried to contact the Ophidian to gain more power.

Which begs the question: Did he?

Maybe, if he figured out how to think like that himself.

He does have Larfleeze's battery.

However, I doubt that he'd try to merge with the Ophidian.

Yeah, it would give him a lot of power, but he runs the risk of potentially getting eaten by it or losing control of himself.

Lots of arrows and flags pointing in one unsettling direction... But the last time I remember we saw warning signs this clear, Ahri'ahn turned out to be Gamemnae trying to empower Atlantis via Delight.

Of course, sometimes the duck is indeed a duck.
Which means it's probably just something like Boss Smiley controlling the Madd Hatter controlling Batman controlling the Peace Agents.
