Aren't they called Conflict Engine 0-20. They're semi sentient machines. They don't have emotions.
In fanon it's only Simurgh that almost displays emotions, but her "siblings" are definitely dumb bots.
Canonically only Sion is emulating emotions, that's why he's depressed. All other Shards and EB's are cold machines.
I'm not a Worm expert though.

I suppose the main reason why Campione is such a shit series is because the MC is such a shit character. Like, you have power, but you don't know how to use it, you have authority, but you give it to others to wield over yourself, you have urges, but you let them rule over you, you are a pushover, despite being a king... MC is just a pig to be handled.
