It is indeed from scratch. Starting a story by telling everyone to go read a quest would not go over very well. But it's also my wanting to make some changes. Like Alex, supposed childhood friend, only showing up after Y1 in the quest. That never made much sense.

Any thoughts on coming back to Thy Old Black Magic someday? I think there's potential in an out of context character in a professorial position to be really interesting and I've only seen it done a couple other times.

To be clear, in both cases there was explicit backing from the top - I appealed one of the SB infractions all the way up to the Admins, and some of the SV ones were from co-owner Ford Prefect himself. And, well, purging one's own forum of dissidents isn't against the law, so "report them to the FBI!" would not have worked.
