Buuut... If you're offering (with all the hardware included) I would go with:

And a floater for one future Fromsoft/Soulsborne masterpiece. I don't want to have to pick between DS2 and 3

I was having trouble deciding what fromsoft game to pick but that is definitely a way to do. I can respect a man that knows what they want.

I'm putting Apex legends in my empty slot. After a long time of playing only strategy games, it's really nice to play something like this.
 
This is hard, but if had to chose off the top of my head, it would be:
Elden Ring
Cyberpunk 2077
Fallout New Vegas
Red Dead Redemption 2
And it's a toss up between the Sims 3 or Stardew Valley for the last slot. Fallout New Vegas by itself has about 2000 hours spread over Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. Most of those hours on the my dead Xbox, but there is no way I can say I won't ever play again.

That's over 80 days of play time inside a fictional world. Also, one ( or two) of these entries is not like the other... but the other 4 I always have installed. I thought about fighting games like Super Smash Bros Ultimate or Ultra Street Fighter 4, but unless I play in person, I usually drop them. Online fighting games has come a long way, but shit talking your friends is half the fun in fighting games for me. Half of my play time in Rdr2 was from the Red Dead Online version, but it was literally only because you can twirl handgun like Ocelot from the Metal Gear Series.

Speaking of, I would put the Metal Gear Solid collection, but those 3 games were the first time I ever completed a game 100%. Love the story, the action, and especially the scenes, but it playing it isn't fun as much as I remembered. But the MGS series played a huge fact into my love for gaming, so I couldn't at least give an honorable mention.

The Witcher 3 (assuming Gwent is included) or either a numbers go up = better kinda game like "Heroes of Hammerwatch" or "Geometry Arena".
For anything more i'd have to do more research and wait 2 more decades to see what has been released in the mean time.
And anyway with a million I'd first be busy with the money, properly managing it and planning vacations e.g skiing in the winter, surfing in the summer. At first there wont be much time or interest in games I think.
Even if you take the million and buy US bonds or something on 4.5% interest thats 45k a year, with minimal effort. In the same way I like simple investments, I also enjoy a casino site with fast payouts since it keeps things straightforward—no long waits, just quick access when you want it.

Witcher 3 is another reliable choice, especially considering all the add-ons and Gwent; it's a game you can immerse yourself in for hundreds of hours without feeling repetitive.

Hum, hard to say, I could see a number of fun games that I'd want to play, and picking any 1 to play above others is sometimes difficult. Picking up just 5 to play for the rest of time?

Ugh, well...

1) Satisfactory - The factory must grow... but I also love the fact resource-nodes are infinite, otherwise, this would be replaced by Factorio.
2) Terraria - I like the battles and the option to expand to multiple worlds and return with resources to primary 'Hub world'. It was either this or Minecraft, and I just enjoy the options here. Honorable mention to Starbound for similar reasons.
3) Skyrim - I liked playing Oblivion a lot, and I enjoyed the good old Morrowind before that, so I'm an Elder Scrolls fan, so this world has its appeal. Never really got into their MMO game though. Still, Skyrim draws me back, from time to time.
4) Rimworld - I like building things up, and toying around with setting up my base and watching after my colonists. I should note that Norland is interesting too, but I have not played it myself, but it would be an option here, just would need to see it finished, first.
5) Graveyard Keeper - Combination of humor, some automation through Zombie-labor, a bit of mystical hints of immortality, and an amusing fantasy world, yeah this is an interesting game to toy around with. Thing is, its the least 'secure' option on this list, I have a lot of other games on mind that could replace it. Some of them pretty lewd and that would push them towards replacing this, but I think that in interest of having fun for longer time and not just following the naughty lure, this with its humor might well bring me back to try again another time. Also, considered Stardew Valley here too, but that is a game I've played so much I think it requires a good break, every now and then, and with limited selection? Yeah, not quite there.

Not a great list, more what I think right now would make for an entertaining selection for longer term, but I figure I'd regret one or two in due time, others, well, they're good as long as you can take a break in between returning to them.

If mods are still very much an option, it certainly helps, as I think three of those have a good amount of Mods, I have never looked for Satisfactory mods but I figure some might exist out there.

While that is true, yet Witcher 4 is pending for 2027. Depending on how it will turn out can you get as many hours of play time out of it as Witcher 3?
Same as Skyrim if you count mods it too is reliable I've friends on Steam with 1700h in both these games.

The longer I think about this, the more restrictive the 1M$ seem being limited to 5 games only.
As would board games count as well like Chess / DnD / Wh-40k? Where as some board game choices are supported on PC e.g. 'CATAN' settlers as is 'terraforming mars'.

Elin. This game is stupid. Absolutely stupid. I can't stop playing it. It's a game I always return to when bored or when reading an Isekai thread that makes me go "eh, I could do better" and then I get knocked out by a giant fairy and eaten by a walking, talking toilet monster. It is "Isekai the RPG" on crack.

Kenshi. You are random NPC#64 with stats to match. Everything you do is earned, either through constant effort or exploiting the game however you can. 9 times out of 10 you're going to get your arm ripped off, eaten alive by screaming monsters, your skin peeled off by robots or enslaved. But that final time where everything just clicks? Ha-ha. Fun time.

Stellaris. My favourite 4X game. You ever wanted to play the Reapers from Mass Effect and make other species "end because you demand it?" - this is closest thing you'll ever get to that. It was either this or Age of Wonders 4. This barely beats it and only because I'm sucker for space stuff.

Dead by Daylight. I hate this game. I hate this fucking game. I still play it at least three times a week because of one big reason that my stupid monkey brain likes: It's just a big game of fucking tag mixed with hide and seek. I don't know why it speaks to that part of my brain - but it isn't just me. Some people have over 9000 hours.

Tale of Immortal. It was either this or Amazing Cultivation Simulator. You ever read one of those Cultivation novels/manga/threads/etc/etc and gone "damn, I wish there was a game like that" and....yeah. This is it, or as close to it as you're going to get. It has all the cliché, all the themes and all the powers. Get the jade beauties, slap some faces and ching cheng hanji.

Lol considering my age 5 games is a good deal, I rarely game anymore.

that said. considering lack of support for games these days as seen with Battlefield where you pretty much lose the multiplayer game after a while because they want you to move on..

I am basing this entirely on Singleplayer games, and only on singular versions. It changes if its the entire franchise that becomes available.

and here I am again, with an already slightly (important word a little, heh) modified list.

1. Warno is still in place, although I have been playing it very little. But I'm glad that I recently got together with the team (even though there were only half of them), at least for a couple of games.

2. Victoria 3. Well, the paradox game, you can play them endlessly, especially considering that it is being updated.

3. Krita, because I'm learning to draw on graphics tablets again, and I've drawn a couple of works for the author (it's like it's considered a game in discord, but okay?).

4-5. and that's really it. Broken arrow didn't pay off much, and it has a lot of problems, and anyway I don't have a laptop for such an un-optimized game.
 
Rimworld, if Steam Workshop is there, and I can download DLC.
Vassal Engine with all the modules if I want to be Grognardy
Jagged Alliance 2 1.13 mod (and potentially all the good mods down there) when I want to nerd out on small unit combat.
Actually I don't think I need 5 games.
