Yes, Orichalcum is a thing in DC. And in With this Ring, it's a thing, being a magic metamaterial derived from gold, alongside mithril being a silver equivalent(and a crazy superconductor called Jovium). Work was underway to try and figure out a method to mass produce them but then Anti-Life hit.
While New Genesis could probably produce Orichalcum, I'd kinda doubt it because they've got access to better stuff. They mainly make their technology out of something called Element X, and the gold color might mean it's an alloy of Element X or they could be using Eighth Metal for bulk material(a lesser supermaterial two steps removed from Element X(and one step from Nth Metal) that Earth Gods make their best shit out of).

"Yes. But they're Luddite isolationists with a Kryptonian space age planetary defence system. Visiting would be… Awkward. And the only daxamite woman I even slightly know is Lantern Yat's mother, and… She doesn't like aliens. And she's married. And she sent a giant monster after me."

Took me a good moment, but yes, eye girl. I always thought it was peculiar that her mother felt avarice at the thought of killing her male coreligionists rather than seeking their deaths because she hated them (I'm sure she hated them too, of course).

I resent that Paul implies that this answer is not taking it seriously. If you're a mildly interesting superhero you have to take your roses with their thorns, buddy.
Pretty good in-universe explanation. Certainly easier than saying they're palette swaps from kryptonite to lead, of all things. Does that mean that 16-Daxamites also get weakened by kryptonite alongside their traditional weaknesses?

Does that apply only to green kryptonite, or do Daxamites get different effects from different kinds of kryptonite like Kryptonians do?
Because if it's the latter, it would be hilarious if someone took one of the more mutagenic variants and use it to mutate the Daxam government into hideous alien monstrosities to give them some much-deserved karma.

Since the daxamites left krypton well before it exploded, they've never been exposed to kryptonite. As such, no one knows.
