The thing is, gold is also incredibly soft. It got its reputation as the material used for fancy ornamentation largely because there wasn't anything else it was really able to be used for.
So I'd suspect that if Supertown's buildings are actually Made Out Of Gold (as opposed to just looking like it - is orichalcum a thing in DC?), there's a New God technomagical reason behind it.
Yes, Orichalcum is a thing in DC. And in With this Ring, it's a thing, being a magic metamaterial derived from gold, alongside mithril being a silver equivalent(and a crazy superconductor called Jovium). Work was underway to try and figure out a method to mass produce them but then Anti-Life hit.It could be some exotic alloy of gold, such as electrum or some variant of the fictional Orichalcum. The latter also has mystical associations... Who knows when you get started with Kirbytech like that?
It got taken off the air in Britian because someone flew a plane into a building, and... That happens a lot in this program. It was a cartoon called Roswell Conspiracies: Aliens, Myths and Legends - sadly more obscure than it deserves to be, circa 1999-ish, if I remember correctly . . .?
Thank you, corrected.
'has'?"I believe that his true colour is green, sir. I don't suppose that the Giant's Causeway actually have any significance, does it?"
This is website is one such adult sites! If Percival is doing what I think he's doing, then that would just be awkward. Or possibly something for certain adult sites.
Thank you, corrected.
"AAAAHHH! I'm making too much money!"
Somewhat. Destroyed a few ships, and he's the reason why the Superman-analogue who's name escapes me survived.Nice to see this version of Paul again, and that he's got a date.
How involved was he in the fight against the Shadoen?
Percival made it.Did Roswell Paul create his lantern himself, did Percival do it or did he get it from vanishing point?
I see. Thank you.Somewhat. Destroyed a few ships, and he's the reason why the Superman-analogue who's name escapes me survived.
Are you annoyed at us for not saying anything?"I wasn't sure if it was that or you were just really autistic!"
"I think someone would have spotted it if I was that bad by now."
You've got Lanterns our age?" I look at him, raising my left eyebrow. "I mean, other than you?"
She's not even our youngest recruit. Her adopted daxamite brother is about five years younger
Though it could be said that a giant monster sent her after you.How about Zatanna?"
"No, she's never sent a giant monster after me."
Can someone jog my memory on this one? I don't remember Oh El visiting Daxam except in the vaguest way."Yes. But they're Luddite isolationists with a Kryptonian space age planetary defence system. Visiting would be… Awkward. And the only daxamite woman I even slightly know is Lantern Yat's mother, and… She doesn't like aliens. And she's married. And she sent a giant monster after me."
Took me a good moment, but yes, eye girl. I always thought it was peculiar that her mother felt avarice at the thought of killing her male coreligionists rather than seeking their deaths because she hated them (I'm sure she hated them too, of course)."Lantern Taranna is about our age. I can put in a good word. Zatanna's single… I think."
"You've got Lanterns our age?" I look at him, raising my left eyebrow. "I mean, other than you?"
'as'We jog through the jungle towards the source of the moan, fronds whipping past at we burst into the clearing containing the primitive's village-.
And the open air sanatorium it's become.
No doubt considering the very important of dating Catwoman. Concerns like 'Will she like me that way?', 'Can I keep up with her in the field?', 'Would she wear the suit if I asked?' and 'Can I even match up to Batman in her mind?' Admittedly, that last one is a high bar.23rd July 2013
08:47 GMT
I push a frond out of the way as we march through the forest towards the last place I saw a Primitive settlement.
…
"Are you alright? You haven't said anything."
Nothing beats some good exercise, especially if things get heated on the way."I was just… Thinking. Wasn't she..? Dating Batman?"
"Yes. Ah. She might want you to chase her over the rooftops a few times in lieu of a more conventional date-."
A few nights of animal passion and possibly some pelvic damage, maybe."How..? How old is she?"
Hm. "What's a polite way of saying 'don't worry, she's not interested in a long term relationship'?"
That last detail is not in any contention. I don't think there's a single person on Earth who would complain about that."I don't think there is one. But… Going back to how old she is..?"
"I don't think you're supposed to ask a woman that. Older than you, certainly. She's pretty hot, though."
Hard not to notice the blush, after all."… Yeah… That… Wasn't really what I was thinking about."
"You..? Weren't thinking about how hot the woman with the big breasts in the skin tight leather is?"
"I kinda am now. How about-. Girls our age?"
Boy, it's gonna be awkward when his real age comes out."Lantern Taranna is about our age. I can put in a good word. Zatanna's single… I think."
"You've got Lanterns our age?" I look at him, raising my left eyebrow. "I mean, other than you?"
Because not recruiting him would leave him in a bad place, and open the risk of other Corps poaching him."She's not even our youngest recruit. Her adopted daxamite brother is about five years younger."
"Why would you recruit someone that young?"
A flying brick always comes in handy, after all."He needed to get off his homeworld quickly and he had the right mindset. We're not sending him out to fight the Reach, but he's still doing a lot of good work in the reconstruction arm of N.E.M.O.. And between his power ring and his own toughness, he's more resilient than most things he's likely to bump into."
That's actually a reasonable explanation for their lead 'allergy'."How tough is he?"
"Daxamites are basically mildly mutated kryptonians. They absorb a wider variety of wavelengths but get hurt by materials with a high attenuation coefficient as a result. So, very tough."
So, that would be a no. A very emphatic no, at that."Does Superman know about them?"
"Yes. But they're Luddite isolationists with a Kryptonian space age planetary defence system. Visiting would be… Awkward. And the only daxamite woman I even slightly know is Lantern Yat's mother, and… She doesn't like aliens. And she's married. And she sent a giant monster after me."
To the point where other responses might feel a bit out-of-place, really."No, I… I wasn't thinking about it like that."
"I get that response from some women."
...Eh, she did take advantage of a giant monster attack, though. Remember the Dragon?"How about Zatanna?"
"No, she's never sent a giant monster after me."
Bit of a step up from a bow and arrow, for sure."Do you think I've got a shot?"
"You have many shots. Your weapons are powered by energy drawn from a bleed torsion generator and stored in ultra-high density capacitors."
Well, finally. Man, how few guy friends does he have that it took that long to work that out..."With Zatanna?"
"No, of course not." He splutters. "Zatanna is a young woman, not a gun. She has neither a ray emitter nor any sort of projectile delivery system-."
He stops. "You're taking the piss!"
I mean, some folks with that issue can learn to do social interaction stuff reasonably well.I snigger quietly. "Of course I'm taking the piss, genius."
"A-HAH!" He grins as he starts walking again. "I wasn't sure if it was that or you were just really autistic!"
Besides, if it were directed into using a Power RIng, it'd be hard to notice."I think someone would have spotted it if I was that bad by now."
"Yeah, I guess." He smiles broadly inside his helmet. "So, do I?"
...I wouldn't call it dating. Also, you'd have to work around her father."I don't know. My personal relationship with Zatanna is somewhat complicated, but you're a reasonably attractive and heroically inclined young man and I'd say that you've got as good a chance as anyone."
"Oh? Did you two date?"
Although it got pretty clear after she zapped you with Violet Light-fuelled magic and abducted you from a fight."No, we fake-dated while we were plotting against Nabu. And she wanted to date but I thought that would be taking advantage inappropriately, and afterwards she got a bit obsessive for a while, but.. she got over it and we're perfectly happy as friends now."
Almost certainly. I mean, I missed that that wasn't what was happening the first time, so I could be completely wrong.
I'd still be concerned with backsliding, but she's generally safe?
Yeah, you never stick your dick in crazy, especially underage crazy, and you never let your buddy take that chance either."Is that a red flag, or..?"
I consider answering 'only to cowards', but I think I should take this more seriously.
Oh, I don't think you fully get it, bud. It's a lot more than 'Lantern in really low-cut top'..."She was using the Star Sapphire. I don't know if you-."
"I was there when Green Lantern talked to Green Arrow about Carol Ferris going crazy. I know exactly what it can make someone do."
Well, if you wanna take the chance... I mean, Zatanna, man, she's... Well."It wasn't quite that bad, but-. We got rid of it. Sent it back to Zamaron. She's fully recovered."
"I dunno, dude. That still sounds like a red flag."
When would that ever be a sticking point for a Lantern?I shrug. "No red flags with Taranna. She's a delightful person."
"But she lives on the other side of the galaxy."
Probably a good idea to get to know her at a distance first..."I could offer her additional tuition. Earth has actually decayed to the point where I could justify bringing a support Lantern or two to help with things."
"Maybe I could just..? Call her first?"
I nod. "I'll get her number once we get back to Earth. Oh, ah, her species is fairly standard humanoid, but she's got cybernetic eyes."
Honestly surprised the NEMO techs couldn't develop more natural-looking prosthetics."Like..?" He makes a curving gesture over his eye orbits.
"No, no, regular size. But they're very obviously not-"
That's either trouble, or one heck of a party ahead.
Trouble it is!We jog through the jungle towards the source of the moan, fronds whipping past at we burst into the clearing containing the primitive's village-.
And the open air sanatorium it's become.
Wait, he's not autistic? That was my head-canon for the longest time!
Thanks for the Chapter!
His recruitment starts at the end of this chapter. Can someone jog my memory on this one? I don't remember Oh El visiting Daxam except in the vaguest way.
I resent that Paul implies that this answer is not taking it seriously. If you're a mildly interesting superhero you have to take your roses with their thorns, buddy.I consider answering 'only to cowards', but I think I should take this more seriously.
Pretty good in-universe explanation. Certainly easier than saying they're palette swaps from kryptonite to lead, of all things. Does that mean that 16-Daxamites also get weakened by kryptonite alongside their traditional weaknesses?"Daxamites are basically mildly mutated kryptonians. They absorb a wider variety of wavelengths but get hurt by materials with a high attenuation coefficient as a result. So, very tough."
Thank you, corrected.
That would depend on kryptonite's attenuation coefficient, and since kryptonite is a radiation source I imagine that it actually gives them a mild boost.Pretty good in-universe explanation. I thought it sounded wrong, but I wasn't sure what the correct phrase would be. Thank you.this is Arsenal, the former Red Arrow, right? isn't he also American? perhaps a different phrase, "you're fucking with me", etc
Thank you, corrected.

I see what you did there. If you're a mildly interesting superhero you have to take your roses with their thorns, buddy.
Since the daxamites left krypton well before it exploded, they've never been exposed to kryptonite. As such, no one knows.Does that apply only to green kryptonite, or do Daxamites get different effects from different kinds of kryptonite like Kryptonians do?
Because if it's the latter, it would be hilarious if someone took one of the more mutagenic variants and use it to mutate the Daxam government into hideous alien monstrosities to give them some much-deserved karma.
