Honestly, the biggest issue is that no one is going to hire him period.
Why bother hiring infantry at all its not even going to be worth the transportation costs.

Ehhh... No? He could just start off as a security guard company, pretty sure people would hire them over a guy with an assault mech to guard the insides of say, a museum or office building in the middle of a big city crowded city full of narrow streets.
It also says hes just not using mechs? Theres plenty of other stuff he could field like power armor, tanks, aircraft, ships, ect.

There are canonical armor specialist mercenaries, ASF specialist mercenaries and special forces specialist mercenaries. Not only successful, but even famous. So MC don't even have to show that, he just need to repeat that success.

Quite bluntly no one is stupid enough to waste money on an unproven infantry whose background is some guy made a drunken bet.
