On a Pale Horse (Umamusume/Youjo Senki)

I like the nickname of the 'Silver Gate
The Pale Horse from Beoynd Tume and Space. She is the Key and the Silver Gate.
Well, if her owner is in debt or has money problems, Shirogane the horse would just be very disappointed in them if they ever mentioned some bad money decision when near her
"I can't play gacha anymore."

"Wife cut you off?"

"My horse bites me every time she hear the FGO gacha rolling sound"

Ended up finishing the quick appreciation sketch I did earlier. As always, cleaning up line art was a pain. The shoes were surprisingly tricky to get right, I hope they look big without looking weird.

Very nice! Shiro looks so done with everything, so El Condor Pasa probably did something silly nearby again, or Taiki Shuttle.

As for the shoes, they kinda look like they're steel toed? Which is...well is that how horse shoes work in uma world? Either way Shirogane actually does have a few pairs of shoes now that she's got enough money she can't really justify taping/gluing her old ones.

Though unless everyone chips in, it'll probably be more of a snack than a meal.
Umas got that shonen hero stomach, even their snacks are big

White daughter getto. She can join pink daughter. I am sure she will love it.

Very nice! My only critique of the boots is that uma heels are typically a bit higher than that because they run on the front of their foot.

And we haven't even introduced Shirogane's Triple Tiara rivals yet!
I looked up the 1998 Triple Tiara lineup. The poor pace setters all have names that set them up for bad jokes. London Bridge falls down and never returns, Egao o Misete is shown a slasher smile, and Shonan Happiness gets her happiness crushed by someone from the largest city in Shonan.

Damn. Tell us how you really feel.

Very nice! It's rather funny how Shirogane is the one thinking about what she's going to do after she runs her career as a racer, when she has the capacity to run for far longer than pretty much all of her competitors if she desired to. She might get along with Ines Fujin since they both did deliveries, though Shirogane is an only child so didn't have younger siblings to take care of (just dumb young kids of her parents' friends)

I like to imagine that Shirogane's win poses look perfectly calm and reasonable to the point even she doesn't notice her desires but if you look carefully in the non-G1 victories she's tapping her foot eager for another race and in her G1 victory pose her tail is wagging back and forth.

hate to be 'that guy'
...but can you separate the translation text into groups that correlate with the frames? For ease of reading.

Fixed it. I opted not to go for a direct translation in the sequence that you would read everything, but rather just how the text in the narration would read in one go. For the speech, I put them in quotation marks. Let me know if that's any easier to read. Honestly I wish I could tag the translations directly onto the image itself like on danbooru, but I'm pretty certain there's no way to do that. The closest I could get is spoilering a translated version.

I took a while to get the translation right, partly because I would have had to fit the english version sideways or super minimized to fit it into the same textbox and reading that would have been a pain, and partly because having the text be differently sized and colored just looks nice. The annoying part was figuring out where I could split the text because Japanese doesn't use any spaces and I can't read it so I have no idea of where to split the sentences and still have everything make sense.

The grey bit on the bottom would be the cleats that Umamusume have on the bottoms of their shoes. You can actually see them in game, though most of the time fan artists seem to omit them unless you can see the bottom of the shoe.

Shirogane taping her shoes also seems like a really funny thing for no reason at all to me. I imagine that her parents would find her doing it one day and get a little exasperated.

"Shiro dear, the customers are going to think we aren't treating you properly."

"Mother, it's cost effective and environmentally friendly. I'm merely maximizing the use--"

"Shirogane Suzuki."

"Y-yes?"

"Stop mumbling and look at me. We are going to buy you some new shoes."

"Yes mother."

"I refuse to let you go to Tracen looking like a wandering vagrant, people are going to wonder if you're homeless."

"Yes mother..."

Gotta let your juniors know that racing is nice, but retiring rich and healthy is even better. Maybe in real life Shiro would make for a track or lead pony like Fenomeno, guiding horses into the starting gates and leading the younger colts and fillies on training runs in the fields, the only difference being that for some reason she manages to get draft horses following her too. The size difference would look rather comical.

Am I just a pervert, or does the kanji on Shirogane's mom's face look a bit like sideways boobs?

Considering it's the kanji for mother, Freud is giving you the devious side eye. :sneaky: Joking aside, I guess that's the nature of a pictograph, to depict imagery associated with it's meaning.

She would be like Haru Urara in that regard. No visible difference in reaction after winning or losing the race during the cutscene that happens immediately after you cross the post.
