    ya... a lot of it is borrowed from Chinese microdramas, which borrowed from a female-genre writer back fifteen years ago, who borrowed inspiration from shojo seinen manga and jdramas of the 00's and early kdramas...

    They have a term for this genre, 追妻火葬场, "chasing your dead wife to the crematorium", but this is from a Sichuan writer who was popular in the 80's and 90's named Qiong Yao, a mistress who got rid of the original wife and married into a wealthy family, also a TV writer, she's famous for "You might have lost your life, but he lost his love!" type dramas
