Ninja have physical transformations. Would a normal person have a spiritual avatar? So someone with dark Chi who doesn't have demon blood would have a demonic totem or Susasno?

There's the faceless. Originally monks that discovered the spring of immortality. They have trained themselves over the past couple hundred years to guard and protect it. They made a deal with first the empire and then the shogun to share the immortality in return for autonomy and a binding oath to help protect the springs.

They have to wear special covering that is soaked in the springs, literally suffocating in the water constantly and if they don't they'll turn to dust. Some of the most powerful beings in the setting with the crippling weakness that if the cloth their covered in is severed and the water leaks out, they'll die.

Their real power though is in their spy network which literally had hundred of years to build moles, hide outs, favors, and assets. So entrenched certain networks are, they existed before entire cities were founded.

And the perfect mix of dogmatic and arrogant. Their entire thing is their terrified of death and want to continue using the spring as long as possible, so they consider any threat to the capital city as an existential one.

And it will definitely be not fantasy Japan. Don't want to have to deal with any pesky real life historical figures. And every chi user will have a spiritual form, its just the more trained and more experience you are the more defined and solid that spiritual figure is.

Oh? There could be religious issue with Ninja not having a spiritual form and instead a physical demonic monster form. Even the darkest of Chi users projects a soul. Is a ninja but tainted blood and flesh some might ask

For Chi power level, I am not getting a natural disaster vibe.

But for the nobles and the shogun, having ninja who's loyalty is guaranteed and are powerful chi user to boot, means that they'll never get rid of them. But since they have to at least pay lip service to various religious groups they parade the slave contracts as proof they have them under control, making the more arbitrary and restrictive to appease them and causing tensions within the Ninja's clans

There must have been moments where a unworthy lord pissed off the Ninja clans and they found the dogs from hell would rip out their fucking throat and rape their wives and daughters and sons if they fucked around and found out. And lords who just take pride in being loved by their Ninja pets.

Like I said Ninja are like big dogs, treat them right and they'll be more loyal than anything in this world. Mistreat them and they'll bite your nuts off when your not looking.

how could the dark vs trying to think of what would fit a bright or pure style of Chi that isn't as simple as good style divide feature in politics?

And would the Dark Chi masters use Ninjas as a argument for making it less tabbo as clearly the nobles are fine with demonic arts

With dark and light chi, a lot of it is centered around what is consider negative versus positive emotions, but the issue with that devised is yes too much anger or lust or any emotion can be a bad thing, but at the same time righteous anger for a cause you believe in and lust you have for you wife can't be bad.

A lot of light chi users block themselves from certain emotions and experiences since their so afraid of feeling what they think are negative emotions.

I like lust for wife being a good one. It's a interesting perspective. So light Chi is bleached chi. Emotionally cleansed Chi

Emotional neutral chi, basically pure determination and nothing else. A lot of light chi sects go through great care to absolve themselves on any emotion when using chi.
