I like. My inspiraiton for the two Chi fighting styles was pro wrestling and beast mode characters like Broly and Hollow Ichigo vs proper martial artists

I was thinking the difference between eastern and western martial arts, but that works too.

I was thinking more boxing. But speaking of anime powers, Sumo's slaming into each other in deomn form like two giant bears would be so cool.

My mental image was of full use of the body for counter and attack. Not unskilled but focusing on striking and grappling with the expectation of getting hit vs a Kung Fu dual of parry and attack.

How was your day at work

Pretty decent, did a bunch of random little things. A ceiling fan was broken, the fan switch chain had ripped out of the mechinism, so I had to open the fan up and fiddle with some wires to get a new one in. Then I hung cork boards, pictures, fixed a window screen, and fixed an outlet that had gotten loose.

Just another day of maintiance work, bunch of random stuff breaking you would never think of.

I am writing a high fantasy shonen work with the idea of posessing spirits instead of Ki for what powers the sorcery martial arts.

Oh, nice. So some of the idea's for my story with the ninja milf are probably helping you out.

How do the spirits work? Are they sentient and make deal with humans like in Chainsaw Man? Are they just forces of nature you summon with a ritual?

A tad. The idea is people make pacts with ancient elemental titans who are dead but their spirits remain and there are four paths for Earth, Fire, air, water/ice/winter with the four having extra themes besides the main element put in.

Does the pact have any impact on their bodies or personalities? Or is it the opposite, where your personality type dictates what type of path you take?

There's this idea to tap into greater levels of power for the possessing spirits that are being channeled the Scion who has through their spirit binding ritual inherited the essence of that titan of the Broken Thrones must act out the wildness of the mythological figure. Dressing up in masks and clothing and armor representing the patron god gives more magic Kung Fu but also more influence from the spirit's passions

The pact can cause them to act out the passions of the God they are channeling. Extreme emotion ridden behavior when they are channeling the God.

That's pretty cool. Maybe different sects have differnt ritualistic dances and plays where they reinact different histroical epic's of various gods and mythological figures to enhances a students connection.
