Have you ever seen Hellraiser? I was thinking about taking a relativly normal setting, RWBY, Worm, Ectera, and seeing how they would respond to the insanity of it. But less focus on evil demons in gimp suits and more about the slow seduction into one of them. Show the box corrupting and changing formally wholesome relationships into something dark.

Although dark doesn't mean a lack of love. What makes the cenobites interesting, atleast the ones made by Clive Barker and not the later interpretations and remakes, is that the cenobites genuinely want to share their gift. But actually one of the big idea's I had for it, is that the main characters have no clue about the cenboites and none of them show up for a long time, so there's this big debate with themselves about how real and supernatural this whole thing actually is. Get really psychological with it.

That actually ties in with another setting I was thinking the box could work well in.
