The Riders are the most interesting aspect of the books. Palaoni made Dragons with loyalty, personality, and pride. The elves were interesting with transhuman aspects and other parts of the setting were weird such as Sorcery through spirits or the prevalence of telepathic combat

I actually really liked the Dark Tower series by Steven king even if I do think it dragged way too long. Plus some of his more fantasy or lovecraft orientated stuff like From a Buick Eight or Salems lot. Something he doesn't get enough credit for is taking relatively normal characters and by shoving them into fantastical experience's using that to explore the characters believes and motivations.

Well, another series in I liked as a kid was the Spiderwick chronicles, which is about this family moving into an old house that used to be owned by their deceased great uncle and in that house is a book that is basically his life's work into the secrets of this magic world he stumbled on to and an evil monster is trying to get that book to conquer the world.

Lots of fun idea's and concepts that where directly stolen from games most kids play with. Stuff like if you leave this protective circle the monster will get you and wouldn't you know the house is covered by a protective circle and was why the monster couldn't get the book before. just lots of fun idea's like that.

I would love to do a fantasy setting with the same premise of a mundane family struggling with some kind of issue, moving into an abandoned house owned by a distant relative, who in the process of discovering the secrets of their family they discover a magical world with wonders but lots of danger as well.

Not a big fan of prophecies to be honest, but with fae their weak against iron right? It coud be said human cities are made entirely of iron these days? it could be intresting to see how some fae wanted to stay secluded from humanity out of fear at while they'll do, while other fae either out of curiosity of their world or having ambitions outside of their isolated groves wants to reveal themselves to humans.

My idea is you have the standard chosen one promised prince. Than the MC is the brother. Given some power but not a lot and envious of the destiny promised his sibling. Cue a dark witch offering them black magic and a dark fae army
