Questionable Questing

I like the Iron cities bit

Could be a funny twist. Make the first novel in the series called the Iron City with the fae all living in supreme fear of it and their being this big build up of some secret lost city, only to reveal in the end that its humans they where so scared of.

Interesting. For the Evil Dark Fae, there is no grand goal. They live for themselves and their hunts and pleasures. Doing as they will

Plot wise, what you want to grab from Spider Wick and Narnia and other things?
Edmond and Anakin sound like good inspirations

Playing with the family trusting and relying on the MC while he in a complicated emotional tangle betrays and corrupts them

Here when your back to talk this Spiderwick inspired idea more. You ever read Fablehaven? Reserve of magical creatures and gods that a bunch of kids inherit and have to keep watch over.

Sorry I had to go to the grocery store and buy some aluminum foil. Lol, one of the most random cooking tool's you never think about untill you really need it.

I've never heard of Fablehaven, but I have heard of the comic and game Fable. i actually like that one a lot. It was a pretty cool implication of old school fairy tales in the modern day.

But speaking of narnia one of the reasons the kid originally betreys his siblings to the white witch is because he was the borning one. he was the middle child, he wasn't cure or beautiful like his sisters. he was brave and strong like his older brother.
Andy333
Andy333
He was a little chubby. He was awkward and shy, and he liked sweets and chess. he just didn't fit in with the rest of them. I kind of like the idea of playing with that isolation and how its pushing that kid further into the fae's arms.

As for isolation, I think a evil protag would be fun as it opens the fetish vaults but the complex bit would be having the evil protag who becames the wicked dark prince still love his family even as he makes new friends and tries to keep them safe while also destroying and remaking them. Mixed feelings.

Fablehave sounds really cool, i was reading the tropes page but had to stop myself because i didn't want to get spoliered.

It actually ties in with my idea in that the fae live in giant warded off forests that they can freely control and manipulate into their own hidden castles and little worlds. There incredibly powerful inside them, almost god like with being able to freely manipulate them to their imagination.
Andy333
Andy333
Their big weakness is that all their power is inside the forest and if they ever leave it, they'll be greatly weaked along with their aforementioned weakness to iron.

They live in fantasy land and want to spread fantasy land out. So, our evil protag grows up with a Other fae godmother, groomed into the role of a new dark lord of the Fae given the task of ruining his brother and sister's destiny of being the great heroes or you got another idea
Andy333
Andy333
I'm thinking either the forests are becoming weaker or the isolation the fae are practicing are weaking them because the lack of enemies or obstacles is inflating their ego and reducing their creativity. So you have the reformist fae that want to go out of their forest and rest who are terrified of that, and somehow this new dark lord is going to have something to do with that raging argument.

What shall Fae be based on?
Andy333
Andy333
Old school inhuman, petty, yet honorable fae. Look kind of like faires, but just sort of subtly off. A little symmetrical and beautiful that it flips around into something uncanny. Maybe different colors and has flowers and different plants growing out of them.

I wouldn't limit the Fae to just plants. Stars, fire, let me get a picture for Dark Fae Lord
