While I do like western themes, I'm not sure if I want to do desert wasteland. I was actually thinking mining city, with a focus on the early days of Los Vagas. In case you didn't know, it used to be a sleepy boarder town that was only significant because it was near a few important railroad tracks, but then the construction of the Hoover Dam started.

And with it came a huge influx of young man who were making pretty good wages, and they came into town on the weekends to drink and get laid like many other oil and mining towns end up servicing. The big difference is that with Hoover employed tens of thousands of people, and the mafia quickly took notice of what was going on and was able to set up Bar's and casino's and the rest was history.

So my thinking is a dreary mining colony run by your stereotypical evil company, except over time a huge entertainment and gampling complex has slowly taken over a built itself into one of the largest tourist destinations in the sector, clashing with the improvised former inhabitants of the colony and a huge underground criminal element fighting for control with the weak company owned government.

Our heroine has been disturbed by repeating visions and dreams from the ruins she found but when her son is going to die from a cybernetic pit fight gone wrong, she rushes him and a blood sacrifice to the temple to open the gateway a little.

A entertainment industry our heroine can take over. A milf dark hero able to seduce and slut without giving up love to her son or anybody else special

She's a nurse for a local trauma team, unable to afford the specialized training need to get the certifications she needs to have a comfy life and instead stuck barely making ends meet in a increasingly stressed and under equipped team dealing with some of the poorest regions of the city. An old man that had tried to kill himself by setting his house on fire only to be saved by our Heroine. And before the burns finally kill him, he hands her this weird looking box and begs her to destroy it like he failed to do.

And I'm thinking I can combine the original box idea with your ancient ruins, because I'm a sucker for that stuff one of my favorite parts of alien was when they were exploring the temple, is that the box is still a key to another world. Or rather its a combination of map, ritual, and key to the various ruins and eventually to opening the broken gates inside them.

And by the end of it she discovers a small workshop/ sex dungeon where he was researching the cube.

I'm definitely keeping the social media demon buddy, that's a really fun idea that's actually very underutilized for how surrounded we are by social media now. And with the secret templar, I'm thinking a local church that services the slums that our Heroine works in and the two meet on occasion, slowly turning into a pretty close friendship despite their two different world views.

Shit, you know I could keep the lesbian subplot with Panam and Judy too. Panam being a local small time gangster after she turned away from her nomad group, which are a bunch of scavengers that survive away from the cities on the planet through smuggling and scavenging the alien ruins. While Judy had dreams to be a performer, but is stuck doing petty crime to survive.

All of them needing a mother and goddess to give them salvation and dreams and home.
