I'm into mass effect, but the problem I have with it and a lot of other Sci Fi stories, like Cyberpunk and even Star Wars, is that there's so many moving factions, groups, and characters it can get kind of hard to tell a story separate from any of the main plots.

Well, I saw a writing prompt idea where someone is given a magical notebook that makes whatever changes you want happen, like a reality editor, and someone had the idea of an alien with a fetish for Shepard basically making a porn setting with humans as the leader of a xenophobic slaver empire.

And as stupid as that sounds, as a writing challenge I tried to find a way to tell a serious story with a very stupid idea, and what I came up with is instead of an excuse for a Human Supremacists Shepard domineering all the useless alien bimbo's around him, instead it became nerdy, awkward and genuinely heroic Shepard, trying desperately to fit in a society and be a hero.

Basically the fun is the juxtapose of how he's presented and how as he saves people and becomes more and more famous the media and empire behind him try to present him as something else entirely, and how trapped he feels dealing with politics and propaganda when he just wants to help people and save the day. While still building a harem of bimbo aliens that genuinely love him for him, not his power.

But my idea was more about seeing a Capious Cain type Shepard, being a hero while living in a society that's trying to turn him into a villain. And also taking the piss out of a lot of the cheesy Human Centric stories. You know the types, humans are unique and special with stupidly advanced technology and fix everything wrong with the galaxy.

I like this idea a lot. Make it so humanity is a super militarized empire? So guys are taught to dominate and conquer physically and socially and so are girls. Soldier citizens who have bimbofied the other races into sex slaves and pets and here is our inspiring hero. If I may, an idea?

Give Shepheard a renegade brother to be an asshole? The loyal Cain to his able. A sinner who does all the fucked up porn fantasy while Shepheard is in vannila land

My backstory is that this is a humanity that's either survived a nuclear war or some kind of bio plague and has finally boot strapped their way into space with the mentality of survival at all costs and a complicated clan system. Where basically humanity survived on in these separate tribes and city states that competed for resources and power in the post apocalyptic earth.
