I was thinking the second to last was a war lord. He was the one who reunited humanity and conquered the stars, but he got old and his replacement views the spread of humanity's barbarism and slavery to be a tragedy and is quietly in the background trying to reverse it. Which is why the Gods Emperor has disappeared. He's now one of humanity's greatest rebels.

Right now, he's trying to cause enough stress and problems for the current empire to inspire reform and change, while not causing too much it'll collapse as he has a first hand account from his predecessors how destructive that is, regardless of his personal feelings on the current state of the human ruled galaxy.

How wide range is the psyker powers of this setting?

I'm thinking you get a couple psyker's per couple million people, with most of these pysker's only having weak powers like being really unnaturally lucky, or having gut feeling that turn out to be supernaturally accurate. Or the ability to know where objects are or maybe lift a couple pounds with their minds. Small sauce stuff like that. With people like Shepard, Jack, or God Emperor being one in a few billion.

Is it possible to learn psysker powers if you don't have the gift?

I mentioned the Psychic worms the Reapers made that can be implanted and increase your powers, but something interesting is that whole covenants can form centered around various gods and spirits and through intense belief over time the implanted worms themselves get changed to match that specific covenant.

Are the worms themselves rebelling against the Reapers? There's a plot twist for you

With anyone who gets implanted with these modified worms not only having more power than a usual worm, they also get a power centered around what that covenant worships like one for Zeus would give lighting powers, but that worm will also change their behavior and subtly manipulate their minds to match the behaviors and beliefs of the covenant turning it into almost a cult.

Which the Reapers like because that makes these society's more unstable and fragmented. But as for the worms themselves they aren't sentient, the Reapers wouldn't risk that, but the big issues is the god Emperor. Not only the Reapers inability to ever predict someone of that power, but also the fact he would build a cult and thus directs all the worms energy to himself.

Plot point for you. What if some of the Worms become sentient through being tied to these psychic fields?

That could be kind of fun. They wouldn't think of themselves as worms or parasites. Or probably even remember the Reapers as anything more than some impending doom far into the future which they would speak of as armageddon. Nope, they would consider themselves angels or holy sports and representatives of their god, which would be who the cult worships.

I bring up the symboites from Marvel as a example. Beings who develop a culture around bonding to others and being one with them

They would see their mission as not only guiding and trying to help the person their connected to follow the ideas and belief of their cult, but also spread it further and fight back against what they consider sacrilege. Be pretty interesting because again they would genuinely want to help and see themselves and their role as angels here to guide the humans.

So the worms now are a Lucifer rebelling against the Reaper Gods. Do a theme here like with the God Emperor of intended purpose vs what people really want. And the Worms don't want to destroy humanity.

How mean you want Renegade Shepheard?

I was thinking a bit of a sarcastic bitch in the beginning, but does genuinely care about people and her friends, and doesn't like killing or hurting people. Obviously certain aliens aren't people in her book. lol. Buty really her big issue is that she's willing to compromise her morals to achieve a great or goal.

Paragon Shep will always try to do the right thing no matter how hard or painful, or even futail it is seen by everybody else. While Fem Shep can and will make some very fucked up compromises if push comes to shove. She's the kind of girl who'll burn the galaxy to a crisp to protect her family and loved ones.
