Unable to convince the prince of how he's become a despot, the Robert character kills the prince. Having to lead the prince's kingdom in the aftermath. A great war ensures between many competing factions in this divided land where the dragon prince was only one ruler among many. The storm knight tries to honor his friend's dream of peace and make them all submit without being a tyrant as his friend became.

It's a start. Who's your Ned Stark character? Robert's best bud, trusted right hand man, and also foreign to the South, thus not only acting as a honorable character Robert aspires to be but also a good view points character for the audience since his inexperience is a great excuse for characters to explain outloud common knowledge.

Might not be one. We don't want to do just do Game of Thrones all over again. That defeats the purpose of making a original setting. The dragon prince was ned mixed with Rhaegar and Aerys

How old is Hurrik here? Is it the same one who's married and knighted? Or are you doing a young one to introduce readers to the new world/characters?

Hurik with his Painted Women Ygrite but with new names as Jackal isn't a fan of Hurik and Ygrite is from Game of Thrones

Am back. had to let the dogs out. The puppy is having the zoomies and is running back and forth from my room to the living room. But while I kind of agree that Hurrik is a little strange, although I could list twenty more even stranger Norwegian, Scottish or Swedish names which is where the North was obviously inspired by, what kind of country is he basing Hurrik's ancestry on?

Since that'll help decide the structure of his new name. Unless of course you are thinking of making a new language or two like Tolkien. lol.

Good question. I'll ask him tomorrow. I'm going to fuse the Riverlands and Reach into one fae magic region of lakes and flowers

You keeping the political disunity, complicated Chivalric history, and horrible location that means constant invasions by other kingdom? Expanding on these at all?
Bob is bob
Bob is bob
What would you suggest? I do like the riverlands being a culture who had to learn peace alongside backstabbing and other tactics to survive
Andy333
Andy333
I do think if you're combining the two the political disunity is a must. Not just because this is the most populous and fertile kingdom, so it needs a nerf for why it's not ruling the entire Kingdom. But it also acts as a nice contrast of on the surface peaceful, almost harmonic classical knights and fairytale castles, while under the surface ruthless backstabbing and treachery that'll make a Dark Elf blush.

Reminds me a lot of Bretonnia from Warhammer, which is a very fun faction to play with, but it also act as a natural test for Robert. Since if the Reach/Riverlands ever fully unites they would naturally dominate the kingdom and have an impossible amount of control, which when combined with their fanatics for the Seven who are one. Or whatever God you want.
Andy333

Would split the kingdom apart since it would naturally be incredibly antagonistic against all the other religions. But the only way to keep them divided is for Robert to stoop down to their level and use the same dirty, treacherous tactics that he hated enough to kill his best friend over to begin with. Makes for some very nice character drama.

Robert isn't a moral guy here. Our storm knight was a brute who liked drinking and whoring and is now stuck being the good king because the friend he trusted to be his true north moral compass broke under the weight of the crown. In comes the players as that friend's son and Robert's adopted kid. A child with no throne to his name
