I thought I might as well start posting my B5 SI too while folks are enjoying the Star Trek one! This also is part of the GREATER "Adam'Verse" of Multiverse Self Insert stories.

Welcome Aboard Babylon 5. Remember Smoking is Permitted In Designated Areas! Also, no one listens to Zathras!

My head hurts as I regain consciousness. I feel metal as I place a hand on the floor. Metal? Not carpet. What is going on here? I try to lean myself up against the wall, and then quickly realize that I'm not---at home. I see the shuffling people in front of me as well as a myriad of voices. It is dark, not well lit at all. I start to look around and a sickening realization comes upon me.

"Oh shit."

I push myself up off the ground---deck---and look around. I immediately recognize where I am and panic threatens to overwhelm me immediately. I am on Babylon 5, but I'm in Brown Sector. Being on Babylon 5 itself is not entirely a full reason to experience dread and panic, however being in it's Brown Sector with no resources or a way to defend oneself is not a great turn of events. I'm in immediate danger. I force myself to calm down. I look down at myself. I'm wearing a HH gray shirt and blue Fila sweat pants, I have my regular shoes on too as well. My clothes should make me stand out here amongst the rabble. I need to get out of here and find security. I'm not just in Brown Sector. I'm in Down Below, where the poor, and criminal element on the station fill out it's population. I don't know when I am either, depending on the date, there's Dr. Franklin's Free Clinic I could go to. Security scarcely patrols down here, Garibaldi does so out of his own obligation, but the chances of running into him or any of his staff down here right now are slim to none. I keep my head down and try to focus. I need to find an elevator. I get to one, I should be home free. The trouble is finding one. Everything Down Below is mostly unfinished, so there is not a lot of signage or directional indication. I also happen to be in a part of it that doesn't seem to have been shown on the show. Just great. Fuck! It's like being in a maze if you have no idea where you're going, and most people down here, don't.

Normally, I'd ask someone for help, but talking to anyone here could get me shanked, shot, or some other diabolical reaction I can't afford to instigate. I continue to walk around several corridors. I don't recognize any of them. I have no idea where I am nor how long I've been here for. My foot throbs. My back is bad. I don't dare fall asleep here. Luckily I don't have anything of value to steal, I mean my wallet and it's contents are probably unique here now, but not worth anything to anyone except to me. I do my breathing exercises as I make my way through this maze of humanity. I finally think I see an elevator, and head towards it excited when suddenly I hear.

"Hey you!"
I ignore whoever is speaking and continue making a beeway towards the elevator doors.

"Hey! We're talking to you!"

I've no wish to respond to you! I reach the elevator and press the button to call it. I feel a hand on my left shoulder spin me around. I'm cornered by some thugs.

"Hey, you deaf? We were calling you."

"I don't want any trouble. I'm just trying to---"

"We don't any any trouble either. We just want your wallet."

I inwardly sigh.

"Okay. Look, I don't have any money. I'll show you---"

One of the thugs then suddenly punches me in the stomach and I reel from the blow. It's been a while since I've been hit at all.

"You'll hand over your wallet or we'll do worse than that..."

"Fuck you." I spit not a wise move as I get punched in the face and blood spurts out, and I collapse on the ground. I can't fight back. I'm too weak...just as they're about to kick me in the stomach I hear a familiar voice.

"Step away from him, before I make you." as I hear a familiar sound effect twine as well

"Shit! It's the Chief!" they exclaim and run off and I hear boot's on the deck approach me. I feel strong arms help me up.

"You okay?" he asks and I look back at Michael Garibaldi

"I am now...thanks to you. I need to see Dr. Franklin."

"I should think so after that beating. Come on."

I put my arm around Garibaldi's shoulders as he helps me. I am on Babylon 5 for some reason, and just been saved by Security Chief Michael Garibaldi after being nearly beat down by some Lurkers in Down Below! What the hell is going on? Ohhhhh..

Chapter Two: Med Lab
Warner Brothers Discovery (For Now) Own Babylon 5. For Entertainment Purposes Only. Non-Profit.

With Garibaldi's help, we make it into Med Lab. It's thankfully not busy right now. I'm put on a bed, Michael begins his questioning on me.

"Do you want to tell me why you were in Down Below? I recognize your clothing--early 21st century. I haven't seen anything like that though except in vids or museums."

"I'd rather wait until Dr. Franklin sees me actually." I reply wiping the blood from my mouth with my arm.

"And I'd rather not have to wait around, and have my time wasted, but we can't all have what we want." he replies and I can't help but chuckle

"What's so funny?"

"Look, Mr. Garibaldi, I appreciate you saving my life more than you could realize, but whatever answers I give you---you're not going to believe what I say."

"You'd be surprised. Listen, and if I don't, well I happen to know a blonde that would---"

I'm surprised he didn't catch that I knew his name?

"Ahhh...okay--" Just as I am about to speak I see, Dr. Gillian Hobbs--one of the attendings, and Stephen's second in Medlab. She turns to Garibaldi.

"What do we have here Chief? Nice to see you up and about again, finally."

Oh. I know exactly it is is now. Or have an idea.

"Thanks Doc, where's Steven? He's specifically requested him."

"Doctor Franklin is currently with another patient, he'll join us shortly." Hobbs reaches to look at my jaw.

"You've been in a fight?" and I nod

"I found him Down below. A couple of thugs were trying to steal his wallet. I was just about to question him."

"All right. We'll clean you up for Dr. Franklin, Mr. Garibaldi you may proceed."

"Going back to our conversation---"

"Your second favourite thing in the world is Duck Dodgers in the 24th and a Half Century, your grandmother was a cop in Boston, you still have her slug thrower, and Lise will be all right."

"How do you know any of that?" Michael asks darkly, I hit a nerve by mentioning Lise Hampton, his ex.

"As I was about to explain before Dr. Hobbs arrived---"

"Stop squirming." she says as she scans me with a medical crystal.

"I'm uh---not from around here at all."

"Where are you from?" I exchange looks between Garibaldi and then to Hobbs

"I'd like to speak with Captain Sheridan."

"That ain't happening, until I first think you're not a threat."

I bust out laughing.

"Chief...I just got my ass kicked royally. I am overweight---and as Dr. Hobbs and Dr. Franklin momentarily are going to discover---I have a myriad amount of medical inflictions and problems that prevent me from doing most physical things. I want to see Sheridan, because what I have to say---might not be well appreciated by anyone else, no offense."

"All right. Fine. You stick around here and I'll go inform the Captain about you---by the way---you never gave me your name?"

"It's Adam. Adam Christopher Young."

Garibaldi heads off to tell Sheridan while Dr. Hobbs finishes completing her preliminary exam. Out of all the details from the show, the medical technology has always been something that I don't think was ever fleshed out much or explained. Not like Star Trek. Hobbs keeps mostly to herself and I don't really engage with her, not really appropriate right now. Another ten or so minutes passes as Dr. Stephen Franklin approaches us.

"What do we have?"

"A curious case that Mr. Garibaldi has brought us. He's gone to inform Captain Sheridan of our patient, Mr. Young---wasn't it?" and I nod

"Yes Doctor."

"I've finished prelim scans on him and as you can see Doctor---he's got a---"

"Club foot. I haven't seen a case of clubfoot since perhaps med school, certainly nothing like this. The surgical work is remarkable, if rudimentary. What else?"

He reads off my chart on the plastic piece of laminated type paper.

"We're gonna have to do a bunch of tests. X-Ray. MRI. Full blood work, and culture."

"Yes Doctor." he turns to me

"Hello, I'm Doctor---"

"Doctor Stephen Franklin, in charge of Medlab since taking over from Dr. Benjamin Kyle last year who was reassigned to head Earth Force's Xenobiology Division."
He exchanges looks with Hobbs who just shakes her head. Before Stephen can reply, Garibaldi returns with HIM. Captain John J. Sheridan himself. Bruce Boxleitner. Tron. He fights for the users. Even here. I try to compose myself.

"Mr. Young, I've been informed that you've had quite the last few hours? Welcome aboard Babylon 5, I---"

"Captain Sheridan. The honor is mine." I say and extend my hand---reluctantly he takes it and I make sure it is a firm grip

"What's his status?" he asks Franklin

"I've just ordered a battery of tests for him. We're gonna need him here for a few hours at least. Possibly over night."

"I see. You appear to know us?" Sheridan asks

"Yes sir. That is why I requested to speak with you sir. What I have to say would be considered classified information at the highest priority, but I trust all the people in this room right now. I am just not sure if you're all able to handle it. I'll gladly submit myself to any test you deem neccessary, or baring that---I give permission to have Ms. Winters scan me."

That REALLY gets their attention.

"You know about Psi-Corp?"

It would scare all of you, how much I know Captain. But I know you are a collector of secrets so I know YOU can handle this. I'm not so sure about the others...

"I know about a lot of things sir. It is because of where I'm from."

"My guess is he thinks we can't handle it." Garibaldi says with that cockiness

"Take your best shot, Mr. Young. I'll determine the rest." Sheridan says with his hands now behind his back. Damn, I was really hoping we would have this conversation in his office. I exhale.

"Okay. I'm from an alternate reality---where all of you are part of a television series called "Babylon 5". From the little information I've been given indirectly by Mr. Garibaldi, we are only weeks from when the Captain took over from Sinclair, and Stephen's only just arrived, and you Garibaldi--have just returned from duty. Dr. Hobbs recently promoted to Stephen's Second."

They all look at me aghast.

"He knew about my second favourite thing in the world, Captain." Garibaldi says and Sheridan makes his oh really face.

"I'd really rather not use Ms. Winters. Tell us something only the three of us would know, or haven't told each other about---but it can't be something that will happen in the future." Sheridan says

"Even if it's personal?" I ask

"As long as it's not something that will threaten security, sure."

"I know the reason why Michael still continues to make Bagna Cauda. I know why you continue to wash your socks, Captain, and I Know the reason why you decided to become a Doctor, Stephen."

"It's true." Michael says realizing it quickly

"Those would be details that wouldn't be in our files. Now I have to decide what I'm going to do with you." Sheridan says

"I can help you. I know things, past, present, and future. If you send me away...I won't be able to help. There are events in motion Captain...that I guide you all through."
Sheridan looks to Franklin.

"Finish up what you need to do with him, Garibaldi---can you--create an identification for him, something that Earth Central won't be able to track if they should go through the system?"

"Sure."

I reach into my back pocket and pull out my wallet.

"I never showed you my identification." I give it to Garibaldi.

"Adam Christopher Young. Born December 28, 1979...address, eyes blue, brown hair---yeah I can work with this." I expected a bald joke and frown when I don't get it. I was looking forward to retorting back.

Hobbs comes back over with another piece of paper and hands it to Stephen.

"This shouldn't be possible. Look at the gene markers, specifically for age."

Stephen does so. Then looks at me, slightly startled.

"Mr. Young---how old are you?"

"44 Doc...turning 45 in December..."
Franklin then goes and gets something. It's a mirror.

"I don't think you're 45 any more...have you seen yourself since you've been here?"

I shake my head. He hands me a mirror and this time I am in shock.

"I HAVE HAIR!!" I run my hand through my hair and it's thick again.

"That's...unusual..." Garibaldi says

"I am 44, I'm bald usually. I shave due to---eczema as you two have seen. I've...de-aged?"

"It would appear so. We'll run some tests to determine just how long. Captain, we're definitely going to need to keep him over night."

Sheridan nods.

"When he's completed his tests I want to know about it asap. Garibaldi, you start work on his identi-card. I'll inform Commander Ivanova of the arrival of our guest."

"Are you going to tell Talia about him?"

"Not quite yet. He's been overly cooperative so far. I think having Ms. Winters scan him would be a potential mistake on our part. Let's keep this close to the vest for now."

"Aye sir."

I'm then guided into another room where I change into a medical gown. Even in the future I'm still stuck in a hospital, undergoing tests for something. Figures.

Chapter Three: Getting Set Up
Warner Brothers Discovery Owns Babylon 5. For Entertainment Purposes Only. Non-Profit.

I'm kept overnight to continue the barrage of tests. In addition to attempting to determine why I have been de-aged...there are no traces of any of the conditions I had prior to arriving in this reality. My eczema is gone. I still have had my foot surgeries, but everything else wrong is gone. They've managed to isolate the age gene markers, and think that I'm probably around 30 years old. I've also been placed in quarantine after mentioning my reality experienced a global pandemic. Immediate decontamination procedures were ordered, as I was scrubbed clean. Nothing was detected in my system, but Dr. Franklin stated that didn't mean anything since nothing was contained in the medical database regarding Covid. They of course never experienced here. They enter in and out with hazmat suits. To be on the safe side. As is natural whenever I am in a hospital of any kind, the attending Doctor's colleagues usually are brought in to gawk at me, and that is no different just because I'm in a different reality. I'm introduced to all nine Doctor's that were mentioned on screen in various episodes. Franklin and Hobbs are careful not to explain to them where I originate from.

A full day passes before a nurse appears and tells me that I'm being moved to Medlab 3. Dr. Franklin has given the all clear to release me from quarantine. I'm grateful to be out of quarantine. I've experienced it once before back home and it's not a pleasant experience at all. Garibaldi comes back in to check on me. Stephen is present looking at my chart.

"How's our star patient doing Doc? He ready to be cut loose?"

"I think so. Everything has checked out so far that I wanted to monitor. Didn't find any kind of anomalies present in his system. We think---and we'll have to run some more tests to be more exact, that he is around 30 years old now. According to his identicard---he should be 44 years old---about to turn 45 like he mentioned. Now though, you get to turn 31 in December." he looks at me

"How about my foot, doc?"

"I've never seen a case of clubfoot as severe as yours before in my entire career. I've read about them in the journals back in school. It's largely a rarity here. There are a few options we can pursue. We can do a Regen Pack therapy every few weeks, you come in here, and we can slowly restore your missing muscular and bone structure. There is a possibility that we can clone you a new foot. It will take a few months, as you probably know we can regrow limbs---eventually we should be able to duplicate a person---in theory of course. Until then I'll prescribe you a Skin Tab. It's a programmable dermal patch that you can put on your own and administer your own meds. I'll give you an appropriate amount of pain killers for the time being. You're pain threshold being so high---I'll make sure the dosage is manageable."

"I usually take whatever your equivalent of ibuprofen and acetamip---"

"Acetaminophen. That's good to know. I'd like you to come in at least once a week for a check up, and I'd like to make up a food plan for you."

I can't help but chuckle.

"What's so funny?" Stephen asks

"I kind of expected you would say that is all. I welcome it though."

In a couple of weeks he's gonna come up with a diet plan for the senior staff they're all going to despise. It is the episode where Garibaldi mentions the Bagna Cauda from.

"So, is he free to go?" Michael asks impatiently

"I think so. Your clothes are over there. You can change. I'll have someone give you the Skin Tab and show you how to operate it."

"Thanks Doc. I'll see you next week."
I get dressed with the curtain closed and emerge as a nurse hands me over a chip like device and shows me how to work it. Oh this could get diabolical. I can easily see how someone might abuse technology like this. Luckily I'm overly paranoid with what I put into my body medical wise so that isn't a problem. I look up at Michael.

"Are you ready to head over to your new temporary home?"

"I was thinking about that. I don't have anything here..."

Garibaldi chuckles and pats me on the back.

"That my new found friend is where the Captain has come in. He has for the time being has arranged for you to stay in Green Sector quarters, as you know these are usually reserved for Diplomatic visitors and such, but until we figure out what we're going to do with you---i.e. tell Earth Central about you or not---he figured you'd be fine hanging out here."

"That's incredible...thank you."

"Oh it gets better. Knowledge of you for now, has been limited to the Captain, our esteemed exec, Commander Ivanova, Dr. Franklin, and myself. Access to you goes through the Captain directly. I've posted security outside your quarters, people I trust---and before you quip about what happened with Jack--I'm in the process of restructuring the staff now. You know Lou Welch?"

"Of course."

"He's gonna watch over you until I---or the Captain say otherwise."

"Sounds good to me."

"I thought it would."

We make our way towards Green and my new home, where we are greeted by Lou and another security officer.

"Hiya Chief. This the new cat?"

"It is. Mr. Young, Lou Welch, Lou---Adam Young."

He offers his hand and I take it.

"It's a pleasure to meet you Mr. Welch, thank you for looking over me." I say and he nods as the Chief and I enter the quarters

"Well...what do you think?" Garibaldi asks

The quarters are of moderate size. They're actually double the size of regular quarters, and on par with an officer's quarters. Small kitchen. Couches. Sonic shower. Arm chairs. Bab Com Monitor, possibly have StellarCom access. But probably am restricted to the station's network for now. Michael pulls out a plastic card.

"Now, as you know, EarthGov is the only body that can issue out these...but as I'm guessing you also know---I happen to be pretty good with computers. This is your basic identicard. I've buried enough that even the most sophisticated super computers back home shouldn't be able to detect that this is a falsified identicard. How? That's for me to know, and them to find out. Commander Ivanova will be around after her shift is over to help compose your file. I've already started a template for her that is accessible on your computer terminal there on the desk. She'll know what to do. I don't have to remind you not to use Gold Channel for any reason, and I do mean any reason?"

"No Chief."

"Good. Now we have theorized you know how to work this stuff so unfortunately you're access has been restricted to civilian use. This will get lifted once the Captain and I know that we can trust you. He figured you'd be cool with that."

"I am." he hands me the identicard looks exactly like my identification card back from home---but in B5 style and with my ugly mug on it.

"I know what else you're thinking--Chief---I have no money. That has been taken of course for the time being as well. Captain Sheridan has allocated you a small amount of credit from the station's budget---off the books. Commander Sinclair has done this for various things as well--you have 50 Credits a week to start. I know it ain't much, but it'll get you basic needs until you find a job, or we give you one. You're welcome."

He hands me the credit chit It basically resembles a credit card with a debit chip on it from our reality. I Put it and my identicard in my wallet.

"I'll come around and check on you when my shift ends. Ivanova should be around 19:00 hours...she is off at---"

"18:30 usually."

"Damn, you're good."

"Oh when she gets here, she's gonna issue you an Earth Force Hand Link. I've already programmed it for your DNA based on what Doc Franklin has on file now. Civilians don't get these, so this is a privilege the Captain's bestowed upon you. DON'T LOSE IT." he emphasizes

"Thank you Chief for everything."

"Call me Michael. I suggest you watch the Cartoon channel while you wait for Ivanova. You can watch ISN...but I wouldn't." he winks

I watch him leave and immediately head for the sonic shower, and realize I don't know how to work it. Oh boy.

Chapter Four: Ivanova
Warner Brothers Discovery Owns Babylon 5. For Entertainment Purposes Only. Non-Profit.

I successfully manage to operate the vibe shower. I called it the sonic shower, but that's Star Trek. It operates based on the same principal, and there's labeling everywhere thanks to the highly detailed art department. These things are diabolical though. I understand about conserving water as much as possible, but if you aren't careful, you can flay off your skin, instead of just the dirt. It is a funky sensational. The Minbari use a different system. Something to do with sound or such. This literally is like vibrational frequencies or something that you can adjust the intensity of. I've never felt anything like it before, and I'm not so sure that I'm going to get used to this. Water is a much safer option, and since I DO have that option here I think I will par take in it as long as possible. I don't have to towel down, so I just get dressed. I'm going to have to figure out my clothing situation at some point. I plan on saving as much as possible, and will just get the bare necessities to get by. Losing weight isn't going to be an issue here. Prices aren't insane right now---that is going to be an issue when we secede from the Earth Alliance I think, so I'm gonna have to figure out a job too, and I have an idea about that.

I head to the couch and sink into it. It's not bad. Not too soft, not too hard. Just right for me. "Cartoon channel"? Okay.

"Uhhh. Computer display the cartoon channel."

It takes a few minutes and does just that. The Bugs Bunny and Tweetie show is on. How delightful. Hopefully they just don't have Warner Brothers IP 24/7 on this thing...I love me some Hanna-Babara but that's going to be overkill if it's the ONLY thing this shows. I'm gonna have to look into getting a datacrystal full of shows from the last two centuries, including all the sports I can muster, this actually gives me a suggestion.

"Computer, pause channel. Display or read out Earth history from the year 2015 to the current date. Speaking of which--what is the current Earth calendar date?"

"It is Thursday, January 27, 2259. 18:15 hours, station time."

That means I just got here during the thick of the Drazi leadership situation. Poor Susan, she's hobbling around with a broken ankle I think right now. No wonder I haven't seen her yet. I must've just missed her in Medlab.

"Okay, display and read out Earth history from December 2015 through to the current date."

The computer does just that. I forgot that the first Lunar Colony is already established on the Moon by 2018. The space program in this reality was much more advanced than ours. I am hungry. I am going to need to go get food from somewhere soon. This week's 50 credits I think are going to go by fast. There's a beep at the door, and I head to answer it and I see her. Commander Susan Ivanova. Claudia Christian, and I was quite correct about the timeline. She has her crutches.

"Mr. Young?" she asks

"Yes, Commander. Please come in."

"You'll have to forgive me, I had a bit of a issue to deal with that resulted in---"

"I know about the Drazi situation. You did what you had to do, and the solution was quite---ingenious."

She looks at me now with...not anger...but fear? Oh shit. Yeah. That.

"So the rumors about you are true. Sheridan briefed me on you...you know...us?"

"Commander, your secret is safe with me. I will never divulge personal information to the others."

Except with Michael and Stephen because I absolutely had to, but you possessing latent telepathic abilities via your mother is safe with me.

She places the crutches down and sits down at the desk with the computer.

"Let's get started, shall we?"

This is definitely season one Susan. Shields UP!

"Yes Commander."

I pull up a chair and sit beside her as she quickly boots up the computer and punches up my file. She creates the fake profile for Vir...next year I think, so this should be a cake walk for her.

"Garibaldi has already made it certain that if this does get accessed, no one will question it's legitimacy. Unfortunately, we can't do anything about you not having parents, so we'll list them as being...deceased, if we say anything else it'll rouse suspicion. So tell me about yourself, since you seem to know so much about us."

I proceed over the next hour or so to tell Susan Ivanova my interests, basic background information, the medical records she'll be able to access from Medbay. She composes a decent enough looking profile for me.

"What do you think?" she asks when we're finished

"I think it's as good as it's gonna get. Will you need to submit this for the Captain's approval?"

"Yes. He wants you to report to him tomorrow morning at 8:00 hours."

"Understood."

"If that's all then, I will see you around."

"Yes Commander. Thank you for your help."

I forgot how cold she is here. At least to strangers, and especially to those who know more than they should. She nods and I watch her hobble out of my quarters. With that done I need to see about getting some food here...I wonder if B5 has an ordering service?

Chapter Five: Sheridan
Warner Brothers Discovery Own Babylon 5. For Entertainment Purposes Only. Non-Profit.

It took a while but I did discover the station has it's own food ordering service. Several of them in fact. I chose the cheapest one of course, and ordered myself some Tai food from the Zocolo. I'll have to familiarize myself with the markets properly when I get a chance to roam around a bit more. I end up falling asleep pretty quickly after another long, eventful day and wake up at 06:00 and report to Captain Sheridan's office at 08:00. Captain John J. Sheridan. I am still amazed that I'm here. Haven't been able to figure out why, there aren't many species in the B5 universe capable of trans-reality travel, let alone transport. By all accounts, this should be impossible. Sheridan stands up in front of his desk and greets me.

"Mr. Young. Welcome to Babylon 5." he formally welcomes me, and reaches out with his hand and I shake it

"Captain Sheridan. It is a tremendous honor, sir. I hope I haven't caused too much trouble."

He motions to the chair and I sit down.

"You've presented us with a unique situation, I'll grant that. The fact of the matter is that I'm not sure what to do with you yet. I do know however, we can't risk sending you off the station, if all of this is a show to you, then you know everything that is going to happen. You know our pasts. If we send you to Earth---no one will ever see you again."

"Sir--"

He holds up a hand.

"I know you have things on your mind that you want to tell me, but I don't think I'm ready to hear them yet. It's been less than a month since I took command of the station, and still am getting used to how things run, and now you've been tossed into my lap. I need time to properly assess what you've told us. I've instructed the command staff to not discuss you. As far as I'm concerned despite your file, and identi-card, you're persona non-grata until I decide otherwise. Security will be posted outside your door on a 24/7 basis, the guards will be personally selected by Mr. Garibaldi and approved by myself. Anything you need or required...like food---will be arranged to brought to you."

"Yes sir."

"I know this will seem like you're under house arrest, but we can't afford an asset like yourself becoming known, when we're not ready to utilize you...and if the other Ambassador's found out about you---except maybe for the Minbari---"

"I understand sir."

"If any event comes up that you feel the need to relay to us about, you are ordered to inform Garibaldi first, then me, in that order. Is that clear?"

"Yes sir."

There's so much that I want to tell him, but he's right. I can't overwhelm him with this right now. He's still adjusting, and some of the information that I possess will rock his current acceptance of reality.

"I've been speaking with Ivanova and Garibaldi about what we should do with you...you can't just stew around in those quarters either. Garibaldi proposed that we use you on retainer as a consultant. If we require your assistance, we'll request you. You'll be compensated for it. Is that acceptable?"

"Aye sir. I was wondering though about a job..."

He chuckles.

"I figured you might bring that up. Once we establish that you're no longer in immediate danger---or pose one to us, I'll rescind the security measures and you'll be free to roam around the station to pursue whatever you wish. The problem with appointing you with a more official position is that it will attract attention, and that's the opposite of what we want. So for now, things are going to have to be under the desk." Sheridan is tip toeing around things that he shouldn't be aware of yet. He's a smart man though, and knows that if I get sent back to Earth---it's game over.

"I understand sir."

"Good. Do you have anything you want to add, Mr. Young?"

"No sir. I think you've made things pretty clear. I understand I've put you in a difficult spot, and am grateful for the protection. I was wondering about...clothing."

"Ah yes. I can arrange for the quartermaster to find you something for the time being. I don't suppose wearing your current clothing over and over again is a suitable option for you. "

"Thank you sir. I appreciate that."

"Good luck Mr. Young, and again welcome aboard."

I nod and am escorted out of the office by security. This is gong to be harder than I thought to directly influence anything. I'm going to have to earn their trust.

Chapter Six: Delenn
Warner Brothers Discovery own Babylon 5. For Entertainment Purposes Only. Non-Profit.

The next two weeks fly by as I attempt to slowly adjust to my new surroundings. I am on Babylon 5. It isn't a dream. It isn't...well...I don't know what it is yet, but it is real. It is like those stories in those forums you read occasionally. Historically, there is no record of anyone crossing realities like I have at least. I'm sure if they put their heads together back on Earth, they might be able to figure out how this has happened. Is this a First One thing? I'm not even sure who might be responsible for doing something like this here. There's no Q. No Aegis. Nothing like the higher entities from Star Trek or Doctor Who. The Vorlons and Shadows are aware of other dimensions, and we know they're capable of extra-dimensional travel, but I'm not sure if they are this. Lorien? Not his style, he's waiting for Sheridan anyway. I have started writing a journal. Writing down my thoughts has helped a lot, while also creating a List of things that I want to accomplish while I'm here. I must be here to enact some kind of change, or else why would I randomly have just shown up in one of my favourite shows? Telling the senior staff was a bold move, but they should all be able to handle it. The general populace of the station, definitely not. The Minbari absolutely would. As I mentioned so would the Vorlons, and probably the Shadows. The less thinking about them I do---the better. They could be aware of me now given I'm an anomaly. Fucking, Mr. Morden is lurking around here. I'm surprised I haven't heard a knock on my door yet and two shadows materialized in my room...that's probably yet to come. The Centurari would exploit me, as Londo and that asshole Reefa have already done with Morden. G'Kar is just beginning his transformative journey and not ready to know what I know, even if it will ultimately benefit him. He's too angry still.

Given how stressful my life back at home was, doing nothing---or almost nothing for the first time in a few years---has been a pleasant change of events. But I'm starting to stir and stuff's about to happen soon. The Cortez arrived a few days ago to resupply the station. I wasn't, messaged, so this means that things unfolded as they did in the episode and they were still able to rescue the ship from being lost in hyperspace. This would be Sheridan's second report of the Shadows to date, if I'm not mistaken. I should be getting out of here really soon. Plus I think the Underground Railroad with the Telepath situation is going to be happening in the next few weeks. Delenn, I've been informed has been up and about adjusting to her new reality since re-emerging from the Chrysalis a few weeks ago. Garibaldi has informed me in his weekly check in with me, as well as still recovering from Jack's betrayal, and that Sheridan has told the Ambassador about me and she has requested to meet me, which is going to be...interesting. So much destiny unfolding, and I'm couped up in here. The Quartermaster dragged out some used clothing for me, that I've had cleaned. It'll do for the time being. It's going to take some saving, or perhaps my first couple of payments from consulting---for me to be able to afford regular civilian clothing. I've bought a couple pairs of cheap shirts, a sweater, and sweat pants. This will do me for now. I have a small rotation of clothing going right now and that's good enough for me. The other thing that has been...interesting...to adjust to--is being young again. This definitely has never happened in known human history. Franklin was able to confirm that I'm 30 years old. Doesn't know how it happened either. All the ailments I had in the previous reality as a 44 year old are---gone. As if my body was re-generating---or de-aging back to it's previous condition. My foot remains the same, and we've begun a plan to deal with that. I told Stephen that I wanted to start the Regen Pack therapy first, and if that doesn't work, to go full on clone foot. He's already taken a sample of my DNA from my foot and started the gestation process. So it will be fascinating to see where this---

There's a knock on the door. Lou opens it up and I stand as it is---

"Greetings, my name is---"

"Lennier, of the Third Fane of Chudomo. It is a great honor to meet you."

I bow in the customary manner of his people, which further shocks him.

"It's true about you then. You know our ways?"

I shake my head.

"I know what I've seen from the show, as well as in the novels. It's not much. I do not mean to offend by being able to duplicate this--"

"It is not an offense. It is an astonishing thing. I have been asked to bring you to see Satai Delenn, she is ready to see you." Lennier bows. The Minbari and their bowing.

I bow again and suddenly feel underdressed for this meeting. Mira Furlan. Delenn....I feel tingles rush across my body and attempt to calm myself. Seeing Susan in the door frame for the first time a couple of weeks ago made me freeze, meeting Sheridan was exciting, but Delenn...this is an entirely different feeling. She's like a holy person, quite literally. I will need to be careful. She's still growing into this evolution of hers, and does not yet have all the wisdom she will have. Security remains just two people, which is probably not ideal but it draws less attention to who am I. We reach Delenn's quarters. I can't believe this is happening still. Everything looks exactly like it did in the show, just more defined, more crystal clear if that makes sense. More real. I hear chimes. Or what sound like chimes, and feel a strange wave of calmness sweep over me as Lennier goes to announce my arrival to Delenn. A couple of minutes passes and as if almost floating, Delenn appears and I feel...like I felt when watching the series. Like I'm seeing an old friend. She is wearing her season two robes. The Purple and silver. I can't help it and bow to her, she exchanges a look with Lennier who simply nods.

"Mr. Young. Welcome. I would introduce myself, but you already know who I am, so instead I suggest we take a seat. We have a great deal to discuss."

"Ambassador Delenn. It is a honor to meet you." she nods and gestures for us to go sit down.

"When Captain Sheridan told me about you a few days ago, I thought at first he was...making a joke, but once he informed me that you knew...very specific...things...I knew that I had to meet with you."

"Delenn...this is going to be...difficult...or perhaps it won't--given what you know---but I know....everything." She pauses and makes a decision.

"Lennier...leave us please."

The ever dutiful assistant bows and obeys. I thought he might protest out of a concern for her safety, but I'm clearly not a threat. Both of them could take me out with some Minbari martial arts moves in less time than it takes me to finish this thought.

"Yes. This has created a most...delicate situation. You know then the real reason why I am on this station? Why Sinclair was reassigned to Minbar? Why Sheridan was chosen to replace him by the humans?" she asks in that harmonical voice of hers

"I know a lot more than even you do, Ambassador. There is so much I have to tell you and the Captain, but I don't know when to begin. I've arrived at a---delicate time for all of you. This is the beginning of things. The things that Dukhat warned you about, tried to tell you about---all those years ago. The things you discovered about Jeff---Ambassador Sinclair---I believe that I am here---that I was meant to guide both you and Sheridan. To help you unite the races against the Shadows in the coming war." I say

I Finally say their name out loud and it gets the reaction from Delenn I wanted.

"I thought I was alone in this...quest." Delenn says quietly her usually very controlled emotions starting to slip as I relieve her of burden

"Not any longer." I say

"You must be protected above all costs...if the enemy ever got a hold of---"

"It would be bad. Not just for me. I know...things they would literally kill to know. Things that would help them win the war in less than five months. Delenn, are you aware of what Sinclair is doing on Minbar?"

"I know some of it..."

"The Anla'Shok are needed now more than ever. Sinclair and Rathenn will organize them, and you will command them, as eventually will Sheridan."

The use of the Minbari name for the Rangers shocks Delenn. It is right then, that she knows that I am telling the truth.

"If you had arrived among my people...we would have---"

"Put me in a temple somewhere on Tuzanor, and have Rathenn assign telepaths to guard me?" I offer with a small smile

This time she covers her shock quicker, and bows---with a hint of a smile.

"Yes. That is the likely case."

"No doubt after the Council spent three days at least debating about what to do with me before coming to that result."

She laughs now. It is a musical sound unlike you've ever heard before.

"All right, you have convinced me of your capabilities. You can stop---showing off?" she asks and I nod confirming her use of the word is correct.

"I am not hear to harm anyone. I'm not here to disrupt anything, even though I have already to a minor degree. I am here to help, but I can't do that when I'm couped up in quarters. The risk---is great I admit that. There are certain folk on the station that I'd rather not have run in's with yet , I can only be protected for so long before people find out about me. I'd rather take a progressive stance in what I want to do, Sheridan will be upset, but can you advocate on my behalf?" I ask her

"I will do what I can, but it is best for the time being that you do not gallivant around. You will draw as you say, too much attention to yourself. I can arrange for you to be further protected above what Captain Sheridan, and Chief Garibaldi have already. Do I have your permission to inform the Grey Council about you?" she asks surprising me

I didn't think about that. The Council has members on it that can't be trusted too. They're still on the path to Civil War. I think I understand what Delenn intends though.

"Not the Council, and I have my reasons that I can not tell you yet, but I do give permission, as long as the Captain approves, for you to tell your clan, and to the extent of the Religious Caste, but no further than that. Ambassador Sinclair also can be told about me."

That perks her up.

"May I ask why?"

"Spoilers."

"Spoilers?" She asks pondering the word in that iconic accent.

"Spoilers?" she repeats and I laugh now

"I'm afraid so. I'll leave it to your continued Earth language research to figure out what that means." I reply

"Very well. This has been most interesting. We shall speak again soon."

"Of that I have no doubt." I bow to Delenn, and she repeats the gesture to me as we walk towards the door. Lennier is there along with my security detachment.

"We are done here. Mr. Young is to be escorted back to his quarters." Lennier bows now, and Lou nods

Chapter Seven: The Underground
Warner Brothers Discovery Owns Babylon 5. For Entertainment Purposes Only. Non-Profit.

January gives way into February and I slowly start to save my credits now. I get basic essentials. Milk, eggs, bread, fruit, and veg from the Zocalo markets, but nothing extravagant. I have been studying the markets. I know what I want to invest in now when I am able to do so, and it would be considered ironic amongst B5 fans back home, but it is a logical approach to do and I know I will make bank on this investment so it's a no brainer. Delenn has spoken to Sheridan about me, and as expected, Sheridan was irritated that I requested that of Delenn, but I also knew---even at this point---that Delenn would be able to convince him. I am struggling with something already, something I knew I would right away. How to tell John about Anna, and the Shadows? Any fan in my position would do this fairly soon. Sheridan and Delenn have been interacting, but she hasn't been asked her on their dinner date yet. This has given me a conundrum of the heart. I know what I have to do---I just don't know how John will react to the news that his wife is Alive and been "working" with the Shadows this entire time. I have other pressing matters to attend to as I attend my annual weekly check up with Stephen.

"You're losing weight, quicker than I anticipated. You're doing those exercises I gave you?" he asks

"Yeah Doc. I'm guessing my new and improved---old body is also contributing to my weight loss? The fact that I'm actually able to move?" I reply with a question

"We've never dealt with anything like this before, so it's hard to say, but yes I would say you being more mobile has contributed a lot. Once you're able to get out of your quarters, I highly suggest more physical activity. The gym is actually one of the most highly equipped gym's I've seen." I frown at the prospect of going to the gym

"Stephen, I have something to ask."

We're on a first name basis now. I'm like this with all doctors. I'm that kind of patient.

"Sure. What's up? Wait...is this going to be a butterfly thing? You know the rules."

"I know the rules but in this case---"

"Oh. Whatever it is you're going to tell me, I'm part of it." He huffs with an annoyed expression on his face that nearly makes me laugh. I have missed Richard Biggs.

"Bester is going to be coming to the station soon. He is here to take out the rogue telepaths that have been streaming in and out of here since last year."

"Okay...what do you want to do? I assume we do something that prevents him from killing them?" Franklin is not at all surprised that I know this, they're starting to get it now.

"Yes. You have Talia Winters implant a false suggestion to Bester during his investigation. This will only work once, and you'll have to give this to her without it known that I gave you this idea."

He rubs his temple, frustrated.

"How are we supposed to do that?" he asks

"You come up with the idea in the first place. Just don't tell Talia that it was from me. It should work." Not really to deal with Talia yet...that's a whole other bag of issues

"What if it doesn't?"

"It will."

"You sure as hell are confident. Too damned confident if you ask me."

"That is because I have seen it happen already Stephen. Trust me."

"If this works, you'll have my trust." he states

"After Bester leaves, it will need to be made imperative to the telepaths they must leave. Babylon 5 will no longer be a safe haven for them if they stay in the large numbers they've been travelling here in."

"I think I get the picture. Well. That's it for now."

He takes off the patch. This may not be Star Trek technology but it is still remarkable what they can do compared to us. We're starting to make progression with our medical technology, but nothing this advanced. The regen pack has actually started to regenerate muscle and bone for me. I move around my foot.

"How does it feel?"

"Still the same."

"I figured that. We're still at the beginning of the process. It will take a few weeks before you notice anything different. The fact that this is working at all is impressive. I am reading that you've got back about 10 percent of your muscle and bone already. We're going to have to work your leg muscles back so they can support the foot. You feel up to two a weeks?"

Two appointments a week.

"I've got nothing to do." I joke and Stephen nods with a sardonic expression

"Somehow I find that hard to believe. I'll see you Monday afternoon, and Thursday morning. Same times. I'll send the appointments to your computer terminal."

"Thanks Doc. Tell me how it goes with Bester...after he's gone."

"I will. I've gotta go see Sheridan now. Lillian take over for me please."

"Yes Doctor."

I hop off the bed and am greeted by the first time...with another familiar sight which makes me smile. This is like old home week for nerds. Every time I encounter a character---favourite or otherwise it makes me smile and I get tingles. I can't help it. I'm still overwhelmed by being here.

"Hello Zack." I say as he looks irritated

"The Chief told me you were going to greet me informally. I've replaced Lou as your primary security guard."

"No one better. Lead away Mr. Allan." and Zack escorts me back to my quarters, I hope they open. The rent thing should be going on right now...and I may have complicated that for Sheridan. Oh dear.

Chapter Eight: Sinclair
Warner Brothers Discovery Owns Babylon 5. For Entertainment Purposes Only. Non-Profit.

Bester came and went without incident for me. The plan went off like a hitch, and without him knowing of my presence on the station. We got lucky this time. He'll be back in a few months, and I won't be able to avoid him that time I don't think, especially since it involves an outbreak of Dust being used. Maybe I can get a jump on that early, but I'm not so sure that's wise either as that is a catalyst for G'Kar---my memory is hazy on a few plot points. It is interesting what actually being here has done to my brain. Talia and Ivanova are getting closer now thanks to what happened.

It is now May 2259. I've been on Babylon 5 now for four months. Despite the success with Bester, aiding with the railroad, I'm couped up in these quarters. I've managed to save quite a bit of my 50 credits a week. The trouble with this is that the show never to my knowledge, showed anything except maybe for a freeze frame or something on the Universe Today paper or maybe a side scroll on ISN---anything to do with the stock market, so I can only assume that it works the way ours does. I've been given permission to do this, no one expects me to get rich over night---despite my knowledge, as I've tried to explain already many times, my knowledge is not infinite nor covers every single aspect of this place. So I'm still gambling on futures, just as much as any one else is. I create an account and access StellarCom. This is the first time that I've used the interstellar comm device for anything. My major investment is going to be in Edgars Industries. I cringe as I say that to myself, knowing what trouble they're going to get into, but I feel like this is a no brainer for making money in the B5 universe. I stick to Earth based companies for now. I will have to do some more research on alien companies when I get the chance to do so. This is a little risky, but I should be fine in terms of detection with these investments. Aside from EI, I am careful not to buy shares in anything that I know are potentially connected to the Shadows and or Psi-Corp. Again, even investing in EI is a bit of a risk, but I'll take it for the time being. I get some shares in a couple of the arms corporations that supply Earth Force with their weapons as well. Now to wait and let the money grow. Hopefully.

Around the middle of the month I get an unexpected call.

"Huh. No one calls me...what..."

I activate the monitor and on the screen with that trademark smile of his, is Ambassador Jeffery David Sinclair. Valen. The brave and misunderstood Michael O'Hare. I nearly freeze in awe, but recover quickly.

"Entil'Zha." I bow as I feel tingles all around me as I say that title for the first time.

"So the rumors are true about you. Good. I thought I would make the time to introduce myself, but you already know who I am, which makes all of this easier."

"Ambassador Sinclair, the honor is mine. More than you know. How may I be of service to Ranger One?" I ask

"You are aware of the work I have been doing here on Minbar. The real reason I was assigned here?"

"Yes."

"I am about to inform Garibaldi of us. I decided to introduce myself and tell you that we have been operating again on the outer rim. You already know most of what is going on, so I won't bore you with details. The Great Enemy is out there Adam, and we will need your help to defeat them." Sinclair states in a kind of understated dramatic effect kind of way

I can't do that if I'm stuck in here.

"I believe that is the reason why I have been---brought or sent here, Ambassador. To help win the war."

"We need all the allies we can get, and you will be the most valuable one. Your knowledge of what we face, is priceless. You can not be captured. But you also need to be free to go about your business. That will happen soon enough. You know the events that are about to happen. The galaxy has sat on a teetering point for far too long, and nothing has been done about it, that changes, now. The Enemy and their agents are doing their part to manipulate events in their favor. We must counter that. A light in the darkness."

"I will do everything that I can...Ambassador---"

He shakes his hand.

"It is vital that you do not tell me anything of my past or future. There's a part of me that is desperate to know, but since I've been on Minbar, there's another part of me that thinks I will finally discover the truth about what happened on the Battle of the Line. I appreciate your intentions Adam, but that is not your gift to give to me."

I nod. I am having difficulty composing myself during this conversation. All kinds of emotions threaten to overwhelm me. I'm speaking with Valen.

"I understand, and will obey Entil'Zha. Is there anything else?"

"Go easy on them Adam. I know that it is frustrating for you right now, but when you are able to start enacting change---they will lean on you in the coming weeks and months. You will have aide if you need it. Anything you need, all you need to do is but ask, and a Ranger will be deployed." His voice is gentle but also hard like steel. It's difficult to convey.

"Thank you Ambassador. That means a lot."

He nods now.

"My time grows short, there are many events underway now. I have a feeling we will be seeing each other again soon. Until then..." he puts up his hand in a gesture I did not expect to get, and I put my hand on the screen in return.

"Entil'Zha." I say again and bow and the screen goes dark.

I start to cry having not expected to have a conversation this early with one of my favourite characters.

Chapter Nine: Mollari
Warner Brothers Discovery Own Babylon 5. For Entertainment Purposes. Non-Profit.

Author's Note: This will be the final chapter for a week or two. I'm having thyroid nodule surgery tomorrow morning so will not be online for at least the first few days of recovery. I hope all of you have a happy holidays if I don't post before Christmas.

The call with Sinclair proved to be more emotional than I had anticipated. One of my favourite characters in the show. He seems different than I remember him being. More confident. More relaxed. Perhaps it is the role he is in on Minbar. It suits him naturally, as well it should, given who he is. I have now spoken with All The Ones. My inner Zathras is speaking to me....that's going to be an interesting meeting when it happens. More time passes. I message Michael.

"This is unexpected...something's up?"

"Yeah. Ambassador Mollari is about to have his Day of Ascension."

"I'm not one to track all of Londo's various celebrations or what not---but I'm guessing there is something significant about this?"

"He gets to divorce two out of his three wives. One of them though, is plotting to have him assassinated. She is working with Matthew Stoner--"

This gets Garibaldi's attention.

"Talia's ex?"

"Yeah. Mariel is working with him, they will both deny this."

"You want to save Londo's life...why?" he half jokes

"I told you guys---"

"We all have destinies, yeah, yeah. Okay. I'll look into it. I can't exactly have them arrested when they board the station. But I'll have the two of them followed. Thanks Adam."

"This would be a whole lot more easier, if I was---"

"I Know. Soon."

"You keep saying soon, and I'm stuck in here. Eventually I've gotta get out---even---you know who suggested you let me out of here. I can't do the work I need to do, if I'm kept in here. I thought maybe a month or two to start. I've almost been in here a half a year Michael, and i'm starting to get stir crazy."

He exhales.

"I'll talk to the Captain, but you know what he'll say."

Yeah. I do. I just nod and the terminal goes blank.

Much later on, I get word that I was correct, again. Stoner and and Mariel are dealt with. Londo chooses Timov to continue to be his wife as in the show. I get a knock on the door. It is--

"Ambassador Mollari---I uh--"

"Relax, Mr. Young. I was given permission to see you. May I come in?" he looks at the two security guards who look at me, I nod and he comes in.

"How---why are you here?" I ask genuinely confused

"I have my ways." he replies carefully

Uh-huh.

"I came to thank you, Mr. Young. For intervening. The Centauri Republic would make you a very rich man, yessss. Women. Houses. Whatever you want, would be yours." Londo boasts except it is not a boast, it is a half hearted pitch to me.

"I'm not for sale Mr. Ambassador."

Not to mention it would be a mistake to be indebted to the Centauri Republic.

"No, I suppose not. That is unfortunate. The offer is a standing one though. I am in your debt for your service. Thank you."

That's rare for Londo at this time.

"Your welcome, Ambassador." He nods and I watch him turn and leave. I head to the console.

"Why the hell was Ambassador Mollari just at my quarters?" I ask Michael

"He found out about you."

"So you blind sided me with having him show up on my door?" I ask pissed off

"What did he offer you?" he asked

"The usual. I of course shot him down. Londo's dangerous. I want out of here Chief. Now. If Londo knows about me, that means everyone else will in a matter of days."

The Chief nods and I end the conversation.

Fuck.

Chapter Ten: Employment New
Warner Brothers Discovery Owns Babylon 5. For Entertainment Purposes Only. Non-Profit.

Author's Note: I'm back from surgery now. It was a great success. I'm doing very well. Let's continue.

Encountering Londo was the linchpin that resulted in Sheridan finally rescinded the security restrictions on me. I was free to roam around the station, pursue a life, but I still had to follow the chain of command where butterflying was concerned. Londo, no doubt had already informed the Centuarum about me. There's nothing they could really do, but the danger of kidnapping was always there. I had to keep my guard up. I am aware that the Minbari have provided me with guards out of sight. I know that I am still well protected. Every possible precaution has been taken. But it's good to stay alert and be mindful of one's surroundings. Especially on a station like Babylon 5 where anything can happen. I'm tempted to head to the casino to check it out, but it's one of Londo's favourite hang outs, so not a good idea right now considering I'm still supposed to keep a low profile. There aren't a lot of places I can go to where I won't run into Londo in fact. But I have an idea where to possibly find work. I head through Red 5, past the busy Zocalo, and into Doug's Dugout. A sports bar, run by....Doug. Possibly named after Douglas Netter, one of the EP's of B5. Like most of the establishments shown on the station, it's small, low lit, and cramped, a dive essentially, but always jam packed. Especially on weekends. I exhale, and walk up to one of the waitresses.

"Is the manager in?" I ask

"Yeah, he's over there." she points over to the pay desk. I nod and give her my thanks

"Hello. My name is--"

"Kid, I don't care what you're name is. We've got a packed place tonight, and I'm short handed. What do you want?"

"That's actually why I'm here sir. I am looking for a job. I have experience working in kitchens."

I Hand him over my identicard. He glances over it and passes it back to me.

"What kind of experience you got?" he asks

"I've got dish pit experience, and have some training as a prep cook."

"Okay. Go to the back and find Tim. He's the head cook. He'll set you up down there. You listen to him. I can pay you 50 credits a week."

That seems to be a theme here.

"That's fine with me. Thank you, oh and if it matters, Michael Garibaldi can vouch for me."

I go to the back and find Tim. The kitchen is a small, three person deal, with a dish pit.

"Name is Adam. I'm just got hired by the manager."

"Doug hired you huh? Good. I don't care what you can do. I'll train you on the fly. Put on the apron and gloves."

I do so and begin the shift. Nothing I'm giving to do is particularly difficult. I've worked through dinner rushes before. Cooked meals for multiple people many times before, and worked at Rogers Arena for three years where my first shift was me being tossed into a pressure cooker (not literally) with no help and proving that i could handle things. Doug's was a piece of cake, even with just two of us there. Basic diner menu as well. Fairly easy to manage. At the end of the shift, Tim hands me a beer.

"Not bad kid. You have worked in a restaurant before?"

"I worked in an arena in Vancouver for almost four years. Every shift was like triple dinner rushes in a row. We'd often have to work through our breaks. I'd sometimes sleep in the worker's lounge after shift if I had to be back for clean up shift the next day."

"Sounds like my first job on Mars. Well, welcome aboard---what'd you say your name was?"

"Adam."

Tim shakes my hand. I thank him for the beer and take off the apron and gloves. Doug greets me at the door before I leave.

"Tim tells me you did good. Here's a bonus for the night. Kitchen staff takes half tips. Don't except this every night."

"Thanks sir."

"Call me Doug."

I nod, and head out feeling good about myself. It was nice to actually work again.

Chapter 11: So It Begins.... New

It is now June 2259. I have been working at Doug's Dugout now for just over a month. I am enjoying it quite a bit. The sports atmosphere reminds me of Rogers Arena back home to a degree. We have a steady clientele . It's not one of the busier joints in B5, mostly why Doug can only afford to pay me 50 creds a week. The weekends are our busiest times. I've used this to become familiar with all the sports in the galaxy. Yes, that is astounding to state, but humans aren't the only ones who invented sports. Sports seems a universal constant from the dawn of time. Some form of all the major sports leagues exist. Mars has a baseball team of course mentioned from the show. There are less teams than from back home. The Canucks still suck, naturally. Boxing is regulated under the SportCorp, which seems to be galactic wide governing body and corporation. Seems corrupt as fuck. I briefly thought about investing in them, but thought better of it. I keep mostly to myself, Tim is great to talk to after the shift, and has trained me well. I think he appreciates that I can adapt and been in a kitchen before. He doesn't have to babysit me.

The station is abuzz, as it is hosting the Emperor of the Centauri Republic, Turhan. I have dreaded this visit because of the aftermath. Damn it Londo. Damn G'Kar. Why? Because it is destiny. The Centuari and Narn have always been locked on this path, and no one, especially little old me is going to deter them. I can do one though and I put on my best suit and go find him. I find him dressed in his warrior's formal suit. Pacing.

"Hello G'Kar."

"What do you want? I'm busy." the enigmatic Narn Ambassador says trying to dismiss me

"I know what you are about to try to do, I'm here to convince you not to." I say to him carefully

"It's you." he whispers realizing who I am---so there have been rumors now

"I had wished to meet you another way Ambassador G'Kar. I admire you---a great deal, for many reasons. I know why you want to do this. I know better than the others, but doing it will not get what you want."

"It will be revenge!" he retorts back and I shake my head

"What revenge? If you do this, you'll start a new war. Don't be stupid. They'll trace it back to you eventually."

He glares at me and stands inches from me.

"You dare..."

"I do dare, G'Kar. Because believe it or not I know you. I know the kind of man you were, who you are going to become. If you do this---none of that will happen, and you will have condemned your people to a fate worse than before."

"YOU KNOW WHAT THEY DID TO US!!?" he shouts in rage

I nod sadly.

"I do G'Kar, yes. I am so sorry. Please don't do this. You don't know why he's here."

He's here to make peace. If I had any kind of physical training---I should be stopping that fucking rat, Reefa.

"You can stop this..." he pleads with me suddenly, and I can see the weight on his shoulders.

"Nothing in reality can stop what is to happen, Ambassador. Not even me."

"Then we have nothing more to say to each other."

"Please tell me, I don't have to call the Chief? Or alert everyone in that room up there?" I ask

"No." he says making a decision

I nod and step away. I take out the PPG from my back pocket and turn the safety on. I tap the back of my left hand.

"Young to Garibaldi."

"Garibaldi, Adam what are you doing?"

"You've a guest in the brig right now. Release him."

"Why?"

"He's a Ranger, Michael." I state matter of fact

"Holy...acknowledged. Garibaldi out."

This isn't over quite yet. I head down to security and the Ranger from the episode glances up at me.

"Thank you, I have spoken with Garibaldi. There is a message for the other person whom you know. Ranger One has asked me to tell you that we are allowing you to be privy to all our activity reports. You are to share them with no one unless given permission to do so by Ranger One. This is a privilege that can be revoked as quickly as it has been bestowed. Understood?"

I nod.

"Yes. Thank you for your service, walk in the light." i say and he nods blinking once as I say the correct words

My link beeps.

"Franklin to Young, report to sick bay...there's something you should see."

So It Begins...

I enter Medlab after being cleared by Security, which means I am now a VIP.

"Ambassador Mollari, and Lord Reefa left a little while ago. Captain Sheridan is on the line back home, I felt you needed to see him." Franklin says gesturing over to the draped bed.

I nod and head over to the bed. Turhan. Turned out to be a good man, no one understood. We're about to get monsters.

"I'm sorry, your majesty. I know why you came here. What you meant to do...but it was too late. This gesture should have been made a lot sooner, I'm not sure it would have prevented what is going to happen, but it would have helped. I should have intervened sooner. I---"

I put my hand on the edge of the bed. I don't feel comfortable touching him. Suddenly hear chimes...

"Stephen?" I ask turning around

"Yeah?"

"Did you hear that...."

"Sorry, I'm writing my report. I---"

"Thank you for allowing me to see him. I have to go."

I brisk by security and head down the corridor. I'd know that eerie swishing sound anywhere. I turn down a couple more and I see him.

"Kosh." I whisper, not hiding my awe.

The Vorlon Ambassador turns around in his encounter suit. It is what I would call a graceful lumbering. The things they could do now...damn WB.

"Yes." That voice...

"Why haven't you come to see me sooner?" I ask

"You do not understand." He replies, and I shake my head

"Oh no. You don't get to reply in riddles, and avoid me. You know who I am---yeah that's right. I said the right word. I KNOW who I am. Why haven't you come to me before? Why are you letting me slowly pierce things together like a puzzle piece? The two of us know what we need to do!" I exclaim angrily. Vorlons seem to exist to evoke emotion .

"You do not understand." he starts to turn from me

I walk and keep pace with him.

"What does that mean, pertaining to me? I DO understand. All of it. I know what is yet to come as well. You are in danger..."

He continues to stride ahead of me...and I exhale. Damn it.

"You know, for a being who is a million years old---you sure are annoying!!!" I yell

I hear his little vocalizer chime device as he replies to me...and I smile.

Chapter 13: 25,000 Grunts New
Warner Brothers Discovery. For Entertainment Purposes Only. Non-Profit.

The Narn-Centauri War has begun in full force. In my opinion how JMS crafted and executed this particular plot point was genius. There was nothing that I could have done to avoid what occurred I continually tell myself. Not only did Emperor Turhan have to die, and Londo and fucking Reefa get their way, but now I've potentially aliened G'Kar. Not due to stopping him from killing Turhan, no, but he will be pissed that I KNEW about this and DID NOTHING. I am sorry G'Kar, but you have a destiny, and it takes pain and suffering to get to it. You'll understand in the future. I hope.

In the meantime, it is a shit show as 25,000 marines descend into the station. Yes. We've reached "Gropos". Commanded by Stephen's father, General Richard Franklin. Garibaldi knocks on my door.

"Chief..."

"We've got no time to chit chat. Grab your stuff, and let's go." he says hurriedly

"What?"

"We're relocating you to temp new quarters. All Earth Force personnel quarters are being triple, and quadrupled up to accommodate for the...insane amount of marines. Let's go. We don't have much time."

I hurry and pack as fast as I can. Luckily I still don't have a lot of stuff. I shove clothes in a bag---

"What about---"

"Doesn't matter. Let's go." Garibaldi pushes

There's not a whole lot I can do in this episode. Garibaldi, don't fuck up with Dodger.

He nods to his contingent following us which includes Zack as we hurry through corridors and into an elevator.

"Where are we going?"

"The Minbari have graciously given permission for you to stay in one of their VIP quarters. You'll stay there until this is over, hopefully sooner, the better."

"It'll be a couple of days at least."

The Chief humorously glances at me

"That's two days too long." he answers

"It could be worse. They could be here for a week." I grin.

"A week!?" Zack exclaims

We leave the elevator and as we turn, Talia Winters approaches Garibaldi who attempts to brush her off. Talia and I exchange glances....she is then bombarded with images as I am and then...I pull away. She is startled as she runs off. I take a moment to collect myself.

"What the hell just happened?" Garibaldi asks greatly concerned

"I-I....don't---know. T-that---w-wasn't...f-fun..." I barely manage out

"Damn it. We don't have time to deal with this now. Are you okay?"

I reach my head and shake it.

"I'll be okay."

I've waited too long to deal or help Talia. Damn. This could potentially be bad. Really bad, but there's no time to deal with this right now.

We reach the quarters where Delenn and a couple of the Minbari are waiting. The Chief thanks her for this, he has to leave. He's going to be busy over the next couple of days. Not to mention cranky. As is most of the command staff.

"Are you okay?" she asks me

"I think so, I just had an encounter with Talia Winters."

"How?" Delenn asks curious

"She came up to Michael with a question, probably about the Gropos...we passed by each other, only inches away, I felt her mind---which should be impossible at this point to do...and well.."

"She scanned you?"

"To put it bluntly, she did. I don't know what she saw. I don't know what I saw...it was a jumbled up bunch of images, all at once. I'm sure she's overwhelmed. I'm hoping like hell it was too many images for her to decipher...or else we're all in big trouble."

"We will deal with that once this...issue is resolved. You are welcome to rest. Your work, you've been given the next couple of days off. Garibaldi didn't explain why to Doug, just that you needed the break." Delenn replies

"Oh great. Sorry, I am incredibly thankful. How does the flat bed work?" I ask to deflect the question, she knows I already know this but it gives her something to do. She smiles and goes over to show me.

Chapter 14: A Hard Paved Road New
Warner Brothers Discovery Owns Babylon 5. For Entertainment Purposes Only. Non-Profit.

Operation Sudden Death goes without a hitch, as Captain Sheridan plans it with General Franklin as his star continues to rise. Babylon 5 receives it's upgrades. The station is now able to take out a capital ship, and has increased screen and shield strength. Stephen and his father, reconcile. Dodger and Michael end up having their night together. Meanwhile I have bigger fish to fry.

"So let me get this straight, Talia Winters passes you by while you're being escorted to your new quarters, and what...you both get some kind of psychic imagery from each other?" Captain Sheridan asks as I sit in his office, he looks tired.

"That's right. It was a jumble of images for me. I have no idea what she saw. This should have been impossible. My understanding is that she has to touch someone in order to scan them."

"That's our understanding too, but this implies---a great deal. You're telling me that she might know what you know, now? Maybe more?" he asks

"I don't know what she might know sir. I'm guessing she was bombarded the same way I was. I saw things too...things I can't decipher."

Sheridan pours himself a cup of coffee, offers me one and I politely turn it away. He rubs his temple in frustration.

"You're holding back on me, Mr. Young. I recognize that look on your face now."

It's time I told him about Talia.

"Promise not to hold anything against me if I do sir?"

"I understand you have to keep certain things close to the chest. Hell, I'm the one who told you when we first met, I didn't want to know everything---but if it has anything to do with station security, or the well being of the people of this station--"

"I don't know how exactly to say this, so I'm just going to say it. Talia Winters is not who she thinks she is."

"Ah hell." he takes a moment then prompts me

"How? Psi-Corp?"

I nod.

"Yes sir."

"Wait...is telling me going to compromise whatever it is you're attempting to do with Talia?"

"It shouldn't sir. I know you collect secrets, are interested in conspiracies....are you familiar at all with Project Lazarus?"

The name hangs in the air.

"Bureau 13. Yeah, I found out about it."

" Lyta Alexander will board the station later this year and expose Talia. I had hoped to help Talia, but I don't see any way of deprogramming the conditioning without first triggering the personality."

"Damn. Why can't anything just be simple?"

"Wouldn't make for a very good story..." I half mutter

"What was that?" he asks and gives me that knowing look

"Nothing sir."

"Uh-huh. So how do you want to handle this? Talia has been asking who you were, so far thanks to the Gorpos being here, we've not had to tell her anything."

"I'd like to sit down and meet with her sir. I think it's the only way."

"I Don't think that's a good idea, especially after what you've just told me."

"I agree, but there's no other way---and I'd prefer to confront her. Not about what we talked about, but we also need to know if she actually knows anything, and I'm the only one who can find that out."

"You've been around Garibaldi too long..." He mutters

"All right. I'll authorize a fifteen minute sit down with her. Security will be present, to make you both safe, but they'll be posted discreetly."
"Thank you sir."

"Be careful Mr. Young."

"I intend to sir."

Later that evening I head into the Zocalo. It's still weird to comprehend that this is my reality now. Seeing this place for real, it overwhelms me sometimes. I push that thought aside as I see Talia sitting down waiting for me in an empty steel table. She's of course wearing her mustard yellow and black Psi-Corp uniform, and nervously touching both of her gloved hands. I decided to put on one of my suits for this. A casual suit. Nothing fancy. This is just like how you've met everyone else so far. Yep. Nothing overly important or anxiety inducing here. Adam calm.

"Ms. Winters." I greet formally as I approach her and she half smiles, she's def on guard, and who can blame her after what she just experienced?

"Mr. Young. So formal." she offers me her hand and I take it and shake it

"I felt it appropriate, since we've not officially met each other yet." she motions to sit down and I do

Damn. I wish there was another way. I LIKE Talia. But remind myself quickly, she isn't Talia. I don't know what she is right now. A thing of Psi-Corp.

"So uh...thank you for agreeing to meet."

"Do you know that you're an empath?" she starts and I nod slowly

"I have known probably since I was in my twenties that I have some kind of ability to feel others feelings. The closer to proximity to me, the stronger I feel them, etc."

She nods. I start to relax and decide to take a different tactic. I wave my hand in front of her.

"What are you doing?" she asks

"There's nothing to see here. Move along."

She surprises me with a chuckle.
"That was a cute moment in the movie."

"You've seen Star Wars?" I ask

"A long time ago, yes."

"I'll just come right out and ask you, what did you see? I felt your mind...I shouldn't have." and she nods agreeing with me

"I think it was due to your empathic nature. You were highly anxious, stressed out, sometimes surface thoughts can bleed out, especially around Telepaths that are ranked P5 or higher."

Which she is.

"I see..."

She sigh and places both her hands on the table.

"I haven't been able to decipher what I saw. There were...too many images. I do know one thing though, and I don't mean to startle you--"

"Yes?" I prompt

"I saw multiple versions of you." she says not understanding anything

"What?" I breathe

"You, but many different versions of you. Again it was fleeting, nothing lasting for more than a half a second...."

I almost visibly relax.

"I'm sorry. That must've packed a punch."

"It did. Took me all night to recover. I tried to ask Commander Ivanova about you, and Garibaldi, but they both wouldn't answer me."

She sounds hurt when she mentions Susan. So that confirms that.

"I'm sorry. All you need to know is that I'm a friend. I'm here to help." I say

She nods. I can't tell you more since I can't trust you. Plus I don't know if you'll report me to Psi-Corp even now, anyway.

"So where does this leave us?" I ask

"I think I have enough information about you. I was simply curious..."

I nod.

"All right. If there's nothing else?" I ask and she nods and the two of us shake hands and I watch her leave. I observe security leaving. I am starving hungry. I decide to head over to the Eclipse Cafe and order a roast beef sandwich, and say hi to Kat who is working. I start chatting her up, trying NOT to think about the conversation I just had with Talia...

Chapter 15: The Conspiracy of Light New
Warner Brothers Discovery Own Babylon 5. For Entertainment Purposes Only. Non-Profit.

I wake up and hear a soft groan beside me. I turn to see Kat laying there. We spent the entire rest of thed day talking, and I ended up inviting her over for dinner at my place. I've since moved back into my quarters after the marines were here. Luckily they didn't damage anything, a miracle really given what the rest of them did to the station. I made a creamy egg noodle pasta with chickpea sauce, and a light salad. Must've done the trick.

"Computer what is the time?"

"The time is 09:00 hours".

Kat hears that and humorously shoots up out of bed naked.

"I'm late for work. I work the cafe today. I'm at the officer's club later tonight."

She grabs her clothes from the floor and starts putting them on.

"Will I see you again?" I ask

"Sure hon. You know where I work." she winks back and then quickly comes and kisses me before hurrying out the door.

My door chime beeps.

"Uh just a second."

I toss on my robe and head to answer it. It is Delenn.

"Ambassador...I uh..."

"I apologize for disturbing you at this hour Adam, but---"

"The Council has summoned you." she bows

"Yes. I do not know when I will be back, but felt it was important for you to know."

"Thank you Ambassador for everything you have done for me. You'll be back. We still have a great deal of work ahead of us." I probably shouldn't have said that

She nods and the two of us exchange bows. I watch as she leaves. The Council has requested her presence in order to determine her fate, and answer for her...transformation. Wait a minute. If this is happening now. I rush over to my side table and grab my link.

"Young to CIC."

"Ivanova here. Is there a problem Mr. Young?"

"Yeah---has Captain Sheridan left to deal with the Streib yet?"

"They left a hour and a half ago. Why?" I can hear the concern in her voice

"Damn it..." this is what I get for sleeping in

"The Captain's in danger. With your permission I'll be up there in less than fifteen minutes."

"Acknowledged."

It's my turn to grab my clothes on and hurry out the door.

In twelve minutes for the very first time I rush into C-In-C and don't have time to take in the fact that I'm inside Babylon 5's control center. Susan looks at me with concern.

"What's going on? What's happened to the Captain?"

"The Captain has been kidnaped by the Streib. They're the ones responsible for the raids in the sector of space you briefed him about this morning. They perform experiments on their victims. He is there with Ta'Lon. He's probably in the middle of attempting to escape right now."

"Do you know the coordinates of his location? We're expecting General Hague shortly?"

"No but I know someone who does. Contact Ambassador Delenn and explain the situation to her."

I stand off to the side while Susan does so and Delenn looks slightly tired. She must be into her situation with the Council already...

"Yes, they are called the Streib, as our mutual friend described."

"Can you provide us with coordinates to their home world?"

"Of course."

She relays the coordinates and Susan alerts General Hague along with the Agamemnon.

"They will intercept the Streib ship and rescue the Captain." she says and I Nod

"Thank you." She says

"Your welcome. I just wish I was able to---

She laughs.

"You know perhaps better than anyone that you're not stopping John Sherdian from doing anything he has committed himself to, least of all going into a dangerous situation. Been there, done that."

Corwin confirms that General Hague as well as the Agamemnon have received their signal and are on the way to intercept the ships. With that I nod to Susan and head out.

Later on that evening. I'm called into Sheridan's quarters, the first time that I've been here now. Today's been quite a day. I enter and stop in place as I see General William Hague in person. Robert Foxworth. I have a weird sensation swarm over me and it subsides.

"Captain I---"

"It's all right Mr. Young. The General knows all about you. Come in." he must've realized Hague could be trusted about me...for obvious reasons

General Hague reaches out his hand and I shake it. It is an iron grip.

"At ease, Mr. Young. Captain Sheridan felt given the sensitive nature of what the two of us have been working on, that I could be trusted where you're concerned. Welcome to our reality, son."

"It is a honor to meet you General." I say with all sincerity

"We've asked you here tonight, because we both know that you are aware of what we've been attempting to do." he starts

I pause.

"It's okay Mr. Young, the room is secure. You may speak freely."

"General...I admire what you and the Captain are attempting to do. But if I might make a suggestion?"

"By all means."

"Do not be so bold in your defiance of President Clark. It is what gets you killed, sir."

Butterflying Hague getting killed is a huge on my to do list.

"Elaborate."

"You are planning on putting together a coalition of forces against the President. I advise to go slow with this plan. President Clark's agents are already on to you, probably even now. They will chase you down and end up destroying you within the next several months. It is not yet time to confront Clark."

"We can't wait for a perfect time, son, you must realize that." argues Hague

"There will never be a perfect time, but I'd much rather have you alive--than dead. We need you sir." I reply with earnest

Sheridan will still ascend even with Hague in command, but staying alive as long as possible, will mean we will have resources in theory, they didn't in the show.

"Very well. What of the other matter I have had Captain Sheridan enact on my behalf"

"The command staff of Babylon 5 are loyal to Earth sir. They will be brought into the conspiracy."

He nods his head.

"Well Captain, I should think that confirms the fears we've had. Mr. Young has just indirectly confirmed everything we felt was happening."

"Mr. Young knows what has happened, sir, and has seen the outcome of it. We need to be careful though if we're to win this fight. I agree with him on that."

"I don't have much more time. Captain Sheridan was correct in not sending you to Earth. If Clark's forces or Psi-Corp discovered what you are---then all would be lost."

"Yes sir."

"Your secret is safe with me, son. If you ever need anything, and I'm in a position to grant it---don't hesitate to ask."

"Thank you sir. It's been a honor."

"We'll be in touch Captain." he leaves

"Susan told me that you were responsible for helping rescue me. Thank you."

The One must be preserved.

"Your welcome sir. The others?"

"Will be told what is going on after the General leaves. You were good there with him."

"Thank you sir. I think my confidence level has shot up being here. Having something to do---"

"You don't talk much about your life back home...was it all that bad?"

"Not at all sir---just---difficult.

"Life usually is." he taps his Link and calls in the others.

Some time later after the Captain and I have talked some more. I watch as the others file into Sheridan's quarters. They all exchange glances with me. I nod back.

"All of you by now have interacted with Mr. Young here...Adam, all of us know where he is from, and the knowledge he possess. I have chosen to confide in General Hague about him, and now all of you need to know that he has my trust."

They all nod at me again and I nod back.

"Ever since the death of President Santiago, something unpleasant has been going on back home. You know it, and I know it." he says addressing us

"We've stood by too long. That's going to change. Quietly, discreetly, an inch at a time, and for now---strictly within the rules. But we have to do something or risk losing everything we hold dear."

"We'll get some help from inside Earth Dome, and Mr. Young here will provide us with bits and pieces as we go along, but the bottom line is, if anything goes wrong, we're on our own. Anyone wants to leave now, before you hear anything you'll have to report---do so. Nothing will be said."

"I'm in."

"Ditto."

"Hey, I never did know when to butt out."

"We're with you Captain. Where ever this goes, however it ends, we're with you."

The Conspiracy of Light has begun.

Chapter 16: The Problem of Talia New
Warner Brothers Discovery Own Babylon 5. For Entertainment Purposes Only. Non-Profit.

The rest of the summer unfolds generally without any kind of major incidents. Kat and I start a relationship, she tells me she has an ex back on Mars, that's why she is on Babylon 5. What a shady planet. Seems like the scum and villainy of Sol System. I do not really ever want to visit there, but something tells me that I will probably end up on Mars at some point or another. I continue working at Doug's. It's a nice place given the fact it's really a dive in disguise of a sports bar. It reminds me at times of Rogers Arena back home, and I get to follow all the sports. Life continues despite major events. It's funny that way, isn't it? I've been spending a lot of my spare time contemplating the problem of Talia. A part of me has just dismissed that there is no way to help her, and mostly because I think it is mentioned that the programming is so intricate that if it's tampered with at all...will end up killing her in order to safeguard the programmers. But then I had an idea. I track down Kosh.

"The Vicker, Abbot....the one you had record Talia's mind...for the future he says to you."

"Yes." Kosh says as he faces me

"You know what is inside Talia...who and what purpose she serves, don't you?" Adam take the edge out of your voice, Kosh's patience doesn't tolerate impudence.

"It is not for her...but another." he replies which makes me blink

"Are you talking about Lyta?" I ask

"You must go now." he says

"We're not done yet. I know Vorlons have the ability to undo Psi-Corp programming, you can help her without killing her."

"Go. Leave us." he begins to leave, and I let him. I'm pushing.

I then make a beeline for Ambassador Delenn's quarters. Lennier answers and informs Delenn I'm here to see her.

"I wanted to ask you a theorical question, Ambassador."

"Of course. What can I help you with?"

"Minbari Telepaths. I was wondering if it were possible if they could---deprogram a human telepath?"

The two Minbari exchange looks with each other. LOL. It's rather comical.

"I believe that we could, but in most of these cases, we would have to ask Psi-Corps permission to do so."

"What if this person, doesn't know they're...programmed?" I ask

"Are you referring to someone aboard the station?" Lennier asks

Only Captain Sheridan knows about Talia, and we said we would keep it that way, but if the Minbari can help.

"It's just a theory I'm working on Lennier."

Lennier gives me an uh-huh look.

"In theory..." Delenn continues

"One of our telepaths could undo...certain programming...however it would depend on what has been placed within the mind of the subject we're freeing." she says

"That's what I thought...so it's possible."

"In theory, yes." Delenn says

Could this be a solution? If we were able to free Talia from Bureau 13's programming---what would the blow back be like? It would become obvious that someone had discovered them, Talia would be in immediate danger, with us having no ability to really protect her from those agents. Maybe...maybe I'm right and this just isn't doable.

"Adam...you are wool---gathering..." Delenn says

"I am indeed. I have taken up enough of your time Ambassador, Mr. Lennier. Thank you both." I bow to them and leave.

I arrange to meet with Sheridan and tell him what I've learned.

"So you think it is possible to...release Ms. Winters from her programming, but at great risk to everyone else?" he asks

"Yes sir."

He leans back in his chair.

"What did Kosh say?"

"He was annoyed that I brought it up, and told me to leave." in less words than I just used now

That gets an eyebrow raise from Sheridan.

"You're starting to get a reputation Mr. Young, it takes a lot to annoy a Vorlon."

Indeed. I can talk the ear off of anyone though given the time.

"Yes sir, if there's even a chance the Minbari telepaths can do this...don't we owe it to Talia?"

"We don't know what will happen if we do this, or even the person that Talia is...I'm guessing the person we know now---is the programmed personality?"

"Yes I have assumed that as well, especially from the way she reacts after she's exposed. I just---I feel responsible for this." I saying sighing.

"Mr. Young...you need to learn to let things go. You aren't Superman. You can't be everywhere at once, and you can't undo every single bad thing that has or will happen to us. If we're able to find a way to do this---safely, properly, I will authorize it, until then though...we let this unfold as we've previously discussed. Understood?"

I've always loved Sheridan's willingness to compromise if it makes sense to do that. He really is one of the GOAT Sci-Fi Captain's.

"Aye sir."

Damn it.

Chapter 17: Morden Part One New
Warner Brothers Discovery Owns Babylon 5. For Entertainment Purposes Only. Non Profit.

Seasons on a space station is a...difficult thing to process. There's not really any kind of sense of change. Things just keep on trucking along. Thank Rao we have calendars, and watches---which are actually called watches here and not chronometers, or some such sci-fi bullshit. Rao bless JMS. Doug has increased my wages to 100 credits a week now, as November hit. I've been working here now six months, and really enjoy it. Kat and I see each other when we can. I put more of what I have into Edgars Industries. I feel shitty doing so but---it's a easy and quick-ish way to make some dough. As the end of the year begins to approach, that nagging feeling I have had begins to become too much to ignore and I make a decision.

"Chief, we need to talk." I say to Michael as I enter Security Central.

"Chief? It must be serious, you haven't called me that in months now."

"It's about Captain Sheridan, Michael."

"Uh-oh. I know that tone of voice. You're about to drop a bombshell on me...okay what's up?"

"Has he ever told you about Anna yet?" Michael's face drains instantly

"His wife? Yeah she was lost on an IPX mission on Mars---oh crap. You're about to tell me something, I shouldn't know about again."

"Michael, I am telling you this in complete confidence. I wasn't sure who to go to first, and telling the Captain about this straight up---"

"I understand, just give me to me, the best you can."

"It's complicated..."

"Damn it Adam, believe it or not I'm a busy man, I don't have time---"

"Morden. You need to detain Morden for questioning. He's the key to learning about...Anna. That's all I will say for now."

I hear Vorlon like chimes in my head. That strange wooshing sound. No Vorlon is around though.

"Why? What's he got to do with this? I've seen him around the station, talking to several of the Ambassadors."

"Check the Icarus's file...and then go see the Captain. If I am needed. I'll answer."

"Now you're starting to sound like a Vorlon..."

"Michael...events are proceeding as they did before. The enemy that Ambassador Sinclair is helping to prepare us to fight---are active again. I've read the Ranger reports for the last three months...as I know you've been doing. They are getting ready, we must be ready, and that means---"

I am starting to feel like Gandalf in Lord of the Rings. I get goose bumps when I talk to the characters about epic lore stuff...we are nearing it.

"All right. I get it. I'll check the file, and go see the Captain. I'm sure you'll be contacted after he figures out whatever this is you've just dropped into my lap. Is that all?"

"Yeah. Thanks Chief!" I say and head back out, I can see him shaking his head.

It takes a few hours and my link goes off.

"Sheridan to Young."

"Young here, go ahead sir."

"Report to the brig, Mr. Young. On the Double."

OH yeah, he's pissed. Maybe more so than in the episode. This is going to be great for me. Liable to get TOSSSED.

I make a beat down to Security Central, where I find Sheridan with Garibaldi watching Morden on the monitors. Sheridan points to Morden.

"What the hell is that, and why the hell haven't you told me about...any of this?" he asks angrily

"With the greatest of respect Captain, you told me not to." I reply staring at Morden coldly

"Was this what you were fighting with yourself about?" he demands

"Partly. Captain, I am so sorry. You have a perfect right to be angry with me for this. I struggled with what to do about this, I wanted to tell you right away, but you gave me an immediate out by not disclosing anything to you at that first meeting. So I didn't. I know that was wrong of me, I know how much---this has---"

"No you don't. You know what the show or books showed you, you have no idea how I feel....what happened Adam? What's his connection to my wife?" he demands

I tell him everything I know---except for the big thing, that Anna is "alive" and working for the Shadows.

"Jesus...so there's a chance she might be alive..." he says

"Sir, I request permission to speak with Morden." I ask and he snaps around

"Denied."

"Sir...it will only take a moment. I need to do this. For whatever reason they've been avoiding me, and I've been anticipating them since i got on board. You and the Chief can continue to monitor us from in here. I will be okay. Give me five minutes. That's all I ask."

Sheridan and Garibaldi exchange looks. Neither of them like this idea, and I can't say as I'm particularly fond of it either. But I need to do this. I need to speak with him.

"Five minutes. That's it. We even see so much as any discomfort from you---you're getting pulled out of there." Garibadi says and I nod

I head into the brig and security lets me in. Morden looks at me for the first time. I return his gaze with a cold stare. I pull up a chair and sit down across from them. I feel...a strange coldness only inches on me from either side. They are here. I use every inch of will power not to shudder.

"Ah. Mr. Young. What can I do for you today?"

I have quite possibly made a big mistake.

"Isn't there a different question you want to ask me Mr. Morden?" I ask
and he chuckles and sits back in his chair and folds his hands together. He is more relaxed than I am.

"We'll get to that question in a moment. You want me to ask you another question."

"Get to it then."

"My colleagues and I have been...observing you Mr. Young. Ever since you boarded the station. Not quite sure what to make of you, or where you stand on this great board game of ours, we're playing. I was given instructions to be cautious with you...it would seem my---associates were correct to be. You've made a lot of changes while you're here."

I can already imagine the Captain and Chief not liking this conversation at all so far.

"Yeah. So have you been."

"What do you want, Mr. Young?" he asks

"I'd like you to go fuck yourself...but seeing as how that won't happen at all...I'd like to see your head on a pike one day, and be able to laugh in your smug face."

Morden nods.

"That is too bad. My associates are naturally curious about you. We could do a great many things together. Reshape the galaxy."

"No thank you."

That's enough. I get up and put the chair back at the desk. I still can feel that strange coldness wash over me, they are here. I fight the urge not to shudder or look on either side of my shoulders.

"The offer is a standing one, Mr. Young. See you around." Morden parts

I head out of the brig and exhale...as I move towards the bulkhead and lean against it. I hunch over, one of the security guards---Perez I think---tries to tend to me but I wave him away.

"I'm fine, thank you."

I walk back to Security Central and the two of them have frowns on their faces.

"Was that really necessary? You could have---" Sheridan starts

"I got information I needed from him sir. It was absolutely critical. Cut him loose." I say frankly

"What?"

"Sir, in a few minutes, you're going to speak with Kosh, and Delenn. They will tell you the same thing. He is incredibly dangerous, they will explain why to you. He is NOT alone in there. He will escape if you don't cut him loose, and the entire sector will be in immediate danger."

"This isn't done yet Mr. Young."

"No sir, it's just the beginning. After you've cut him loose, gather Kosh, and Delenn. We have a lot to talk about"
I turn to Garibaldi

"Michael, on your down time, I'd like you to teach me how to use that PPG properly." I ask

"Are you sure?"

"Absolutely. It's becoming clear to me I will need to know how to use it..." I tail off lost in thought as I head back to my quarters

We are gathered in my quarters. Sheridan sits on the couch a little bit exasperated, he's gonna be pissed at me for a while, and perhaps longer than that once he finds out about Anna. He forgives Delenn, but I'm no Delenn. Kosh hovers in the centre of the room like a dominating ethereal presence. While Delenn sits besides John on the couch, their increasingly closeness ever obvious. I smile inwardly as I see them. Destiny. I sit on the arm chair across from them. A part of me envies them. I'm lonely, even with Kat.

"All right Delenn, it is story time." I say gently

"There are beings in the universe billions of years older than either of our races. Once, long ago, they walked amongst the stars like giants. vast and timeless. They taught the younger races, explored beyond the rim, built great empires. But to all things, there is an end. Slowly, over a million years, the First Ones went away. Some passed beyond the stars, never to return, some simply disappeared."

"Delenn...I'm sure this is interesting---but what does it have to do with Morden?"

Patience.

"Not all of the First Ones went away. A few stayed, hidden or asleep waiting for the day when they may be needed, when the Shadows come again."

Sheridan sees me visibly shiver now.

"Shadows..?"

"We have no other name for them as Mr. Young can attest to, The Shadows were old when even the Ancients were young. They battled one another over and over again across a million years. The Last Great Shadow War was one thousand years ago. It was the last time the ancients walked openly amongst us. But the Shadows were only defeated, not destroyed. A thousand years ago, the Shadows returned to their places of power rebuilt them and began to stretch forth their hand. Before they could strike, they were defeated by an alliance of worlds including the Minbari and the few remaining First Ones who have not yet passed beyond the veil. When they had finished, the First Ones went away. All but one."

I look at Kosh and he nods to me.

"There's still one of them left?" Sheridan asks and Delenn nods

"That is why Kosh can not leave his encounter suit. He would be recognized."

"Recognized? By whom?" He is really struggling with this, and I need to acknowledge that this is the first time in real time---in reality time---he has learned this. For me I've seen this conversation---over a dozen times at least. It still never ceases to blow me away or give me tingles.

"By everyone..."

"For centuries the Vorlons stood alone, the last remaining guardians, watching and waiting. Then last year, I sent Kosh a message."

This is where the flash back occurs. Kosh tells her it is time. Did you relay my message precisely, word by word, yes. Etc. This is fucking fantastic writing. It gives me goosebumps beig present at this. At history.

"Have the Shadows returned to Z'Ha'Dum?"

He turns to me now.

"That's the world G'Kar has warned me about all year..." Sheridan says. Both Bruce and Mira were so good during this scene. One of the top ten all time scenes in the show, in my opinion and I'm living it.

"Sheridan...learn." Kosh says and he projects what he does with John

"Captain...John...." I say for the first time

"John...I know what Anna means to you. It isn't just a show to me. I'm here now. With all of you. Living and breathing beings. But if Morden continues to be held, it will put the entire station, the entire quadrant at risk, and we can not afford to lose Babylon 5 under any circumstances. Let him go."

If Morden is pressed further, as Delenn says in the show, and she's telling John right now. Then Morden will be killed, this will lead then to Sheridan and myself being killed, and if one or both of us are killed---all is lost. This is why I didn't go more aggressively against Morden as much as I wanted to. I wanted to have a much more harsher conversation with him. I had more questions. Threatening him wasn't a sane option either. Neither was trolling him. We are not in a position to fight yet. Not yet. Soon.

"We believe Adam has been sent to us to help turn the tide of the war in our favor. A great asset none of us ever thought possible. He must be protected at all costs, and you Captain, you told G'Kar he had to decide between revenge and the good of his people. Now you must make the same decision, for the greater good. It will be the most important decision of your life."

He takes all of this in and makes a decision as he did in the show. Before he leaves he and I talk.

"You have a burden I only have just begun to understand, Mr. Young---Adam. I'll admit to not really understanding what you know really means, I might not...but I'm sorry."

"You have nothing to apologize for Captain. You miss your wife. I know things that you don't...and it frustrates the hell out of you. When the time is right, I promise you that I will tell you everything."

He nods.

"Get some sleep Adam, you'll need it."

He leaves for his little conversation with Zack in the brig. I turn to Delenn and Kosh.

"Will that be enough?" I ask

"It is a beginning." Kosh replies

"Will you teach me, as you will him?" I ask him

"Yes...."

Chapter 20: Traitor New
Warner Brothers Discovery Own Babylon 5. For Entertainment Purposes Only. Non-Profit.

Morden is released without incident. Nightwatch is announced. With everything going on---I completely forgot about fucking Nightwatch! Damn it. They're gonna be an absolute bitch to get off the station, and avoid them at the same time. Life goes on as usual. Since I have exposed Talia to Sheridan and made it absolutely clear that any intentions he had with her before aren't great---she has been isolated somewhat---

"Sheridan to Young." I tap my link

"Young here." I reply

"Report to my office please. Mr. Young."

"Aye sir. "

What now? I hurry and enter the quarters and almost freeze in place.

"Lyta..."

She whirls around and scans me immediately without permission. I reel back from the force of the push...and so does she startled.

"Whoa!" Sheridan exclaims but I hold up my hand

"I-it's fine. I expected that...WAS going to demand that she did that---but---but L-yta is---" I pause feeling woozy, Damn vertigo. Lyta also reels back from scanning me so forcefully. She pushed too. HARD. It wasn't just a touch like Talia in the hallway.

"How?" Lyta asks as she grasps her forehead. I am gonna need a Tylenol or four after this...or maybe something stronger...FUCK.

"Mr. Young is our unique visitor, how much did you see?" Sheridan asks

"Too much...a lot of what I s-shouldn't have..."

She sent the password and it---bounced back at her? Like a ball against a wall. Slammed right into me and my mind has pushed it right back at her. Saying it was a weird experience was...an understatement.

" He's not who I'm looking for---but now I know who TO look for. " she replies with a cold fury

I stagger towards Sheridan's desk and sit down on the chair. Much better. FUCK though.

"So...does this---this mean---holy shit sorry give me a moment."

I haunch over.

"Does this mean you're not going to go on a warpath looking for her? You've seen my mind now---you know the plan?"

"Yeah. You BLOCKED me partly. How did you know---"

"There's a lot of things we need to talk about when you've done what you came here to do..."

She just nods. I let her and Sheridan talk, while I recover from the mind blast. I think I'm gonna be sick...deadass.

"We'll arrange quarters---"

"No. This needs to be done as quickly as possible. I'll wait here, while Mr. Young is with us still. Let's get this over and done with."

This is a bit of a wrench. As there's no way now to let Ivanova tell Sheridan she's a latent telepath, if she just comes in her and Lyta does her scan of everyone.

"Sir, normally I'd agree with Ms. Alexander, but I think she would do with a bit of a rest---she's been through a lot in the last few weeks...well, frankly I think I'm gonna throw up soon."

Lyta looks at me, and I politely shrug and try to hold my stomach in. Sheridan calls in Zack to escort Lyta to quarters. Tells her it won't be a long wait. I look at Lyta again as if to say, don't bolt. I know exactly where you go. After they leave---Sheridan looks at me.

"What did you want to say to me that needed her out of the room?" we're starting to develop a short hand now

"You need to go see Susan. Immediately. Tell her that I sent you to speak about her, and that Lyta is here. She'll know why."

"I hate when you do this...fine. We'll reconvene here in like a half hour. Try not to throw up on my floor."

"I'll do my best sir."

The half an hour passes as I attempt to not throw up on Sheridan's floor. The command staff slowly enter one by one, with Sheridan entering last. Susan glances at me, and I just nod at her. Lyta is brought in by Zack.

"So how--"

"It's already done. They're all clean."

"Why were we..."

Just then almost as if on cue---Talia walks in, saying she was looking to speak with Sheridan. I think at Lyta. Now. Lyta turns and slams into Talia's mind and it's an automatic instant reaction just like on the show. I watch Susan's reaction painfully, I'm so sorry, but this had to be done.

"My God...it's her." Lyta says in shock...she saw this from me but it didn't actually fully register until just now.

"YOU BITCH!" Talia roars and misses wildly as she takes Michael's PPG in one crazy motion

"You're dead. All of you are dead!"

Maybe. But not today.

"Get her out of here." Sheridan orders as she's pulled away

"The Corps is mother! The Corps is father! You're dead, Lyta Alexander! We'll find you! The Corps will find you Adam Christopher Young!!!" she bellows

I shudder at hearing her roar my name with such fury.

"Put her in house arrest!"

The shock reels in now as she gone.

"How could she do this to us?"

"It's not her fault..."

They discuss what Talia may or may not know and I interject.

"Talia knew nothing critical because I had already gone to Captain Sheridan and explained she was the...mole."

Lyta looks sharpy at me now.

"You did nothing to expose her?" Lyta asks pissed

"Nothing is ever that simple damn it. You've read my mind Lyta, as did Talia, but she was never able to decipher what she saw. It overwhelmed her, and I have had my suspicions that the Control conditioning and programming may have protected her from everything she saw. I suspect you...saw a whole lot more than she did, we'll talk later, as I said earlier, the point is though she knew nothing, because Captain Sheridan and I kept her out of the loop on purpose, knowing that today would come."
I turn to the staff.

"I apologize for the subterfuge, but none of you could be compromised. That is why we didn't include you, it was too much of a risk that something might bleed out of your minds, it was a risk even for me that might've happened. So we kept it between the two of us to keep the rest of you clean. For Lyta's scan."

"You're all dismissed. Thank you for coming. Lyta, a word with a moment."

Sheridan and Lyta talk in private. I wait for them by the door.

"I'll escort Ms. Alexander to quarters, sir."

"Very good Mr. Young carry on.

"Are you all right?" I ask

"I could ask the same of yourself. I pushed too much while I was in there..."

"I'm fine now. What did you see?" my Batman voice kicks in

"I saw...you are swept up in something greater than you even know. I saw glimpses of the future. I saw people. Friends and family. Past and present. Thank you for your concern by the way, it's not everyday people are kind to you."

"I know what you are going to do now...you saw it in my mind, but I want you to know that if you need anything, I'm here. You have people here that care about you, even though it seems like they don't."

"You're an unusual one, Mr. Young."

"Yeah you don't know the half of it, and call me Adam."

Author's Note: I know there's a couple of things that happen at the end of the month, I've still not addressed Nightwatch---that's coming soon I promise. The main plot stuff dominates this SI unlike the others.

Lyta and I talk for a good while after Talia is hauled away. I hand her over a coffee.

"So I'd imagine you have questions to ask me. Fire away. I'm an open book."

"Do you know...there are multiple versions of you?" say says while taking a sip from the cup

"Talia told me during our conversation of what she saw. It was the only thing she was really able to decipher, but couldn't give me specifics. I'm still coming to grips that I'm here now. I have no idea how. You didn't see anything in here that would explain that?" I say tapping my head

"No. I am not sure what I should tell you---"

"Don't tell me anything. I don't want to know. That's too---that's too much..." I say silently, and she nods

"We're really fiction...where you come from?" she asks

"Yes. You in particular are played by an actress named Pat Tallman, you're incredibly popular where I come from."

"That makes a change I suppose." she grumbles

"Lyta...I meant what I said in the hallway. You're not alone any more, you will have help here, I will make certain of it, the others will come to rely on you."

Butterflying a whole bunch of the Psi-Corp stuff along with fucking Byron is a top priority for me. I am determined that Lyta will have a better fate than in the canon.

"I saw what happens to me, Adam...I don't really---" she tails off

Vorlon modifications aren't anything to write home about...

"If I could...butterfly this I would have, but it seems to be---"

"Part of the plot, and my destiny." she says bluntly

"Just my luck I meet you when I'm about to undertake...when I find out I'm going to genetically modified." she says as she reaches out and strokes my face to my surprise

I pull back.

"Sorry, too forward. I saw--"

"What you saw---I won't deny, but I'm with someone right now."

"Yeah...I understand. You're one of the good one's Adam. Don't ever let that change, please."

"I'll try not to have that happen."

The two of us talk for a few hours before I leave her. I'll see her again in a few months. The both of us fight to control...urges. I never expected to be this attracted to her, but she understands more than anyone else.

December continues to roll onwards. Sebastian arrives to test Delenn. He stops by my quarters.

"I am told you know who I really am."

"That's right."

Jack the Ripper.

"You are not to interfere in my task."

"I understand."

"Hmrph." he says as he turns on his heels and leaves.

Fucking Jack the Ripper visited me....

I decorate the quarters for my first Christmas. It is still celebrated, as are a lot of the other Earth religions, and of course the multitude of religions from all the species on Babylon 5. It seems a belief in God is a shared universal delusion...but I digress. Kat and I decide to break up. Her schedule is too over the map. We remain friends. I figured this would be the case, it was a thing too good to be true for a while. Kosh then appears.

"You will not interfere in The Fall." he says

"The what...now?" I stupidly ask

"What is to come, in the next few days, before your Christ-Mass...you will not interfere."

Sheridan.

Oh shit. I forgot about that. It's only one of the greatest moments on the show!!

"Kosh...you can not expose yourself this time..."

"It will be done. It has been done." he says

"It sets off a chain of events---"

"Let it be, little brother." he says and I almost start crying on the spot. He has acknowledged me for the first time.

"All right. All right fine. But don't...damn it."

"Yes." he says knowing and turns away from me. I feel a weird...wave of calmness as he hovers away this time. A touch of Kosh? I shake it off and turn down the hallway.

Damn Vorlons.

Sheridan is saved as he was in the episode as I head to Sanctuary and to my astonishment...I see Kosh...in his true form, an angel like being, like what John sees. I expected not to see him, like Londo. Tipping my views on religion. What is this? WHAT?!

"What..." I breathe

The chatter all around me is overwhelming as everyone discusses their experience seeing him. I'm still stunned. Merry Christmas indeed...

While being distracted by Kosh saving Sheridan, I didn't get a chance to keep Warren from dying. The crew mourns his loss and we are shown the first real footage of a Shadow ship. I remember the first time I saw that image on the TV back home on Check Six (Channel Six) and was mesmerized. The Shadows are here. My first birthday on Babylon 5 almost goes unnoticed as I get a knock on my door. The entire year has gone by quick.

"Come in."

It's Michael and Stephen, and Kat---we're still friends despite breaking up, with a small Tiramisu cheesecake.

"Happy second 31st Birthday, Adam. It's not every day someone gets to celebrate turning an age twice in a lifetime."

There's a 31 on the top of the cake and I blow it out. I get a kiss on the cheek from Kat.

"No one should be alone on their birthday...even you luv."

"Thank you. I had nothing planned---especially with losing Warren, I thought---"

"We're your friends now Adam. I made the Tiramisu part from my nonna's recipe. She's probably tossing in her grave that I turned it into a cheesecake."

I laugh.

"Probably, but it's absolutely delicious. You...baked Michael? I know you cook, but I didn't know you bake?"

"Sometimes. I don't usually have the time frankly."

They place the cake on the table and I go and get plates.

"The Captain sends his regards, not sure if he will join us, and Ivanova..."

"It's okay about Susan. She's been avoiding me since Talia..." I tail off

"Ivanova will come around when she's ready." Garibaldi says and I nod

The four of us talk and laugh and I tell them stories of home. When suddenly there's another knock. I go and answer it.

"I believe it is customary to present someone with a gift on their birthday?" Delenn says and Lennier shows me a box, and I laugh.

"Risk...where'd you get Risk from?" The notion of MInbari finding an Earth board game is amusing and bewildering to me.

"Do you not like it? We can get---"

"No. I absolutely love it. Tekash." I say surprising them with Thank you and the three of us bow.

We set up the board game, there are six of us now so maximum amount of players. There's another unexpected knock on the door. I go answer it.

"Commander...I wasn't expecting..."

"Happy Birthday Mr. Young. I wanted to come and apologize for avoiding you. It's just that---"

"No apology is needed Commander Ivanova. I understand what she meant to you---"

"I wanted to also thank you...for what you did, what you tried to do for her, and what you did for me. I appreciate it. Call me Susan when I'm off duty."

"Of course, will you come in?"

"Sure. It looks like you've got a full party going on---"

"Risk. We're just about to start playing...but we've."

"Got too many players. But that'll be fine. I'll observe and advise." she jokes and comes in.

Just as we're about to start and have the board game ready there's another knock on the door. We all exchange glances. I get up and it's...John. Wearing civilian clothing and holding a small wrapped box.

"I hope I'm not interrupting anything. I Just finished up..."

"Not at all Captain. Come in."

Captain Sheridan is at my birthday party. Adam control.

He comes and joins the rest of us at the table. He presents me with the box.

"This is from all of us to you, now as you know from using the one you have---only Earth Force personnel are registered to have one of these, but considering how you've begun your lessons with Mr. Garibaldi here, and have shown some skill with it---we decided that it was time that you had your very own. Happy Birthday."

Sheridan and Garibaldi exchange amused looks as I unwrap the gift box...and there's a velvet box with the EA symbol in gold in it. I open the lid---and it's my very own custom printed PPG. Customed to my own grip. No one can use this except me. I pick it up gingerly, check there are no slugs inside, the power capsule is underneath the gun it's self. I hold it like Garibaldi has taught me too and find myself not sure what to say...

"Don't lose it." Garibaldi says

"Or I'll kick your ass myself. Happy Birthday."

"I won't---thank you. All of you."

"All right...cheesecake Captain?" "Wine, beer, juice?"

"I'll take a piece of cake why not. I haven't played or seen a game of Risk since the Academy."

John starts to tell us all a tale of his Academy days of which Garibaldi and Susan groan but I'm completely fixated, as is Delenn, I notice and smile. The first year has been most interesting so far...but 2260 lurks just around the corner, as Shadows crawl, and darkness descends upon a corrupt Earth. For now though. I am happy. For now...this will do.

Chapter 23: The White Star New
Warner Brothers Discovery Own Babylon 5. For Entertainment Purposes Only. Non-Profit.

New Year's Day. Jan 1, 2260. Happy New Year Everyone---as I recover from a pretty bad hang over. Decided to party at the Zocalo and had a little too much to drink. So now having a really late breakfast consisting of pancakes, eggs benedict, and a pint of Orange Juice. Being young---even in my 30's again---has been wonderful. The vodka was a little too much though. I forgot how badly I react to Vodka. It's truly disgusting, revolting stuff---all due respect to anyone who actually enjoys it, and apparently there were a lot of those people last night. I then come back to my quarters to find my message notifications going off.

"Computer, display incoming message."

"This is Marcus Cole...to whomever this is reaching on Babylon 5. Zagros VII is under attack. We need help." the message is cut off. How did this get re-directed to my terminal?

I shower and change and head to Sheridan's office. Delenn and Lennier meet us there. As I explain the message without explaining the Rangers, Delenn does so for me early.

"So---Ambassador Sinclair has been secretly in charge of gathering and training a force to fight the Shadows? With you Delenn in command of them in this area, and Garibaldi and Mr. Young here as liaisons?"

"Yes. We were waiting for the right time to inform you, Captain."

"When did you get involved?" He asks me

"Ambassador Sinclair made himself known to me shortly after I got settled. Apparently, not very much escapes the sight of Ranger One. Captain---we need to act as quickly as possible to rescue those Rangers. Marcus Cole---the Ranger that sent me the message, is coming here seeking our help. We need to go."

"We should tell Susan..." Sheridan starts but I cut him off.

"Commander Ivanova already knows about the Rangers, sir." I smile as the two Minbari look shocked

"Oh I haven't told her anything. She's just that damn good." Which illicit a smile from Sheridan who knows...

"All right. We're dealing with the representative from Earth Force Intelligence---"

"We'll be all gone while Mr. Endawli attempts to conduct his fact gathering mission. You sick Michael on him..."

Sheridan laughs.

"Okay. I'm convinced...but how are we going to get there.."

I turn to Delenn...I've been waiting for this for quite some time. She has been under going testing the last few weeks.

"We have a way..."

Marcus eventually makes his way to the station and all the previous stuff that happened in the episode before he's introduced to everyone. All of us file into a regular Earth Force Flyer along side the Minbari flyer and are taking to the rendezvous point.

"Would you care to tell us what is waiting for us on the other side?" Ivanova asks Marcus

"A beginning." Marcus tells Susan and she looks at me, and I just smile and nod.

We re-enter normal space and after a few more minutes...we---I finally see her.

"My Rao..."I say

"I'll say." Ivanova repeats

"She's beautiful..."

"Her name is the White Star---and she's yours Captain."

"Mr. Young...would you care to do the honors?" Sherdian turns to me and I blink. I head up to the control station and open a channel.

"This is Captain Sheridan and Ambassador Delenn's party to---the White Star--requesting permission to board."

"Identification is confirmed. You are cleared for boarding. Welcome." the reply comes in standard

We sit back and enjoy the rest of the ride, and board the White Star. I feel all kinds of things boarding her the first time. The same kind of feeling that I'd imagine feeling if I ever stepped foot on the Enterprise. Delenn explains what the White Star is as we're given a tour of the ship. I can't believe that I am on the White Star. It has a kind of---hum to her---and that is because she's ALIVE. Possessing organic technology unlike anything humans have seen before. A hybrid of Vorlon and Minbari technology. We end up on the bridge and see the members of the Religious Caste in their White Robes manning their stations. Lennier offers to translate as I watch Sheridan take his chair, and make no mistake, it is HIS chair. I look around, good thing the Regen Pack therapy has been working, because there are no dammed chairs on here. I'm gonna have to rectify that after this mission.

"Something the matter, Mr. Young?" Sheridan asks me

"There are no damned chairs here..." and he chuckles

One of the Minbari come over to me and bring me to a console off the starboard side and I sit down.

"Plot us a course for Zagros 7..." Sheridan orders as we take off

Chapter 24: The Liberation of Zagros VII New
Warner Brothers Discovery Own Babylon 5. For Entertainment Purposes Only. Non-Profit.

We are on course for the Zagros system. In the episode, Marcus takes a few hours to reach Babylon 5, and then there are hijinks until he meets with Delenn in secret. My memory of this episode is vague, but however that message reached me---accelerated the timeline in our favor. Susan and Marcus begin---the beginning of their---relationship as my heart pangs. I admire the White Star some more, I want to learn how to operate this ship. Not become part of the crew or anything, but at the very least have a basic understanding of how it operates should the need arise in the future. I forgot how fast she is as it's reported we're nearing the system.

"Are the Rangers ready?" Sheridan asks Marcus

"I sent them a message when we came aboard." he replies

"Good." he turns to Susan

"Finished studying the weapons systems?" he asks

"Ready." she responds

"Keep scanning. There's bound to be a Centauri warship around to keep watch, I don't want to get caught up in a crossfire. Let's go." Sheridan orders

The conversation regarding the warship occurs. Sheridan looks at me after he checks out the sensor system.

"Mr. Young? You're not here on a pleasure cruise..."

"Aye sir. They're out there. In fact we're about to get company very soon..."

"We're picking up a disturbance. One ship, unknown configuration."

"It's a Shadow ship." I report

"Show me."

"Shadows..."

"In Valen's Name..."

"They've got to be here for the same reason we are, the Rangers." Sheridan says

"You can't abandon them down there." Marcus pleas

Sheridan looks at me and goes back to his command chair

"I have no intention of abandoning anyone."

"How many more mines do we have to take out before the Rangers can escape?"

"The next three should give them enough time to escape."

"We're not ready for this yet..."

"Then we'd better get ready, and fast." Sheridan says annoyed

"We've come this far...we're gonna finish what we started." he says with conviction

Your father would be proud John. I start to walk closer to the view screen. It is eerie being part of this in reality.

"Continue the attack." he orders

"Aye sir."

I listen to the conversation banter back and forth as the fight occurs as it did on the show. Sheridan pulls the maneuver he does in the show---we have the Starkiller in
command of this ship. The shadows won't know what hit them. Sheridan looks at me and smiles.

"Mr. Young knows what I'm about to pull off...don't you, Adam?"

"Hellava plan sir, but it works."

"We've all gone insane." Susan mutters

"Not yet, Commander. Not quite yet..." Sheridan responds.

We head to the Jumpgate.

"Standby Jumpgate sequence. Ivanova, you ride the jump engines, be ready on my signal."

A couple of moments pass.

"Are you ready?"

"No, but you may proceed anyway." she replies

"Mr. Young...would you like to give the command?" Sheridan asks and I turn around to Susan. Never thought I'd be able to say these words...

"Activate Jumpgate Sequence..."

"Now!" Sheridan finishes for me

"Aft jump engines! Now!"

"Punch it!" Kelvin Pike's not the first to say those words...

We lurch a bit as we go through the gate....and it happens as it did in the show proper. I'm gonna need some ship training in general.

"Everyone all right?" The Captain asks and I nod

"Lennier? Lennier?!" Delenn asks going over to him

"I was just thinking that......in all my years in temple, nothing ever
prepared me for this sort of experience. Perhaps that when this is all over that I will
submit a proposal to revise the program. I think that would be a very good idea."

It's over. We won. The Rangers are able to escape now.

"When we get back sir, I'd like permission to linger behind on the White Star." I ask as we set course back to the rendezvous point.

"Why?"

"When we get back to the station---you will encounter our little visitor, and I'd much rather not run into him."

"Ah...good point. If Ambassador Delenn has no problem with that?"

"Of course not."

We reach the rendezvous point as the four others disembark. Marcus approaches me.

"I never got the chance to thank you."

"For what?"

"You received my message and acted upon it promptly. The Entil'Zha said you would."

"You don't have to thank me Marcus. I would have done it anyways. It's good. We got to this several days earlier."

"Then it is true about you."

"Yeah, I get that a lot. I have a request Marcus."

"Anything."

"I'd like you to train me. Not fully. I understand it takes years to become a Ranger...months to learn the basics, but I'd like to learn how to fight. You're the best person for the job."

"I'm not sure I agree on that---"

"Marcus, you forget who you're talking to..."

"Ah right."

Chapter 25: Matters of the Heart New

I start rethinking life decisions fast as I fall hard on my back onto the deck for the 20th time.

"Marcus...what the hell!??"

"You said you wanted me to train you. You need to learn how to fall properly, or in your wrestling vernacular---how to bump." He says in that snarky Jason Carter voice of his.

I pry myself up off the floor and in the midst of huffing and puffing...

"You're just tripping me constantly with your damned Denn'bok..."

I get up and he trips me again.

"DAMN IT!"

"Showing off isn't doing you any favors, Adam. Until you figure out away to prevent me from tripping you---"
Lennier enters our quaint back lit room area.

"How are things proceeding?" he asks

"More or less the same as when you were here three hours ago."

I lay flat on my back, and Lennier looks down on me.

"You will be an expert at how to fall by the time Marcus is done with you, Mr. Young."

I frown...Minbari humor cuts like a knife. I slap both my hands on the deck in frustration.

"I don't want to be an expert on how to fall...that's Batman Begins bullshit."

"I've been told that when you arrived here, you got your arse handed to you...I'm simply teaching you how to prevent that in the future."

"At my expense...and your amusement."

"Well, that's partly true." He finally smiles and turns to Lennier

"Problem?" he asks as I get up again---Marcus without so much as indicating anything fakes tripping me---which makes me trip.

"You need to learn anticipation as well, Adam. Your knowledge serves you well, but it doesn't teach you how to be ready." he replies as I am once again on the cold deck and stay there for a little while

"It is difficult to say. As you know we have begun to investigate a possible location for the War Council. As of yet, we have not found a suitable place to begin the reno--renovations. Ambassador Delenn was curious if Mr. Young knew where they built the room on the show?"

He looks back down at me. I glare at Marcus.

"If I recall correctly...the War Room was built adjacent to the Captain's office, which I always found to be interesting....since in theory it should have been off the books, but that's where it's built. There's a whole space that links up with another hallway in between decks." I say starting to huff and puff now

I get up and sit back against the bulkhead.

"Fascinating. I shall relay this to the Captain and Delenn. Thank you Mr. Young, Marcus." he bows to both of us before he leaves. Ahhhh Lennier. What to do with you---I catch Marcus about to feign attack again and this time in one fluid motion grab HIM and toss him as I use him to pull myself back up off my feet. As he falls he laughs.

"Good, you're learning."

"Attack can come from anywhere, at any time. That's paranoia but I suppose true enough."

He trips me again with his pike as I swear.

"FUCK!!"

"You still need to be mindful of your surroundings, you forgot to disarm me." he says as this time he offers his hand, I'm suspicious of it but make the decision to take it anyway

"Something is on your mind." he says and I sit down at the nearby table, and catch my breath some more.

"A man named Robert Carlson."

"The person whom you had Garibaldi run through the database the other day?" he asks

"Yeah. He's a mad bomber. Gets hired this week, and starts---well---he starts setting up his bombs. It's a huge mess. A lot of people are killed. He also manages to attach a bomb to the station's fusion reactor. He's quite resourceful for someone with a whole lot of issues."

"Now that you've alerted them to his presence, you've...butterflied this? Is that the word?"

"That's the word, and I hope so. I recommended to the Captain that the various guilds screening processes should be improved, but as he replied...that's quite impossible under the best of conditions, even back home. I am hoping that this is enough."

"There's something else bothering you...you may be able to hide from the others, but...I have some experience in hiding one's self." he half grins

"It's nothing."

"Adam, if we're to train together, if you wish me to teach you, I'm perfectly capable of doing that, but you need to be able to trust me."

I laugh.

"What's so funny?"

"Marcus...I know we just met, but you are one of the very few people in this reality that I trust implicitly. It's....not that. It's...."

"Susan." he says softly---knowing

"Heh. You're good."

"Rangers are trained to be perceptive. What do we do about this then?"

I exhale. I made a decision about this almost at the time I first saw Susan Ivanova, and knew this would be a thing.

"I know your feelings for her Marcus. So I won't interfere. We could be rivals for her, but there'd be no point in that."

"That's very noble of you, are you sure?"

"Sure as I'll ever be that there are plenty of other fish in the sea."

"None like her though."

I laugh.

"No...none like her. When am I going to get a Denn'Bok?"

"You know when...when you are deemed worthy of it by HER." Only Minbari can bestow the honor of having a Denn'Bok.

"Are you ready?" he asks

"No."

"Good. You're learning." In less than it takes me to get this thought out---he uses his Denn'Bok and knocks the chair over sending me flat on my back. That is going to bruise...

"FUCKKKKKKKKKK!!!" my swear word echoes in the room

Chapter 26: Best of Intentions New
Warner Brothers Discovery Own Babylon 5. For Entertainment Purposes Only. Non-Profit.

Eventually, my bumps transition into more conventional training as I gain confidence and begin to learn the things Marcus insists on teaching me. Brother Theo and his monks come aboard the station and are sequestered like they are on the show...since I butterflied Robert Carlson coming aboard, their useful-ness has been rather redundant. I'll have to figure out something for them to do. The War Room begins to be built immediately after Lennier informs Delenn of the location. A hybrid of Vorlon and Minbari technology is obviously used. General Hague continues to function like business as usual, reluctantly taking my advice not to move quickly. In theory this should give the resistance more time to organize properly. They were not ready to move against Clark. Underestimated the kind of power he had---and weren't to my knowledge---aware of his connection to the Shadows, just Psi-Corp. This may end up back firing but as long as no one within Clark's administration or sphere of influence discovers me...we should be okay.

There's surprising a lot of down time on the station...more than one would imagine with everything going on. I continue to work at Doug's. It is a completely different, and separate atmosphere and experience from the rest of the station. It's is own little sports oasis. I have discovered since working here that some versions of the NHL, MLB, NFL, and NBA all still exist. Mars has teams that play in Domes, which would be interesting to experience as a spectator one day. Unlike back home, or even in the past of this timeline, all sports here is governed by SportCorp---who also govern ALL of Boxing, the remnants of the UFC. WWE still exists as it's own entity now. The Canucks still suck, and haven't won a Stanley Cup. Seems my lot in life is to suffer as a fan. Pain. I am called into Sheridan's office, which is starting to become a near daily thing now.

"We have a major problem, and I figure you know how to resolve it." he says as I sit across from him

"Nightwatch."

"Correct. They're becoming a pain in the ass."

"I can imagine so. They're one of Clark's most devious inventions. A organization created to spy and sift out...what the state deems are dissidents. Beyond shameful, really."

"How do we deal with them?" he asks and I grin

"They forgot one key factor with their creation...they're a civilian organization." I emphasis civilian

"I don't see how---" Sheridan begins

"Babylon 5 is not a civilian facility. It belongs to the military. You act as it's Governor and commanding officer, sir."

Sheridan realizes and snaps his fingers.

"Hot damn, that's it! That's genius!"

"You figure it out--sir."

"Apparently not fast enough, of course that's the answer! How though do we implement that now? Before Clark enacts Martial Law?"

"Zack is the key sir, by having someone already within Nightwatch, you and him dupe them into a trap. It MIGHT be difficult to pull this off--right now...we're still at least two months away from when Clark orders Martial Law, and he only does that because General Hague acts too quickly, it seems as if the General has listened to my advice, so we could have more time before that happens. Essentially you get Zack to report to his superior in Nightwatch---I've forgot his name now---that a Narn ship has docked with a boat load of Narns that have come to take over the station."

"They buy that?" Sheridan asks incredulously.

"Yeah, hook, line and sinker. That's always the case with these authoritarian types. They all think they're clever, so they overthink things...usually making solutions rather simple to the problems they've created. It just takes action to deal with it though---and timing."

"Thank you Mr. Young. You've given me more than I could have hoped for."

"Also just a heads up sir....the Ministry of Peace will be dispatching a political officer to the station---by the name of Julie Musante...I'd watch out for her, she's a shark."

"I recognize that snark in your voice now Mr. Young---she a looker?" he asks and I laugh

"That's one way of putting it sir."

Sharri Shattuck. Hmmm....Adam stop. At the time of her guest appearance, she was fresh off of "Silk Stalkings " which I watched occasionally when it was on. She would a year or so later play the mid to late 90's version of Ashley Abbot on "Young and the Restless". Anyways distractions.

"She's going to try and uh...seduce you sir. I also need to be away from her, if Nightwatch or the Ministry of Peace discovered me--"

"Understood. I'll look out for her."

"Is that all sir?" I ask

"Do you have somewhere to be, Mr. Young?"

"Aye sir. I start work in a half hour."

"Oh right. By all means. You're dismissed."

I nod. As I'm on break later on that evening I look up from eating my burger, and see a breaking news report on ISN.

"Tragedy today from Promixa III, as a series of explosions in Crystal City have caused the deaths of 75 people, the person responsible---an apparent disgruntled maintainace worker named Robert Carlson was shot and killed by Crystal City authorities while attempting to escape arrest upon discovery. It is believed that he came to Proxima after being rejected by authorities on Babylon 5. It isn't known yet how he was able to pass security checks upon arrival at Crystal City. We here at ISN give our sympathies to the families effected by this tragedy."

I sit in shock. He went to Promixa III instead? My link goes off.

"Y-Young here. Go."

"You see the report?" Garibaldi says

"Yeah---just now. I'm at Doug's on break."

"I'll be there in fifteen. Adam...it wasn't your fault."

"Yeah. Yeah, I know. I'll see you in a few Chief. Young out." I tap my link and look at the half eaten burger and push it away. I've suddenly lost my appetite.

Chapter 27: Matters of Faith New
Warner Brothers Discovery Owns Babylon 5. For Entertainment Purposes Only. Non-Profit.

On one of my days off it is just around the anniversary of my Arrival now. I spot Brother Theo sitting in the Zocalo enjoying a cup of Cappuccino. I exhale and decide to introduce myself.

"Brother Theo...I hope I'm not disturbing you?"

"Ah. Mr. Young, isn't it? No. Not at all. Please sit."

"Thank you. I'm sure you're wondering why I've come."

"I must admit that yours was a presence I wasn't expecting. What can I do for you?"

"I know you've come to Babylon 5 to study all the religions here. I can respect that. I---" I frown...I'm not sure how to express what i want to

Brother Theo grins though.

"You've come to ask me what seeing Kosh means for you? Haven't you?" he asks

"Yes. I have struggled with the notion of faith, and spirituality over the years. My brother and I when we were young, attended Sunday school, but it was never something we were raised in. I have---most times rejected the notion of God, and yet--"

"You have questions?" he offers

"Yes."

"Having questions about one's faith and what that means is as common as it is for me to be here sitting with my cup of Cap. What specifically did you have in mind, Mr. Young?"

"I know that Kosh was telepathically projecting himself--everyone saw---whatever spiritual avatar appeared to them. I was not expecting to see anything....because..."

"Because you felt like you didn't believe." Theo answers and I nod

"Yes. But now that I have seen him, I've struggled---"

"You are trying to determine if seeing Kosh means you HAVE been a believer all this time and just been denying it." he asks

"Yes."

"Well...I can not speak on that, but what I can say is that I think you believe in Kosh himself...having faith is not just about believing in doctrine, or in an all powerful, all seeing being...it is simply believing in others. You believe in Kosh. I don't think that makes you particularly religious."

"Thank you Brother Theo." I get up

"Leaving so soon? I was rather enjoying your company. Plus I wanted to discuss something else with you." he says

"Oh?"

"Commander Ivanova confided in me about your...abilities. I wanted to talk to you about---"

Ah.

"Brother Theo...I understand about Brother Edward..." but he puts his hand on my arm

"You understand the surface context about him yes...but not the depth. I'd like to talk about the man I know, and then you can decide what you will do afterwards about this."

I see the sincerity and the plea in his eyes. I sigh. A waiter comes by.

"I'll have a French Vanilla please. Light milk."

Plus I can't help but like Theo. There's something about him...

Chapter 28: A Year Already New
Warner Brothers Discovery Own Babylon 5. For Entertainment Purposes Only.

Jan 28, 2260. It has been One Year since My Arrival in the Babylon 5 universe. A year since I was saved by possible death from hooligans, by Security Chief Michael Garibaldi. Before we enact the plan to capture Nightwatch, I invite the senior staff, Marcus, Delenn, Lennier, and Kat to a gathering in my quarters to mark the occasion. Normally I would have invited Doug, Tim, and the staff from Doug's but they don't know about me yet, and I'd rather keep it that way. Zack is not a friend...yet. I cook and entertain and we talk about not work . Sheridan and Delenn continue to become closer to each other.

"This is pretty good Lasagna, Adam." Garibaldi says through mouthfuls.

"Thanks. I learned to cook from my mom's partner, she wasn't a chef or anything but could cook like one. I eat a lot of pasta based foods."

"You must think about your family and friends a lot." Susan offers

"I think about them all the time. Wonder what is going on there, if things weren't like they are on Earth right now, I'd imagine a bunch of think tanks would have get together and work on why this has happened."

Stephen lights up at that.

"Oh yes. There would be symposiums on you! All the greatest minds in the galaxy would likely converge on Earth to study err you---and come up with theories as to why you're here, and how to return you. You'd likely spark a brand new scientific revolution."

"Instead we have a despot, who wants to isolate Earth, and oppress the people." Garibaldi comments

"How'd Clark happen, Adam? Surely you can tell us that without violating any kind of fixed destiny." Susan asks

I look at Delenn and Lennier and turn back to Sheridan and the others, and exhale.

"The Shadows are largely responsible for the events transpiring on Earth. Mr. Morden approached Morgan Clark. Morden is largely responsible for planning the assassination attempt, all Clark had to do was let things happen...and they did."

I let them digest this. Susan will discover this while in the Great Machine in a few weeks time, so it can't hurt to give them this information now. We can't do anything with it.

"I wish you'd arrived two years ago. We could have stopped this from happening." Sheridan mutters

"I've wondered about that. The Shadows are involved right now with many of the younger races. They've been interested in us, obviously for quite a while. I could have helped stop Earth Force One from exploding, and I certainly could have stopped Jack from shooting Michael---" the Chief nods back

"They would have found another way to kill Santiago." Susan states

"But it would have given us time, the knowledge that someone else was manipulating events to their favor, we could have exposed that and had ALL of Earth on our side." Sheridan surmises.

"It's possible. The thing is that the Shadows, Clark, and Psi-Corp only inflamed issues that were bubbling under the surface. It is what that ideology does. Where I came from, we're experiencing it, not to the extent you guys are but close. This was all written as a warning, a lesson if you will, and of course as humans, we never learn from history. We just repeat it, over and over again."

An uncomfortable silence follows as they contemplate my words.

"But we win." Garibaldi says bringing everyone out of their funk, looking at me.

"We win. You'd be a whole lot more gloomier if we didn't win. I've come to know you pretty well in the last year Adam, I know you can't tell us everything for whatever ridiculous reasons you have, and I've come to begrudgingly respect that, but we end up winning. We beat the Shadows, and we win back Earth. I am not so sure you'd be here if neither of those things didn't occur." Sheridan states

"Yes, you do win, both wars, but at the cost of a lot of lives, and a lot of suffering. I've been trying to mitigate some of that, but it's not a given that will still happen just because I have seen it. A lot of hard work and sacrifice still needs to happen. A lot of pain. A lot of change. I will help where I can but nothing is ever guaranteed, especially in war, let alone two wars at the same time, but there's hope. Always is hope."

"Hope alone is sometimes not enough." Sheridan says putting down his glass.

"Sometimes, hope isn't enough. We need to start going on the offensive. Waiting around until something happens, isn't cutting it for me." Sheridan says annoyed

"Yeah. I get that sir. But Clark is too powerful at the moment. If we move NOW---he's strong enough to end any chance of us winning this. We need to build, and our focus for the time being, needs to be on the Shadows."

Getting Nightwatch off of Babylon 5 is a high priority. There could be Presidential backlash from Clark's forces, but I highly doubt that. Nightwatch are goons, and thugs that have infested Earth Alliance and need to be routed out as quickly as possible. Getting them off the station is especially important so we can get around to starting our greater work. Tip toing around them has been annoying to say the least

"Well, hasn't this turned out to be festive." Marcus laments

"It's all right. The Captain asked, and I replied. But it's time to celebrate...me." I say with some snark and everyone laughs except the Minbari.

Time enough to get around to what needs to be done still.

Chapter 29: Ganymede New
Warner Brothers Discovery Own Babylon 5. For Entertainment Purposes Only. Non-Profit.

Sheridan, Garibaldi, Zack, and I begin the early stages of setting the trap for Nightwatch. The War Room's construction continues as I am now given security access to everywhere on Babylon 5. Both Sheridan and Garibaldi have realized now that I'm to be an important part of both wars, and included in the inner circle, then I ought to be able to be privy to everything going on. I'm given daily reports as my lap top device is now highly secure thanks to the Chief. I don't have "ultraviolet alpha" level but Garibaldi has assured me that I have something close to it. Training with Marcus continues when he is on the station. He comes and goes as his Ranger missions take him to many places. Susan arranges to get him an indenti-card. April rolls around as I monitor my increasing stock in Edgars Industries, almost ready to sell. Not quite yet.

ISN begins to report on Santiago's assassination and the Shadows. General Hague has been incommunicado for a while now which has concerned John, but I have assured the Captain that is usual. Hauge acts when Martial Law is declared and that doesn't happen until---

"Franklin to Young. Can you report to Medlab?"

Uh-oh. This can't be good.

"Sure thing. Doc. I'm on my way."

Wearing all black now as I usually do, along with a leather jacket I bought a few weeks ago, I head to Medlab, where my stomach drops. Marcus is there---because of course Marcus is there---along with someone else I was hoping NOT to expect.
Fuck.

"Dr. Kirkish I presume?" I ask and Marcus frowns

"You know who I am?" she asks

Nancy Stafford. Better known for her role on "Matlock" as Michelle Thomas.

"He knows who everyone is. This is one of the reasons why we needed to get to B5." Marcus answers

"You're here because you're going to tell us about the Shadow ship, Earth has."

"Y-yes." she says exasperated.

"I can vouch for her. We'll need to assemble the others."

"Already done."

About a half a hour later, Kirkish tells her story to the others. I sit in silence. Damn. This is the impetus that triggers Clark to enact Martial Law. I kind of forgot all about Kirkish to be honest. Michael tells his own story following hers, and reveals the charred Psi-Corp badge. They all turn to me.

"As I said a few weeks ago, Clark was approached by Morden who asked him what he wanted---he gave his answer, and the assassination was planned. The Shadows are behind almost everything that has gone on back home for a while now, and they're in league with Psi-Corp. I can only assume it is the very highest levels of it."

"We've made arrangements to get you into Minbari space." Sheridan turns to Kirkish

"Mr. Lennier please take care of Dr. Kirkish."

"Of course."

"We've put this off for too long now, if Earth and Psi-Corp are working with the Shadows---this is too big." Sheridan declares

"Captain---if we go do this---it will trigger exactly the events that I've been trying to butterfly. I can't guarantee General Hague's safety, or ours."

John puts his hand on my left shoulder.

"Mr. Young, you've done what you can for us, and I appreciate the hell out of it. But we've relied on you far too much and not taken any risks ourselves. The General is a big boy and can take care of himself and his crew. As for us...I need to think about what we are going to do."

He hasn't made his decision yet. He won't until after consulting Delenn. It has truly begun now. It is out of my hands. Meanwhile Zack should be sowing the seeds of our plan for Nightwatch right about now....I

"Credit for your thoughts." Susan asks out of the blue as we head out of the office

"I was just thinking the reality of the situation is---getting out of control. I hate not being in control of things." I Reply

"Tell me about it."

"You're not mad that I haven't...divulged all of this sooner?" I ask

"No. I think you're trying to do what you think is best for us, and I appreciate it. I also think you've been coddling us---again for the best of reasons, but we need to act on our own you know. I wanted you to know also---you're not alone in this. I know you think you are, that knowledge of yours is a burden none of us can truly understand, but you're not alone."

"Thank you."

We are gathered back in Sheridan's room---thing is I forgot where he and Delenn have their conversation. I think everyone leaves and comes back. Sheridan looks at me.

"We can't allow President Clark to get a hold of a Shadow ship. Whatever the cost is of making sure that happens, is. " I nod as he directs that towards me

"That kind of power, in his hands, could be the end of everything we've worked for. We have got to stop that ship before it leaves Ganymede."

"Swell."

"I Love it."

"How?"

"Delenn and I will take the "White Star" into Earth- controlled space. With luck, we'll find the ship...
...destroy it on the ground before they can activate it. If not--"

"You can't do this, as soon as you open a jump point---" Susan states

"I know, the early warning system will get us...I understand Mr. Young's---and yours--trepidation over this---but it has to be done."

They banter back and forth while Sheridan's decision is made.

"The rest of you will be needed here to cover my absence...Mr. Young that includes you."

I start to open my mouth--

"It's not open for debate."

--and close it.

"I'm leaving behind my Identicard, my uniform...command rank, anything that could lead
back here if something should go wrong. Susan, in our absence, I'm leaving you and Garibaldi in charge of the Rangers. I'd tell you to take good care of the station, but I know that's not necessary."

"I've left instructions in my desk for a cover story if we don't come back. You'll send out my Starfury "and use the auto"- "destruct sequence. Doctor, you'll provide the organic mass
to simulate a casualty. I wish none of this were necessary. But we all knew that, sooner or later, we'd have to deal with Earth. So I guess it's time we got down to business. If there's any way we can come back... ...we will. "

Sheridan and Delenn leave, and I let them. Susan puts her hand on my shoulder in a rare display of comfort. I can not stop this from happening. I need to let go. It is time to begin countermeasures. I turn to her.

"Now...all we can do is wait."

Warner Brothers Discovery Own Babylon 5. For Entertainment Purposes Only. Non-Profit.

Author's Note: I'm playing fast and loose with continuity here. Those familiar or hardcore fans of the show will pick on it. This is intentional. Just easier to write certain things out of sequence...but they'll be addressed or touched on.

Sheridan and Delenn return from their mission, successful. John and I have a private discussion before the events unfold in his quarters.

"I want to repeat what I said before we left, I appreciate what you've been trying to do for us. I've come to depend on you while also---perhaps incorrectly---keeping you at arm's length. We need to fight this thing on our own terms, though, and nothing what you might've done would have prevented Clark's actions. Only Clark can do that, and we know that is never going to happen."

"Yes sir."

"Call me John, when I'm not on duty, Adam. You've earned it."

"We will need you for the important things now over the coming weeks, and months, and hopefully not years. General Hague is perhaps the biggest thing you could have done for us, I know you tip toe around your decisions because you don't want to alter people's destinies, but those decisions are for us to make, and we'll make them---good or bad." He slaps me on the shoulder and hands me a drink. I take it.

"How's things with Zack?" he asks

"We're ready to execute the plan sir. They will be getting orders very soon."

"Good, and the Narns---they'll fill in what we lose?"

"Yes sir...and John...if I might make a suggestion about G'Kar?"

"Yeah?"

"G'Kar can be trusted. He has---been through---a change lately, as we all seem to be going through---he has information that can be useful to us, and will be able to keep his people in line for us. I know it will be difficult to trust him---but I vouch for him. He's a changed man."

"I'll consider it."

It is later on in the day and the ISN report on the White Star attack on the Shadow ship is shown. I watch from my quarters alone, while Sheridan and Ivanova are watching this together. Martial Law is about to be ordered in a few hours time now. Zack should be told by his superior in Nightwatch that they're going to act soon---my link goes off.

"Allan to Young...we're ready."

"Acknowledged. Execute." I say

About a hour goes by and it's an agonizing wait.

"Sheridan to Young."

"Young here."

"It's done. They're in custody now, you're free to roam again." he says, which means he wants me to report. I'd have liked to be present when the plan went off, but I can't afford to let anyone in Nightwatch know who I was which is why I was not around during Musante's visit a few days ago. Too about her being a fascist because---damn. Adam stop. Everything is going so fast that I nearly forgot about the alien probe, which I was able to butterfly nearly at the last minute telling C-In-C it was a trap.

While on my way to I accidently brush by Londo and Lady Morella...played exquisitely by Majel Barrett. I then briefly feel her mind in mind...and she reacts to it.

"Oh...my..." she states

"Ahhhh Mr. Young, I would like to introduce you to---"

"Sorry, Londo, can't stick around. My apologies though Lady Morella."

I shake off the weird flash I saw from Morella...I swear I saw Lwaxana Troi with her arm draped over me and the two of us were laughing about something.

I end up entering C-I-C and see Sheridan and Ivanova looking concerned.

"We received a message from General Hauge, we---"

"It's all gone to hell?" I ask and they both nod

Damn straight it has.

"This is it...this is what I've been warning you about. This is what I was trying to---limit---the damage of. Hopefully he's listened and away from where they track him. The orders from home are going out now to everywhere. Mars, Io, Proxima, the rest of the colonies. It's time Captain."

I can hear Susan's narration in my head as I watch Sheridan's expression change. This is the moment he becomes the Captain. When he addresses C-In-C.

"By now, you've all heard the news. In response to allegations of a conspiracy, against the government, President Clark has declared Martial Law."

I watch the officers in the Pit, their worried expressions. They look at me, for reassurance, some of them have seen me around now. I nod at them. Very soon, the Captain is going to have make a decision about me, and I need to prepare myself for it. Tingles wash over me. I fight off tears as I get emotional about experiencing historic moments in the show.

"Mars, and Io have been given similar orders. Now they haven't hit us yet, but you can be sure that order will come soon. Communications to Earth have been blacked out since 08:00 this morning. Only the gold channels are still functioning, but those are for military business only. I know many of you have family back on Earth. We're doing everything we can to find out what's going on. Meanwhile, I ask you to stay at your posts......and continue as if everything were status quo. We've got a lot of nervous people here and I need you to help calm things down. Some other governments may take this as an opportunity to move against us......so we must maintain combat readiness. Continue the flybys. I want at least one squadron on patrol outside the station at all times"

I raise my finger and show him the number two

"Make that two..."

"Any questions?

"Captain, how did this happen? What did we do wrong?" Corwin asks

"I don't know Lieutenant. I don't know." Sheridan looks directly at me

The three of us leave CIC and Michael catches up with as he reports Nightwatch is secured and they're preparing them for departure. I pipe up for the first time.

"Have you heard anything from General Hague?" I ask

"Nope. If he took your advice, and it's sounding more and more like he is---he's in deep hiding with his forces. Probably on the Rim or in Hyperspace. My guess is they're going to be jumping around a while before they need to resupply or if they find a place to settle. But so far no word of an attack."

"Continue to monitor as well as ISN. Update us on what you find out if anything." Sheridan replies and Garibaldi nods and runs off

We stop walking. Sheridan turns to me.

"It's time to stop hiding. We need to start reacting now, just like with the Shadows. I may have made a mistake by...restricting you as much as I did early on last year. I didn't know what to do with you---and was having trouble with your little reveal about us. That part we're going to have to keep a secret for as long as we can, but are you ready to step into the light? Are you ready to truly make an impact?"

"Captain?" Susan asks

"The kid gloves need to come off Susan. We've invited him into our inner circle, he's more than proven himself. Hell he saved my life at least twice. Saved all our lives with the probe incident a few days ago. He's shown he can take care of himself now, thanks to Marcus', and Garibaldi's training. The others need to know about him, so that we can do the work we need to."

She just nods and turns to me.

"I told you---you weren't alone."

"Susan, I'd like to go to talk with G'Kar. Mr. Young has suggested to me that he will be...invaluable to us in the next few weeks. We'll need the Narn as well."

She heads off to find G'Kar.

"You're going to the make the announcement...aren't you?"

"You've bought us some time with helping to get Nightwatch off the station and before they actually were able to do anything. Those Martial Law orders are going to come in any moment now. Where ever General Hague is right now---he's in no position to help us. So yeah. I've made my decision, the one you knew I was going to make this whole entire time...are you ready though?"

I exhale.

"I'm ready."

"It's time to introduce you to Draal."
