Chapter 27 New
The moment they landed, Cynthia moved the conversation out of sight. Billy and O'Nare barely began their greeting before she redirected them, polite but firm, and secured a private study. The doors shut. The room stilled.

She turned to Ethan.

"Start talking."

No softness this time—just focus.

Ethan didn't argue, but his gaze swept the room before returning to her. "…Before we do, I want Spiritomb out."

"No."

The refusal was immediate and controlled.

"You'll want it," he said.

"You'll explain first."

A brief pause, then Ethan exhaled and reached into his pocket anyway.

Cynthia's posture tightened. "…Ethan."

The Poké Ball clicked open.

Dark energy coiled into form as a second Spiritomb emerged, its keystone anchoring it as its spectral face flickered into place. The temperature seemed to dip, the air growing heavier.

Cynthia's eyes sharpened.

That was not hers.

"Check," Ethan said.

Spiritomb's presence spread outward—not physically, but perceptually, brushing along walls, through objects, probing the quiet spaces between signals. It moved methodically, a slow, deliberate sweep of the room.

For a moment, nothing.

Then its attention snapped to the far wall.

A distortion flickered—subtle, unstable.

Spiritomb pulsed.

The interference collapsed.

A burst of static-light snapped into view—small, jittering, electric.

Rotom.

It shrieked and bolted, phasing through the wall in a flash of electricity and vanishing.

Silence settled in its wake.

Ethan looked back at Cynthia. "…That's why."

She didn't answer immediately. Her gaze lingered on the space where the Rotom had been, the implication settling hard.

They were being watched.

Her expression hardened—not at Ethan, but at the situation.

Then her attention returned to him.

"…Again," Cynthia said, quieter now.

"Start talking."

Ethan exhaled once, like he'd already decided there was no point easing into it.

"Alright," he said. "I guess it started when I was playing with Eevee out in the field near the house. I'm pretty sure I fell and hit my head… hard."

He frowned slightly, trying to pin it down.

"That part's… fuzzy. It hurt, and everything after that kind of blurs together."

Cynthia didn't interrupt.

Ethan continued, his tone steady even as the words grew stranger.

"But when I woke up, I had memories that weren't mine," he said. "Not from this life. from before."

Silence settled deeper in the room.

"I don't know exactly what caused it," he went on, "but if I had to guess, it's either Arceus… or Jirachi. And even then, it's not complete."

Cynthia didn't interrupt. She didn't need to. Her attention had already narrowed into something precise.

Ethan exhaled once, pushing through the discomfort of explaining it.

"Some of it's missing. Some of it feels like I'm watching instead of living it. And some of it just doesn't line up at all."

He frowned slightly, searching for the right example.

"Like I remember being Dawn, the Hero of Hisui," he said. "But I also know for a fact that Dawn is currently just fine in Twinleaf Town."

A beat.

"So that doesn't fit. Not cleanly. Not at all."

"I am red taking down the leader of team rocket, But red is in the mountains and the leader of rocket is still around annoyingly."

Cynthia shifted slightly at that—small, controlled, but present. The implication had weight even if she didn't yet show it.

"I am the champion of Truth, an I am forced to fight the champion of Ideals who works for team plasma. But I also know that hasn't happened yet either." Ethan finalizes everything he said was the truth afterall he played the pokemon games an at one point or another he was those characters.

"And you're certain these aren't dreams?" she asked. "Stories you've absorbed?"

Ethan shook his head immediately.

"No," he said. "They're too detailed. Too consistent. And I know things I shouldn't because of them."

His gaze lifted to hers.

"That's how I knew battle strategies, moves, people—things I had no way of learning here."

A brief pause.

"There are still weird things I just know though. Like how I know Red has a kid. How I know where the Hero of Hisui ended up. How I know Nemona is going to become Champion."

Cynthia didn't move.

Ethan didn't stop.

"Although I learned some stuff from the memories of the hero of Hisui, I know you're going to fight Giratina," he said, "and how our ancestor tried to summon it to capture an avatar of Arceus."

That— That landed. Hard.

The room didn't feel smaller, but the space between them did.

Cynthia's expression didn't crack, but her focus sharpened into something razor-thin, every piece of what he'd said being weighed, tested, cross-referenced against what she knew—and what she suspected.

Because those weren't vague claims.

They were specific.

Directed.

And dangerously close to things that weren't public knowledge.

"…Ethan," Cynthia said at last, her voice losing some of its edge, "I… don't know what to do."

That admission hung heavier than anything else she'd said.

Ethan shrugged, not dismissive—just certain. "I'll do what I can to limit damage," he said. "But it all seems to work out in the end."

It wasn't reassuring.

Cynthia exhaled slowly, forcing herself back into focus. "Do you know the leaders of the criminal organizations?" she asked.

"Of course," Ethan replied without hesitation. "But good luck proving it. Most of them are… important people."

Her eyes narrowed.

That fit too well.

"And you're choosing not to act on that?" she pressed.

Ethan met her gaze evenly. "Acting on it the wrong way makes things worse."

Cynthia held that for a moment, then nodded once, decision settling into place. "I'll contact the International Police," she said, more to herself than him.

"Ah," Ethan replied, a small smile tugging at his expression, "good idea. See if you can get Agent—codename Looker."

So she decided not to have her Togekiss out this time for some reason, even though she had it out the last two times she was questioning him? What happens if she pulls it out and asks him to repeat his story?

Most of it is technically true afterall he played the mainline Pokemon games too.

Honestly a damn good explanation. Wonder who was spying? And yeah it's annoying how so many evil teams are so hard to uproot without fucking over the region.

What happens if she pulls it out and asks him to repeat his story?
Togekiss would confirm his story cause he's telling the truth. He WAS then at some point. The fact it was through a scree doesn't matter cause he was in the driver's seat.

Lol imagine him leaking hes technically seen nearly every one remotely important naked (dang those pokelewds) or the male and female copy oasta about vaporeon
