Amelia, Worm AU [Complete]

You do realize that the office christmas party will now feature a Endbringer Interrupt just as Amelia's closes in on third base?
CUI ICBM launching. Because it just wouldn't be Christmas without nuclear fallout.

Whats your going rate? I usually pay about 0.5 cents per word. If you want comissions, make up a profile of what you charge and what you're willing to write, and I'm sure a few people will pay you!

Then we can make demands of you.
.5 a word? That's an average of about ten bucks a chapter. Or twenty a day.

... Wow, when put like that, I should really avoid leaving my day job...

Seriously, though. When I start writing my original fiction, I'll start charging. Speaking of. Guys, could really use more feedback over there.

Something has occurred to me, In chapter 59 the spider Cuddle Bug was named Snowball, but more recently, in chapters 212 and 213, it has been named Fluffy. When did that change?
I can't begin to guess. Fixed now.

What ever happened to the Zerg inspired turrets
They never had a point where it was a feasible idea.

and hummingbird moth scourge?
Been done. Mentioned in a few chapters. Used in combat against The Butcher.

Amelia, ch 41- Blasto
That wasn't a typo. She was talking to plural dog mutants.

"But if we did try," Saint said, "And if we succeeded in releasing some specific individuals, you wouldn't be especially unhappy, would you?"
Dragon hesitated long enough for everyone to get the before she spoke. "I sincerely doubt the individuals you would release are the ones I'd be happy to see getting their freedom. You associate with the wrong people, Saint."

"There are others, as well," the woman who apologized spoke. "One of my girls was unfairly imprisoned, another needs psychiatric care that we can't provide. The only reason either is still alive is because of my protection. Their freedom is a condition of my involvement."

For comissions it varies from the cheapest I've seen at 4 dollars per 1k words, up to the most expensive I've personally ever comissioned at 1 cent per word.

And I've comissioned a LOT of stuff.

For people like you with regular updates to existing stories, the Patreon model will be better, as people pay you monthly and individually every time you update, this means you get multiple payments for one piece of work. The thing about patreon, is that you need a big fanbase, and you need to update EVERY month, or you lose subscribers fast.

Individual work comissions cost like 30-50 dollars per 5k words, and you only get one payment. Patreon is harder to maintain, but gets you multiple people paying per update/month, meaning more income.

Well, it's not like I haven't proven my ability to update regularly and keep the quality at a reasonable level. (Once a month? Pfft... get back to me at once a day and we can talk shop...)

Still, won't be accepting commissions on Amelia. Writing prompts, yes, but seeing as Worm is Wildbow's thing and I just borrowed the setting for my sandbox and writing experimentation, I won't make a dime off of it.

Use it as a springboard to grow a small audience, however... yeah, totes a thing I can do...

who is Genoscythe ???

Ah, that was what I was thinking of. thought that was one of the actual chapters, heh.

"If it comes to the point where we need your help that desperately, then we've already lost," Chevalier remarked.

"So... see you next Tuesday, then?" Marquis quipped back.
Vicky, on phone: "Mom, I need legal representation again....No I'm not in jail for going overboard and killing someone I could have subdued alive.....again. It's my contract again.... Yes, yes, I know other people have to get good lines every now and then; but it's specifically written in my contract that I get the best lines... No Mom, I don't think this is a frivolous use of your legal talents and skills as a lawyer... But Mom! It was MARQUIS!!! Mom? Mom? You still there?"

Suddenly Brandish shows up in a blur: "WHERE IS HE!!!! Take the best line from MY daughter! I'll litigate him to the depths of HELL!!!"

Genoscythe the Eye Raper was a joke in canon comments by PsychoGecko. Probably quite a pleasant fellow really.
Yes, he was quite pleasant that one time I met him. We discussed politics and religion over tea. Then.... Well I can't quite remember what happened, it's all a bit hazy, but I know I had fun.... I'll just never figure out how I ended up with so much hand lotion on my eyelids by the time I woke up....

Wait a second...eye RAPER!!!

I'll just be in that corner over there crying for the next week or three...

don't worry about Genoscythe, wildbow confirmed he died in the final battle.

Well, this was a bit pointless. So they learned that GU apparently knows about Scion and that certain Birdcage inmates would be willing to fight. But they're unwilling to use it.

always wanted to do that
Was hoping you would :)

We're not that far yet.

OH GOD! TanaNari's writing this as the darkest fix fic. He'll probably survive!

They're still trying to save people from an Endbringer. Most capes are borderline useless in this regard, so letting people out of where they've been imprisoned for being absolute assholes so that they can do superficial damage and then go back to terrorizing people is detrimental, not helpful.

There's also the issue that pretty much no one trusts them further then a normal human can throw Behemoth. That's not a good addition to the clusterfuck that is Endbringer battles.

"... and before I make the next announcement, I want to remind everyone that Pantheon's public policy has always been, and always will be, one second chance. Therefore in accordance with this policy we are proud to announce our newest member, who has changed his cape name, Genosickle the Eye Lover."

This. The ONLY Birdcaged capes that are useful at an Endbringer fight that we know of are Glastig Uaine and Canary. Glastig Uaine for her overwhelming power - it would be like having a second Eidolon. Canary for the morale booster trick Khepri used her for in the final battle in canon. But GU isn't remotely trustworthy atm and no one has even thought of that trick with Canary yet. Though I doubt anyone who mattered would object to Canary being released.

I know someone else beat me to it....but DAMN man, that's got to be the single cruelest thing I've seen said in the thread as a whole. Look back at the thread, see how cruel some of the comments can be...then realize you've said WORSE.

Oh and TanaNari....why did GU refer to Amelia as "The Royal Artisan," when GU's always referred to Amelia as "The Shaper?" (at least I think shaper was the term she's used....)
Because she is an Empress now - Royalty instead of a commoner. Plus she is doing a lot more with her powers beyond healing.

When you the readers start paying me for this, we can discuss your demands. :p
Do we not pay you in Likes? Have we not elevated you to Person of Greatest Likes within this site in a mere pittance of time!? Know your place, sirrah!! :p

*goes to check* Damn, dude, you have more than 4 times as many Likes as the runner-up.

Which--yes, as he says, which will have to be after he switches over to original fiction, to avoid lawsuits.
Lustrum convinced him that I, as the most powerful of the Birdcage, was the most valuable target
I like how a second of thought makes this so obvious. Of course the super-misandrist was going to set up the super-misogynist. Using a woman to do it was probably just icing on the cake.
It is no secret that I have with the nature of the Birdcage, but this would only make matters worse.
Word missing. I have issues*? Problems*?
The more I reread canon and compare it to my style, the more I begin to suspect Wildbow of deliberately padding his word count.
You say that like people can't have much wordier styles than yours. Especially yours, in some ways. My own style is pretty damn verbose, for instance. It's just the way that I write, and is something that I have to struggle against when I'm trying to cut down on the wordcount.

Mmmmmmmmm maybe I'll just omake my own goddamn Taylia Xmas fluff, eh!?!?

I could tolerate an Endbringer on Xmas if it was killed by pantheon -- more fuel for the in-fic pantheon meme engines. But... Khonsu is here in the middle of December lol. Schedule says Xmas will be clear... Unless we get GOLD CHRISTMAS GODDAMIT TANANARI YOU CAN'T DO THIS TO US

While this is technically true, commissioning fanfics is like Torrenting. Everyone does it, and if you get caught, 99% of the time you just get asked to stop.

Like, honestly, pop over to hentai-foundry, every third author has a 'Taking commissions' banner, and most of them are perfectly happy to advertise on their fics 'Commission from x'.

This guy gets plenty of porny fanfic comissions for example, and there are hundreds like him on tumblr and hentai foundry and deviantart and so on.

Hentai pictures of franchies are even more popular, with thousands and thousands of artists taking them.

That's not even including the 'stealth' commissions, which don't get labelled as commissions. You'll never know them from normal fics, but I guarantee you, if you're a heavy reader of fanfics, you've read some.

That said, its still sensible to only accept commissions for original work.

Wasn't the birdcage pretty much designed by Cauldron for this kind of clusterfuck of a situation? There has to be someone in there with an exploitable power for Pantheon. Heck if you don't want o explain things to the public just offer to transport the caged to another planet in exchange for their continued help during the battles. Tell the public that they are still keep in confinement and only released for endbringer fights.

If that was Cauldron's goal, then it's pretty poorly executed. Two thirds of the people who have gone to the Birdcage have been killed, and you can't let anyone out of the Birdcage without letting six Strangers out:
Scarab 25.5 said:
"Thirty six in all," Dragon said. "One in five of the people currently in the Birdcage, almost. Six more could potentially use the opportunity to slip out, through Stranger powers or other malfeasance. Glancing over the notes my artificial intelligences have made regarding the facility, I can guess who some of the cell block leaders would choose to release. No. I harbor concerns about the Birdcage, but this is not the answer to that."
It isn't clear to me why they didn't set up individual cells so that the prisoners couldn't kill one another, and so they could release people individually. Frankly, allowing them to talk to one another and form hierarchical structures is a terrible idea; it means that if you let them out, they're going to form their own groups.

Here's a better plan: Give each prisoner their own cell in the Birdcage. Make the cells totally separate. Make them unable to communicate with each other. Only allow them to talk to psychologists over a remote link.

i think this song is okay for this chapter, this is Fever Ray's "If I Had A Heart" the song goes with all the different points of views of the character Marquis,is he a father trying to get a second chance to be with his daughter,a crime boss wanting to get a piece of the world,A good leader trying to give fellow prisoner a chance of freedom or a guile thug trying to cover his ass so he doesn't get murdered in his cell.

Shaper shard has NOTHING to do with healing. It's the shard the entities use to manipulate it's own structure (this is why Amelia can handle a world-sized Yggdrasil), the perfect bio-manipulator; Healing was an unintended side-effect, and more a product of how Amy chose to use it.
