Gotta say, I am impressed.

Brendan's own Protagonist Energy drew the attention of a legendary who is interested in being his 'mon, and the explanation about Latias wanting to be the special one just like Ninetails is to Lee was quite well-explained.

Normally, it is the SI or OC who somehow gets their attention! :V

Blame spacebattles. Some readers here are icky and LOUD about that stuff. They scared about Lee and Ninetales just hugging in platonic sense.

And in my mind Borne of Caution: Fox Box Snippets (Pokemon) posted in NSWF section a canon for this story.
