Cosmos Quest (Naruto/Lupin III)

[X] Accept

I was swayed by the words "Konoha's woman in Suna or Oto"

[X] Accept.

I'm really hoping that it's not a seduction mission. As a matter of fact...

[X] "As long as it's not a seduction mission."

[X] Decline.

I hate skipping ahead. Stay with the social circle.

Nice to have you back boss-lady.

[X] Decline.
-[X] "If not running out on my friends right now means I spend a night or two in a cell, then I guess you'd better tell the ANBU they've got another prisoner to handle."

Not coming through Asuma, not coming from the Hokage, no prior warning, no details. No matter how skilled we are we've still been in the village army for all of a few months, maybe half a year?

Yeah, there'll be missions where a Nin will have to decide to go in with no info, but this one seems awfully spur of the moment. Comes at a time when many of our friends will need help training too.

And it's Kakashi, Mr. Teamwork and Tricksy Subtle Lessons. Something is up, and it might be the sort of thing Akbar would recognize.

Oh wow, that's pretty good, he said our answer would determine whether or not we'll be in jail, but didn't say that accepting was the choice that got us out of it.

What really decided me is that I don't care if we get promoted, but I do care about the characters we're running around with here.

Like Jigen. Who we've just met again for the first time. Or something, reincarnation really messes with the tenses.

It's so blatantly obviously a test I didn't even bother to give you detailed options. I mean, guys, really? It's Kakashi.

I will say this. The mission is a real one, and if you take it and complete it successfully, you will be made a chuunin. But there's other stuff you give up by doing so.

And also stuff you gain. I'm not an ogre. Probably.

[X] Decline.

Be sure to tell him that It's a great opportunity, and sounds like a great plot hook, but we don't want to miss the end of the exams.

If you want to lay it on super thick, you could away bat your eyes at him and say "but what about my team"

[X] Accept.

Chuunin promotion is done on an individual basis, so "teamwork" is silly since we've done all we can to help them through the exam while we can still be useful elsewhere.
The only other tests I can think of is whether or not we are willing to risk ourselves on a mission with no intelligence, or whether we'll follow orders given by proxy. Both of those questions have no "right" answer, so I'm going with how I think Ino'd probably react if there were no test.

Can I make a suggestion?

Go back and read the past, like, ten updates. Refresh yourself on Ino's state of mind.

[X] Decline.

Yeeeeah I'd rather not skip ahead, and thiers just something about the guy giving the offer. ;)

That and the Decline answer so far has much better logic behind nit.

So you got any personal preference, because it looks like this ones going to close ether way.

Think about Ino's talk with Maito Gai. Her choices and reasons for facing Gaara, certainly seemed to have raised his opinion of her. Who do you think he would have talked to about this?

This is a test and a trap.

Why was it given to Kakashi? Why not Asuma, our direct boss? Why the jounin sensei we know least, who has just proven he can mask his presence? Are we even sure this is Kakashi, not some impostor?
And why would we get this job now? Kiba's hospitalized, and Ami has exams, with Asuma teaching her.
They will have better operatives available, and we've done nothing to be rewarded for; quite the opposite.

I can see several reasons to try and get us out of the village now
1) This may not be Kakashi, but an impostor, out to grab us.
Unlikely, but a possibility, especially with all the strangers in town.

2)Gai pulled some strings to get us out of the village to avoid fighting Gaara.
Two weeks can easily extend to four.

3) They KNOW we're a reincarnation already.
And if Shika can pick up on something between us and Jigenkuro, others can, especially given our fairly obvious Throne convo.
Possible someone's trying to keep us apart, to avoid conflicting loyalties resulting in unwise impulse decisions; the defection rate of reincarnations is well known.

4)Gai has reported our proximity to jinchuuriki information, and the decision was made to try and lure us away from more.
Until the Sand 3 were gone.

5)It's a test of our decision-making ability.
Or more likely, our ability to defer gratification/withstand temptation, and the strength of our loyalties.

This is something to decline, preferably with a writein.
I'll work on something.

That worked out great! And here I thought impersonating the military leader of our xenophobic nation of elite murderers was a hangin’ offense.

Barring thinking of something more fun:
[X] “Not like I've never been in jail, but hey, level with me sensei-" *pause for raucous laughter* "Is this because there’s a real, urgent need for my skillset in the capital, or because you don’t want me fucking with the chuunin exam anymore?” “Yes.” “Cool, I’m in.”

We've never spent a night in the clink.

Sure we have.

The Uchiha took us in all the time, they just could never pin anything on us besides disturbing the peace.

She was so popular down at the police station that she had a favorite cell (good ol' Number 5).

Detained?
Yes.
Spending a night?
No.

I once described one potential outcome that makes the victor unclear to be, "Sarutobi enters the room. He wins."

Apparently it has come to pass. Even via us.

Although impersonating the village leader....yep, that earns you time in the slammer. Under pretenses because you don't let people know that you actually pulled it off (and got your underage drink on in the process).

Honestly, I kinda favor accept, but I also like the mission being given. That said, yeah, obviously a test, and probably not even the pass/fail kind. More like they win no matter what, and they get a better handle on us in the process.

Although we are Sasuke's anchor and Kakashi cutting us out from under him....yeah, okay, I can see how this is a boon to Sasuke's social development. We were and are his emotional anchor. But now he isn't alone and he has a support group. By taking us away he's forced to lean on them and become a more well-rounded person.

Still a dick move. Certainly short-term. But Kakashi.

We've met up with a LOT of great people to make future connections with though. Kankuro, Gaara, Kibi, Temari (okay the Sand Sis entirely). It's valuable.

But we're a goddamn infiltration specialist and we AT LAST have a mission tailored to our esoteric talents served to us on a silver platter. And probably continue that "Meet Ino's Mother's Parents" plotline.

So yeah. Undecided, but if you put a gun up to my head....

[X] Accept

And we try to keep it at two weeks and under.

It would be a kick in the balls to lose out on Jigen interaction. And really, what would be more important than our proven track record with insinuating ourselves into the heir-apparents of a rival nation? Maybe the Takozono.

Way I see it, this mission is good for Ino (the work she loves to do) and Konoha (keeps the ace sleeved). Staying is good for our many and myriad friends.

Eh. I do believe Kakashi is trying to keep Ino away from Sasuke for a period of time and force him to reach out to other people. And that wouldn't be a bad thing in and of itself.

One notable hole in that assessment is that the assignment can last only two weeks, and the chunin exams is in a month. So we can have our cake and eat it Potentially.

....And use our position to drum up more audience.

Didn't he propose to us last time that happened?

Decline HARD.

I already made my suspicions of their motives clear, and I would not be surprised to find out that this two week long mission gets an extension when we're in the field.
We have too many once- in a very long time opportunities currently going on in Konoha to go running off to the capital.
I was trying to come up with a cool write-in, but I can't get into Kakashi's head.
