MC's first encounter with a "Rock Lee" type he mentioned once before. Did the Gyarados pushed through the limit of their potential by swimming up a waterfall as a Magikarp?

An awesome chapter. I cant wait till Ma Ma finally evolves. And sweet K Rools turn! Wonder if this is the battle he becomes a Krookodile in? And yeah that Gyarados is an inspiration.

I really like the letter rank being a representation of a level cap. One of the cleanest "system" implementations I've seen.

Very curious about the Gyarados. I'm wondering if a clan's specialized training can make it surpass it's limits, or maybe there are other factors that can effect the letter ranking, like disease. For example, I don't think the system would be able to 100% predict whether a Pokemon is going to get the setting equivalent of cancer in the future. There are too many variables for an accurate prediction unless we're getting into prescience.

He's probably gonna bring out Golett or Krokorok in the hopes of powerleveling one of them with the weakened Gyarados. It will probably trigger one evolution.

kinda applies to all magikarp and Gyarados since their based off the fish leaping through the dragon gate and being a dragon
 
I didn't see anything in the thread about rare candy being illegal drugsm giving rare candy to a worthy gyarados makes sense to me, doesn't matter if game mechanics are known. Or using whatever plant is used to manufacture rare candies.

For all we know, rare candies decrease potential while boosting levels. Or they could just increase levels temporarily, and this gyarados is boosted by a regular supply of them- noticing and making the most of the small bit very real boost.

Honestly I feel a bit bad for any gyarados that trains in Blackthorn. Two out of three Dragonaire and Dragonite will have an electric move. They are agile enough to dodge. And I bet they have some standard strategy if, by a miracle, a gyarados drags one underwater.
 
I'm just picturing a fragile magikarp swimming past groups of tentacool and seagulls taking on more and more damage till it tackles one to death repeats the proccess then has a shounen evolution fight scene
 
Like the story just found honestly this world seems to be shaping up into the one where team flare or one of the other teams wins which well isn't the best shall we say lol.
 
I am really liking this story. I am very glad you mentioned it in your last Gamer in South Blue Chapter, otherwise i probably wouldn't have found it (i don't know if there is an option for being notified of new threads).

What i like most is the balance between enjoying Pokemon for their uniqueness actually using viable Strategies (but not to the Point of Munchinkery?) and introducing Aura without it becoming a major part (like i know that the muscle Gym leader form the Dynamax region is as part of her lore strong enough to wrestle with the Machomp line, but Pokemon should be about the Battle itself not how the super special totally not SI is strong enough to beat the living Dragon, because of their innate Awesomeness).

Will there be more impact due to the lack of a movepool limit?
I am not a competitive player, but even i know that the key part of strategy is to balance between set up moves like buffs, debuffs and entry hazards and getting enough type coverage that deals enough damage or special useful moves like Thousand Arrows, while this particular Universe really allows the right trainer to nigh always use the optimal move in any given Situation.

Smeargle for example seems like it suddenly becomes one of the most op Pokemon ever because it can learn EVERYTHING (except for perhaps 2 legendary exclusive moves from Darkrai and Hoopa), so why wouldn't a trainer spam spore and mean face and then literally set up with every possible move and then batton pass to a Mega-Evolution/Dynamax/Electro Terrastalizing Shedninja wearing an Air Ballon or a Pokemon with the Attack Power Trip to hit with a Base Power thats more than triple that of Explosion.

I don't want that level of Munchkinerry because that seems incredible boring, but especially in the world where everyone is obsessed with Pokemon Fighting there is bound to be a few bullshit strategies of even just Movesets Combination like Mortys Haze and Ice Wind Combo that seemed really promising.

Also will there be outside POV's? I am actually curious how the rest of the world sees Bradley meteoric Rise from Dumbass Run of the Mill Trainer to actually competent and smart Conference Winner(?) Especially his Strategies (Life Orb with Sheer Force etc.) Or maybe just Lori's view on the former dumbass.

Anyways i am eagerly looking forward for more content.

There's also the possibility that in universe sketching a move is harder than seeing it once and copying it. There's also Smeargle's fairly lackluster stats to consider, along with how you go about training in the vast amounts of moves that you could possibly learn. There's also that you also have to FIND someone with those moves, which for the more common but restricted moves might be easy, but good luck finding a Darkrai for Dark Void. Like, I have no doubt you could make a Smeargle SUPER viable in a realistic world, but by that same logic, you can also make just about ANY pokemon viable in a real world where you're not limited by Game Mechanics, like the turn based system and the 4 Move Limit. It's just about figuring out how to train said pokemon to do what works for it and pushing it up to elite levels. Hell, Hyper Training is a thing, so you can't even say that you need to restrict them by their IVs, because you could take a pokemon with IVs of 1 across the board and with specialized training bring them up to par with Specially bred pokemon. As well as Egg Moves no longer being limited by actual breeding, what with how you can now teach them via holding a Mirror Herb, which in a more realistic world, just means that you need special tutoring with the compatible pokemon.

So yeah, in a 'real world' you can bring ANY pokemon to competetive levels, it's just going to be RIDICULOUSLY difficult to bring something like a Pichu to beat a Garchomp, so even if you TECHNICALLY are capable of it, it's going to take a frankly ridiculous amount of work and resources.
