I imagine having a Legendary on your belt isn't unheard of, but rarer than even an Alpha. Possibly kept secret in many cases too.

Don't take this as pure gospel, I'm mulling some things over.

But my current thinking is

EX: Arceus
SSS: God Legendaries
SS: Big Boy Legendaries.
S: Lower Legendaries
A: Sub-Legendaries

'Mythical' Pokemon (since that's apparently a distinction these days) would be divided up in the bottom three categories. Except for Phione. That trash gets 'B'. At best.

Pretty sure this is a mix of anime and game world so the list of people that are known to have a legendary on their team include:
Tobias with darkrai and latios
A random background trainer with a heatran
Brandon with his regi's (wonder if the mc's registeel was the same as the one we see brandon use)
Pewter nurse joy with a latias
And depending on where in the timeline we are maybe gladion with silvally and goh with suicune
Edit: also noland kind of but he hasn't actually caught articuno

Wow wasn't expecting to see him get one of the Regis but I love it. Not many use the Regis at all so I can't wait to see what personality you give it. Also what reaction to him having a sub legendary cause if it shows on his trainer page. Kinda surprised you didn't give him a Ground type Regi fakemon.

Well that got depressing fast. At least he will have the rest of the team to help fill the void. Especially Simone. I bet his fellow Golem will be a massive part of getting Karn active again.
 
Yeah, if you're going to make an exception to the 'ground pokemon only, no girly fairies allowed' rule, an A-rank Potential steel-type tank-archetype with stats that rival pseudo-legendary and an ideal Ability like Clear Body would be just about the top of the list.

Plus Ground/Rock/Steel has always had significant thematic overlap, and Registeel in particular can learn at least a couple of powerful Ground type moves, that the MC can help perfect.

As for most unimaginative cave name? Definitely Dark Cave. 'Rock Tunnel' is actually somewhat helpful and slightly distinct. Since caves can be made of rock, stone, cement, obsidian, earth, mud (partly), various metals (iron, nickel, titanium, etc.), ice, and so on. But nearly all caves are dark, unless a light source is brought into them. Very redundant/uninformative name.

That makes sense, so SSS would be: Weather trio, creation trio, and aura trio, and ultra Necrozma. Does anybody else reach that level of power lore wise?

SS would be most of the other box cover legendaries along with Mewtwo and genesect. Maybe celibi gets in there because time control is insane.

S I could see stuff like the latis, strong mythicals like Victini, jirachi, darkrai etc.

A would be the the regis, birds, dogs, loyal 3, sivally(which I still don't think is an actual legendary), maybe the lake trio as well since they're not very combat focused.

Totally agree on Phione 😂
 
I wonder if any of those hundreds of Unown had actually decent potential instead of D or lower? I mean not that it'd help them. They're Unown, even an S rank Unown is still the equivalent of maybe a C rank of something actually decent. But maybe one of them was secretly the Unown King.

Actually it would've been funny if instead of a normal Potential ranking, they just had their letter. They don't exactly have potential on their own, only when working with others. If the S had shown up first instead of second that would've been a real surprise.

When they advance to their Mega/Origin forms Id give them that, but otherwise I'd place them one rank lower. Most box art Legendaries I'd label SS if I had to sort them all right now. Creation trio probably the only exception for lore reasons.

Just gotta give him a nice coating of dirt and dust. Please ignore the robotic beep bopping and don't give him a bath. It would be super effective after all.

That's fair. At that point they do go from just making some sun and rain to no other weather shall exist while I'm around.

Aura trio is definitely deserving though, life, death, and the 100% zygarde being a Captain Planet kaiju.

Most box art legendaries could be argued to be gods, zacian and zamazenta for example could be argued to be war gods
 
I thought the letter ratings were growth potential, so legendaries could be strong but might have actually be lower ranked like an A or a B, strong because of species but that particular one (not that they would know without out of context knowledge) being kinda weak for its type.

Like a C or B charizard is usually gonna win even against an S rank raticate assuming equal training and such, just because its a charizard vs a rat

I'd personally be a bit careful about ascribing too much credit to xerneas and yveltal. How much they do vs how much the weapon they get plugged into does isn't all that clear from what I remember of the games.
