  • Since it has happened MULTIPLE times now, I want to be very clear about this. You do not get to abandon an account and create a new one. You do not get to pass an account to someone else and create a new one. If you do so anyway, you will be banned for creating sockpuppets.
  • Due to the actions of particularly persistent spammers and trolls, we will be banning disposable email addresses from today onward.

Since the discussion here in @Scopas s of thread: https://forum.questionablequesting....ding-the-recent-anti-nsfw-content-bans.26468/ got locked and I complained about it I got advised by @ultima333 to start a sequel thread here.

This is for the discussion of censorship in all ite forms, primarily focused on written fiction and spicy legal content.

This is to include all forms of censorship, be it direct or indirect(e.g. via interference with fully legal commercial activities from payment processors.) or forcing you to cough up your face, biometrics and national ID to shady non-EU companies to buy a Rias Gremory Daki or watch porn as well as stripping people of anonimity via buggy age verification crap and trying to guilt or shame or inconvenience them.

The discussion is to also about fully legal ways such problems can be bypassed.
This bypass included alternate payment methods including but not limited to various forms of crypto.

No illegal activity is being condoned by this OP.
Only legal, consenting adults involved activities and are in scope.

This is a global scope thread, so the UK id nones e, chat control and the DSA are all in scope as is the OS level fingerprinting nonsense are all in scope.

Discuss.

I want translators to stop changing the translation to fit Western sensibilities.
Hopefully improved MTL tech and growing awareness in Japan will soon make all the western middlemen and censorious so called translators irrelevant.

Ther and I never understood why Japan doesn't nearshore that work to the Philippines, where there is a sizable anime community and the locals are fluent in English.

Cheaper and probably better quality work right next door.

What pisses me off is attempts made by the censorious scum to force censorship at the source.

There's a real balance between protecting users (especially minors) and not going overboard with restrictions or invasive checks. Different regions are pushing it in different directions, so it ends up inconsistent and confusing.
For most people it's just about finding platforms that align with what they're comfortable with, rather than trying to fight every policy change.

How do minors get on the internet?
The same way they gamble, thanks to some dumb adult's negligence, usually their parents or other relatives.
And there are the schools that can't discipline them or won't ban then from social media or smart phones and other mind rotting slop.

It is not social media, there was Jack shit of it, or streaming sites like onlyfans and the hub back in the day.(Quality wise porn was a lot better and had higher production values, though, so yeah...)

We could still get porno mags and beers by slipping a hobo some money and later via various P2P software that was supposed to be illegal.

I am sorry not sorry parents and schools nowadays are lazy, ineffective and stupid and that they produce completely out of control brats with no sense of self preservation or no self control.

Not my fault, not my problem. I certainly am not parenting anyone else's kids or suffering even a minor annoyance because somebody else was too dumb or lazy to use a fucking condom.

Although a lot of this is actually happening because of the sirtbag politicians wanting to crack down on descent and free speech and their parasitic security bureaucracies want a justification for their continued existence and more spying powers.

Fuck them all too.

Yeah I'm heavily opposed to virtually all forms of censorship. Let people enjoy what they want as long as it's not legitimately hurting anyone else.

It is somewhat ridiculous to think that along with AO3 QQ is the last bastion of free speech in the nerd sphere (though if I'm missing some platform please let me know).
Especially in that QQ has avoided the trap of "no politics, buuut my politics don't count as politics, it's just basic decency."

Though I have noticed signs that QQ has started tilting towards a political bias and that quickly brings about other forms of censorship too.

I can only hope that users and mods alike can come together and keep this place actually free and not a mockery of it like SB, SV and other places have become.

I don't think it is the last bastion, there are still lots of free speech platforms and places, they are just going under ground, to Matrix servers and session and telegram groups.
And of course we have the various chans, but their lack of persistence and absolute anonimity can be off putting and you really can't conduct a long term meaningful conversation. BUT THAT IS TRUE FOR ALL SOCIAL MEDIA.And no, I don't consider forums to be social media.
They are also a corrupted relic of an older better time.
