Governor's Gambit - Star Wars SI into Imperial Governor

The network didn't expect the druids, the suicide run or the orchestrated attacks on Imperial institutes and personnel, but Darna's report suss activity app managed to probably thwart several attacks and bombing attempts that were suppose to be part of this debacle and the better training of the law enforcement, PDF, and expansions into the workforce like actual first responders, medical professionals, etc actually helped ensure that fatalities are that low. People get really angry when you fuck up their bag.

Their For Glory account was temporarily banned at the moment because apparently calling a Mon Cala seafood was 'against TOS'. Fools.
Ew. Truly the rebels have it right to destroy this madman. If I can't call a 12 year old chinese kid the N word and threaten to kill their family over making me lose a videogame, then why am I even playing? The wild early days of xbox live are something we'll never reclaim with the draconian free speech destruction instituted by the empire.

I agree with the policy of no racism as even though you gain happiness from other people suffering. It is still not okay to be racist. There are better swear words than outright racism.

So, uh…. Anyone wanna bet on a false flag? I'm tempted to make jokes about how everyone in the thread might be drinking Kool-Aid, but I'm ultimately uncertain of the possibility.

The Commando Droid might be indicative that the ones behind this attack might have greater access to resources and probably outlawed military hardware than Rebels ought to. I'm thinking a rival planetary Governor, or perhaps a rival to the Moff that Mola works for?

If the droids succeed, not only is there still a PR win for the Empire, with Mola having been a good Governor, there would be the "success" of removing a rising star that wasn't aligned with you.

If they fail, then PR victory for the Empire, and there's an opportunity to get in that rising star's good graces by offering support against those dastardly rebels. At which point, you can either find a way to make him work for you, or establish a better opportunity for the "Rebels" to come finish the job.

It was more a joke about how things were in the early 2000's online when it was the wild wild west where anything goes as far as interacting with others as long as you weren't hurting anything but feelings. Mute still existed, but people didn't get banned for calling someone an asshole. For clarities sake, I will say I do not actually go around looking for people to call the n word, as that seems to be what you took issue with. It was simply one of the many things you heard whenever you got into matchmaking before you either muted or grew some thicker skin and enjoyed the sheer absurdity of what people said for the sake of being outrageous. It was always a matter of freedom, not a matter of people taking offence. I'm going to assume you didn't experience internet gaming when it was young, and move on.

Legally Acceptable Manhunting New
Omake: Legally Acceptable Manhunting

POV: Lord Nox Nob, leader and financier of the RIII mercenary company Lord Nox Nob's Hunting Party, Ugea, Minda system.

Lord Nox Nob will always appreciate the tingle up his spine when his CR-20 lands to signal a Hunt. The fantastic landscape of the Ugean hinterlands displayed before him. An open invitation for a proper gentlemen to Hunt something, like a civilized sentient.

Nox dismounted the dropship astride his beloved Lady Copperbottom. Replacing the top turret of the Droideka Mk II with a saddle had prevented the roller function from working. Yet it was for a good cause as it allowed Nox to have a fitting steed to leisurely chase his prey once the legs were reinforced.

"Tally ho Hounds! Let's make this a thrilling Hunt!"

Watching his HKB-3s fan out in mathematically precise patterns will never not put a smile on his face. Personally Programming their hunting protocols into his Central Control Computer back at base was well worth the effort. What they lack in personal accuracy, they more than make up for with their pack tactics and ability to scare up the prey for the killing blow.

"Our targets are Rebels, Hounds! Expect more excitement than the recent Hunts!"

When the Guild announced the bounty on these Rebels, Nox couldn't get off Edin fast enough. Oh don't get him wrong. Flushing out and netting petty criminals and the odd pirate who thought they could hide past the borders of civilization did represent a certain kind of challenge.

However these Scarred Hands were just too lively of a target to pass up. A prey that would not only fight back, but have a cause to believe in? Trying to ape the art of droid herding he had mastered? Jolly good fun! Especially when the Guild emphasized their ambivalence between dead or alive.

"You all know what that means! We get to break out the fun toys!"

Gone were the M-300 Hunting Rifles. No need for stunners here, no sir! In their place each of his Hounds were carrying a MR-90 Proton Rifle. Ready to mark and suppress those pesky Rebels whenever they poke their tiny little heads out.

Normally ruinous overkill for any other mercenary company. Yet for Lord Nob Nox it is a mere rounding error in his corpulent investment portfolio. Speaking of expensive…

"Banks? Banks! Fetch me my killing rifle."

Banks was such a good chap. A FLTCH battle droid gifted by those pleasant Colicoids. It is such a treat to speak with like minded individuals. Nox should send them a meat basket as a gift along with the next shipment in their business endeavors.

+Here is your instrument of murder, sir. Happy Hunting.+

Banks' binary heralded the reveal of the star of today's Hunt. A customized and ornate DLT-19x targeting blaster which Nox cradled in his arms. Just imagining calculating the firing data while peering at the Rebel's face through the scope before completing the equation of death brought tears to Nox's eyes.

"Heeheeheeheehee. Hee. *gasp* HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAA! Alright lads! Let's Hunt some Rebels!"

——

The inspiration for this one was wondering what sort of characters would accept the Guild's inevitable bounty to publicly hunt down the Scarred Hand remnants. Someone scary but a tad silly who could be a villain of the week in a Star Wars cartoon. The result was Lord Nox Nob, a Muun investment banker and droidsmith who likes hunting sentients for sport so much it makes Trandoshans uncomfortable.

The best part about this whole situation that idk if I've seen anyone say yet is not just that this was live, or that he faught back like a badass, but he did NOT have his helmet. The rebels have no way of saying that this was a double taking his place, it was all him, practically impossible to discredit him now. Thank the force for Mugwuffin too, no one knows what he does. With his abilities acting in the background, it makes Las look even more cool hahaha.

How this live broadcast looked from the other side gotta be crazy. The governor acting goofy and patriotic only to lock the fuck in.

He shoots a Droid, dodges shots by Inches, CATCH a grenade and throws it back, shoot into a random corner and HITS A COMMANDO DROID, and makes a call checking if everyone else is alright.

GOATED IMPERIAL LEADER. Just aura farming while hiding a panic attack
(Tribute to the heroic, and secretly panicking figure in an imperialistic empire, the Ciaphas Cain of Star Wars!)

Las, Las, Las Mola! Hero of the Empire!

Las, Las, Las Mola! Hero of the Empire!

Originally was going to include a scene where Kaela fought the assassin droids, but then I thought of the sparring scene and now I'm all pooped out on fight sequences. Way harder to write than I thought, so any advice on that end is greatly appreciated.
...
I don't think we really need to see every fight. Especially if it's not a critical point in the plot and we've just seen the character fight. It worked much better by skipping an essentially meaningless fight in my opinion.
I think fight scenes either need to be pivotal plot points, where the result will have an impact on the plot moving forwards, possibly throwing in a twist, or show character development. Either showing what a character has learned, or having the character learning something important in the moment. If it's just a fight scene with no plot or character development, I don't see a reason to write it, or read it. It's just battleporn at that point and a slog to get through as a reader.

*Sigh* I miss the good old days, when you could say the most heinous shit imaginable and get it thrown back in your face, fully knowing it's all in good fun and not having to worry about offending some snowflake.

Yes, it's better to insult them for being one-handed, one-eyed with advanced arthritis who can't even shoot an attacker at 20 meters with a bazooka. You don't have to use racial insults, just talk about how even someone with only one arm with 3 fingers could play better than them.

"How the fuck did Las fail military school?! Were all his teachers bribed or something?!"
"I didn't fail combat class or anything... I failed the part where you used your soldiers' corpses to fill enemy trenches to attack a position... strangely, that part was 70% of the passing grade."

Ok, that is actually pretty funny, got a real good chuckle out of me , both because that is exactly what I would expect out of a sith gamer as well as because it actually makes sense that xenophobic language would definately be forbidden in a good functioning multiplayer game community.

Combined with an odd, if small connection to the dark side,

Yea, i love this because nowhere near enough stories mention how all normal people in star wars still have the force and use it subconsciously, letting some of them perform above the average as a result or getting "a bad feeling about this" vibes

Remind me again how many clones are counted among his citizens?

A large amount taken from the homeless clones scattered across the galaxy but I'm sure some of the ones who had an actual retirement might be petitioning to transfer to a world under our goveners command.

Seeing what appears to potentially be a resurgent CIS Remnant is going to get alot of clone blood boiling to nuclear levels, Especially when they are using the same kinds of terror tactics from the clone wars that cost them so many of their brothers.

Yeah, what appears to be a resurgent CIS Remnant, but again I say to consider how many droids there are and how easy it is to acquire then, either from old dead ships, disassembly lines, scrap yards, black markets, the more shifty imperials and old military depots that never got hit for whatever reason, and then to consider how many groups would want to see Minda get kneecapped and Las out of the picture.

To alot of people the scars from the clone wars still linger, it doesn't matter where they got the droids to the people of the Greater galaxy but what they did with them.

Old wounds we're reopened with this attack, The hatred for the CIS that a good chunk of the galaxy has rivals that it has for the Empire.

It's made even worse when it was done to the Imperial world's working as intended bringing Peace, security and prosperity. They targeted the world's giving a slice of the good old days before the fall of the Republic during the clone wars with the forces of the major enemy in that conflict.

No matter which way the greater rebellion try's to spin this they come off as not only the bad guys but also aiding unrepentant CIS Remnants willing to get right back to their heinous work from the clone wars like nothing happened.

Guess the question is how much of him fighting back ended up being aired? He's panicking but it sounds like his security service's stoped a lot of it.

Unlike many empire worlds his governess isn't just about stripping worlds of there resources for as much profit as possible. Instead he has been building his planet up and chiefly most of the people are quite happy with his work. Overall there is very little room for the usually playbook the rebels use.

Oddly this would make it MORE likely for the rebellion to try and assinate him since whoever replaces him would just make the situation easier for the rebellion.
