Governor's Gambit - Star Wars SI into Imperial Governor

Bloke should just accept it, he's gonna be the future Emperor of the Imperial Remnant at this rate. May as well abandon all the stress about escape and throw yourself into it headfirst, pen and paperwork in hand! He clearly has the talent to succeed.
Once everything is settled down, just retire/abdicate early and put someone else on the Throne.

In the early chapters there were a lot of interesting TIE derived designs that popped up regularly. But then they stopped (I understand narratively that most were novelty projects and unuseful).

But with this chapters mention of the modified strike class medium cruiser and a new ISD variant, I now want to see interesting ISD derived designs to show up. Whether they are better or worse.

Heres an example of a "Fixed ISD" the design is by EckhartsLadder but this image is done The Argonaut on Deviantart but I came across it on Reddit

I think its based on this video

That and they were on sale. But that one called Thesis on the Dichotomy of some tale or another seemed interesting enough.
Oh no... ohhh nooo, don't do it Las, you still have so much to live for.

Edit: I unironically wrote that as soon as I saw the text before I finished reading the chapter... lol, that he ended up going that direction for an entirely different reason is actually really amusing to me

You can actually just toss regular granulated sugar in a blender and make it yourself. Google says you might want to add a little corn starch to prevent clumping, and to keep the blender closed for about four minutes to let the cloud of fine particulate sugar settle out of the air.
Coffee grinders work even better for things like this.
If you don't have an old grinder, check around on garage sales, or thrift shops. You can get a working electric grinder for nothing.
And then just grind normal sugar into powdered sugar.
Grind normal salt into popcorn salt.
I even ground Oat bran into flour with it.

To be honest, the Humble if somewhat elderly Victory class Star Destroyer line would probally be a better option for Las to put into production, an imperial class ISD is roughly 150 million credits, the Victory I and II are 57 million apiece, so getting 3 Victory class Star destroyers for 171 million sounds better than a single isd, not to mention needing a fraction of the crew while retaining signifcant firepower, fighters and defenses and that they have a class 1 HD means their faster than an isd, could also supplement the victories with Venators to bolster the fighter forces using them as assault carriers

would it be cheaper for him to just fix the failings of some of the republic ship designs and just modernize them?
Depends, the victory I is perfectly fine as a defense ship for planets, Vic 2 fixes the Is slow engines, but the isd has already come into favor so it wasnt as widely adopted, its an excellent ship however, and using the venator as a carrier with some long range guns is how it should be used, rather than using the venator on the frontline
Edit- semi automates Dreadnought heavy cruisers are another decent capital ship option

Made apple fritters today. Was alright. Prolly needed more sugar, and a proper glaze at the end but I don't have powdered sugar. I do have sugar and cinnamon though, so I just tossed em in that.

Imma make chili mac next.

Thanks for the chapter
You can make powdered sugar by mixing one tablespoon of cornstarch for every cup of sugar.

Regardless, since these are the people in charge of making the shipyards ships more efficient and less costly, I figured giving them a check in is a decent idea. See if theres anything I can do for them, since their some of the most important people under my employ currently.

Gotta keep em happy
Don't want em to pull an Incom after all.
Refocusing on Yop, I stopped him for a second. "Sorry, Director, for the interruption, but my curiosity is killing me. What is that ship up on the projector? It reminds me vaguely of the Strike-Class but something's off."

His eyes seemed to light up a little bit. "Oh, I didn't think you'd recognize it!"
Love how most of the people near the top recognize Las is primarily a civilian leader, not a military one. Most Moffs and Governors are so keen to project themselves as military strongmen. Probably makes Las' fairly hands off style in military matters a breath of fresh air.
"But why produce this variant? The normal Strike-Class is plenty fine as it is, and this custom variant doesn't seem to add enough value to justify the work needed to build it." I say, hoping to cut any inefficiency at the roots. Though, I don't order it scrapped just yet. Yop at this point has proven his competency, so I trust he has a good reason.

"Well sir, that comes down to the TIE launch bays" He states, furry hand clicking around on the hologram terminal.

The projection shimmers as an x-ray view of the ship appears, with a series of tunnels and hangars highlighted in red.

"The mechanism allows for TIE's to be launched and landed with ease, not to mention shunted through maintenance and refueling before being put back in the launch bays. The thing is, most of this is in fact overengineered. Whoever designed it seemed to want to impress the Advisor more than build a good ship."

"However…"he says, pressing a few more buttons as I watch the projection shift again, this time to what I presume is their modified blueprint. "We were able to remove the maintenance section entirely, which was the biggest expense since it was fully automated and very complex, instead focusing on expanding the tunnels for larger TIE variants and only allowing refueling. This, alongside other simplifications, allowed us to drastically reduce the cost of production."
Sounds like the Eidelon II is going to be perfect for Myto. A cross between a cruiser and carrier as a kind of do everything generalist.

A dedicated battleship might be able to outfight the ship. However the Rebels rarely have anything above a frigate level, especially up north. No way in the Force are they going to risk their very few Mon Cala Cruisers sending them to Las' area.
Turning, Yop examines closer before explaining. "Thats one of the designs for the New-Class project, sir. Its a side project run on simulators where our design team gets together to design new ship classes during their off time. They aren't finished, and they jump from design to design almost constantly, but it's good for their mental health. And they also often run into data they can apply back to their actual work."
Minda's R&D collecting a toolbox of little design ideas. Very useful when you are given a procurement contract and have a cache of ideas to draw from.
Aside from that, I work through more reports as per usual. Stuff like Guild reports on piracy rates, reports from the financial analyst team on Clok that has slowly been making more and more money, and even profit reports from Edin! It took some time, but now that Belt Haven asteroid station has been fully converted after being sideline for other infrastructure. With it, trade is increasing and so is profit. Very nice.
The periphery of Las' domain continues to grow. The sign of a good administration is when all the boats rise.
Quite the decision. One that will put me in the position of Moff. One that will subject me to more scrutiny, to more eyes, more blades and blasters in the dark.
Must be really grateful you were able to nationalize HAVEN huh?

Suffering from success indeed, bro is doomed to rule the galaxy as the most beloved Emperor in history, for the Force wills it.

Also can one of you lovely people jog my memory, as I'm drawing a blank of the whole "Thesis on the Dichotomy" thing, I know that I should know it but my brain is refusing to play along.

You don't want to update old republic ships, they were very under gunned and under powered for the most part.

Besides, the empire actually had decent support classes(that will require the Mad scientists of Mola to improve a bit) it's just that they didn't always use them

Opening it, my eyes widen, my jaw drops, my head starts to ache, and my soul starts to curse whatever cruel god hath put me here.

Hiral. The Moff. He was promoted to Governor-General of the Oversector by Kaine. With barely a few years as Moff under his belt, truly a momentous occasion. And while the message doesn't outright state it, in a few months once he's settled in he'll be choosing a successor, and I'm candidate number one.

Quite the decision. One that will put me in the position of Moff. One that will subject me to more scrutiny, to more eyes, more blades and blasters in the dark.
I love how he is Failing Upwards each time, it's soo fun to see.

Plus he is going to be a top target for elimination for the Rebels as he is one of the few imperials that is really good and delivers the promise of safety security, order and prosperity. And the fact slaverly is outlawed properly in his system and soon to be sector.

Man I really want to see a Vader POV about this impressive Moff. Or Las pov of being scared shitless 😆
