"Ylana and Sodal were the gods that created the world. Their very bodies formed it. Lika husband and wife they loved each other dearly, and their love and passion gave the world colour, beauty, and grace.
But Sodal died. Murdered by the darkness. His rotting corpse is home to its corruption now, and so our world has become grey and bleak, and full of evil.
Of Ylana the kind nothing is left but grief and fury. It is that grief you feel when you look upon the crawling wretches who embrace the darkness, and that fury you carry into battle to purge them from the world."
good point, made a small addition to the opening post.May want to put in a little warning this is in the SFW section, not the NSFW like prior one.
- Excerpt from the introductionary chapter of the alchemists primer to ritualistic powder consecration by Valenhag Gorendis, Chief Alchemist of the Serentis Guild of Alchemists."When it was discovered that blasting powder could fuel a new kind of magic unto itself, it shook every cabal and coven and order. The simple ability to throw a lead ball further, faster, harder, directed by the will of the mind, seemed so simple at a glance. But those in the know and those that first witnessed it firsthand would be swift to realize it's potential course amidst the war against the Darkness.
And much like the first advent of human magic, every realm of demihume or nonhume that acknowledged this new power sentenced any human showing so much of a hint of powder-sense to death."
A worrying message found scrawled in the old drainage tunnels of an abandoned keep by investigators, what the message might be reffering to is still largely unknown."By the light, the tunnel leads to a whole nest of them! That's where they've all been disappearing too! It must be huge!"
"Acolyte Valerie. As you don the armour of the sisterhood, reflect on the choices that have led you here and reaffirm your vows.
Acolyte Valerie. As you take up the arms of the sisterhood, remember your training and reaffirm your vows.
Acolyte Valerie. As you receive the blessing of our lady hold fast to your purpose and reaffirm your vows.
Thrice have you reaffirmed your vows, and thrice have you been heard. You are now a full member of the Sisterhood."
- Tian Gorendis, legendary founder of the Serentis Guild of Alchemists. Long before the widespread use of blasting powder Tian experimented with alchemical incendiaries and explosives. Later, he was named Saint Gorendis for using said research and sacrificing himself in a massive conflagoration to make sure an insidious plot by the corrupted to infect the entire city and nearby trading post with the Black Slaughter Fever would be purged in its entirety before the infection could spread beyond hope of containment."Up until now, I had been searching for ways to achieve the Final Work. To finally be able to create the impossibility that is the Philosopher's Stone.
"It was until the day I was in my most lowest, after I've lost a dear old pal of mine that I finally got struck with an epiphany.
"All this time, the answer is right here all along. The stone is not an object, it is supposed to be us. We are the Final Works we're looking for!"
"You see how the Yagarite ore turns greyish and more transparent in this area? As we all know Yagarite is remarkably conductive to the currents of magic, and as such, unless warded and refined properly, also susceptible to hold accumulations of the darkness.
Tainted Yagarite will leech that darkness into its surroundings, corrupting anything it touches over time. You can often identify corrupted Yagarite deposits by the fluctuations in the ambient magic and, more importantly, the presence of mutated fauna and flora even near small deposits."
"Sir, how common is it to find corrupted Yagarite Ore deposits in the wilds?"
"It is of course hard to say how widespread the corruption in the uncharted wilds is, but an estimation posited by the faculty of exploration indicates that somewhere between 5 and 30 percent of the Yagarite ore remains untouched at this point."
A monologue taken from Democritus Dalton Donald Oppenheimer seconds before turning the hidden stronghold of corruption, [The Profaned Maw] into a radioactive wasteland. He later on became the Grand Arch Wizard of Atomomancy, Lord of materials, Creator of the greatly feared and respected Nuclearmancy branch, he also wrote the [Tome of M.A.D spells]."It took me ten years to get the hang of Atomomancy, but at last, it's worth it. The physical realm is now mine to reshape. My first grand act? Getting rid of all these molds growing inside my new home, before I'm off bombing those foul creatures responsible for this into high heaven!"

- Mantel Mantesta Marragatis, high administrator of the golden vault, double recipient of the order of the valiant eye, and one cold hearted bastard."Technically speaking, Don Javier. Money is, in truth, not actually yours. It's just your turn to spend it."
"By Ylana, the Hive is built around an entire vein of Yagarite! No wonder the basterds are so huge and vicious. And those were just the scouts and outer guardians, I really don't want to know how those that dwell further inside must look. Oh gods, the Hiveking is probably corrupted."
"I will trample even the most mightiest of demons if it means I can prove you wrong, father! For what I lack in swordsmanship, I make it up with my fists and kicks!"
– Excerpt taken from Chapter Nine of Codex Historica Magicus, written by Wensel Hugelberg, a kobolt historian of the Principality of Urnsir. Adopted and beloved by the noble house of Hugelberg, Wensel grew to become the most well-known historian and archivist in the Principality. Outside of his profession, he has a passion for music and cooking."Despite mass prosecution by the Realms, the Orders, and general suspicion by the populace, the number of Powder mages in the world would steadily rise despite their culling. Blasting powder simply could not be suppressed, it was too vital for mining and fueling cannons that at the time were essential to warding off gigantic Darkness-tainted beasts. Even when the Orders began issuing commands that gunpowder weaponry as a whole needed to be suppressed no matter the damage it would cause to the defense of the realms, such commands were issued far too late even if the Realms were inclined to obey.
The emergence of the first Bomb Witch coven would be recorded as the point of recognition of failure to contain this new and unknown field of magic. Officially that is."
- Titus Neborasser, high general of Edur. One of the first military commanders to officially sanctioned and promoted blasting powder for use in warfare and defence, and even use special tactics to take full advantage of its potential."Despite mass prosecution by the Realms, the Orders, and general suspicion by the populace, the number of Powder mages in the world would steadily rise despite their culling. - Gerry Findas of house Jannis, teaching his son Haarsus a bit of the simole pleasures in life in the rare times when Haarsus returned from the from lines.".....After shredding the well-marinated turkey mushrooms, coat them in yolk before putting and tossing them around in a bowl of seasoned flour. Shakes off the excess before dipping them into a pan of hot lard. Fry them till crispy golden brown, and once that happened, strained them out of the pan, let them cool off a little and then serve them with rice and cheese sauce."
– Chief Hamilcar Bloodfeather of the ogre clan of Dudukam. Also known as the Taker, his pact with the darkness had given him the ability to "take" anyone and anything he and his tribe plunders, corrupting and binding them to his will. Amongst those "taken" by him is the Far North, a place once belonging to the elves before being forced to migrate down to the West."Hahaha, we have breached the gate! Now men, show them the meaning of wrath. We'll break the final stand and then you can kill any who resist, take the pretty ones, and plunder to your hearts content!"

"No~"
- Captain Drew of the Iron Maiden to one of his shipmates named Vostos Quinellian. Managing to survive and escape from the fall of Emerald Bay thanks to the Serrelotjo Fog Fever, the Iron Maiden spent 8 days travelling through the Blood Sea, hopping from islands to islands till they reach their destination: the rumoured Sanctuary said to have healing energy capable of expelling any diseases."So what do you think Vostos, do we have a chance? Or should we make a break for it now, and hope we get to the sanctuary before it's roo late..."

It's the middle of summer! How are we supposed to get to castle Rassith to relieve the siege in time now?"
-Daraiha Ivana Vestralia Anatalski, notoriously difficult slave actress in the great theatre of Mensix'kalish to her Master Lethartiv Kalvess. The island of Hazad Ve of which Mensix'kalish was the capitol was ruled by the Liz Kalah Fal who were ruthless slavers. It was tradition there that the arts were performed by slaves as a way for their masters to show off their wealth and sophistication while they themselves would focus o other pursuits. Indeed it went so far that it was a taboo for free men and women to be involved in artistic projects at all, and near all art, from paintings to poetry was performed by slaves. Accomplished artists were highly prized as slaves, never the less, their lives were not easy."THERE ARE 8.1 MILLION NEURONS WITHIN THE HUMAN BRAIN, YET NONE OF THEM CAN TRULY HELP ME IN EXPRESSING EVEN A FRACTION OF HOW MUCH I LOATHE YOU AND YOUR CONSTANT ABUSE! YOU, AND THE ENTIRE SEVEN YEARS OF TREATING ME LIKE A DOLL AND A STRESS RELIEF! YOU, AND EVERY TIME YOU FORCE ME INTO ROLES AFTER ROLES THAT I DON'T EVEN WANTED TO BE IN! I COULD GO ON, BUT I RATHER NOT WASTE MY TIME TRYING TO LIST DOWN THE SHITS YOU'D BEEN DOING TO ME SINCE THE DAY YOU SNATCHED ME FROM THE STREET!"
– Commander Leonidas Karsonnen II, to the disgruntled group of soldiers who were very much done with the whole war. This dialogue happened during the Nine-Years War, a devastating battle between Eson and Hazad Ve, that led to the highest number of casualties since the Serrelotjo Fog Fever pandemic."Lay down your arms and surrender, this rebellion of yours is pointless and doomed to fail. Even if you were to win here, we have bigger threats to worry about! The shield has collapsed, the reinforcements won't be here in time, and Lord Halfag and Lady Brayfell have betrayed us. If we don't do something NOW we're all going to die!"
- Letter found on a dead messager by Havlock Fannatis in the Grustonian ice wastes left in the wake of the Learnian cataclysm. The messanger was torn appart and mangled beyong recognition, most likely by some mutated monstrosity haunting the wastes, although even those usually do not leave their victims in such a state. Fannatis did his best to discern the meaning of the letter but could not decide if it was a great revelation or the ramblings of a madman. From what he knew there had been clans that had always been regarded as strange in the far north a long time ago. Never the less, he set out to find this Anatoly to deliver his father's final words to him, better late than never.Dear Anatoly,
If you're reading this, then it means that I'm truly dead. Morbid, I know, but that's not what we'll be focusing on. No, what we'll be focusing on is something that gives my dear old pal Samion the motivation to hand you this letter right now: your power. So please read carefully and don't hesitate to learn more about the secrets that I'll be revealing to you right now.
Anatoly, we're not from around here. From Grustonia, as well as humanity. No, we are the last members of the once great Desosko Clan of sky spirits. Powerful, we once were; the very heaven answers to our call, as the weather, the Sun, the Moon and the Stars above follows our every whim as if we're conductors to the grand orchestra.
"So what might have changed?", you're thinking right now. "What led to us go from the sky to the Earth, to hide amongst the humans for so long?"
The answer is simple: we were all betrayed.
One of our clan leader's daughters, Revona, was discovered to be in cahoots with the Darkness, alongside other traitorous few from each mighty clan throughout the Far North: Isar Lightfoot of the Winterfall elf clan and Hamilcar Bloodfeather of the Dudukam ogre clan. We were too late to stop them. Isar turned virtually every animal into mutated monstrosity, Hamilcar used his dark gift to turn his entire clan into puppets of his will, and Revona?
I spare you the exact details of what she did to the majority of our people, but if I were to summarise, she did to them everything that'll make even those vile lowlifes at Hazad Ve flinch in utter disgust. Either way, the Golden Age of Desosko Clan is over. All of us, both sky spirits and snowy elves alike, migrated ourselves away from our homeland all the way to here, Grustonia. Forced to glamour ourselves in human disguise and spent only our divine mother Ylana knows how long learning the way of humanity. Up until now, we've been living as humans ever since.
So for you to be given this message means that the wheel of change is turning again. The Darkness is getting stronger each day, and you are one of our only hopes. Others like you, beyond Grustonia, will follow you suit, and together, the world will be saved, and thus, Sodal will finally be avenged.
I'm sorry, Anatoly. I'm sorry that you have to be thrust into this mess. For several times, I'd gouged our seers if there's a way besides this, to spare you such fate. But the seers spoke only truth. Painful truth, but truth, nonetheless. So please forgive me, my boy. Forgive me.
From the heart so wrenched,
Dad
– The final conversation between Sister Vitvavia and Sister Shamina, both of the Sisterhood of the Great Spinner. After a few weeks, the treasonous Sister Laerith was found once again, standing side-by-side with the Storm Witch as they and the other creatures of Darkness dances around the bonfire made of unborn fetuses. Fast forward after the battle unfold, Sister Vitvavia finally put an end to Sister Laerith by decapitating her. Meanwhile the Storm Witch flew away."Sister Vitvavia. I charge you with a most solemn duty. Find the traitor and deliver our justice to her. Go to the ends of the earth if you have to. You are unbound from the tennants until you return. Do what though must, do whatever is necessary.
And when you find her, don't shoot her in the heart. She has none."
"It will be done. The traitor will die."
"Oh, just in case it wasn't clear. That wasn't metaphorical. Sister Laerlith claims she might literally have no heart anymore..."
- The History of Sage Anatoly the Mighty, Act 3, Scene 4."So that explains everything in my life: the clouds protecting me from the raging sun, lightning storms smiting anyone wishing to harm me, the stars somehow able to speak to me of how to get to me destination safely..."
"Wow, Anatoly. I didn't think that all of this is true. At first glance, I thought your father is...y'know, a little eccentric. But to think that you're actually a spirit all along..."
*Anatoly looks out through the window and closes his eyes, imagining a nice rainy weather. In an instant, rain begins to appear out of nowhere as it pours down nicely over Anatoly's property, just a several miles away from the capital of Grustonia*
Professor Rayyum Haal-thum to his partner Professor Jallas Kessarah as they oversaw what could only be described as Edur's greatest and most successful thaumaturgical experiment ever: the creation of the Goron Gate. The Many World Theory were initially thought as a hypothetical thought experiment at best and a hogswash at worse. However, thanks to the duo's contributions, the theory was proven right and in return, they received the Medals of Enlightenment a few days later. Amongst the different worlds they've discovered and made contact with are Shemu, a desert world populated by the descendants of the survivors of an ancient war; Egon, a realm of wonders and light overrun by mystical beings both benevolent and not; and Sehar, a technologically advanced dimension where one can see gods walking among mortals, and are referred to as "superheroes"."By Sodal, it works. It goddamn fucking works! I knew it! I knew it! Haha, look at this Jallas, look at these results! We were right all along!"
Master Rank Explorer Elizia Ka-Ori to Eren Hart, on one of the first missions crossing over the Goron Gate to Sehar."What is that?"
"Oh, that's what we called a hamburger"
"That looks like a gourmet version of our Isicia Omentata....may I have some?"
- Anatoly the wretched, the fearless, the god touched, the nobody. Leader of the Fearless Five."...Did you not hear those men call me fearless? The Darkness has ensured I have nothing left to lose."
"YOU LIE! WE SMELL THE FEAR WAFTING FROM YOUR FLESH."
"Yes. I do feel fear now."
"YOU WILL TELL US! YOU WILL TELL US WHAT MAKES THE FEARLESS FEAR!"
"Did you not see those men? I now have something left to lose."
– Karl Malone, upon seeing Johnny Ryland stumbling into the perimeter of his house. Karl and Johnny had been best friends since the Raid on Kelton Bay in the southwest of Shemu, but were separated during the terrible Balatrian Civil War. With them finally united after so long, the great winds of change flows through the dunes of Shemu."Ho there! Friend or foe?
I'm warning ya, there are three arrows and two muskets trained on tha head! One wrong move and-
Wait, John? Johnny Ryland? Is that you? I haven't seen you in ages!"
