Images Borked

Let's see if FreeImage.host is working again...

Edit1: Yes! Seems like freshly uploaded pictures work!

Your second and third images are working now. First one's still a lost cause.

I tried with another browser and Nonna looks fine.

It appears you can no longer insert images from rule34 on QQ. All you get is a "Image cannot be loaded from the passed link" error, does anyone know if there's a workaround for this?

That's probably not related to the image proxy. When looking at the image on r34 are you copying the page url or right-clicking and copying the image link?

Right clicking to open in a new tab, then copying that url to insert. Just tried the page url and it didn't work either, though.

Honestly, I suspect it may just be something on Rule34's side; there seems to be a new Captcha that I've been seeing a lot of, and that may be part of the issue. Was just kind of hoping there was some sort of work around.

I was wondering if you were using the page url since I know people sometimes try that (and it would give the error you mentioned). Honestly not sure mate, I just tried a few different pictures and they all work well. Are you sure you're copying the full url? This is heading a bit off topic for the thread though.

I'm getting the whole url, though I've also tried deleting the string of numbers after the .jpeg. Doesn't work in either case. If it's working for you than it's clearly on my end, probably a browser issue as I use Tor Browser.

Uh, there shouldn't be numbers after the file extension in the first place. So that's definitely something on your end not QQ's.

Can you post a link to the image you're trying to embed?

Sure. Trying to post the image first, I just get an error, but as for the url itself:

Not the first picture I've tried this with, but a decent enough example. Pasting it into the address bar works for me, as does deleting the question mark and numbers at the end and following the link, but trying to use the insert image tool just gives the error message.

I mean, works for me on my end. Is the image above showing up for you on yours?

I just clicked the 'insert image' button in the text editor, pasted the url, and boom, worked.

The ?-then-numbers at the end of r34 image links are the original image's number in their database. It's actually really helpful, since it lets you find the original image on their site, from a purely image link. The ?-then-numbers is added on when you access an image from the post's page, and acts as a reference to it.

Using the url just given:
https://wimg.rule34.xxx//images/1710/0c0d5ab0b37039b936c0df82a1886073.jpeg?13367242
13367242, in this case, is the image's id number.

So:
https://rule34.xxx/index.php?page=post&s=view&id=13367242
would be the image's source.

I can see it. I just can't insert it. Which prompted me to just use IMG and brackets which actually seems to work.

Which is...kind of weird? I mean, it's fine, that's an easy enough work around to use, but it does kind of make me curious why the button doesn't work but the BBcode does.

I mean the button is what I used myself, so no idea what's going wrong for you. The 'insert image' one, between 'insert link' and 'smilies' on the text editor on my end, is what I used.

Yeah, I'm doing the same thing, the button just doesn't work for me. Really not sure why. Still, at least I have a work around now.
