Kill Six Billion Demons

Well......On one hand, Alison is displaying actual agency unlike the first book where she pretty much just flailed around and screamed while everyone else dragged her all over Throne.

On the other, wow. It's like she's trying to get all of the requisite "Bad Ideas" out of the way all at once.

Spin the wheel and laugh at god!

For some reason, I'm vaguely reminded of that scene from Fate/Zero where Saber, Iskander, and Gil had a combination drinking contest/philosophical debate.

Something I vaguely hope happens here because as we all know, alcohol + philosophy = WIN

I find it really interesting that devils can apparently go down on the metaphorical power ladder as well as up.

When Vladok said that his power was old and waning, I figured he was basically going "Oh, look at me. I'm old and weak, and you can totally take me."

But given that red devil who mentioned that he used to be gold before it "grew old and shrunk", that may mean that he wasn't completely bluffing out Alison.

So maybe devils have to do the occasional "maintenance" work on their names to keep their power and can't just rest on their laurels after getting to Ebon.

Also of interest, Oscar mentioning that Cio "looks good in blue." Meaning she probably dropped down there from a few rungs up the ladder. Way back when, White Chain mentioned that Cio had once stolen a Magnus Gate. I've always kinda wondered how a blue devil could have pulled something like that off. But apparently, she wasn't always blue.

And as a side note, with the general metaphysics behind devils, I'm sorta wondering if you couldn't slot them into the Wyld. Possibly replacing the raksha.

After all, the emphasis on names and gaining them and through them, power, reminds me of how raksha are supposed gain power from their own stories.

The Devils do indeed remind me of the Raksha....

Otoh, the Angels remind me somewhat of Spirits in a sense.
