Manga Rec Thread

I can only add to the recommendation.

Though the sequel sadly isn't as good as the original. And the anime has some weak parts but is still kinda neat and while there were changes here and there is surprisingly close to the manga storyline from what I remember.

Yeah. I personally didn't read the manga cause it was the period where I didn't even know mangas existed. It was anime for me. No internet, no knowledge. Gotta thank Animax for being a lifesaver.

Things were a lot different back then huh.

Also forgot. Baccano is another must watch. The English dub is just phenomenal.

Tearmoon Empire Story - The Reincarnation Reversal Story of the Princess, Starting from the Guillotine

Surrounded by the hate-filled gazes of her people, the selfish princess of the fallen Tearmoon Empire, Mia, takes one last look at the bleeding sun before the guillotine blade falls...

Only to wake back up as a twelve-year-old! With time rewound and a second chance at life dropped into her lap, she sets out to right the countless wrongs that plague the ailing Empire. Corrupt governance? Check. Border troubles? Check. Natural calamities and economic strife? Check.

My, seems like a lot of work.

Hard work and Mia don't mix, so she seeks out the aid of others, starting with her loyal maid, Anne, and the brilliant minister, Ludwig. Together, they strive day and night to restore the Empire. Little by little, their tireless efforts begin to change the course of history, pushing the whole of the continent toward a new future.

And why did the selfish princess have a change of heart, you ask? Simple—she didn't. She's just terrified of the guillotine. They hurt like hell, and Mia hates pain more than work.

Lazy, selfish, and a complete coward, the ill-equipped princess of the Tearmoon Empire, armed with memories of her past life and a diary from the future, tries to avoid dying at the guillotine again and changes the very course of history in the process!

Gave it a try. Quite funny. And while she remain a selfish brat that try to save herself, it's hilarious how it thus force her to do things she would rathe rnot do to avoid her Bad End.

The snark narrator commentary is also fun.

Oh yes, Tearmoon Empire hits all the right buttons for me. I keep rereading those chapters.

Frieren at the Funeral
Frieren is a member of the hero's party that defeated the demon king. Both a magician and an elf, there is something that separates her from the other three members.

...I got a severe case of feels here. And probably have a leaky roof, because it's raining inside somehow.

At any rate, I'm interested to see where this go. Even if I know more feels will happen.

This one is really nice find. If it was normal manga uses to much time skips, but I assume that is intentional to show us similar felling of how time passes for elves.

I come bearing offering:
Kengan Asura
Kengan Omega (sequel)

Great action and characters. (Almost) Everyone has an understandable and sympathetic motivation. Binged the entire series in three days and I'm left wanting more.

Also, did you know that those two share universe with Danberu nan Kiro Moteru?

Has anyone read the arguably best gambling manga that ever graced the manga industry yet: I'm talking about Usogui - Lie Eater by Saki Toshio Sensei.

Prepare to have your eyes pop out with anticipation, plenty of sleepless nights glued to the screen, and a bit of dehydration too. Remember to drink lots of water to energise the brain just to keep up with the chapter events.

It kinda remembers me of Maou-jou de Oyasumi, which is about a princess being kidnapped by the Demon Lord and not actually caring because she just wants to laze around and sleep all day. And then she starts terrorizing the demon lord's people by cutting the tail off a fluffy demon to make a pillow etc...

Terrifying little monster that girl is and... oh my goodness they are at like 150 chapters by now.

I forget the name of it, but one of the reincarnated villainess manga had the MC be the Secret Boss

MC-Chan: If the heroine and her harem are going to try to kill me, I should train myself to be the best possible. The game had a lot of RPG and grinding mechanics that I loved *is a gamer girl who likes leveling and finding items and grinding stats and only entered routes so she could unlock the RPG mechanics*

*Spends over a decade delving into a dungeon with no warding or Rez items and blowing on the "Come kill me monsters" whistle alone and murderblendering until she is Max Level*

MC-Chan: Okay, canon is happening now. What will happen then?

Heroine Chan: Lvl1 I'm going to seduce all the Boys!

MC-Chan: Lvl99 I am going to ask the King and Queen to let me ignore politics and stupid noble stuff and be the beat stick that destroys anyone that invades the kingdom.

I know I have seen this general plot a lot, but I just love the concept of a gaming maniac who loves grinding who just plain doesn't care about anything else and basically sells her murderstomp skills to get to ignore normal fantasy stuff.

The sad thing is that I'm pretty sure she'll end up having to go down the route of the normal mangas, but the idea of the Romance Maniac fumbling around while the RPG maniac just ignores flags sounds amazing

Does anyone have a Harem manga with an honest to god Harem? No will they won't they or which one will he pick (even if it obvious that it will be the first girl) or other bullshit. Like is there at least one with a Harem that goes all the way with multiple girls, preferably at the same time?
Kanojo mo Kanojo has been a pleasant surprise so far.

This one? Villainess Level 99 ~I may be the Hidden Boss but I'm not the Demon Lord~
Ah, that one. I found it hilarious how she trained, then realized what was the normal level she should be at (and knew there was no chance she was in that range). And bid goodbye to a peaceful life when her level was confirmed.

Not sure what to offer.

Blue Period is an awesome piece about arts. Has your typical hangups when you're one of the many joining the stream in an everchanging current of the art world. Also has good advices all around when you have no idea what to do at art.

I have something new to offer!

Looking up to Magical Girls (NSFW WARNING)
Alternate link if Mangadex still continue to be crap for you.
Hiiragi Utena, a girl who loves Magical Girls, lives her ordinary everyday life wishing to be like them.
One day a curious character appears in front of her and offers her the power to make her wishes come true, but…
Magical Girls vs. The Forces of Evil, the fierce battle begins!

A hilarious, casual exploration of having fun with magical girls. And a surprisingly good plot too after the first few chapters.

And you know what? I think this is what those Magical Girl corruption quests here should aim to do. No need to be ultra evil or anything about it, just casual fun.

Also, hilarious mascot that definitely know how to motivate you.

On a side note, Frieren at the Funeral is now the top rated manga on Mangadex.

I've been posting about that for a while in the magical girl thread.

Gonna rec a short, adorable manga called Tekito Na Maid no Oneesan & Erasou de Ichizu na Botchan. Possible translation is An Adequate Older Girl Maid and Overly Eccentric Young Master. It's a series of short stories about a young maid taking care of a young boy over the years as he grows up. And yes, it's entirely SFW and wholesome.

Imma drop a rec here for Kyuusen no Shima. Essentially, think near-porn meets cosmic horror. It's a story about this kid, Yuuma Nuenaki, who's been called up to his family island of Mikashira in order to take up the position of Nuenaki head. Yuuma refuses, previous head (his grandma) dies, Yuuma becomes head of Nuenaki, and now has to deal with the mystery of the Nuenaki and Mikashira island. And no, it's not about why he has a harem of big tiddy ultra thicc Onee-samas.

I'd personally recommend it because of how many porn tropes it hits without ever completely taking the plunge, and the juxtaposition between near-hentai levels of lewd and serious plot. It's world is actually very interesting, and could be a cool backdrop for any quests or fics. The only downside is the hefty case of blueballing that goes on in there, because the series is only 14 chapters long and doesn't have a proper ending.

Also, Kyuusen no Shima roughly translates to "Island of Evil" which, while a bitching awesome name, lacks the oomph of the Japanese.

Spirit Circle

A story about a guy exploring his past incarnations to discover the reason why his crush wants to kill him. There is tragedy, humor, love and sheer honest brutality. The way each previous life shapes the ones following and are woven together is hauntingly beautiful, specially when a future incarnation provides closure to a past one. A story about ending the cycle of revenge done right.

Yesterday I found a manga/anime I'm honestly a little surprised I haven't heard more of around here, Gleipnir. Without going into details it's a tale of a boy who can become a monster and the girls that have to strip to fight alongside him. Now that that horribly misleading, no matter how true, summary is over I honestly do recommend looking into if you like mystery/seinen/fighting series.

"I think I peed a bit inside you."

I gotta catch up on that series.

Come to think of it, I forgot to recommend this here yet.

Kaiju No.8
A man working a job far removed from his childhood dreams gets wrapped up in an unexpected situation…! Becoming a monster, he aims once again to fulfill his lifelong dream…!

Can be found officially all for free here for now.

Funyn at time, but hot-blooded when it's time for action. Very much a Mankind vs Kaijus setting.

And no gloom or despair either, in case you wondered. Just being a badass.

Still a young manga, but it's full of promise.

So, I recently found a manga that's disappointing in how it was cut so short. It's Territory of a Shark Girl, and 8 chapters of good wholesomeness about a girl who seems like a Yankee and this guy who wants to get to know her better.

I'm going to recommend 2 that I have gotten into this month
Records of Ragnarok - Gods decide to destroy humanity and Valkyries taunt the gods into a tournament arc with historical figures fighting gods
God Of Highschool - A Korean WEBTOON that begins as a tournament for high schoolers where the winner will have one wish granted. I wouldn't recommend the anime since it condensed 112 chapters of material into 13 episodes.

Yuusha Ga Shinda! Or, if you prefer, 'The Hero Is Dead!'

Three years ago, the Hero Shion sealed the Hell Gate. The Seal has been weakening ever since, sporadically letting monsters through. After a big group of monsters entered the country through said Hell Gate, Heroes were needed again.

Touka Scott, a radish farmer and trapper in the southern town of Cheza, lives a peaceful life with his beautiful childhood friend and neighbor Yuna, but he is nevertheless prepared for sudden monster attacks. He built himself a hidden pit-trap with bamboo spikes to lure unsuspecting monsters if they ever try to attack the village. A monster attacks and Touka fails to lure it into the trap with freshly roasted bacon. Thankfully, the local Hero saves the village from the monster in the nick of time. The hungry Hero tries to grab a bite of bacon after vanquishing the monster, only to stumble into Touka's pit-trap and die.

After causing the Shion's death, Touka is reluctantly forced to take matters into his own hands to protect the region from attacking monsters... by occupying the late hero's body!

Accompanied by Yuna and the necromancer girl Anri (who forced him into Shion's body), together they set on adventure... and to save face.

This manga recently ended. Despite all expectations, it managed to strike a balance between comedy and seriousness. Pretty big cast, big fights... And also plenty of lewdness and fanservice. If you like naked kneesocks, this MC would be your best friend.

Plenty of funny side characters too. Like the broest horse there ever was, Horse Bro.

While short, I've been enjoying Kimi wa Shinenai Hai Kaburi no Majo thus far.
The meeting between a normal boy and a witch liberates the world from its curse...

I'm a magic apprentice. "My master", who has been living under this same run-down roof with me, is a shut-in girl who proclaimed herself to be a great witch. Despite sounding all high-and-mighty, my defenseless master loves to watch her disciple cooking for her. Our daily lives, filled with happiness, go by quietly. However, little did I know that behind that quiet, happy daily life is a terrible secret that involves the fate of the world...
Ignoring the description, it definitely seems like it's leaning towards the horror genre and it gets into the action fairly quickly. Not sure how long it will continue but I'll probably keep following it.

For manhwa, I'd recommend Beware of the Villainess!.
A refreshing, unique villainess who's been dropped in the world of a novel, only to overthrow it all! The reason why? She couldn't just stand by and watch the female lead be manipulated by all four shitty male leads. The story of a pragmatic villainess who intends to throw out all the jackasses, the friendly heroine who is equally miffed at said idiots, and a wolf that only yearns for the villainess!
While there have been quite a few Otome Isekai manga after Hamefura became popular, this is definitely one of the more entertaining ones. The main character has zero fucks to give, the male leads get absolutely destroyed, they have no issue changing the art-style for some hilarious poses/faces, and they have an interesting take on the heroine's situation later on.
