That's not actually true though. Sure Shirogane is short as fuck, but she's normal height for both Japanese women and umas and Shirogane has grey hair and not blonde.

Also the hairstyle is different and even Shirogane's eye colour too. I suppose both Shirogane and Tanya wear military uniforms but WW1 era German officer uniform and a napoleonic era cavalry uniform are very different.

To be fair, in the LN Being X initially read Salaryman's skepticism from his mind, or something about thinking and speaking is the same as a soul, but Salaryman wasn't initially intending to communicate his doubt, which made Being X rather annoyed.

Grass Wonder lived until last year as well, and Mejiro Dober is still alive, so horse Shiro could very well be a retired horse somewhere.

Unfortunately that isn't happening anytime soon. I've been quite busy this past few weeks (I was work for 16 hours the other day, halp) but I have made some progress on the chapter, so have a preview:

Shirogane stepped up to the plate and pulled on a pair of disposable cooking gloves, before drawing the steak knife from its place, spinning in her hand to get a feel for its balance–

"Whoaa!"

–and sliding the edge into the soft, tender meat, the keen blade parting the well cooked flesh easily as she chopped it into more easily edible slices, sliding them off into a pan which Grass Wonder promptly took control of to distribute to their ever hungry classmates, though not before the two of them claimed their tax, simply taste tasting of course.

Shirogane hummed in satisfaction at the savory, buttery taste as she chewed, quite pleased with how her preparations and Taiki's grilling had turned out.

"Wow, this is good," Grass mumbled next to her, clearly at least mildly disappointed she had missed out on some of the earlier batches.

Another hunk of meat was deposited on the cutting board, and Shirogane carved it up with equal efficiency, trying not to grin at how readily the knife could cut. For all her silliness, Taiki Shuttle clearly knew her way around a grill.

"Wow! Where did Shiro-chan learn to use a knife like that?" Haru Urara cried, hopping up in front of Shirogane, tail wagging curiously. A few others looked similarly curious, but hadn't voiced it aloud.

"How kind of you to ask," Shirogane chuffed, tossing her knife in a quick spin, catching it by the tip between her fingers. "My family runs a small restaurant in Fujisawa, and I help out in making the food sometimes–"

"Oh thank God."

She flipped the knife around and resumed cutting as Taiki Shuttle added another finished hunk of meat.

"Oooh! What do you sell?" Haru leaned in curiously, a bit too far, so Shirogane gently poked the pink haired uma in the forehead with the butt of her knife, which got her excitable schoolmate to back out of the hazard zone.

"A lot of bento boxes." While they weren't in Fujisawa, and it seemed unlikely that her classmates would ever go there, there wasn't any harm in some advertising. "What we're really known for are pierogis, which are basically Polish gyoza. Its name is Suzukiya and it's in the middle of Fujisawa if you ever find yourself there." Not the most creative name but it seemed to work.

My money is on Seiun Sky, but if she's not in the scene when the whole thing's published, just going off of who's in the preview, Grass maybe? It's definitely not Haru, and I don't think Taiki Shuttle would mind if the knife skills weren't from cooking.
 
Haru Urara might be reassured what Shiro is not a ninja, but after her trainer took a note of her i proved training, she might get into some ninja theme shenanigans. Accidentally. Like running up the Wall in excitement.

Need to think more about it.

Yeah, I believe the essence of writing Tanya is lost if she is merely portrayed as a replica of her second life. While her second life can influence her third life, Tanya is fundamentally a character who adapts to her environment. This adaptability is the main appeal when writing Tanya stories.

Probably some sort of doctor, or doctoral residency. One of my family members is a doctor and would often regale the family members with the stories of such times. Sounded like rough work, much respect. Constant crazy hours.

My thought is that since Salaryman and Tanya bear no physical resemblance to each other, there is no reason for third life Tanya to look all that much like her previous lives

I'm imagining just a yawn, she looks around, notices Shiro, nodding at her, then shifts to get back into a more comfortable position… then does a double-take at Shiro being right there.

Cue scream as she leaps out of her seat.

Then an insistent "Stop sneaking up on me like that!"

"Sneak up on you? I'm just sitting down."
 
Shirogane is probably going to get recruited as a horror movie slasher character during the eventual Tracen Halloween event
