I remember reading a similar druid HP fanfic, it was quite good Master Druid in Hogwarts

That's not remotely the same premise, nor is it in any way related to my story at all. If you want to advertise your stories, don't do it so blatantly in my thread, that's disrespectful. Also, the story you posted according to the comments, is a shitty Chinese translation, which shows me how little you think of my work, and how you didn't actually bother to read my fic at all.

Seriously dude, what the hell.

Love the story, the best part is that magic is more then just swinging a stick and shouting broken latin. Personally I would chose a cat spirit, I love cats and I love being like a cat

I hate to break it to you, but the cat spirit would look upon you with disdain (as cats do) and move along.
Frankly it's a miracle (and plot armor) that the fox spirits were prankful and cooperative enough to go along with the MC and Harry here. Maybe it's cause they're canines (EDIT: canine-adjacent)?

As cats, specific house cats are pack animals, that is a wrong assumption. Cats are very affectionate. Also these are also spirits as such there is a chance to bribe them

I feel like fox boy and Luna will be best friends

Indeed. We just need to be able to keep this story funded until we get to her if you want to see that.

We had fun writing it too. We will be doing more as soon as I can convince Alphabet that he can do so tbh. He's very slow.

Depends on the cat spirit. And Foxes are Vulpine, not Canine. Most foxes would be insulted the moment you referred to them as a dog. In fact, good luck getting a fox spirit on your side with that attitude lol.

Cats are very cute. They like scritches and pets. The reason people think they look at you with disdain is because cats are ableist usually, and basically treat us like big cats that are going deaf and particularly disabled. It's why some of them are friendlier than others.

As Harry slowly opened his eyes, he still felt like he was lying on a bed of clouds. Was he still dreaming? Was yesterday even real?

Harry rubbed his eyes to wake himself up a bit more. He then pinched himself. It hurt. It hurt a lot, in fact. Was he still dreaming? He was still lying on clouds, he felt like.

Looking around the room, it very much wasn't the cupboard under the stairs Harry was used to. For one, it was lit up by windows. The walls were clean and wallpapered, and his bed was... probably the clouds he felt. In that it was way comfier than his normal bed.

Hearing footsteps approaching, Harry sat up, his eyes glued to the door. Then, someone knocked on the door.

"Harry? Are you awake?" Mrs. Baker asked from behind the closed door.

"Um! I am, Mrs. Baker!" Harry quickly replied.

The door opened, Mrs. Baker walking in. "Good morning, Harry. How are you feeling?" she asked with a smile. "Did you sleep well? Yesterday did seem like it was a lot for you."

It was. With his birthday, and the Dursleys, and the... wait. Harry turned around to check for a– oh, so the tail was real, and that meant everything else also was–

"There's breakfast waiting for you downstairs. Don't be afraid to take your time getting dressed," Mrs. Baker said, before walking out and closing the door behind her.

Harry jumped out of bed. As kind as they seemed, he really didn't want to keep the Bakers waiting. They had done so much for him already, that he didn't want to waste their time or become a burden on them. Searching around for his clothes, he found them on a chair nearby.

He rushed down the stairs after having spent too long messing with his pants, as his new tail kept getting in the way. As he entered the kitchen, he was met with the most delicious smell he'd ever smelled.

Sat at the table was John, along with Mr. and Mrs. Baker. Next to John was an empty seat, with a plate loaded with food. Beans, delicious bacon, meaty sausages, fried eggs, even some mushrooms on the side. Was all of that... for him?

"Oh, good morning, Harry!" Mr. Baker cheerfully waved. "Come on, get yourself some breakfast. We've left that plate for you. Don't let it get cold!"

It... Harry could only stare at it in shock. He could not possibly eat all of that! But he also didn't want to seem ungrateful, and it was just so much, and—

"Come on Harry! It's really good!" John grinned. "You won't even notice how much you're eating until you're already going back for seconds, trust me."

"O-okay," Harry replied, still a little shaken.

Sitting down at the table, he smelled the food and it was even better up close. Harry remembered the Dursleys eating something like this. Was this what they were eating while he was given stale bread and cheese, and maybe an apple?

He took a bite out of the bite out of the bacon and oooo it was so good! The sausage was somehow even better.

At some point Harry blinked and... oh, there was nothing left. When did that happen?

"Quite good, eh Harry? There's still enough that you can get seconds," Mr. Baker said with a slight chuckle.

Harry looked back at the kitchen and... well, he already felt full, but he didn't want to seem ungrateful, so...

"If you're full, then don't worry too much about it," Mr. Baker reassured. "I'll just wrap up any leftovers remaining and take it with me to work."

"Oh! U-um. Thanks for the breakfast, Mr. and Mrs. Baker!" Harry beamed. It was the best breakfast he'd had ever!

Picking up his plate, he'd gone to collect Mrs. Baker's, only for her to gently push his hand away.

"Oh, it's nice that you want to help out, but how about I deal with the washing up, hmm?" Mrs. Baker smiled. "If you want to help out, maybe you can help dry the dishes once I've washed them?"

They... didn't want him to...? Do all the work...??

Picking up a towel, he stood next to Mrs. Baker, ready to begin drying the dishes. She passed him the washed dishes and he dried them as fast as he could, before stacking them as carefully as he could on the drying rack. He didn't want to make the Bakers angry by breaking their dishes!

After the washing up was done, Mrs. Baker washed her hands and then smiled. "You didn't have to help, but you did a good job anyway," she said, patting him on the head. "Now, how about you and John go ahead and play in the backyard for a bit, hm?"

"Yay!" John grinned, grabbing Harry's hand. "Let's go plant something fun in the garden!"

Albus was quite pleased that morning, having woken up on exactly the side of the bed one should wake up on for a days work as the Headmaster of Hogwarts, never mind all the other nonsense titles he had acquired over the years. He even had on a nice pair of knitted woolen socks, which felt just right to crinkle his toes in.

In fact, his day was going so well that it was suspicious. Which meant something had likely gone terribly wrong somewhere.

And that was why, when his magical artifacts showing the state of a young charge of his violently exploded into movement, he was quite sure something had caused him grave danger. Yet he paused, hesitating for some reason, as Fawkes trilled softly, and relaxed himself.

Those weren't the Danger alarms. No. Those were alarms stating just how much magic had occurred in the area.

Which could mean only one thing… Harry had discovered his magic, and was partying.

Of course that would be the case. His family was a kind, loving one from what he had heard, so of course they'd want to celebrate the discovery of magic.

So he let them rest and have their fun, and went out the very next day to check up on them. After all, with such strong magical abilities, it was clear that he would be a promising young student. Besides that, it was about time he checked in on the boy, and saw how he was shaping up.

Of course, it was simple to apparate to Little Whinging, Surrey, but he elected to take the Knight Bus for once. He did oh so miss the Hot Chocolate they served, and it was only polite of him to stop off at a nice muggle candy shop on the way.

He was practically Harry's grandfather after all, with how close he was to James and Lily through the Order. It was only natural that he offer some sweets when he arrived.

With all that said, however, he soon noticed that Harry was not where Albus Dumbledore thought he was. In fact, he very much was in the wrong house, as this was the house that belonged to the Bakers.

He knew of them because the Ministry had caught onto the son's use of Druidic Magic rather early on, and had been a major part of making sure nobody saw anything that was happening to the Baker house as strange. Especially when the boy was clearly just doing his best to hold an aging building together with plant life.

It had even worked remarkably well, even if the muggles didn't consider it up to code, so he had purchased it himself so he could study the methods used. After all, such things could be incredibly useful for his own magical studies, he figured. And it was always fun to learn new things.

Alas, he was lost in his own thoughts for too long. So he knocked on the door with a smile, a letter in hand for young Harry, and sweets in the other for him and his friend.

When the door opened, he was greeted by a young woman, with a happy look about her. It seemed she had some magical blood in her as well, as he remembered being there at her Mother's last birthday party. Such a shame that the poor dear wasn't born with the ability to use magic herself, as she would have made a wonderful witch.

"Oh, hello... wait, Mr. Dumbledore, is that you?" young Stacy Baker asked. "It is you, you lovable coot! Oh, come on in, come on in!"

"Thank you, Mrs. Baker," Dumbledore smiled brightly, walking in with treats and goodies for the family and placing them on the table nearby while he spoke with her. "I must say, it is quite a lovely new house you've gotten for yourself here. I trust that the family has settled in nicely?"

"Oh, yes, we've settled in nicely. Rather quiet suburb, which the family and I quite appreciate," she replied. "John's even got a friend over right now. They're playing the backyard for now."

"Oh, Albus, nice of you to stop by," Jim Baker said as he descended from the stairs. "What's the occasion? Just a friendly visit?"

"Unfortunately no," Albus smiled. "I had come to check up on a youthful charge of mine — young Harry Potter — who I am nominally responsible for in the magical side of things at least. As well as to remind you to please party responsibly. A large buildup of magic such as that can be seen and felt across the continent, after all."

The two young adults looked at one another, as if communicating silently amongst one another. If he hadn't already known that they were both non-magical, he'd have thought they were actively communicating through thoughts. After a short moment, they turned back to face him.

"...We will take that under advisement," Jim said in a careful tone.

"Of course!" Albus waved towards the candy and drinks. "But please, help yourselves. I brought a selection of magical and muggle candies for all of you. It would be a shame if they all went to waste."

He looked through the back window briefly, and saw that Harry was doing quite well, if with slightly more appendages than he was used to seeing on a wizard. Turning back, he smiled. "I assume Harry is doing well? I haven't heard anything from the Dursleys or dear old Arabella about him in quite some time, and I've been growing worried that something had happened to him."

"...Huh. Doesn't surprise me, to be honest," Jim stated. "Last time I saw the Dursleys, they didn't seem to be the most... personable people around."

"Don't be so diplomatic, Jim. Oh, the things they said to Harry last night! Just dreadful people," Stacy frowned. "It's a good thing Harry's now staying with us instead. He's a lovely child that doesn't deserve people calling him a 'freak' or anything else demeaning."

Ah. This was… Decidedly not good. If it was true… Well…

"Might I ask for a copy of your memory of the encounter?" Dumbledore asked. "It may be best if I take the time to properly view it myself when I return, for the sake of legality. Not that I don't trust the two of you myself, as long time family friends, but in the case that I may have to bring the topic to the Ministry and have the Dursleys investigated for improper childcare, I would like to be able to more clearly present my findings."

The two blinked, looked at one another once more, then nodded.

"Yeah sure, go ahead," Jim agreed.

"Thank you, this will take but a moment," Dumbledore withdrew his want and gently placed it near Jim's temple. "Please, relax your mind and think of the incident as it happened. Hold it freshly for me, so I may copy it intact."

"Oooookay," Jim replied skeptically.

Once the memory was clear, Albus withdrew a copy, and stuck it into a freshly transfigured glass vial once it was separated. Of course, he would most certainly need to go over this soon.

"You'll have to excuse me, I must ensure I act while the memory is still fresh. I apologize for the confusion, and this may be presumptuous of me, but might I ask you to look after Harrly long-term if what I fear is true?" Albus asked, a serious and slightly sad expression on his face.

"Oh, don't worry too much about that. The Dursleys clearly said they didn't want him around anymore, and we've already decided to take care of him ourselves," Stacy replied. "Honestly, those people shouldn't have had him in the first place."

"At the time, they were the only viable option we had," Dumbledore admitted. "And all the other options we could have tried were much worse, especially as the Dursleys are indeed his blood relations."

He sighed. "I will be off. I shall return when a decision has been made, to help settle accounts and ensure you are properly reimbursed for your care of the boy. I hope your day is wonderful and full of delightful fun."

With that, he left.

"Ah, so this was the terrible thing that had gone wrong."

Ah so doubledoor didn't know what was happening in this world. Kinda refreshing after pretty much every other fanfic I've read had him do it intentionally.

Well, we ruled that doing things the usual fanfic way was boring, and that Dumbledore was a man with many responsibilities that may or may not be autistic, and may get tunnel vision from time to time. As expected of an old and powerful wizard, he does indeed make mistakes, and has done so repeatedly in the past, all of which he regrets deeply.

This is kinda refreshing honestly

Thanks! Alphabet and I did our best to portray him in the way we thought made the most sense. Because honestly, the faction doesn't.

Dumbledore: Essentially a good guy, is in fact capable of dropping the ball.

Yes indeed!

He may be a wizard, but he's only human after all.

Looking forward to fox hijinks in hogwarts! Maybe Jim and harry could turn the undercroft into their clubhouse of sorts? Home base for building their crazy stuff or doing more spirit animal rituals.

People will need to put cash in our wallets to extend the story if they want to see things going on in Hogwarts,
unfortunately. Both of our wallets. Otherwise we might not have enough words for much beyond the sorting ceremony, if even that.

Yeah, 'greater good' mastermind Dumbledore got old decades ago.

Yeah, we both realize that. That's why we bring you Autistic Dumbledore! He really likes knitted woolen socks. They have *just* the right texture, you know?

Dumbledore just suffering from the Tism tangents and focus. Combined with age.... Forgetting to check up on a kid that's not his own direct responsibility as a parent suddenly makes a lot more sense..

Indeed. And in this case, he has been checking in by asking how Harry was doing. Not his fault the Dursleys lied to him.
