[RWBY] RWBY Shorts

Jaune: "gentlemen. Let's raise the stakes, I have on me a bottle of Arclight."

*Sounds of gasps and many exclamations of "bullshit!" *

Ruby: "what's Arclight?"

Arc: "it's the weakest brew that the Arcs produce, it's also the only one we sell to people."

Junior: "it's the strongest liquor you can buy! One drop diluted in a barrel of water is enough to get 400 people shit faced."

Ruby: "dear brothers!"

Jaune: "no we don't sell that brew. Dear brothers is only for funerals and weddings."
Legally every other form of Arc produced licor is only allowed to be used to strip paint of airships.

Well she started cackling madly and then grabbed a passing Cardin and did unspeakable horrors to his kbees.

I will admit the Holy Bun pairing was something I promoted mainly to annoy certain members of the RWBY fanbase. It's also a common trope, a bully growing as a person and attracting the romantic interest of someone he once bullied. And I am very common. Lowest denominator.

But it has grown on me over time. So! I would love to see your takes on Cardin/Velvet. It can be short, it can be long, but let's explore Velvet and Cardin's relationship.

From fumbling teenagers, to adults, to parents. Let's see what you can come up with!

Holy Bun: Denial New
It might be funny if they keep trying to pretend they're not involved after they get together, and unfortunately nobody believes that Cardin is actually bullying Velvet anymore.

Jaune: "I mean, you've got hickeys."

Cardin: "M-Mosquito bites!"

Jaune: "Through your Aura?"

Cardin: "Y-Yeah! Grimm Mosquitos!"

Nora: "The fact you keep going out on dates?"

Velvet: "N-No! Those aren't dates! He's uh... He's just taking me out to apologize! For being a jerk!"

Jaune: "Why are you lying? It's obvious!"

Cardin: "N-NO! I'M A RACIST BULLY AND I DON'T LIKE HER AT ALL!"

Velvet: "Y-YEAH! HE'S STILL A TOTAL JERK AND I DON'T LIKE HIM AT ALL!"

Coco: "Velvet, everyone knows you two are banging."

Velvet: bright red "E-Everyone?!"

Cardin: "EVERYONE?!"

Yang: "Everyone in the dorms heard you two banging! INCLUDING RUBY!" glares "You perverts! Stop corrupting my baby sis!"

Ruby: "YAAANG! I know what sex is!" blush "Though um, Cardin and Velvet definitely made it a lot more clear-"

Yang: "YOU FREAKING EXHIBITIONISTS!"

Weiss: "Y-You're so lewd! Stop denying it!"

Blake: Is busy writing a massive epic about a racist human master becoming kind and warm to his submissive rabbit Faunus slave girl... While her nose bleeds...

Cardin's Semblance New
I got this very interesting idea from a guest poster over on Ao3, so here it is:

Cardin' struggles with his Semblance called "Empathy" that allows him to void the pain and emotions of others by taking them on himself through touch. Dove broke his leg and freaking out? Cardin can numb his pain while he fireman carries his teammate to safety even as his own perfectly healthy limb groans in discomfort! He can't heal people, but he can take away their pain or keep them from panicking.

The problem really starts when he goes to the local hospital to visit his Nana, only to overhear a sobbing couple whose kid won't make it through the night and don't know what to do.

So Cardin offers them the chance to take away the pain and allow their kid one more night filled with bedtime stories and silly games free from pain with Mommy and Daddy before she drifts to sleep one last time...

Cardin spends the next day in Beacon's combat room trying to forget how it feels to die scared and all alone.

Eventually other parents with terminal kids find out...and Cardin?

...Cardin just doesn't have it in his heart to say no.

Not without remembering that first night of panic and dread and realizing what saying no would do to those kids. Because what kind of manly, heroic Hunstman would give up on them?

So everyday Cardin ends up leaving the hospital a little more angry, a little more absentminded, and a little more scared cuz he doesn't know how to process it.

Eventually it gets so bad that Blake chews Cardin out for accidentally knocking her over in the halls before Cardin loses it and trashes her stuff before leaving.

Dove and Sky finally accept that something isn't right with their friend and call in the "big gun" to help him out.

Cue Velvet finally putting her foot down with her boyfriend who unsuccessfully tries to shrug her off, and pinning him down in the arena until he comes clean with his problem.

Eventually, Cardin goes from feeling frustrated, to angry, to finally feeling lost before he can't hold hold it in any more and confesses, weeping tears and all. Feels so ashamed he isn't strong enough to help the kids with their burdens or strong enough to say no, only for Velvet to hug and comfort him back, holding him.

Fic ends with Cardin going a clinic for therapy and nearly chickening out before he feels Velvet holding his hand and the loving encouragement/support she sends him. Proceeds to take one last breather before getting some well-earned help.

What do you think?

This may or may not be part of a Holy Bun storyline, but I had a cute plot idea:

Coco and Velvet run a adult streaming channel. It's nothing super explicit, mostly just trying on sexy clothes and/or lingerie, as well as stripping segments for the higher paying viewers. On one hand, it's to raise funds cause hard light dust and chaingun ammo expenses aren't cheap. On the other, Coco also uses it as an opportunity to help get Velvet out of her shell and be less shy. As a result, she's the one who sees chat and interacts with them, in order to prevent Velvet from seeing some of the more questionable commenters. However, for the longest time, they've had a very loyal paying follower named RedBird who is mostly interested in Velvet's content, and very sweet about it. At one point, they make up a private video congratulating him on getting into the school he wanted, all while Velvet is dressed up in some of the most sexy and revealing lingerie they have. They send it off to him, then go to dinner in the cafeteria.

...And then someone jostles Cardin's arm at a nearby table, which yanks out his earbuds, and Velvet's sensitive hearing clearly hears her own voice saying "congratulations RedBird!" coming from Cardin's own Scroll. At her own "Eep", Cardin realizes she's in the room, and the two of them just stare at each other in silence.

...Only later did Cardin man up and admit his earlier bullying was him "pulling the pigtails" of one of his favorite streamers (and crush) in an effort to get her attention without revealing how he knows her.

(Couple points I'm unsure come across well.
Cardin has been a follower of Velvet and Coco since they first started the stream account, and well before he himself got into Beacon. He may or may not have known they were Beacon attendees before he applied there. Velvet was never the main point of interaction with most of the stream chat, and really only got to know RedBird because he was so consistently nice that Coco let Velvet talk to him directly. And while Velvet's voice coming from his scroll might be weird to Cardin's friends, only Cardin and Velvet know the exact context of that clip, as Coco hasn't yet heard it since she doesn't have as good hearing.)

(Also, let me know if I need to move this snip to the NSFW thread. It didn't seem explicit enough to me though.)

Crack fix idea, Huntresses are so used to seeing buff and testosterone fueled rage monsters of a Huntsman that seeing a soft and caring civilian/Huntsman aspirant that is Jaune Arc really gets them going and is just a breath of fresh air.

Soft in demeanour, you mean. Reminder that pre-Aura!Jaune was canonically (as per Monty and Kerry) superhumanly fit even before entering Beacon.

Some prompts for Monday:

-Blake ends up spending the summer break in Radian since Jaune offered. How does she adjust to this rustic farming community filled with retired heroes and Faunus and humans living together in more or less harmony?

-James Ironwood and Nick Arc are stuck in a buddy cop movie style situation: Where the super serious military general must work together with the airheaded paladin to survive, stop the bad guys, and save the day.

-Penny decides she's going to experience dating. So she selects Ruby and Jaune as her first partners. How does it go?

-More prompts for Cowboys of Remnant:

>Jaune and Emerald get into a shooting competition.

>Nora tries chewing tobacco. It does not end well.

>Jaune decides to organize a good old fashioned barbecue for the students, with a bit of a rodeo as he and Orleans show off. How does that go?

And for Holy Bun:

-Velvet is the only member of the Photography club, which sucks. It may be shut down. So Cardin, in an effort to make amends, joins the club. Shenanigans ensue.

-Cardin and Velvet's parents are at odds so the two are trying to keep their relationship a secret. Everyone tries to help them cover it up.

-Blake tries to "reform" Cardin so that he will treat Velvet properly. It does NOT go well.

Some prompts for Monday:

-Blake ends up spending the summer break in Radian since Jaune offered. How does she adjust to this rustic farming community filled with retired heroes and Faunus and humans living together in more or less harmony?

Obviously she must seduce him for more information on this miracle. She must pump him for all his secrets, milk him dry and swallow every drop-

Pyrrha: "I have this strange urge to get a pet dog."

Cardin: "What. The fuck. Do you mean we have to make a couples calendar?!"

Velvet: "I'm sorry we have to do one group project per year and one money making project, this is the only one we can do that covers both before the year ends."

Cardin: "Great plan, except for the tiny problem of WE ONLY HAVE TWO PEOPLE."

Velvet: "STOP YELLING AT ME I CANT AFFORD TO BE HORNY RIGHT NOW I NEED TO THINK!"

Cardin: "WELL I THINK YOU'RE PRETTY WHEN YOU'RE HORNY!"

Blake:"Right, so cocoa asked us to come help but we can come back later."

Worldbuilding: Quitalan Empire New
Been working with an AI on some brainstorming. It gave me this for the Quitalan Empire (Which would have been the equivalent of the Romans in Remnant):

The Quitalan Empire began as a city-state on the continent of Sanus, formed by various tribes united for mutual defense against the Grimm. It evolved from a republic into an empire, expanding through conquest, diplomacy, and the establishment of a centralized power structure.

Expansion and Military:
  • Legions and Early Huntsmen: The Quitalan military was known as the Legions, with an elite cohort of Huntsmen and Huntresses, the Praetorian Guard, who were skilled in Aura techniques but did not have the advantage of Dust. Their combat methods would focus on tactics, strategy, and the use of Aura for defense and offense against both human foes and Grimm.
  • Fortifications and Roads: Without the benefit of Dust, their expansion relied heavily on their ability to construct defensible positions and safe routes, like the famous Quitalan Walls and roads, to facilitate travel and trade while minimizing Grimm encounters.
  • Naval Strength: Their navy was crucial for coastal defense, but without Dust, their ships would be more traditionally built, relying on speed, ramming tactics, and boarding actions to fend off sea Grimm and rival navies.
Governance and Society:
  • Aura Utilization: Aura would have been a significant aspect of Quitalan life, integrated into governance, sports, and daily activities. Training in Aura might have been widespread, with special academies for those with strong natural talents to become Huntsmen.
  • Legal System: Their legal systems would have addressed matters related to Aura misuse or the handling of Grimm threats, without reference to Dust.
  • Cultural Assimilation: As the Empire grew, it assimilated various cultures, adapting their religions, myths, and Grimm-fighting techniques into its own. This cultural amalgamation would strengthen the Empire's resilience against Grimm through diversity in tactics.
Infrastructure Against Grimm:
  • Coliseums: Beyond entertainment, these could serve as training grounds for combat against Grimm, where citizens could learn to fight or watch Huntsmen demonstrate techniques, turning public spectacle into practical education.
  • Aqueducts and Water Management: Water was a deterrent for many types of Grimm, so aqueducts would not only supply cities with water but also create barriers or traps against Grimm.
  • Lighthouses and Signal Towers: These structures would also serve as watchtowers for Grimm sightings, allowing the Empire to mobilize defenses quickly.
Decline and Fall:
  • Defensive Overreach: The Empire would have reached its limits in controlling vast territories without Dust, leading to vulnerabilities where Grimm could exploit weak spots in their defenses.
  • Internal Decay: Similar to historical Rome, decline could come from within due to political corruption, economic troubles, or a breakdown in the societal structures that maintained their defenses against Grimm.
  • Natural Disasters and Grimm: Without Dust or advanced technology to manipulate the environment, the Quitalan Empire would be more susceptible to natural disasters, which could also trigger Grimm outbreaks due to the resulting fear and negative emotions.
  • Barbarian Invasions: Tribal groups or rival nations outside the Empire's direct influence might have developed their own anti-Grimm tactics, which could prove effective against the Legion's Aura-based strategies.
Legacy:
  • Cultural and Technological Contributions: The Quitalan Empire would leave behind a legacy of advanced architecture designed to withstand or deter Grimm, legal systems that influenced future governance, and a cultural blend that would influence art, literature, and religion across Remnant. Their methods of dealing with Dust and Aura might have laid the groundwork for later Huntsmen academies.
  • Ruins: Ruins of Quitalan cities, roads, and forts would be scattered across Sanus, some still functioning as defenses against Grimm or repurposed by later inhabitants, while others stand as haunted reminders of the past.
  • Myths and Legends: The heroic deeds of Quitalan Huntsmen and leaders would become legends, with stories of their battles against monumental Grimm woven into the cultural fabric of Remnant, inspiring future generations.
  • Breakdown into Smaller Kingdoms: Post-Empire, the provinces of Quitalan would have fragmented into smaller kingdoms and city-states, each potentially maintaining elements of the Quitalan military and cultural practices, adapted to local conditions.
  • The Arc and Other Noble Lines: Families like the Arcs might trace their prestigious origins back to the Quitalan era, with their ancestors perhaps being notable Huntsmen or political figures during the Empire's height.

AU idea: Jaune's love interest (I originally had the idea of Penny being the one) is in a coma/has a sickness that rendered her comatose. Jaune does everything thing he can to keep her safe and heal her. (Basically Victor Freeze and Nora Fries) but while he's willing to commit crimes to do it, he'll never harm anyone to do it. So basically the major conflict is Jaune's fight over his morality but also doing anything he can to save the one he loves. And to atone have him go around saving people whenever he isn't taking care of her or working at a hospital because of his semblance (his semblance unlocked during the fall of his home and it's the reason the one person hes protecting is still alive. Also, if you go Penny, she's human). And in the process he ends up interfering with Cinder's plans and indirectly causes it to fail.

(You could also change it so that it's not a love interest but his last remaining family member after his home fell to Grimm.)

You could also then involve criminal and huntsman who try to catch him for his semblance and also for revenge (Cinder) and because he broke a bunch of laws but then one of them targets the one he's trying to save and he finally snaps. He gets captured by law enforcement but the way he'd committed his crimes, putting a stop to Cinder's plans in the process, and also the heartwarming story lead to the public rioting and forces the council to only give him a slap on the wrist. Though he'd have to become a huntsman and Ozpin also makes a deal with him for his semblance in turn the one he's protecting would get the medical attention needed and would finally wake up after a while.

(no Salem in this AU, cinder is the main villain and she wants to world to burn. Think a less crazy Joker but just as sociopathic/psycopathic)

I got 2 ideas in my head that wont leave so here they are

The Fall of Beacon or Battle of Haven - 1 of the main lantern rings arrive on Remnant
V3
Ruby - Blue Hope easy she freezes the Dragon and is a hope bringer to all her friends... Ruby waking up after her coma only for a magic ring to tell her she's been chosen? yes
Weiss - Indigo or Green, if we go with iron Yellow as feared for her name
Blake - the new depression ring or an active compassion side of Indigo... After the Fall Blake is not in a good place
Yang - also Red or Orange but could be Pink with both family love friend love or blake... Star Sapphire Yang killing Adam yes

Jaune - Green with his Will it's basic but simple
Ren - Red wraith or Pink could be nothing at all with his semblance
Pyrrha- a gentler Pink Love or Indigo compassion
Nora- Pink easy

Cinder - Yellow she is a scared lil girl that never grew up and a monster at the same time
Emerald - Pink or Indigo for being horrified by the Fall
Mercury - Indigo as punishment
Neo- after getting knocked off the ship either Red Rage or Depression
Adam - Red or Orange for his wraith or Greed/Desire for the world.. or Compassion/Indigo for irony

any other characters or ideas?

Some one said RWBY timetravel was more Back to the Future then DBZ but BTTF overwrited the timeline so...

Jaune obsession with being a hero? The Rusted Knight wrote himself a letter for Lewis to send and that's why Jaune thought Alyx killed Lewis only for team RWBY+J to arrived at Beacon as 3rd years and be confused as all hell?

so Jaune wrote himself a letter that warned about the coming Danger and from the new timeline POV team RWBY and Jaune have been missing only to turn up with amnesia or under the effect of a memory altering semblance ...

So either a story of a Jaune forwarned by himself or V9 RWBY + J trying to adapt to a golden timeline

Pretty silly idea for another family member of Jaune.

What if Sportacus was Jaune's uncle.
He may have taught Jaune to play a whole bunch of sports, workout methods/techniques, and great diet (but nothing with any actual weapons).
Sportacus' airship and all his other various vehicles are all pedal powered, and Jaune may also have one (which is why he gets sick on regular airships, he's not riding/powering them).
Jaune may have also hung around with Robbie Rotten when he was young, which is a pretty funny image.

DID SOMEBODY SAY GREEN LANTERN RINGS!?!

Honestly i never really put much thouht about giving them to anyone. Mostly because of how much they'd break the setting. But one or two shouldn't be too much? Right?

I do agree with your assessment for the RWBY girls. And JNPR. Ren's a grey area for me. literally given his semblance. Maybe we can add Renora cuteness and have him share a pair of rings with Nora? And Nora would protect those rings with her life given what it would mean to outsiders.

God she'd go crazy with the rings linking up people left and right… and people would probably cheer her on for it. Remnant is a death world they need extra babies.

Now for CNMN… For Cinder I personally saw her with an orange ring, given that she wants every scrap of power she feels she should get her hands on, but yeah Yellow's a good fit too. I can't really see mercury with a ring except for the reason you stated.

Orange is an interesting one for Adam, and it makes a good argument… but in the end i feel his Rage is stronger than any sort of desire that'd make him qualify for orange. And oof… given what an indigo ring does to a mother fucker… yeah that might actually be the key for some character development.
