[RWBY] The Great Temporal Step-Sibling War!

Julian: "Oh my god! Those sleepovers with Auntie Yang weren't really sleepovers!"
Ruby: *spits out her milk*
Yang: "Hwah?"
Xia: "Wait, does that mean 'helping Aunt Rubes with the forge'...oh my god that was an euphemism!"

Ashley: "We already know about Mom and Dad playing 'the Evil Sorceress and the Brave Kniiiii-' bro Aunt Pyrrha used to wear that warrior princess outfit-"
Ash: *pale* "Auntie Em in that genie costume..."
Cinder: *listening in* *turns pale...and looks intrigued*

Lunchtime 4 New
Coco Adel usually held court in the Star Maiden Garden. The large round stone table in the center with its ancient carvings and elaborate stone chairs made her feel like a queen with her retinue of loyal retainers and warriors. If only the dress code allowed for her men and women to be in bikinis, oiled up, fanning her with palm leaves.

Hey, a girl could dream, couldn't she?

"Okay... How many boys aside from Vasilias want him dead?" Coco asked patiently. Her team, all of BRNZ save for May, and Bolin, Reese and Nadir from Team ABRN, sat around the stone table.

"A lot... Not my Cardin though!" Velvet insisted.

Yatsuhashi shook his head.

"I have no desire to end him, my fiance is in Mistral."

Fox sighed. "I also hold no resentment. He's as confused and frightened as you might expect someone thrown into such a ridiculous situation would be."

Russel grumbled.

"I can't believe it! How is one guy that lucky?!"

"I wish my dad was like his," Sky sighed. Dove rolled his eyes.

"I'm fine," he said blandly. Bolin shook his head.

"As long as he's good to Arslan, I have no objection."

"It's… Complicated, and not his fault after all," Reese added carefully. Nadir admired himself in a mirror, before shrugging.

"Bah! None of them were my type, anyway," he said. "And I've got plenty of admirers so I'm cool!"

Reese and Bolin gave Nadir long suffering looks. He shrugged.

"What? A joke can ease the tension a little."

"A very small joke," Coco pronounced, making some of the others giggle. She looked over at Brawnz, Roy and Nolan. "And how about you guys?"

Brawnz looked up.

"Well, since I'm gonna be favorite uncle, I'm fine as long as he treats May well," he stated, "And if he doesn't? We'll kick his ass!"

"Please, I'm the favorite uncle," Nolan sniffed. Brawnz glared.

"I can beat some sense into you a third time if you want!"

Roy rolled his eyes at the antics of his teammates.

"Please guys, I'm the favorite uncle!"

The three took to arguing once more. Reese watched them, and glanced over at everyone else. She raised an eyebrow.

"I guess that works for them?"

"Would be better if they were shirtless," Coco said. A jacket flew past, and she grinned. "Perfect!"

"That said," Reese said carefully, "There is the issue that, um, well… Ya know-"

Coco rolled her eyes.

"Yes yes, it's time travel, we know," she stated. Russel's eyes bugged out.

"The hell do you mean, time travel?!"

"Okay so not everyone knew," Coco said, abashed, as her team glared at her.

"We're supposed to keep it quiet!" Velvet hissed. Yatsuhashi shrugged.

"I think most people will believe it's ridiculous."

"That's true," Dove observed.

"But… It is ridiculous, right? Right?" Russel pushed. Velvet coughed.

"Of course it is! Th-There's no time travel involved! Not a bit!"

Cardin stalked into the garden, frogmarching Julian ahead of him. A tense smile was on his face, as Julian winced. He looked over at Velvet, and smiled.

"Hey Mrs Winches-I-I mean Miss Scarla-I mean Velvet!"

Velvet blinked a few times, then blushed bright red. Cardin followed suit. Julian coughed.

"Sorry. Oh hey Auntie Reese-DAMNIT!"

"Auntie?" Reese asked faintly. Sky and Russel reeled. Bolin blinked rapidly, while Nadir's jaw dropped.

"H-Hey! That doesn't prove anything!" Julian insisted. "Time travel is crazy! We're obviously all distant relatives of the brides come to fulfill the marriage contracts his dad made with all the other families! I come from a secret clan of-of Silver Eyed Warriors who fight the Grimm! We're like ninjas! TOTALLY more plausible than time travel!"

Dove gave him a pitying look. Brawnz, Nolan and Roy kept fighting. Coco stared.

"Cardin," she began, "Why did you bring him?"

"Uh," Cardin coughed, "He really wanted to meet Velvet, since his girlfriend is like her! Like she's directly related," he emphasized.

Velvet stared at Julian, at Cardin, and then fainted. Coco sighed heavily.

"Come on over here, kiddo-Ruby's 'relative', right?"

Julian nodded.

"Yes Aunt Coco-SHIT!"

"Language!" Ruby's distant shout echoed from far away. Julian scowled in disbelief.

"How does she know?!"

Coco patted the stone chair next to her. Julian sat down, as Cardin went over to tend to Velvet. Coco smirked as she pulled out her Scroll.

"Let me give you a lesson in how to control the gossip of a school, kiddo. And in exchange? Tell me who I marry in the future. And who's my mistress. I want to get a head start!"

"Why do you get the spoilers?!" Sky demanded, "I want to know! It's like cheat codes of the future!"

"And you call yourself a gamer," Reese snorted. Russel shook his head.

"I don't wanna know shit about the future! That's fucked up!"

"What, afraid of ending up my mistress?" Coco teased. Russel turned bright red.

"What the-You're lesbian!"

"It's so boring to limit myself," Coco sighed, and winked, "And you might be fun. Who are you when the bravado drops, hm?"

"Y-You couldn't handle me!" Russel huffed. Coco grinned.

"Oh? I think you might enjoy wearing my collar~. I don't tug on the leash too hard-Unless you like it~."

Russel sputtered, bright red. Julian looked over at Coco and sighed heavily.

"You haven't changed," he concluded, as Cardin shook Velvet to try and wake her up while Bolin and Nadir seemed to go into shock-A shock Reese tried to get them out of by snapping her fingers in front of their faces.

Coco beamed.

"Good!"

Glimpses into Another Time: Cinder: Warming Up New
Beacon, Vale, Sanus

Six Months after the Vytal Attacks

- - -

Cinder Fall... Had agreed to house arrest. She, Emerald, Mercury, Neo and Roman were held in one of the dorms on campus under surveillance. Every day, they would be allowed out for meals, to talk to Ozpin and other leaders, give them intel on Salem, and would return to their dorms: All under armed guard. All while Vale recovered and those in power decided how to approach things. A civil war in Mistral was attracting most people's attention right now, and Ruby Rose was training to master her Silver Eyes.

Nikos had gotten the other half of the Maiden powers, but even so, Cinder could have escaped at any time. She could have left this all behind. Even knowing Ozpin had magical restraints he could use on her wouldn't have stopped her if she put her mind to escape.

There was only one reason she hadn't.

She entered the common room, exiting her dorm. They weren't allowed to stay together in the dorms, so they each got one room.

Standing in the kitchenette was Jaune Arc, a pink apron on, cooking something up. He looked up at her and smiled warmly.

"Hey," he greeted. Cinder allowed herself a very small smile.

"Hey," she said back. She walked over and he opened his arms. She stepped into his embrace, and hugged him back tightly.

"Long day?" She asked, still surprised she cared. Jaune shrugged.

"Well... We've been doing a lot of search and rescue, and repairs," he said quietly, "It's lucky the attack ended when it did. A lot more people could have been hurt."

Cinder bit her lower lip. It wasn't so much that she felt guilty... But the pain in Jaune's voice made her hurt too. She sucked in a breath.

"Sorry," she whispered. Jaune sighed, and stroked her back.

"I know," he murmured back. "Let's... Focus on dinner, huh?"

"Y-Yes," Cinder said with a nod. "I... You should sit down-"

"I've got it this time," Jaune said gently, smiling at her, "Besides, you're not allowed to use the oven."

Cinder sighed. Another restriction. Still... It was far kinder than she would ever be to a captive... Another thing she didn't deserve.

"All right," she murmured. She turned. "Please tell me that your teammate isn't going to-"

"HEYAH!" Nora Valkyrie cried, popping up in front of her. Cinder screeched and summoned fireballs, but Nora just kept grinning. Jaune scowled at her.

"Nora! You're not supposed to surprise her like that!"

"But she looks so funny like that!" Nora pouted. Jaune sighed, as Cinder shakily dismissed the fireballs. The orangette grinned at Jaune.

"Besides! You need cheering up!" She insisted. She grabbed Cinder's hand and dragged her over to the TV. "Come on, come on! One of Jaune-Jaune's favorite shows is on!"

"I..." Cinder looked helplessly at Jaune, demanding he do something about his subordinate. Jaune shrugged and smiled.

"It'll take me a while to get dinner done. Just relax, huh?"

Relax, he said. Cinder sighed and sat down on the couch, as Nora turned it on. She grinned as the opening titles of Space Trek appeared.

"Ooh! It's one of his favorites!"

"It is," Jaune said, going back to his cooking. Cinder rolled her eyes.

"I know."

"This episode's one of his favorites!" Nora enthused.

"They're all his favorites," Cinder stated flatly. "Even the one with Spirk's Brain being stolen. Or the one with the space ghost that bangs the doctor. Or the one with the transexual Ferongi. Or the one with the people who turn into amphibians and have sex after going to Warp X."

Nora nodded eagerly.

"I know! Makes it easy to watch!"

Cinder sighed and scowled as the show unfolded. Nora bounced excitedly next to her, babbling about basically every little thing in the episode.

"Oooh! The trobbles! I love them! I wonder how they taste?"

"Like bits of fur sewn together," Cinder huffed. Nora pouted at her.

"Aw! Cindy, you gotta let go! Imagine!"

"No I don't," Cinder muttered. She glared at Nora. "I don't even know why you insist on popping in like this. None of the other guards act this way."

Nora grinned.

"Oh, that's easy! I'm not a guard!" She chirped. "I just think you could use a friend!"

Cinder scowled.

"I do not," she muttered. "And honestly, you should hate me. The rest of his friends do."

Nora hummed.

"Well, they are angry at you, and I get why," Nora said with a nod, "But I also know what it's like to lose everything."

Cinder stared at her. Nora stared back, her smile becoming more sad.

"You didn't have anything for a long time, did you?" She asked softly. "And nobody loved you, did they?"

Cinder gaped, and trembled.

"I..."

The Glass Unicorn... She clenched her fists and turned away. She could still feel Nora's compassionate smile.

"It's okay," Nora murmured, "You don't have to tell me anything. It's not like TV where you have to reveal your tragic backstory in a few episodes-"

"I... I don't see why I have to say anything at all!" Cinder hissed, glaring at the irritating girl. Nora beamed.

"Nope! You don't!" She said cheerfully. "And you have done bad things... But you're trying to do good for someone you love. And I'm the same way."

"You were abandoned," Cinder hissed, "By your own mother. You latched onto Lie Ren. Then onto Jaune, and RWBY, and Nikos..."

Nora beamed and nodded.

"Yup! Just like you!"

Cinder grit her teeth. She sucked in a breath, let it out slowly. Then another. And another.

I'm not... I'm not going to kill her... It would make Jaune mad... I...

It didn't help... That she was right.

Nora nodded.

"So I get it," Nora said cheerfully. Cinder huffed, and crossed her arms over her chest. She glared back at the TV.

"No you're not," she muttered. Nora nodded.

"Well yeah. You're not just like me! Then I'd be banging Jaune-Jaune every night! And while he's hot, he's not my Renny!"

"NORA!" Cinder and Jaune both shouted, both with cheeks turning bright red. Nora grinned and stuck her tongue out.

"I'm not wrong~!" She hugged Cinder. The raven haired woman growled.

"I could burn you to death."

"Yeah but you won't!" Nora said cheerfully. "You love Jaune-Jaune too much to want to make him unhappy!"

"I-I do not!" Cinder insisted. "It's just... Strategically smarter to side against my former master!"

"Sure it is!" Nora laughed. "Hey, can I be godmother to your kids?"

"It's a little early to be talking about that, Nora," Jaune said, blushing hard. Cinder shook her head and scowled harder at Nora.

"Like hell!"

"Too bad! I called it!"

Cinder sighed and glared back at the TV. She saw the exasperation on Captain Irk's face as he was buried in trobbles.

"I really hate you," she grumbled at Nora.

"Which is Cindy-speak for love you! Me too!"

Cinder sighed. Like hell would she ever let this maniac near her kids with Jaune... If they had them.

You know I imagine this will be Nora on the day that Jaune bangs Cinder

Which I now realise is even funnier considering who the person in the image is.

Lunchtime Ends New
Ruby Rose, her silver eyes briefly fixed on the sky, snapped back to her meal, only to find everyone staring at her. She flushed, shrinking into her cape.

"Um, what?" Ruby mumbled, her cheeks red.Yang grinned, leaning forward, her blonde hair catching the light.

"Huh… I think Mom used to do that, too."

Ruby's eyes widened, a pleased flush spreading.

"R-Really?"

Isabel Arc, seated with a regal air, her blonde hair tied back, nodded warmly.

"Summer did always have a keen sense of others. Even better than Arjun, at times."

May Zedong, picking at her sandwich, blinked.

"Really?"

"Yes, but I was always sneakier."

Everyone—save Isabel, May, and Glynda Goodwitch—jumped, startled by Arjun's sudden emergence. The King of Pandu smirked gently as he emerged from the trees, and walked up to squeeze his daughter's shoulder. Blake Belladonna's ears twitched, her amber eyes narrowing slightly. Emerald Sustrai, sitting across from May, stared in awe at the king.

"How are you so good at this? Better than a Faunus with four ears even!"

"Hey," Blake huffed.

"Long years of practice," Arjun said modestly. He smiled at his daughter. "I've heard you've become very good at stealth yourself."

May blushed, her voice soft. "Um… I-I had to learn how to be alert, in Vacuo. And quiet…"

Blake's scowl softened, her voice intrigued. "Impressive. I would love to learn."

Yang smirked, her lilac eyes teasing.

"Blake! Admitting she's not perfect?"

Weiss Schnee, her ice-blue eyes sharp, leaned forward.

"Are you feeling all right?"

Blake's scowl returned, her voice sharp.

"Must you be so obnoxious?"

Emerald snickered, covering her mouth. Arslan Altan raised an eyebrow, her expression unimpressed.

Ruby groaned, her voice pleading.

"Guyyyys! Come on! No being mean to Blake!"

Winter Schnee nodded in approval with a polite smile as she adjusted her glasses.

"Yes. Hello, Your Majesty."

Arjun smiled, hugging May tightly.

"Hello, Specialist." He turned his eyes back to May, his voice warm. "Your date is coming up. Saia and I would like to help you get ready." He glanced at Winter. "I believe it's time for you to get ready, too."

Winter's eyes widened, her voice flustered. "Y-Yes! I um, I should go." Weiss studied her sister for a moment. She then sucked in a deep breath, standing abruptly. "…I'll help you, Sister."

Winter blinked, surprised. "Weiss?"

"I… I should try to help," Weiss said, her voice firm but tinged with a slight hint of superiority. "After all… I know Jaune better than you."

Pyrrha Nikos, her crimson hair glinting, deadpanned, "She sure does."

Yang grinned wickedly.

"Oh, the best. Nobody's broken his heart more!"

Blake's ears twitched, her voice dry.

"Or stomped on it in front of him."

Ruby chimed in, her voice cheerful.

"I think she made him cry once!"

Nora Valkyrie, munching on a sandwich, paused.

"Nah! He wasn't crying from that! He was crying because he asked me to hit him in the gut with my hammer after!" She froze, her turquoise eyes widening. "Ohhh! That's why he made me hit him!"

Isabel's eyes narrowed, her voice sharp.

"He asked you to harm him?!"

Lie Ren, calm as ever, raised a hand up to try and calm Isabel Arc.

"It's not as bad as it sounds. Jaune can be… Melodramatic."

Nora winced.

"Sorry, Mom! He asked me to! I wanted to be a good sister!"

Pyrrha sighed, her voice soft.

"He thought it would toughen him up."

Nora grinned.

"And it worked!"

Weiss's face reddened, her voice indignant.

"See?! How am I the bad guy here?!"

Blake smirked, her voice sharp.

"Let me count the ways."

"Shut up, you-you two-timing cat!" Weiss snapped, pointing at Blake in accusation.

"Two-timing?!" Blake's eyes flashed, her bow twitching.

"You were dating Sun before all this!" Weiss accused. "Then you drop him for Jaune just because of time travel?!"

"Time-traveling future children, thank you very much!" Blake retorted. "Same as you!"

Ruby slammed her hands on the table, her voice desperate.

"GUYS! Seriously!"

Isabel's voice cut through, firm and commanding.

"Yes! Enough of that, please."

Winter nodded, her voice stern.

"Agreed, Weiss. You're acting like a grunt at the Atlasian military academy! What's gotten into you?"

Weiss's face flushed, her voice defensive.

"Well… One, my future husband—"Yang, Blake, and Emerald snickered in unison, their eyes gleaming with mischief at the innuendo that Weiss unintentionally made.

"SHUT UP!" Weiss snapped, her face redder as she realized it, "And two, well…"

Yang's grin widened, her voice teasing. "Her future husband not getting into her?"

"SHUT UP EVEN MORE!" Weiss shrieked, her ponytail swishing.Ruby's voice rose, exasperated.

"WEISS!"

Glynda Goodwitch, adjusting her glasses, sighed.

"LADIES! Please? We have been over this before, have we not?"

Isabel sighed in exasperation, her voice calm.

"After all, Arjun and May already left."

Winter's eyes widened, as all the other future brides, Nora and Ren all saw that the two were gone.

"What?!"

"He had a tendency to vanish from conversations he had no interest in," Isabel said, amused.

Winter bolted, practically flying to land on the nearest rooftop and sprinting fast as a shot. "W-Wait, Sister! Let me help!" Weiss called, chasing after her.

Ruby stood, her cape fluttering.

"We should go and help her—!"

"Nope! None of that!" Isabel said, her voice firm, her blue eyes glinting. "Not one of you will go and interfere in any of the dates. None of you. Not even you, Glynda."

Glynda's eyes widened, her voice defensive. "I-I wasn't thinking of interfering—!"

Isabel's glare intensified. Glynda fidgeted, feeling the glares of all the other women.

"…Fine," Glynda muttered, adjusting her glasses.

"Excellent," Isabel said, pleased. "So… I do have even more embarrassing baby pictures of my son to show off! Who would like to see?"

"Well," Arslan flushed, "I suppose I might."

"Same!" Pyrrha said eagerly.

"Yes!" Ruby enthused, "Especially any with me and Yang!"

"Absolutely!" Yang added, looking smug enough to annoy most of the other brides.

"ME TOO!" Nora cried, holding up her hand, "I wanna tease him!"

"As his sister, that is your right," Isabel nodded, a grin on her face, "Indeed, it is your duty."

"I KNEW IT!" Nora cried. "Renny? You want to join me so we can tease him together?"

Ren looked thoughtful for a moment before he nodded.

"Yes."

"YIPPEE!" Nora cheered.

With that everyone started to gather round Isabel to get a better view of her scroll. There was a bit of jostling as the girls jockeyed for the best spots, and some elbows proved sharper than others.

"Ow, hey!" Ruby glared over her shoulder to spot who was squeezing her out.

"Watch it!" Yang growled as she suddenly found herself stumbling out of the crowd.

"Whoops," Blake squeaked as her attempt to subtly push Arslan aside failed to budge the other faunus, causing Blake to stumble into Emerald.

Isabel sighed, "Look girls, I can make my scroll's screen extra wide, there's no need to-"

"PYRRHA! THERE YOU ARE!" The voice of Athena Nikos cut across the courtyard.

Pyrrha closed her eyes and swallowed the grimace that had tried to grow across her face, managing to display a more neutral expression as she turned to look to her approaching mother. The retired actress was coming from the direction of Ozpin's office, her butler Orestes and Arslan's parents trailing behind her at a more sedate pace.

"Yes Mother? What is it?" Pyrrha asked once Athena was close enough to address without shouting.

"Oh Pyrrha! We have wonderful news!" Athena enthused as she rushed up to her daughter and grabbed Pyrrha's hands. Her voice dropped to a conspiratorial whisper that was still loud enough for the other's standing close to hear, "We've come up with a series of shorts to help sell the cover story to the public. All of you will have a chance to shine before the camera and-"

"NO!" The word escaped Pyrrha's mouth with a forcefulness and viciousness that surprised her, and it surprised her mother as well. The older redhead flinched at her daughter's sharp interjection, and Pyrrha found herself babbling to justify the outburst and the raw volume of venom that single syllable had carried. "Every time I've had to act has been awful. Just awful! Memorizing lines, improvising, doesn't matter because I'm always an awkward block of wood. Standing in front of a camera acting is horrible, so I refuse!"

"But, but," Athena blinked as if her daughter had told her two plus two equals extensive reshoots. "But you love doing the Swoosh commercials! You've always had a blast with Jordan and Mike!"

"Swoosh is a shoe brand mother!" Pyrrha dragged a hand down her face with exasperation at having to explain something that ought to be obvious. "The only thing Jordan and Mike want me to do in front of the camera is run through obstacle courses in the latest pair of athlete's sneakers!"

"My experiences in front of a camera run parallel to Pyrrha's," Arslan interjected. "Proper acting either takes natural talent or a lot of practice, preferably both, and all of us have spent time practicing other things. Why would you want us to act for these shorts?"

"It's an excuse to put you in the same frame as Jaune for an extended period of time," Logos explained with a casual shrug. "I mean officially these shorts are all about promoting peace and harmony and all that, but that's all secondary to you spending time with your fiancé."

"Oh?" Arslan asked with a quirked brow while the other girls curiously leaned in.

"Yes," Basara confirmed, picking the sales pitch up for the still stunned Athena. "We've spent some time brainstorming various little cute scenarios you can play out with Jaune, and without a studio breathing down our necks we can take our time and make sure this will be a fun bonding experience with your boy."

Pyrrha and Arslan shared a look, silently acknowledging that this was something their parents were doing to help them specifically. Then their eyes darted towards the other future brides, Emerald in particular, before silently agreeing with each other that their parent's plans might end up helping someone else more. Pyrrha scowled. Arslan quirked an eyebrow. Pyrrha frowned in response. Arslan shrugged. Pyrrha sighed in reluctant agreement. Arslan gave a supportive smile. Pyrrha nodded before squaring her shoulders.

"Alright, I can see the appeal of this idea," Pyrrha turned back to her mother, "But I don't appreciate you springing this on me with an audience, especially my friends. You should have talked to me about this before saying anything in front of everyone." She leaned in close a whispered lowly so only her mother could hear, "It smacks of entrapment."

Athena leaned back with wide eyes displaying what Pyrrha hoped was genuine horror. The older redhead's mouth worked for a few moments before the actress found her voice.

"I, I'm sorry Pyrrha," Her mother sounded sincere enough, which Pyrrha decided to accept as genuine for now. "I wanted to help, and this, this is what I know how to do. It's all that I know how to do."

Pyrrha bit her lip, keeping the words 'the acting or controlling my life' from seeing the light of day.

"We don't have to do this if you don't want to Pyrrha," Basara's contrite tone was so much easier for Pyrrha to wholeheartedly accept as real. "We're still at the earliest stages of planning, calling everything off is as easy as you saying no."

"It's fine, it's fine," Pyrrha heaved a heavy sigh through her nose. "I can already see how this could be helpful, and it's something I know how to grin and bear. We can do it."

"Well, if you're really okay with this, and not just saying you're okay with this for propriety's sake," Logos spoke gently, "Then I promise I'll do everything in my power to make this as fun and stress free as possible for you. We'll polish everything on our end to perfection so we won't do anything you're uncomfortable with and won't enjoy."

"I'm willing to see what you've come up with," Pyrrha allowed, finally calm again.

Silence hung in the air for a moment.

"Ahem, well," Isabel interjected before the silence could grow awkward, "I was about to share some stories from Jaune's childhood. If you want to join us you'll probably learn what kind of tomfoolery my son is and isn't willing to tolerate, so you'll have an idea of what avoid when you're planning the scenes involving him."

"Yes, that would be helpful," Athena gave an awkward smile in gratitude.

"Alright," Isabel expanded her scroll to its' maximum size, which was more than double a standard scroll's limit. "Everyone grab a comfortable seat, and no crowding this time, ya hear?"

And so everyone gathered round with much less fuss than there had been before Athena's arrival, and they were soon regaled about the time three year old Jaune had found the food dyes and just about gave his older sisters a heart attack from all the red he covered himself with...
