Like in canon Mimban was an overlooked primitive planet in the Expanse that only gained importance when the Seps invaded it for the resources and the Republic retaliated.

Mimbanese and Coway who while having impressive underground architecture were just a tribalistic society still using stone spears as they are now caught up in a conflict on of their own with both sides seeing them as uncivilized idiots. They would get exploited by mining corporations who were performing cultural genocide in the erase of their language and traditions.

The Empire took over but simply minded their own business by focusing on the ore fissures as the natives negotiated on unequal terms, it was better for them but they are slowly feeling the boot on their faces.

The conflict exploded when a xenophobic tribe of Mimbanese massacred and entire refinery and nearby residential district including a hospital filled with innocent humans using reprogrammed leftover battle droids, while they were condemned by most tribe the rest saw it as a call to arms and resisted the Empire planet wide.

Empire responded how you expected but didn't want to commit too much effort so their throw away equipment from the Clone Wars and disposable Imperial Army was meant to make an "easy" subjugation.

Mercenaries from across the Galaxy took this as an invitation to get back at the Empire, most don't care about Mimban, Imperial soldiers consisting of washouts, unluckily, moralistic, decommissioned Clones, and former anti Separatist partisans are in a meat grinder campaign for the uncaring leadership.

Mimbanese Liberation Army is nominally united but the tribes are fractured with extreme ideals on all sides, some side with the Zann Consortium who gave them the weapons they use in exchange for their ores and being a spice lane, others just hate all non Mimbanese and this might extend to their cousins the Coway for being neutral, Elder Isaento the most recent leader has to keep them together.

Im going by their original appearance in the Marvel comic. Mimban was the first time Luke and Vader fought, yes modern Marvel did it again.

Avoiding the monoculture as there are two species living there, Im not focusing on that too much given how corporations have eroded their culture into becoming just like any culture in the galactic public which I directly parallel how real corporations do commit cultural genocide by having theirs absorb and erase some minor people you never heard about. About 2 languages die every week due to both in part a smaller population with very little native speakers and well larger cultures pushing their ideas including language as more favorable.

I think is in the transitionary period of a rapid shift between "primitive" and "almost modern" like Meiji Restoration Japan or Italian occupied Ethopia.

From what little equipment the Mimbanese at least had Vibroblades and blasters. I find it hard they gave the genocidal Empire so much trouble for so long unless they had more than that.

Plus an excuse to use obscure weapons

Mercenaries just jumping at the chance to stick it to the Empire is based on the battles of Fallujah.

Ill prepared invasion has been done many time but I won't lie its Ukriane.

Though the hellish war is WW1 x Vietnam

Thinking of what language to use for them to make them sound alien without unfortunat implications so no Vietnamese or Arabic.

Ewoks had a lot more advantages like a tree line plus I viewed the "Emperor's Best Legion" more of cronyism which he wasn't aware of. Only filled with those who know the right people and say the right words. Like any dictator's favored.


There are hundreds of languages I can choose from, but it's the Imperial human perspective hearing them to make the enemy seem more intimidating, plus no translation is needed as the ambiguity works, or you can gather from the subtext of what it means, or just plug it in translate and be disappointed. and from the Mimbanese perspective it's <them speaking like this in their native tongue> and then not.


Theyre not Alliance yet, but I'm showing a black and grey morality. Yes the Mimbanese are justified in defending their home but most of them would be charged are war criminals for the lengths they go, scroll upwards as all my info is on this page. Remember the Mimbanese in my story are solely responsible for starting and escalating the conflict.

Most of them sell out out to the Zann Consortium which you can argue is worse for playing both sides. The Imperials are just sent there to die for being an inconvenience to their superiors. And not every scoundrel is like Han and Chewie.

Its pure nightmare fuel when the Empire takes the conflict seriously and wins.

What kind of story are you looking forward to? Is it a war story? And if it is, is it a story about the war itself or is the story about the main character living his/her life while inside a war? If you want to focus on the conflict itself, then that can allow you to switch between different characters so your audience can understand how the war started, how it progress, and how it will end. This, then, can then give you a list of potential POV characters that you can sketch and then flesh out based on what you need. While with the other option, you have a single character, and now you just need to build the plot around that character.

Oh this is for multiple different ideas

I'll assume you mean my Mimban story

Title TBA as I tend to be bad with those.

I switch perspective from a lot of characters but keep the cast tight as I'm using at best minor characters and most need a wiki surf. It's easier to mold characters that are there into something else.

Though I had to add a lot of crap for the Mimban side seeing how they are lacking in diversity and firepower.

Gaunt's Ghosts served as my inspiration. Though I don't want it to be too much superweapon of the story arc as I see it as a video game and several obscure vehicles and droids serve as bosses. Also shows how desperate the Mimbanese are and they deplete their best early on as the war goes downhill when the Empire tries harder.
