Yeah, a giant cat would totally do that. What surprises me is that it isn't lying stretched, as to occupy the entire highway, because if a cat can make itself even more inconvenient by taking another position, it will do so.

It's clearly because the road is delineated. Cats do love irritating people, but they also inexplicably love laying inside of rectangles.

Maybe the road was empty when it got there?


On the upside, such instinct to lay inside rectangles would make the cat better at parking than 99% drivers.

Toughs strips of lean meat, bones scavenged from recent kills, and dark coarse bread make up the bulk of common orc rations.Fire roasted rothe femur (marrow is a rare treat) [beef femur], Strips of dried meat (of unknown origin) [homemade goose jerky], foraged nuts, only edible by orcs….nut cracker tusks [brazil nuts], coarse black bread, made with whatever grains can be pillaged [black sesame bread], Pungent peppers [Habanero peppers stuffed with smoked fish and olives].

Lizardfolk are known to be omnivores, forage for a surprising variety of foods found within the confines of their marshy environs, in this case the Lizard Marsh near Daggerford. Fresh caught boiled Delimbyr Crayfish on wild chives, coastal carrageen moss entrapping estuary brine shrimp (irish moss, dried brine shrimp), Brackish-Berries (blackberries), Blackened Dart-Frog legs (frog legs) on spring sprouts (clover sprouts), roasted bog bugs on a stick!

Thatcheating because it is explicitly said its not a travel ration but a regular meal or party fare feast.

Even then I doubt Drown food would be that much different.

Drown ration still most likely consist mainly a fungus and mushrooms that are common in Underdark. Lumpfish, cavefish and snails are also quite logically easily accessible in such environment than, let's say trouts or salmon.

Bread, rice and other products requiring grain that are impossible to cultivate under earth surface without help of magic, would be considered a high class food because how hard is to grow it or because they must me imported from the surface. Quite possibly, cheese is also qite expensive and hard to get there, down there.

I bet that Drown is delightfully munching on a loaf of bread when nobody is watching. Or act hight and mighty when exchanging a truffle for a couple of dwarf crackers or some dry cheese but making gleefull happy dance inside his or her head.

Well, they somehow manage to make slave labour viable despite underground biomes being notoriously low on food (mushrooms are only a partial solution, because fungi themselves need to eat - soil that's been emptied out by one mycelium won't support a second until nutrients are added). If nothing else, they could milk the breeding slaves.
