I'm still of the opinion that Luck is a much better choice to minimize the risk to our person, since while Charisma makes us a political entity, all Luck does is make us useful and hard to kill. We attract loot and repel death. People who don't even particularly like us will want to be around us, and we don't pose much of a direct threat.
Luck is honestly a bit boring as acharacter trait though.

Is it as boring as turning every social encounter into beating someone over the head with our superior stats? Luck has really neat ways of manifesting, and gives excuses to create interesting, but improbable situations that we can use in our favor. It open up the range of things we can do and encounter without straining believability.

I personally wish Darkened had gone a step further and added Charisma to the blacklist along with intelligence.

I kind of agree. Charisma and intelligence should be tied to our personality decisions.

Our vote choices as it were.

[X] Running with a gang to watch your back. You need friends to get by on the streets.
[X] both: You know you're supposed to be special, you're awesome, but.. Yeah, the analysis guy or whatever might lie or get it wrong, that's all. He's working in lower city and there's no way anyone worth a damn would be.
[X] Uncrushable Wild-Flower
[X] Your high stat is Charisma ; your low stat is Strength
[X] Leader
[X] And won't everyone be excited to hear about this!

never make cha the dump stat.

Congrats, Dotty, you found probably the worst combo. That will be ultra hardmode.

[X] Making it alone. Gangs are nothing but trouble. Trusting anyone in the Lower City's a great way to end up on a cart with a collar on your neck
[X] Scared. You've wanted to be good, but face the facts, 9 out of 10 are just Ds or Es, ain't worth feeding or smartening up. At best you could be some foot soldier or merchant, but you're from the lower city so best ain't going to happen.
[X] Little Bee
[X] Your high stat is Perception; your low stat is Affinity
[X] What's your class?
-[X] Archer
[X] And you're never going back there.

For a healer, a designated support class?

We use stamina whenever we cast. We use strength whenever we hit things and carry stuff. Every other stats affects us more.

exactly.

stamina also means more hp though (and endurance in general), which anyone can benefit from in part regardless of context.

Oh, I thought you were saying it the other way around. My mistake. Also Bailey's mistake, since the build Darkened was talking about is Healer Charisma/Stamina, not yours.

Have a new vote count, just the stat\class votes. Currently it is Warshaper with high affinity\low charisma. Follow up is Leader with charisma\stamina. Not a fan of low stamina given how big it effects both health and magic.

Almost completely opposite builds hah

EDIT: Corrections. I misread a few votes.
EDIT 2 : Updated vote count, new runner up is Leader with charisma\strength

Since luck healer will inevitably lose, I'd rather some kind of scout.

Maybe we can find/steal a decent magic item early on and have it carry us for a while.

Damnit, and I went over the votes three times to make sure I didn't make mistakes like that. grumble, stupid strength and stamina

I like Healer-biokene idea more than leader-biokene, but I like either more than having item dependence on a monk.

Hm. You know, scanning works both ways...

If people can literally see that our charisma score is garbage, it'd probably be at least somewhat reassuring. If you can see they're bad at convincing people or lying, if they end up having a point or relaying you surprising information, you know for sure you're not being manipulated.

We could rise pretty high in an "honest" fashion, since people would prefer to surround themselves with low charisma allies, all other things being equal.

I'm not sure how being in a gang and then immediately leaving once we're worth something to somebody will turn out. Our strongest attribute means absolutely nothing when we're dirt poor, but our weakest means a lot. Maybe we didn't have "friends" so much as "people who will tolerate us, as long as we keep our head down and make ourselves useful". You can't just go killing gang members, even ones nobody really likes, since that's an insult to the gang. It doesn't take a sociopath to want to leave that kind of situation if the opportunity arises.

Actually, that means you're pathetically easy to manipulate. Someone checks the talker's high/low stat to consider who could be lying? Great, convince some poor sap you're telling the truth and have them talk to that person. Well, their charisma score sucks, so they must be telling the truth!

Hell, man.

If you pick Charisma, Leadership, and running with gang... why the hell you don't want to come back? Here is potential allies - let's squander them! Granted, they can bind us. But still.

Oh well.

I don't think Charisma is the "resist manipulation" stat. That'd most likely be Perception or Intelligence.

In which case we'd be no more vulnerable to manipulation than average, but poor at doing manipulation ourselves.

My point is that basing your opinions of others off of just their raw stats is not wise because stats don't tell you their motivation or source of intel.

Considering we're a scout, our most important information will probably be gathered firsthand, and Charisma also controls how well you can hide your intentions. Our motivation will be what we say it is, because if we lie they'll be able to tell.
