Video Games General

Any other games with Battle for Wesnoth-like class evolutions?
I already know of Mount & Blade's and I'm looking for RPGs.

Finished veilguard after 60ish hours and I have to say: it's alright, nothing crazy to write home about. I think some dialogue could have been different as well as better developed story beats but it's a solid game.

7/10 for me at least.

Edit: Posted very briefly because it was late Had many problems with the game ranging from the writing to some gameplay situation. I like the new lore parts and some stuff from it but quite frankly the writing suffered from half-assed implementation of a previous game instead of either not including it or just doing their own thing, they really leaned hard on the suicide mission mass effect type shit build up with having to do tons of side content to get better ending, one of the quests should not have at all been a side quest, I really don't think it should have been because it added context to the series gameplay issues it dropping three traveling companions, a problem because you miss out on more companion building, some of the companions clearly had a bit more though flushed into them than others, and again inquisition shit right I abhor gating gear I need/want behind inquisition power grinding, that really almost killed enjoyment, If I hadn't cheat engine'd the shops I might have lost my mind, I ended up doing all the side quests, well almost, because I like to explore but in the end of things most of it definitely had a middling impact just a tad through other situations. All in all the game on my own scale is a 3/5 or a 6/10 it would have been a 7/10 but that last act was just a slog. So many rug pulls in terms of "oh you thought we were done, psych hahahah"

Not even a full week later and I still cannot get over the Game Awards. This isn't me being salty about Astrobot getting game of the year, I don't care. Its a solid game without anything really negative to say about it. Its not the Elden Ring Fortnite that haunts my dreams either, though that is looking pretty alright as a co-op guy. Its Okami. I was fully expecting to never get a proper sequel to what is unquestionably my favorite game of all time, and for that show up... the only word I can think of is unbelievable.

Its ok. Game Awards are same kind of shlock Oscars are. Don't take it to the heart what games get rewards because it's all run by politics, lobbyst and narcissistic journalist and developers who belive they are respected and admiried celebrities.

Closest thing to mattering by being relatively fair but not really is Players Voice award.

So, was there any new game reveals or just plain old nothing?

They almost got away with it too because it is supposed to be a cat game and most gamers don't pay attention to this genre

Nothing good then? How unexpected.
Okami got a sequel anouncment there. It was short trailer without showing too much but its Okami so im pretty dang hyped about it.

Plus a few others that looked relatively exciting. So not a total waste. Probably worth a search of 'game award anouncments' to see all tralers on yt.

The best thing to do is to see for yourself as peoples tastes differ.

Capcom has been on a steak of good decisions from the Marvel vs Capcom collection and announcing games for dormant franchises like Okami and Onimusha.

I just hope that Onimusha isn't going to copy Sekiro in gameplay.

One of the Games shown during the Game Award, called Dispatch just hit a spot in the Top 150 most wishlisted games

Oh, Rebirth is up for sale already?

...Does anyone know what, if anything, carries over? I originally played it on PS4 and got it on PC for the mods, but I never finished the game on PC- or Intergrade. Need to do that. But I want to know what I should worry about transferring to Rebirth ie how many of the minigames and frustrating boss fights I should bother to re-do and if I should even bother finishing the game.

Iirc you get a summon materia for having save data for the first game, and another for Intergrade, on your system when you play Rebirth. I forget if it's clear data or just any data at all.

They're not worth the effort imo, just start Rebirth.

The most interesting announcements for me were Okami (obvious, given my prior comment on the topic), Onimusha, Dispatch (superhero dispatch officer sounds hilarious), and Elden Ring Nightreign. Co-op Elden Roguelike sounds like a blast, provided I can drag some friends into it.

I used my PS4 for the first time in years and am now encountering some problems

Simply put, I can't get it to identify my PS4 controllers even when I press the PS button

Any help? I am surprised it still works, I aim to have it cleaned tomorrow just in case

Netmarble, the company behind the Solo Leveling Arise game is apparently looking for content creator for their sixth season.

Go and pre-register for it if any of you likes. I drop a link but not sure if it's against the rules and regulations of this website.

You guys can check it out and possibly hit it big. It's quite the sensation. Earn some extra cash.

First reset the controller by putting a pin in the hole at the back and pushing the button for like 10 seconds, plug the controller in via USB to the PS4, hold the ps button and share button (top left) and that should fix it iirc.

I was able to connect but only via USB this morning

Not sure how to pair again, will
Try later

Currently playing Destiny, somehow reminds me of back when I played Halo years ago, probably due to being the same company and recycling some stuff

Anyway, I don't want to pay to play online

I'd like to do quests without Fireteams, in part because I bet I'd have bad luck getting people to come along

Any suggestions? Want to do the campaign

Lookin at Medabots (my beloved niche franchise never ever to be in english ever again) and found something pretty funny

So there's Blossomail who's pretty 'scary' right? Its successor (Gothic Mate) is a succubus bot

And its designer went on a whole-ass tirade about it

In a Q&A segment on its announcement stream, Gothicmate designer's Fujioka Kenki discussed the thought process behind its design. Fujioka explained that four years prior, he suffered a debilitating brain hemorrhage that left the left side of his body paralyzed and turned his life into a living nightmare for a time. As a result of his living condition, his perception of demonic and hellish imagery changed and he thought to himself that if he was unavoidably dragged by a demon, he would like it to be adorable. This thought informed Gothicmate's' concept, and her ability to Medachange was meant to convey that behind her cute appearance was a irreversibly dangerous being.

Gothicmate's base form was made with the idea of a being that lure men with her appearance and took inspiration from the "devilish fashion" subculture in Japan. Her transformed appearance is meant to convey an out-of-control being.

"There is no remedy for love but to love more" is the name of all its parts together. Yanderebot

Fighting Ex Layer went all Fighting Game Plot because everyone keeps changing their fuckin name

Hokuto isn't actually Hokuto she's Nanase who's taking Hokuto's place because Hokuto went bonkers and became a demon using her true name Shirase

Nanase isn't actually Nanase but a nearly similar cousin who had Nanase's memories transplanted to keep the sham going on that their heirs are going batshit insane and their ancestral demon enemy is out there rampaging and possessing their honored divine ancestor

I mean it's easy once you get the details down but woo boy

I want a game with the immersion of Egosoft's X games but it's basically Transport Tycoon.

Not Satisfactory but gives the option of driving through point-A and B to sell stuff, or set up a railway to do it automatically. Said points being actual towns and industrial facilities.

I think Voxel Turf but it's more Sim City meets GTA.
