Video Games General

Won't bother. This is a complete reboot of World V1, with the players once more controlling Kite. There is no Haseo and Sora is still a child brat that doesn't know that killing doesn't equal friendship.
Huh, not sure how I feel about that.

Then again iirc the last point in the series was Aura defragging herself in the form of an arena battle game after her thumbdrive was picked out of a lake by a more technopathic than normal guy after rescuing her from that one apocalypse cult. I have no memory what the state of the internet or whatever the latest version of the World was was.

Honestly, given everything that has happened since Dot Hack first came out, a reboot of the series is the smartest move instead of trying to explain World V3 and V4 and.... I have no idea about the canon state of what you described. I'm only sad that the reboot likely deletes the character my user name is stolen from.

Edit: Also, can you imagine trying to explain the old internet to people that only know the internet of Reddit and Imgur?

To be fair, in some games that would be. PvP is a perfectly legitimate manner of play after all. It's just manga and anime being weird about it.

But a reboot? Guess I don't have to wonder how Aura got an edgy phase in that trailer since then. And I don,t really have to look up what the fuck that timeline of events is after GU.

Wish they could have just changed the designs too, but I guess Kite and Black Rose's styles are too iconic for that.

Finally playing Hades. On run 4, couldn't pass Meg on run 3.

Zeus: "Here on Olympus, Nephew, we take care of one-another and support each-other-"

...It was at this moment that I knew there was some fucked shit going on in the background because Zeus you are so full of shit.
To be fair the Hades olympians seem far tamer than most other representations, who knows? Maybe Zeus only struck down half the people he normally would?

Judging by its appearance alone, one could never tell that this was a villainous pyramid-scheme mastermind!

It seemed even Kyubey knew that people's vigilance is often lower toward cute things.
Even Kyubey knew this, yet there were some game developers whose brains had been kicked by donkeys who didn't.

Drawing hideously obese female protagonists and actually expecting players to pay for it?
Right? RIGHT??
Probably...but, it's actually quite possible to create cool looking "obese" female (and male) characters. Just google "Concord characters" and it becomes obvious that the actual problem is the "hideous" part. A more butt-ugly set of outfits I've seldom seen, and not even in an interesting way.

"I'm heard of pod people before, but not pod gods. That's not Zeus."

@Skitzyfrenic Should I have posted this in rants for you~?

I HAVE BEEN SUMMONED! Oh, ew.

No. I dislike Lancer- well, standard Lancer, it works okay for a magical girl game- but I have always thought it would do better as a video game.

I think Lancer tries to be too many sci-fi settings at once, I don't feel particularly mecha (whether it's 'real robots' or 'super robots') while playing it, and the corebook lore never really hooked me (which I think is critical to get into a game, you have to get hooked in the corebook otherwise it's going to trend to too big an investment, imo), except for the eldritch math and paracasualty. The mechanics are somewhat similar to what I remember from D&D 4e (I played that for a few months), playing Lancer, to me, feels like playing a video game translated to a tabletop. Like a hero shooter but tabletop-erized.

And I'm always surprised at how long my turn takes. And I'm the artillery player, so my job is entirely to shoot my big gun.

I also really love tactics games. Honestly, if this was a good tactics game, with a good story and it was my first introduction to Lancer, I'd probably suck it off. But we don't know yet about the quality of the game or the story, and it wasn't, so.

Also no, you shouldn't have posted in rants because then I'd be inclined to rant about it.

Yes. That's what I replying to? The trailer for that exact game and being pinged to talk about it.

My guy, I'm lost. What're you trying to do here?

You've basically summed up my entire issues with Lancer in a shellnut. Well the issues that aren't linked to the "only sidegrades" game design that is ...

Should I do it? Should I establish a new Dynasty, and stab Merneptah in the back, uniting Egypt under the sun disc of Aten? Or should I roleplay as the loyal and grateful exiles from the sea, that are now defending the throne of the ruler that allowed them into his people's midst, and fight to the last in his name, even if they embraced a heretic god? Both honestly sound fun.

I'm wondering what happened to this playthrough. Did you take over as a Pharaoh or did you stay loyal to the end?

Civil War ended and went on a ~20 turn cooldown, with Seti on the throne, before I could join in. That, and me being busy with IRL stuff kept me from playing the game all that much.

So for now I think I'm gonna finish the wars I'm fighting, and then build up my strength to depose the usurper.

Played the Pragmata demo.

I'm fully down for the backpack hacker daughter and power suit fighter dad combo game play.

Diana is cute and I want to protect her. But I'm half afraid that the devs will be evil and do something horrible to her.

Let me protect my android daughter and not let anything bad happen to her Capcom!

I almost want to pre-order it. But I'm sticking to my no pre-ordering commitment after getting burned to many times.

But more importantly, how the hell was I not aware of the game for the past almost six years? I only found out about it by accident when watching something a few weeks back. But then again I haven't been watching any video games reveal shows for awhile now. So it's probably on me for not looking.

Anyone else interested in the game?

Missed the days when no commentary 100% walkthroughs meant the person doing them were good at playing the game instead dieing in combat or platforming or shit like that.

Stella blade was a shit show to find anyone halfway decent at the game uploading on youtube for this.

Playing the Windrose demo and I don't know how far I am to the end yet, if there is one. So I'm treating it more like a free Easy Access.

I only played because it was free and I didn't know what to expect other than a few early game moments from a streamer I followed.

The first thing that came to mind after a few minutes in was Valheim due to crafting being somewhat streamlined, and then some where there's less arbitrarily climbing the IRL tech tree since you can go from copper-age to Age-of-Sail via loot. Which I've found pleasantly surprising since it's one of the few instances I know where equipment can be found rather than needing to be crafted like in Valheim. Furthermore, tools and weapons don't need to be repaired AND you have a generous amount of stamina for running, with quick recharge so long as you have a rested buff(which also lasts a few minutes).

There's also a major time efficiency jump between stone and copper tools. But again I'm still early so I can't comment on anything about it next. Right now I'm focusing on rescuing sailors for a future ship crew.

Gunpowder is rare and according to some sources it only drops from enemy pirates along with rum. So I personally suggest not wasting your metal on crafting bullets since you'll likely find some when exploring ruins. I also currently recommend searching for loot and upgrading that instead of upgrading your own base equipment since you'll be replacing them anyway for items with stat bonuses.

I'd argue combat is fair so long as you're actually ready for fighting. Knowing the visual cues for dodging while also taking into account everything around you. Boars are still a major pain though because they hit hard.

The only complaint I have at the moment is you can't hold and attack for mining or chopping wood(as far as I know). And it feels a bit rushed being given your first dingy for free instead of crafting one yourself which I feel like is better earned, but that's just me. Also unlike Valheim, you can conveniently call your ship to your shore-location and use it to access any fast-travel point(which you have to set up first).

Almost forgot. Fast travel has to be the most convenient and generous things in this game. Although the only limit seems to be that it can't be inland, which I guess ruins the whole point of being a game about pirates traveling between different islands. Food is similar to Valheim but only has two solid-food slots and one long-term-potion slot, which functions differently to health potions.

There might be more things I'm forgetting but overall I should really join up with a group to make things more convenient for myself.
