What if a cop kills a DC villain?

So I got really curious and decided to find out what happens if a cop kills a villain like The Joker with a lucky headshot. Google doesn't give me a result and instead shows me sites pertaining to force-abuse or self defense laws.

So, if a cop does get a lucky hit, would the other villains gang up on him? Would the government commend him or condemn him? How would the heroes react? What would Batman do?

I mean, DC heroes don't even kill those that commit world-ending bs. Guys that would get a kill order on Worm or a kill-on-sight status in Marvel end up in the revolving doors of various prisons. At some point, wouldn't the guys in blue, or the government for that matter, decide that these assholes are just too dangerous to leave alive?

Probably the same consequences as a cop killing a street criminal while caught on camera in RL, even if it doesn't make sense in the comics book world. This is because superhero comics still adhere to RL norms even when it doesn't make sense.

Remember, there was a time when the Joker was the Iranian ambassador and had diplomatic immunity (that batman & superman had to adhere to until he tried to kill everyone at the UN meeting).

The same thing in real life.

Paperwork.

Then they get put on paid administrative leave.

Basically bureaucracy happens.

Also note that DC does have the Suicide Squad, which technically are villains and super criminals shackled with bombs to blow off their heads, to do things for the government.

Simply being in line of sight with a fair number of the DC supervillians should count as a lethal threat.

If it is the Joker, I'd feel afraid for my life being on the same city block.

But that's not how police are judged for lethal use of force. I think police that kill somebody automatically go on admin leave while an internal investigation works. Anybody arguing that it was unjustified would have a pretty hard time, IMO.

I'd expect the person and their families moved into protective custody, but it is entirely possible that nobody cares aside from the party thrown in Gotham (assuming he stays dead).

Batman would either investigate to see if this was a hit or just self defense.
Them he would either decide to leave to cop alone or arrest him.(Batman could leave him alone regardless but would monitor him for about a week if Batman thinks the cop went out on purpose to kill the Joker just to make sure it is not going to be a pattern).
Batman is okay with cops /civies shooting criminals in self defense.

The heroes would either not care that much or would be apathetic and only concerned with gossip relating to the case

The government is up in the air depending on who is trying to get elected and who wants to frame it negativley.

The most danger comes from getting the attention of criminals.

I mean, there was an entire EPISODE of Batman: The Animated Series that took an opposite approach where a low-rank gangster (apparently) offed Batman. Sid The Squid caught the attention of THE JOKER for his trouble. Still got incredible street cred at the end, though.

Properly an immediate transfer to another city's police department with armed surveillance and a hefty raise and promotion followed by a life time of ridicule for killing a mentally disturbed man, nightly visits by Batman and definitely hourly assassin attempts by every thug trying to make a name for themselves by killing the man who brought down the Joker and finally the unrelenting murder attempts Harley would throw at him likely with the reluctant help of Ivy who wouldn't want her friend to die.

For criminals, cops play an essential role. I got online casinos site on Google: https://casinosanalyzer.com/online-casinos/new-casinos and I need your advice. And when I click on this link, I find a tonne of websites where I may play casino games. But can you tell me more about it? I don't know much about it.

The government's response could vary, potentially leading to legal and political ramifications. Heroes like Batman would likely be outraged, seeing it as undermining their moral code.
