Might be the phrasing in that sentence. The si is Alexander.
Yeah its too early for Moretti, which is I admit a pity. Its 98, and I really couldn't find a way to include in the timeline Vic's presence, introducing Pancho is easy, he's the next county over, a lot of the other book deputies are easy, but even working off of the novels (as I am) I would have to connive some explanation for her to not be back east. Like in the books she seems to have moved out to absaroaka in 02. The one theoretical working solution is that the coal job might have flown them out but that's a stretch feasibility timeline wise, since yeah a year before they move sure, three four thats a stretch.Just want to say I like the way this story is going, especially with the Longmire bits. Though I'm a bit sad- I think it's too early for Vic to make an appearance and I like Katee Sackoff. I'm interested to see how the relationship between the Rez and the rest of the County develops. Hope to see more soon.
Spare horses is of course the main factory in any sort of welll really any pre modern want to cover a lot of ground, with rain being the other factor, followed by keeping horse shoed, and down the list. and of course when we think of knights we think of specifically western Europe, and of relatively small period and a relatively small geographic area, and indeed for much of the early conflicts in western europe (much of the viking age conflicts, so milites not 'Knights' of the post norman conquest england), armies were also relatively small which of course changed as improvements to european farming mounted and supported larger populations, and of course greater horse breeding capacity on the continent. [The modern finnish horse is quite a bit larger on average than its pre 30 years war ancestor due to introduction of studs from the continent]SI in Wyoming - good choice,no bigger cities there. He could become daimyio there.Or jarl?
Now,about technology - they do not need keep medieval tech, chemistry, health and agriculture could be at at least 1900AD level. And in book they still used gliders and better scorpions.Flamethrowers,too.Maybe scorpions with napalm bombs ?
other ideas - mounted infrantry on horses or bicycles as archers or huscarls.
horse archers with lances and maces.Becouse maces negate mail and any armour except plate.Shrewd from 1066 showed norman knight using not only swords, but bats like those used by modern players.
Heavy calvary - if he have good warmblood horses, form winged hussarls. They were only formation able of breaking through pikes, knights was unable to do so.
And was very mobile - in 1675 polish King Sobieski made 400km on steppe in 5 days with them, and beaten tatars in battle next day.Of course, they had spare horses.
Militia - gave them crossbows or pikes and maces with gambestone - one of easier armour to made.Molotov coctays, too. And plumbata for short range/throwing weapon/
If you train slingers, they could use molotov coctails, too. And even on horseback - when greek mercaneries retreated from Persia ,they were raided by horse archers - slingers on horseback repelled them.
You need right order of monks to keep technology - cisterian would be best.
Best for calvary was winged hussarl saber, but it need time and good blacksmits. So,for now, gave calvary shields and maces.
Well, that would be all for now.
I've read some fanfics for the Emberverse that point out that, eventually, static defenses will be too hard to crack without betrayal, plague, or other outside factors. So things become static and rather boring, except for explorations into the new (old) frontiers. But in the first years and decades, the fires of war burn bright! Horrible to live in but fun to read about.
IIRC, about a decade after the Change an engineer got a flywheel powered automatic bolt thrower to work pretty well. At the present though, a magazine loading crossbow is probably looking good. One could use a hydraulic piston to 'crank' it.The airguns would be a good idea, but the canon mechanics of how the Magic Whammy™ destroys guns and internal combustion makes structured pneumatics useless, too.
