With This Ring (Young Justice SI) (Thread Fourteen)

I'm kinda hopin OL gives his counterpart the option to leave Naziland.

Would be unlike him to abandon a place he could improve so much.

First, the word is sapients, sentients are animals, not Humans and the like.

Second, the travel blockers only cover a small, strategic area and have minimal testing, of course there's gaps in the network, but that hardly makes them useless.

Edit:Also, as was pointed out by Ngamer11, they're based on a design we've seen be worked around before, so it's hardly surprising that a version of Nabu, one of the best mages on the planet, was able to get around ant protection they might give against magic dimensional travel.

Well, we're sentient too.

Sentient means "aware" and sapient "able to reason" right?

So some animals are sapient too.

Thank you, corrected.

I don't want to give a hard figure. A lot.

Also, come on guys. I deliberately put in the line in the last episode about them turning the jammers off so they could get rid of the Legionnaires.

The jammers only were down for like... five minutes? Unless they are really stupid.

Or you know, it may take time for the jammers to fully activate and cover the necessary area.

And as previous posters have mentioned, the jammers aren't perfect and there may be ways to bypass them.

Another person managing to bypass their defences doesn't indicate that their defences are stupid, it just indicates that the other guy has ways to bypass them.

Or since the jammers only cover Earth and the Legion can survive in space, they could have given them a time machine in some close by planet or in space.

As people were pointing out after the previous chapter (and probably before) she's probably running on silver age moral standards so it wouldn't really be surprising to find out that many forms of non-human intelligences count as non-people in her eyes.
Silver Age Moral Standards are "Slavery is bad.".

Weird thought when people see the Nazi invasion try to stop the demon invasion who would they root for? Considering Overgirl has been here a while and hasn't hurt anyone who doesn't deserve it and Heaven literally started a war and killed countless people because of a fruit I'd lean Nazi, but I'm not sure the impact those events had on everyday citizens.

At best it'd be rooting against Hell because:
One of the many advantages of Nazis is that you don't have to justify shit. "Hey, this guy's a Nazi, would you like to drown him in his own piss?" the game might ask. "Sorry, did you say something? I was busy drowning a Nazi in his own piss," we might reply.

I don't think a lot of people know that Overgirl is, or rather was, a Nazi, so their opinion on Nazis may not have changed much and they may still think that they're pieces of shit in a human form.

As for the Angels, they didn't actually kill countless people, just a few.

They killed Ted after he spoke in favor for Paul, though they had a hand in his resurrection.

And they also killed Paul, but brought him back later on.

They're reputation may have taken some hits after that, but probably not that much, since Paul had done a few controversial things by then so his reputation may not have been the best.

And a lot of the other people they killed were somehow involved with demons or were into some evil shit, so if people know about these kills them they may be okay with the Angels doing them and think the dead deserved it, which, yeah, they probably did, at least some of them.

Most people may be predisposed to thinking of Angels as being pure good.

The invasion may have soured that a bit and now they may think that they're flawed, but still ultimately benevolent beings.

And Zauriel may have gotten involved in superheroics, so he could be rebuilding some of their reputation.

Opening the door so someone can leave, runs with the assumption that you aren't an idiot and will immediately close the door after they do. :p

Didn't Lois Lane write a story about Overgirl? and I think Ted and Paul were just the only Hellenist that died any followers of other religions would have been sent to other afterlives and we didn't see all the people that resurrected so I always assumed there was a lot more we didn't see.

Didn't Lois Lane write a story about Overgirl

Not really.

In fact I'm not sure she knows that Overgirl used to be a Nazi.

When Angelika was showing them the Kryptonian martial art, Lois was talking to Paul and mentioned the thunderbolt like symbol on her uniform and its connection to the Nazis, though I don't think she figured out that she was a Nazi and Paul didn't tell her but changed the subject to giving her superpowers.

If she wrote a story about her then it may just be about a new Kryptonian showing up, but nothing about Nazis.

Especially since this was before Angelika had her epiphany of Nazism being wrong.

and I think Ted and Paul were just the only Hellenist that died any followers of other religions would have been sent to other afterlives and we didn't see all the people that resurrected so I always assumed there was a lot more we didn't see.

Yeah, one way that they made up for the invasion was to resurrect all the people that died by their hands, no matter the afterlife.

Except for the ones that ended up in Hell.

And as previous posters have mentioned, the jammers aren't perfect and there may be ways to bypass them.

Yeah. I'm sure the universe hopping jammers you got from an evil alternate version of yourself are absolutely perfect with no way to bypass them. Hell, given the changes Paul made to the multiverse even if Baul did have good intentions, they may not work the same anymore.

Hey. Baul isn't evil. He's just... morally challenged.

We finally get the pay off on the Nazi Earth chapters.
I can't help but notice that this is a bunch of interdimensional incursions when they're supposed to have machines that stop interdimensional invasions.

They need to upgrade those machines. Because they clearly only work on one thing and the tactical advantage of making enemies unable to appear right in the middle of cities is clearly not there in the manner that the machines promised.

edit: Huh, reading the zoatpost, I completely missed them turning the jammers off. Nevermind then.

Mr Zoat implied that Earth 10 was only able to create a portal to Earth 16 because the defenses were lowered to let the Legion of Super-Heroes go home.

Oh God!

How many more power girls can possibly show up!? There can't be more than a dozen Supergirl variants right!!!?
https://dc.fandom.com/wiki/Supergirl
This page has 183 supergirls.
Though a lot of them are elseworld variants of similar backstories, just in different realities.

Mr Zoat implied that Earth 10 was only able to create a portal to Earth 16 because the defenses were lowered to let the Legion of Super-Heroes go home.
Yeah only read that after posting.
If you refresh the page you'll see the edit I put in in response to reading that.

"I can see it."

Angelika is shaking with excitement, her hands clenching and unclenching as she tries to work out what to do with them.

"I can see it. They're coming!" Something occurs, and her hands still. "They're coming. What do I tell them?"

"Okay, firstly, we don't know for certain that it's them. It's a way to access parallel universes. This could be anyone. Secondly… This could just be a test. It's entirely possible that they're using the equipment for the first time but aren't going to send through anything more sophisticated than a biological sample container."

She nods. "I know."

"And given how injured you were, it's possible that nothing is going to come through intact."

She takes a moment to steady her breathing.

"Yes, yes, I know."

"But on the off-chance that someone comes through and it's not Karl Kant, have you thought about how you're going to handle it?"

"Almost every day since I have been here." She looks around, taking in 21st century non-national socialist Germany. "Most of the other New Statesmen or other heroes do not have improved vision, so they will not immediately see... Ah…"

"All the wanton degeneracy?"

"Ah. Yes. So that will be easier."

"Are you planning on going back?"

"That-. It would depend. If this portal can be maintained and I could travel back and forth, then I would rather visit home and then return here. If it is harder… It would depend on what the restrictions were." She frowns. "Why do you think this is happening now?"

"We did turn off the devices blocking travel to parallel universes for an hour a few days ago."

"It does not appear to be a barrier."

"Not an absolute barrier, no. But it blocked some types of inter-parallel sensors and disrupted some… Things it couldn't block completely. This could be the result of them now knowing that there's something here to access." I shrug. "Or… Something else. Maybe this is just how long it took."

"Are you worried that it might be the demons?"

I take out a rune stone and hold it towards the point of maximum oddity. No reaction.

"No. A demon portal would require huge amounts of magic. I'm honestly not sure if it's even possible to move from one parallel reality to another with magic."

"Are demons incapable of using machinery?"

"It's not that they can't, it just… Demons aren't usually good at technology. Even with everything Satanus devised, it relies on the presence of a high magic environment to allow the damned souls operating it to remain manifested. Or for the weapons themselves to work. A soul can't just step through a portal to the material universe and carry on as if nothing happened."

"So if demons from the Demonearth come through, then their weapons will not work."

"I'm not sure. Demon Supergirl wasn't possessed, just highly tainted. If they attack with infused cultists and metahumans, those should still function… For a while."

"And then what?"

"Without a source of demonic magic they would… Eventually lose most of the taint. I think. By default, anyway; there are ways to get around that with magic use."

"They would be freed?"

"Ah, they would no longer be compelled with demon magic. I imagine that after spending that long in such an environment that most of them would remain 'Markist'."

"Because even without the compulsion, it is what they are used to."

"I was thinking more that the shape of their thoughts would have been altered rather than it being a matter of pure habit, but, yes."

She's quiet for a moment.

"They would have a Kal-El, wouldn't they?"

"Probably, but I can't say for certain."

"They had a Supergirl."

"Yes, but one doesn't necessarily follow the other. For all we know, House El might have been involved with Earth for years before the whole demon thing happened. Or the fixation with the mark might come from a Kryptonian ship or data probe that arrived on Earth."

She looks at me.

"But you don't believe that."

"But I don't believe that."

"How much stronger would Kal-El be if he was given power by demons?"

"I'm not really sure how demons could give him power. He… Shouldn't be sufficiently in tune with Earth's thaumatic fields to use magic. They could make weapons for him; he'd be able to use those. But as for physically enhancing him, I wouldn't think so."

"We can fight him, then?"

"How much better than yours is New Kara's hearing?"

"I am only partially kryptonian. But her hearing is better than 'old' Kara's hearing as well." Angelika nods. "So the kryptonian of one universe is not the same as a kryptonian of another."

"And he'd be far more savage than the Kal-Els we're used to. He'd be fighting to kill from the start, and not at all concerned for collateral damage."

"Why is his mark so important?"

"It's important to their Kara. Nabu didn't seem bothered." She nods. "I don't know. It might be-."

Her eyes widen. "It's opening!"

Alright. Send a notification to the League and to the German government, prepare a railgun but keep it in the at rest position and generate construct armour-.

A red circle with black patches about two metres across swells into being, hands… Somehow holding the edges and pushing it open. I see the pale skin redden and blister as the owner somehow forces the primordial energies of the universe to comply with nothing but brute strength.

"Karl!"

Angelika darts forward, grabbing the edge of the portal from this side and helping the man I assume to be Overman maintain it. He notices her and smiles before shifting his body to this side. A three count and they both let go, allowing the portal to close up on itself.

Overman studies the area the portal was in for a moment, presumably checking that it's behaving as expected. Then he gives Angelika his full attention, smiling warmly at her.

"Angelika."

They both check each other over and then blur together, arms wrapped around one another, her face in the crook of his neck and his pressed into the top of her head.

"Karl."

Ah.

This… Feels awkward.

Well New Gods can do it, and they're technology is basically magic with electricity.

Though they may connect to the Hell of Earth 16.

And what I'm assuming is some Kryptonian martial art technique.

The both check each other

'They both'

This is so sweet you can almost forget they're nazis.

I wonder if Karl could help with the diseased were-unicorn kryptonian (fake doomsday) the Justice League fought a while ago. Or if he could help parole the other kryptonians in the phantom zone. After all, Earth might be able to put some enterprising demigods to work in an upcoming arc.

Someone get Canis! I want to see if this scene will make him vomit.

Hehehe, the idea of people just brute forcing something like that must really get on OL's nerves.
