With This Ring (Young Justice SI) (Thread Fourteen)

It occurs to me that 'Batman was supposed to come through after we did' doesn't actually mean that he's not here already.
I mean, ten seconds is still 'after us'

This version of batman should be easily detected by ring-scans though, unless this whole place is so magical that it fucks with all attempts to scan.

I've enhanced Kon-El quite a bit. Danner Formula, his bond with Helios, his equipment and getting him training with Diana. I don't think that Jonathan Kent has any similar upgrades. He only had… Months with Ultraman still being alive, and after that he had far fewer resources to find a way to augment himself. I remember him being a bit faster back in LexCorp, but that was all.
The joy of actually liking party members.

"You were Ultraman's son. I was Owlman's test subject. I survived him implanting a computer in my brain by a combination of luck and the deaths of every test subject before me. I wasn't meant to live this long."
Ah, he's in full 'Red Hood'-stage anti-hero mode now.

"I've been looking for a way to 'problem solve' the Syndicate since before we broke you out of Cadmus. The only reason that mission even happened was because I was hoping to find one of Luthor's weapon caches."
Well, they kind of did. It was just a cache of living weapons.

"Jonathan Kent, aka 'Ultraboy'. Ultraman's adopted son, created in a laboratory by Lex Luthor and freed during the Young Offenders' first mission. You don't have a Superboy, do you? Your Luthor just made Bizarro."
Fascinating variation, really. If I remember right, there was a problem with license rights involved...

"I didn't think President Wilson would kill him out of hand."
You never do think things through, do you, guys?

"What, you think Wilson never killed nobody? You actually know what he did in the army?" Jonathan snorts. "Blue looked it up one time. Guess he thought it'd make us see power his way. Just showed me that Wilson's full of shit."
So, same special ops history as his Deathstroke counterpart, minus the super-soldier program, eh?

Superman shakes his head. "Batman said we didn't know enough about how things worked here."
Maybe you should have listened...

"What does it take to get it through you thick skull...
"What does it take to get it through your thick skull...

that constantly killing people doesn't get you what you want? I don't want money, I don't want any power the Syndicate could give me, I just don't want a ringside seat at a massacre."
"Going home would be a bonus at this point!"

I mean, for goodness-. No. No. Sonic baffle, telepathic scrambler… And a dust sheet. I put the sheet over his bubble and the baffle and scrambler down nearby.
Got sick of debating with him, eh?

"Okay!" Back to the Justice League. "Some things are sent to try us, and I really hope Eris is getting a laugh out of this."
Do be sure to tell her about all this when you get home.

"Then would depend. What is Plan Q?"
"That would depend. What is Plan Q?"

"And neither will the Senators and Congressional Representatives who survived his purge. Or the army officers, or the Justice Underground. Even if you could get Luthor to agree to it. Or just.. people in general. And if I had an orange laser I wouldn't bother explaining this to you."
Welp... looks like the Syndicate pissed off a lot of people...

"We'll need to avoid Brainstorm" I clap Talon in irons, then shock crown Duela and remove her brand. "I realise that I can't stop the rest of you escaping, but… Please, unless you have a better idea, let me handle this, at least until Mister J'onzz can report back."
Somehow, I don't think this'll work out well...

And then I hear an explosion.
Dammit, Eris, can't you wait five minutes?!

Let's hope it's just some roughhousing amongst drunk guests...

"The evening is young, and this is a supervillain party being invaded by superheroes. Mister J'onzz? Still up for a walkabout, or… Do we move on to Plan Q?"

"Then would depend. What is Plan Q?"

"I summon the Embodiment of Avarice and mind control the planet. I'm just having one of those days."
Wait, would this-

*ahem* Hold on, no, gotta ask it in Zoat-speak.

Does the SI know if this would work? Summoning the Ophidian through dimensions? Or is the SI just planning to make friends with this dimension's Ophidian?

I mean... You could try... But unless Zoat rewrites the rules again the most that's likely to get you is Larfleeze the kind and benevolent coming down on your ass.

JLAU Batman is supposed to be a master of mystic kung-fu ninja bullshit.

Isn't the Ophidian tied to Paul's soul? I would think the soul could ignore such piddling details as alternate realities.

Miiight not be a good idea though. What happens with two Ophidians in one universe?

Was this the version of Batman that knew how to astral project? Hard to keep track.

Congratulations, you have discovered that this is a fictional story. While most fictional stories have exactly 100% of their content imagined and written by the author, this fictional story has a lower percentage, owing to numerous references to other fictional works.

I hope that you are not alarmed by the fact that Zoat has not re-written all of the rules, as is the case in a normal work of fiction. Thank you for reading With This Ring, and come again tomorrow for the next chapter.

They aren't supposed to be able to move between realities.

There would be an almost immediate fight to the death in the orange place because Avarice can't abide sharing.

What's worse would be what happens to the universe now missing it's embodiment. Because we know exactly what happens in such cases, and it's hella bad for sentient life.

Maybe, it's been awhile since I watched the Animated Series.

But this is for sure the Batman that can dodge Omega Beams and completely disappear from small locked rooms the moment you turn you back on him.

Quite frankly at this point I would have personally left this reality to burn in it's own mindless cycle of revenge.
Ah, but Paul and Zatanna are considered to be members of the Syndicate by the United States of -14 America, and Luthor has dimensional tech. Combine that with how the legislature is full of the Senators and Representatives that "survived Wilson's purges" and I suspect that if the revenge boner doesn't get a cold shower before they leave, then it'll need tending later when the Syndicate native to -14 isn't enough to satisfy.

You forget, even if OL might not be able to summon HIS Ophidian, but he should be able to summon - 12 Ophidian, without getting Larfleeze involved, since he has already done so in his own universe, back in the VR episode.

That was crazy incompetent horrible person Larfleeze...

So under Crime World rules this Larfleeze should be sane, competent, and a good person.

Which means the Ophidian would have no reason to leave him for Paul.

Are Qwardians canonically color-blind, or is that just a way Mr Zoat came up with to make their non-use of green lasers acceptable? (Though I could probably just hand-wave comics Lanterns' shields blocking offensive green light because of hypertech). It's a very amusing detail either way.

I suppose given Jason Todd usually becomes an anti-hero, it makes sense for Talon to become an anti-villain of sorts. That was probably obvious but it can be hard to keep track of the moral reversals sometimes.

I wonder what Syndicate-Earth's Eris is like, assuming she exists and wasn't killed in the Titanomachy or anything. If she's more positively or productively chaotic that would actually fit in well with Paragon's mindset.

But it would get his attention and if reversed morality parrallel Larfleeze isn't evil then that means he could totally ask for help from Good Larfleeze. Which would be worth it all on its own.

The SI was being facetious.
Under Crime World rules, Larfleeze might not be an Orange Lantern.

Larfleeze lived a long and happy life before dying of natural causes. Worry more about Lord Orange.

"Fuck this. Ophidian, get in here!"

"It's SNEK TIME, HONEY!"

Fascinating variation, really. If I remember right, there was a problem with license rights involved.

Ah, Lawyers. Fucking things up for everyone even in fictional alternate realities.

Larfleeze is a Good Boy!

No, no this is not the Batman who can dodge Omega Beams. This is the Batman who managed to temporarily play keep-away with Omega Beams until he could interpose a convenient Parademon at the last second as the beams hit.

"Batgod who can dodge Omega Beams" came later when Batfans getting the chance to run the asylum remembered that and exaggerated it Because He's Batman.

There may not be a Larfleeze. Krona won the fight in this parallel IE there weren't any surviving 'evil' Guardians making orange lanterns based from Krona research, the troops of love exist because they split long before that event happened. If best snake is trapped in this parallels too then she is probably inside a massive orange crystal somewhere.

Firestorm once used his matter control power to create a funnel out of thin air so that Darkseid smacked himself in the face with the omega beams.

A funnel!

So apparently all it takes to make the omega beams not an issue is some plumbing equipment.
