  • Due to issues with external spam filters, QQ is currently unable to send any mail to Microsoft E-mail addresses. This includes any account at live.com, hotmail.com or msn.com. Signing up to the forum with one of these addresses will result in your verification E-mail never arriving. For best results, please use a different E-mail provider for your QQ address.
  • For prospective new members, a word of warning: don't use common names like Dennis, Simon, or Kenny if you decide to create an account. Spammers have used them all before you and gotten those names flagged in the anti-spam databases. Your account registration will be rejected because of it.
  • Since it has happened MULTIPLE times now, I want to be very clear about this. You do not get to abandon an account and create a new one. You do not get to pass an account to someone else and create a new one. If you do so anyway, you will be banned for creating sockpuppets.
  • Due to the actions of particularly persistent spammers and trolls, we will be banning disposable email addresses from today onward.

With This Ring (Young Justice SI) (Thread Fourteen)

Well Zoat, at least you won't have to worry about getting banned over trivial things here. I'm gonna be happy to reading all the stuff that you write in the near future.

Don't know if it's already old news and I'm just going back to lurking after this, but you always have Alternate History, should the need arise.

They have FandomAH so WTR could keep going in the DC/Young Justice section if Zoat feels like it
Oh, come on. Two transfers in five and a half years isn't that bad.
But you can apparently be arrested for breaking into your own car.
You can be arrested for breaking into your own apartment. However, once it is established that it is your own apartment, they have to let you go. Unless you've made an arse of yourself in the interim.

Edit: link deleted, though I'm sure you can find examples if you look. One of the recent high profile examples is particularly amusing.

You can be arrested for a lot of things that aren't actually illegal. Arrest just means you did something that a law enforcement officer could reasonably believe was illegal.

Getting convicted for forcing your way into your own property? Unlikely.

It's like you don't even know us anymore.

Excessive dickishness sure, but not that.
Hmm. I may be in more trouble here than I thought... ;)

So.... any godspeech Plugin for this site?

I installed on SB, then moved to SV.
I installed on SV, then moved to QQ.
Any links?
As pointed out by Twilight666, you can use an extension like ViolentMonkey with the Xenforo Invis-Text Multi-Reveal script and make a minor edit to the script to enable it here.

So, I followed you from SB to SV. You were, explicitly, the impetus in late 2015 for my making an account on that site. I did that because the rule you supposedly broke did not cover your behavior at the time, and the SB mods changed that rule retroactively rather than admit their own wrongdoing. You were in the right there, and did not deserve what happened to you. In the face of such blatantly unjustified revisionism the sensible response was to find someplace with more consistent moderation.

Regardless of my thoughts on the trans topic in general, this is not the case here. You broke a forum rule, one already laid out, one that said forum at least partly exists over. The moderation wasn't capricious, wasn't revisionist, was quite justified by their own rules. I'm going to miss your story updates, because this ragequit isn't one I'm willing to follow you on. It's not in the same spirit as the SB-to-SV transition, I feel. I've had an account here for a while, for my loathsome porn habits, but this account won't be following your story thread.

Good times were had, and I'm going to regret not seeing how one of the only DC properties I read as a kid is brought to life in your story, but this is goodbye from me. I'll miss your updates.

Fucking hell though, I won't miss most of the community. You people drive my blood pressure right up.

No, you're right. I did break the forum rules. The fact that that rule is stupid is irrelevant to the fact that I broke it. I came here because I don't think I'd be able to post the rest of this episode there, and because I don't want to post under that rule set. It wasn't due to the rule being enforced unfairly.

I suggest you read the Supreme Court decision in Shuttlesworth v. City of Birmingham.

There is no moral responsibility to follow bad regulations, even if those regulations are enforced correctly.

The worst part of moving to a new site is grabbing a decently high resolution favicon.ico to add works I like to my start menu. I could probably restart Pokemon Nephri here with a new player base and do it better than the original. And maybe this time, it would be permissible by the rules, at least in the NSFW section, to explain what's under Nephri's skirt.
Anyways, welcome to QQ, Zoat. May your writing remain prolific.

So... popular re-quest, you reckon?
It would be a reboot/remake rather than a replay, since the world was alive and things happened outside the players' input. So from the very first few votes, Nephri's actions would probably change the plot, some character development I already had would be re-established somewhat differently, and from there it would be off the rails because I never had rails, just actors with motivations in the world.

Shuttlesworth applied specifically to governmental entities, and SV is blessedly nothing like one of those. Too, it applied to legal responsibilities. The Supreme Court is not and, with luck, will never be in the business of rendering judicial opinion on moral permissiveness, merely on matters of legal import.

Are you sure that's not just caused by too much salt? :p
Partly, yeah. My username is intended to be ironic :p

Soo... Shouldn't a ring scan be able to tell if his body is real or not?

And as far as I remember of Dial for Hero, nope, you can't get stronger by training. Otherwise the evil split would have done just that.

Training however can make the new hero more used to his powers.

I'm assuming that should be 'evil split'.

The evil entity created had true super strength. He might have been able to pump up if he had super resistant weights, but I doubt that he would have felt the inclination. Mr Hamill would just need heavy weights. Any work he put in would vanish when he got his original body back, but any muscle he gained in his transformed state would stay for as long as the state did.

This is obviously true, and just as obviously not my point. I didn't suggest you read the opinion because I thought you misunderstood the LAW. I recommended it because it questions your assessment of the morality of Zoat's actions in this situation.

A large part of the discussion in the Shuttlesworth opinion is whether or not, recognizing that the authorities were in the wrong, the arrestees had a responsibility to obey them anyway.

No, they didn't. Neither does Zoat need to feel bad about breaking oppressive and chilling rules, or stick around because they administered their bad rules fairly.

I wonder if FontAwesome works here.
, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , .
Looks like. :D
Now will it emojify my symbols (please no).
♠♣♥♦★
Sweet. Does it emojify symbols in FontAwesome?

Great.

Speaking to the subject purely on a literary (and not real world) level, I have to admit to being amused by readers aghast at Paul's "insensitivity" to trans issues.

The character is a self-righteous asshole. He's always been presented as a self-righteous asshole. He steadfastly refuses to refer to people by the names they've adopted, believing that their legal birth name is the only one that counts. He believes that his opinion on every subject is the only one that matters, including his opinion on who someone is and the correct way to address them.

That Paul carries this over into gender pronouns seems completely in-character to me; I'd find the contrary a bit odd.

Well, there's your problem.

Eh, the Dial H comic was written by China Mieville, who I'd consider a damn good writer.

Inasmuch as it's 99% off doing its own thing, like an old-school Vertigo comic, I wouldn't smear it with the general Flashpoint brush.

No offense to QQ intended, this story just aint written for dark-on-bright.

Yeah, that's one of the things I dislike about stories with a lot of colored text, that they assume a specific color scheme. While I prefer Flexile Dark myself, there are stories here that are similarly unreadable to me using that, because they assume a dark-on-bright background.

Made an account here for this. I hope QQ's servers don't melt from the increased traffic.

"Become a bloke..? For superpowers?" She looks both of us in the eyes. "You seriously want..?" We nods, and she rolls her eyes. "No, because if it's that easy to give someone powers I could probably work it out myself."

It totally is, and I'm ashamed of paul for not just whipping out a vial of danner formula on the spot to remind her.
Where's the super-drug-dealer that we all know and love?

I'm fairly sure this was brought up earlier, but I wasn't following - what is stopping Paul from biosculpting the victim back to being male? There should be genetic samples and recordings available to easily reconstruct his body and transform his body into that shape.

Basically what it said in the update. They don't know if there's some mad science trap in place just in case someone tried that.
