With This Ring (Young Justice SI) (Thread Fourteen)

SJW shit is totalitarianism, not common decency.
We can have this argument when the thread ISN'T brand new. But no, wanting people to be referred to as who they are isn't totalitarianism. So called "SJWs" are almost always the ones calling for LESS restrictions on people, such as the right of gay or poly people to marry, or trans people to be legally considered their actual gender rather than birth sex. There are very few people on the left calling for totalitarianism, but a lot of people on the right calling for it and a lot of people on the right claiming people on the left are calling for it.

It seems this place is a rat's nest of wrong opinions though. Honestly, this place being awful is far more likely to make me quit the story than Zoat's opinion was.

Again, if this is "politics" then so is your post.

For me, it'd depend on the severity of PMS the particular gender bent body suffered, and whether or not the superpowers did anything to ameliorate the symptoms. I've heard horror stories.

Also, did anyone else notice that Zoat posted a direct link to QQ in SV, and the mods left it alone?

Hey Zoat If you ever would like move away from here as well there is Dark Lord Potter Forums. Just in case.

Stories written there are not really meant to be read by the public, but rather meant to be reviewed so they can be edited before they are published elsewhere, You also cant read the work by authors section if you are not a member.

Hey guys, let's talk about the story!

Not, like, one of the few things that would get a mod in here? Please?

Arguments about the whole SV deal can be taken to rants, PMs, or literally anywhere else than this thread!
Helps to provide an alternate topic in specific, which is why I brought up what'd decide things for me on genderbending for superpowers.

Of course, I already know your answer, or have enough information to inform a guess.

"You're very strong, but you don't quite meet the threshold for being superstrong."

Mr Hamill wrinkles her nose. "Okay, so, am I bullet proof?"
And that's the first place his mind goes?

Since you've got some sort of electrical power, you might be more electrically resistant that usual."

"Dema-?" Her eyes widen. "You think that fuckin' thing killed me?"
Tactful as ever, OL...

"If I had a sample of your DNA and a few more pictures, I might be able to transform you back into you… But there would be risks, and I'd really feel better about it if we could have a look at the dial first."
Still leery of messing about with brains, eh?

Well, that was an interesting conversation... Methinks Beryl's glad of the interruption.

(If you've any advice concerning the formatting, let me know, I'm happy to change it up.)

You're not perma-banned on SB. No reason not to circle back around and keep it going there. The only reason not to would be going full Vegeta, and you know what they say about that...
I'm not perma-banned on SB either, but I'd never go back there. I'd have to go back to operating under their nonsense rules again. And you can bet mods would be hovering over the thread with a banhammer.

The only way I'd go back to SB is if I got a retraction of the original ban.

I'd need to check what superpowers, but broadly speaking, the answer is yes.

On another note, anyone know which members of the Light are still alive in the Paragon continuity?

...and, for that matter, how long it's going to be before Paul takes a swing at the rest of them? I mean, Renegade cleaned them up several arcs ago...

The problem was that they censored discussion at all, not which side they censored.
I'll definitely agree with you there.

I'm firmly in favour of people being pronouned with whatever gender they want (as long as they do their part in appearing to be that gender or at least wearing a t-shirt describing their preferred pronoun), and also in favour of lawmakers who pass stupid bathroom gender laws having to share public bathrooms with people who convincingly appear to be of the opposite gender, but the minute I'm not allowed to laugh at one side is the minute I stop taking that side seriously.

Flight, super toughness, and shapechangi... I'd want to be Mr. Jerking, the Porn Star Martian. If the USA kicked me out, fine, I'd move to Canada. They have a porn industry as well.

EDIT: Yeah, if he finds out that Boss Smiley is in the Light, that's a successful assassination against him they pulled off, and they all need to be annihilated in response.

So... Any reason why Zatana didn't use the sympathetic connection between Thee who Radically changed form and the dial? It seems like that would be something that would leave some form of resonance.

(hoping this isn't actually the story-only thread)

Welcome to QQ, Zoat. It's a bit bittersweet, because while I'm sure lots of us are glad to be free of SV, it's still sort of the end of a era, and the start of a new one. And it caused no small amount of trouble for you.

I commend you for sticking to your ideals, no matter the adversity you face. And I want you to know that whatever your un-revealed opinions or what-have-you, I think I've seen enough of you to know that you're a good person, whether I agree with you or not.

I don't think this is the story-only, it's thread 14.

Here's hoping for less Executive Veto's over here.

SJW shit is totalitarianism, not common decency.
Yeah, I agree with a lot of social justice things, but I am sick and tired of the god damn temper tantrums and shit stirring that comes with SJW shit whenever someone is not 100% woke enough.

On another note, anyone know which members of the Light are still alive in the Paragon continuity?
We have a two year old starting point, although one question then becomes whether Satanus is out of the picture for good or not. We know that Klarion is permanently dealt with, at least.

The only way I'd go back to SB is if I got a retraction of the original ban.
But you did the unforgivable sin of questioning why someone would continue to call themselves a rebellion when they were the legitimate government! Such spoilers!!!

Depends on what you mean by "allowed". The only reason that free speech works is that it explicitly allows both the expression of an idea AND the condemnation of that idea by others, both are free speech. So if by "not allowed", you mean "not legally allowed", then sure. If you mean "people will call me an asshole if I laugh at those people", then get over it, that's the point.

Does anyone remember what episode the immigration department wanted Pauls help in ousting the porn martian?

Mod introduction + Reminder of Rule 8
Edit: this message is awaiting moderator approval? Weird. Kinda looks like it's just me? I don't know what I did...

The first post is mod approve locked to battle the vile forces of SPAM-BOT prime.

"SJW shit" being code for "common decency"... I don't want to start shit here so soon after the move, so I'm not going to get into a big argument here like I normally might, but I feel you've left me no choice but to address it somewhat, as I will at any time someone uses the phrase "SJW" negatively. The problem was that they censored discussion at all, not which side they censored. Zoat was unambiguously in the wrong, but I think it should have been resolved by everyone shaming him for his wrong opinion, not by banning the voicing of the wrong opinion in the first place. That's how free speech is supposed to work.

I'm not sure if my post counts as "politics", but if it does, then yours should too assuming no mod bias, given that you're the one who brought up the idiotic phrase "SJW" to begin with.

Hello, this is ye olde friendly mod reminder.

Since you're new on the site please be aware that QQ does have a no current day politics thing. And gender politics does count for such.

Posting stories where stuff like politics happen because they're part of a story and not a soapbox platform to expound on politics from, is fine... but discussions of current day politics isn't.

Honestly, I'd probably just stop writing.
While I certainly disagree with a number of your decisions concerning your story, and "you spent X time on this already, quitting would be a shame" is an example of sunken cost fallacy in general, I would still encourage you to think of other potential solutions. Moving back to SB (which is likely to provide you the greatest amount of readers and most feedback out of the three sites in this community's orbit) is certainly one option, while making your own forum is another (albeit a worse one, I believe, in terms of getting the story to the viewers). Ultimately, the question is "why do you want to tell the story" and "do you want to tell the story?".

I am not aware of your ban history on SB, but, from reading your story, I can't, at the moment at least, find parts that would be ban-worthy on SB, and, as such, moving it back there could certainly be done.

Okay, one thing I will not hold against SV: the default interface colors. Most emotion colors, especially fear-yellow, show up terribly on this. I have to highlight it just to read it at all. No offense to QQ intended, this story just aint written for dark-on-bright.

So:

Anyone coming over who wants to make the story colors more readable, hover over your username at the top of the page, like seen here:

Pick a new color scheme as desired by clicking this drop down list, and clicking a option (I think I prefer 'Flexile Dark', but just about anything with 'dark' in the name works fine):

And finally, hit "Save Changes" at the bottom to finish it:

This will lock in the changes, and you can go and change it again at any time if you'd like. Enjoy having a color balance more suited to the Emotional Spectrum!

Zoat's title under his avatar is "Dedicated Ragequitter" for a reason.

I mean, just saying.

About the only forums I can think of that would be open for Zoat to move to after this (though I can't imagine Zoat getting pinged here for anything, really) would be DLP (Dark Lord Potter, not just HP stuff), or possibly ResetEra... don't know if they have a fiction forum, but it might be worth a shot.

There's AO3, but that's not really a forum. Does have some degree of threaded discussion on each chapter, at least?

Oh that works much nicer. I'm on QQ a lot, and just got used to the default. I wonder what that YJ Diary story would read like with this font.
