Of course Jaune saved the cat faster than he did Tats. The cat is more adorable than her, refugee from Wildbows Grim World of Mean Girls and Mid Looks that she is.

Agreed. It's nice to have a universe where people try and help each otherI hope that Jaune and Lisa stick around in this universe much longer than other. Lots to learn and such, includimg basic humanity given Lisa came from grimderp world
I think jaunes gonna have more fun in this world once he gets a better weapon or an upgrade
Jaune is finally among his people."Both."
She quirked a delicate eyebrow. "Bold of you." Stupid of you, she probably intended. "Any reason?"
Jaune gave a shrug.
"I dunno. Two monsters translate to twice the reward, I guess."
As one, the Hunters spun towards him, fingers pointing.
"""You're a genius!"""
Tattletale's smile grew stiff.
I think it was implied it something in the food that everyone eats that gives everything, including the human, increased strength. So if they eat enough good meals, and get a build up of what every it is in their system, then Jaune and Lisa with both benefit from it.If they can get Academy City tech to decode the genome of at least one monster of the Monster Hunter world, then maybe they can boost their physical strength even further?
Don't forget Monster Hunters get to kill godlike beings so yeah...Huntsmen and huntresses: We fight for survival.
Hunters: We fight for sport! And survival too, I guess.
-‐---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
RWBY: W-who are you?
Monste Hunter: I'm everything you tried to be and failed.
I wonder how Jaune would react to the pokemon world, which is the absolute antitesis to every single aspect of his own world.
So, what would be the antitesis of Lisa's world?
You'd think a titanite-enhanced, Aura-infused blade would be doing just fine here. Ah well, fun fight, and Vomit Boy's making some fire-forged friends.I think jaunes gonna have more fun in this world once he gets a better weapon or an upgrade
Well, Jaune's sword is better pick against tad smaller enemies, like humanoids of about his size or somewhat larger Grimm. The monster hunter weapons are better suited for hacking away at huge dinosaurs by design. You'd think a titanite-enhanced, Aura-infused blade would be doing just fine here. Ah well, fun fight, and Vomit Boy's making some fire-forged friends.
It just struck me that for someone with a severe case of motion sickness (V1-3 Jaune) Vomit Boy isn't doing much vomiting while figuring out how to move around in 3D on the fly.Ah well, fun fight, and Vomit Boy's making some fire-forged friends
There was also a touch of it in the finale of V7. Jaune resting his hands and chin atop Crocea Mors' pommel with his eyes closed. A moment of restful respite, or focus on keeping his lunch down? I find the latter funnier. It just struck me that for someone with a severe case of motion sickness (V1-3 Jaune) Vomit Boy isn't doing much vomiting while figuring out how to move around in 3D on the fly.
He probavly woild chastised the sheer casualties rates of Survey Corps and carelessness/uselessness of other Corps and the govt itself for not, well, find ways to minimised it. Like, i doubt Hunters and Huntress died by the droves like the Survey Corp does in each Grimm incursion, and they were less organised/more solo than the Survey Corp. Also, speaking of this setting being both really familiar and antithesis to his home I wonder how would a setting like Attack on Titan feel to him?
IIRC, Jaune does worse in enclosed spaces and okay with fresh air.It just struck me that for someone with a severe case of motion sickness (V1-3 Jaune) Vomit Boy isn't doing much vomiting while figuring out how to move around in 3D on the fly.
I mean, there was the whole negative balance to deal with first, and the world's are random. As much as a love the character writing, and it is great, I have to ask: when are we going to get anywhere? Like character growth and power wise. Because we are now 30 chapters and on our sixth world and we have at best two utility upgrades to show for it. Like everything has done nothing to actually increase his abilities. He has killed monsters, faced down apocalyptic beasts (Leviathan), and fought a being closer to a god then a person (accelerator is considered tier 8 by the very system you are using here, higher than many actual gods). But for all of that he still seems barely better than when he set out.
If they can get Academy City tech to decode the genome of at least one monster of the Monster Hunter world, then maybe they can boost their physical strength even further? Aura enhances what's already there after all.
Yup, it's the food. Monster Hunter World introduced the concept of Bioenergy in the game to explain the absurd vitality of the monsters and the biomes.I think it was implied it something in the food that everyone eats that gives everything, including the human, increased strength. So if they eat enough good meals, and get a build up of what every it is in their system, then Jaune and Lisa with both benefit from it.
That they are geniuses beyond compare! Heh.Jaune is finally among his people.
....I am not sure what that says about Hunters.
It's a strange thing that, sometimes, just by being in control of the motion of a car, the motion sickness can disappear. Maybe it's because by knowing what's about to happen we would instinctively brace for the changes. It just struck me that for someone with a severe case of motion sickness (V1-3 Jaune) Vomit Boy isn't doing much vomiting while figuring out how to move around in 3D on the fly.

For all of his travels, all he has really gained is the third arm ability and a hammer space. I mean the last 2 worlds gave nothing at all in the way of actual boosts. Yes he got his flight boots, but lets be realistic they are not a real help. He is a tank, a sword and board fighter, not an aerial combatant. Anything they add is done (better) by his third arm. They are a minor movement boost with a list of limitations.
Then there is Dark Souls, which seems to be the spot with some real upgrades, but honestly after that fight I do not see it. Lets take a baseline for a minute. In RWBY, before receiving any training, he and his weapons were able to block an ursa major. Without a scratch. That creature is depicted as around twice his size (and he is 6'1"). That makes it half again bigger than even the largest bear at minimum. Bears can fold full steel doors. He then, cleanly, beheads the thing in a single strike. The French invented the guillotine because it is difficult to behead a human cleanly. Even with a two handed weapon, against a small neck, in perfect position a clean beheading was uncommon. The Ursa's neck was massive and he was using a single handed sword. Basically the baseline penetrative power of Crocea Mors is not unimpressive. Then it was supposed to be upgraded in Dark Souls but still cannot do more than scratch the most recent monster. Was that upgrade worthless? These are upgrades meant to bring normal weapons up to hurt gods and wound the immortal stone scales of ancient dragons, yet he is glancing off of the Rathalos. So that sword upgrade seems to have done nothing. Combine that with the talismans/skills he cannot use and weapons he does not use and we have yet another dud world.
Which leaves basically just Dishonored where he got third arm, a utility upgrade. Yes it is helpful, all maneuverability is, but again he is a sword and board tank. It will not help his main style of fighting. Give this to someone like Blake and it is a major upgrade, as it help the more acrobatic hit and run style of combat she uses. But for Jaune? It is a nice movement option, but not a true power upgrade.
And I do understand that this can come across as just a complaint that the main character isn't power fantasying hard enough. Plus I get that balancing can be hard, especially with something catalog adjacent. This genre is infamous for how easy it is to power fantasy off and escalate out of control. So I do understand the desire to try and not do that. To err on the side of caution and limit how much he gets and how easy it may be for him to use that which he does gain, but it is really starting to feel like an overcorrection.
Part of the hero's journey is their own growth, just as the world expands into something new and unknown so to does the hero grow to meet it. But Jaune seems to be standing still. I mean look at all of his recent worlds. He played backup to Solaire, then he was a side character to the Accelerator (a barely necessary one at that), and now what? Is he going to be the distraction for the hunters? Jumping up and down for the monsters attention while they do the actual work? Because sop far that's what he has been. What happens in the next world? Does he play backup again there as well? How are we ever expected to believe he can survive, let alone be of use, in a higher danger setting when he is a side piece in the current ones and he gains nothing from plane after plane? When is Jaune allowed to be the hero in his own story? To take the steps down the path towards saving his home? To actual be better and get stronger?
And again, I do get that it is a hard balance with the catalog. It can snowball so quickly when you give a character access to the multiverse and how powers can stack. That unless you make the character unreasonably stupid it can be difficult to justify them not just growing out of control. So I can see why you would be hesitant to give solid power ups. But man we are over 30 chapters and over 200k words in. That is two full novels in and he is still waiting on the first real power up. That is not slow burn, that is glacial.
You do such a great job with these characters and their interactions. You really have done an amazing job bringing them to life, I just wish you would let them actually grow.
Speaking of growth: What's his current dick size, and when does he get to add a couple of inches? Are you thinking in terms of Jaune's growth, or a nebulous mix of genre conventions that establishes a baseline and an expectation in your mind of what growth is?
But, by putting the label of 'flesh and blood creatures' and 'monsters' on them instead of 'godbeasts' and 'starspawns', they're apparently now of a lower Tier. An arbitrary ranking system shifts the threat that foes pose in the various different settings, creating a scenario where a character that has scratched a higher Tier must now keeping going higher, never returning to a lower Tier, even if context would suggest it is not lower at all and that the settings exist irrespective of each other. In short, power fantasy escalation takes place.
I kinda get what he means sure jaune gained some new powers but nothing that helps directly to achieve the long term goal of getting Solutions for remnant or worm
It's called a LONG TERM GOAL for a reason. If Jaune got the power to kill the Grimm Dragon in just six world jumps, when functionally he has near infinite amount of jumps, then it wouldn't be called a long term goal.
Homeboy killed a WC contractor and fought an Endbringer within the first few chapters. He's actually going to need to have a few inches removed.Speamiyof growth: What's his current dick size, and when does he get to add a couple of inches?
Bazinga.
Hopefully Jaune's sponsor gives him the porn powers for no reason and without explaination. I need Tats to grow increasingly intimidated about Jaune'e growing schlong.Speamiyof growth: What's his current dick size, and when does he get to add a couple of inches?
Bazinga.
Intimidated? Nah, Tats need to be wet.I need Tats to grow increasingly intimidated about Jaune'e growing schlong.
