Incidentally, a good means of generating stories and producing some plot hooks would have been Team RNJR(Y) going around and meeting up with various side characters who had survived Vytal. Catch up with them, find out things, and do some sidequests.

Thinking about it a bit, the Brothers gods have never really learned anything in their entire existance have they?

Originally they were just simple Afterans who used to simply maintain the Ever After and nothing more, but became stronger and increasingly confrontational with each other's acts of creation and destruction, causing imbalance, which they continually tried to forcefully correct, causing even more damage in the process.
After causing way too much damage, the Tree "gave" them the ability to leave the Ever After and explore their abilities without doing further harm (aka, the Tree put them in time-out until they could do the job they were created for).
They left, but never fixed anything about the flaws in their creations, which would become increasingly problematic for everyone in Ever After, and they abandoning them forever (even after they left Remnant and could have just returned).
Learning nothing from their past mistakes, the Brothers would repeat these errors by giving only two extreme options (when other options would have been possible) onto a grieving Salem and an unwitting Ozma, leading to their conflict lasting to the present day in a battle that is threatening all of Remnant's denizens long after the Gods abandoned their creations once again.

Their constant squabeling have caused nothing but problems and pain for everyone involved, including their own creations who had no choice in the matter how they got created, and instead of learning and growing, they have become increasingly shittier over time, becoming gigantic hypocrites and assholes (with Light ironically being worse than Dark).

Amusingly enough, Carnival Phantasm FGO edition has Arturia and Nero interacting, and by 'interacting' I mean Arty reminds Nero who the face of the Type-MOON franchise is and calls her a 'franchisee' while they're trying to knock each other's blocks off.

Everyone looking at John Lionheart thinking he's the evil brother for being ugly and pocketing money, while having an interest in Arslan only for making money from sponsorships would be the Ultimate false flag to distract people from Leo getting Oz inner circle in Mistral killed by Hazel and Tyrian

For Hazel Since Jaune is a trained Medic/the team's doctor, tells it that the fact that he can't feel pain is his greatest weakness, as he has no way of knowing how much damage his body parts are accumulating until they're so injured that they simply stop responding altogether. Hazel can eventually beaten by first crippling his arms or legs and then shattering his spine, leaving the hypocrite laying on the ground wondering why he can't move. [Stolen from One Piece]

With Doctor Knowall he can go full Batman vs the Mutant or Kenshiro and even say (お前はもう死んでいる "Omae wa mou shindeiru") since he's got Fujin heritage

Spoiler: God of Darkness on Salem, Ozma and his Brother

Salem, the woman that offered herself as his first worshiper all but ruled the world's future in shadow. The downfall of man was inevitable. Even guaranteed, despite his brother cheating him again.

Fury filled the God of Darkness, the pool beneath him rippling malevolently filled with the Umbral energy of primordial chaos.

He regretted the childish feeling of betrayal he felt when his brother had informed him that Salem had approached the God of Light before him for the resurrection of her lover. In hindsight, of course she'd have approached his brother first. That was simply how it went. Why had he been so short sighted to agree to curse his only potential subject?

His brother's damned manipulations had only worked because he loved and trusted his Brother.

It was natural. That's how it should have been, but it was clear now his Brother loved the humans' worship more than he loved his fellow God.

Salem had been cursed with eternal life only so that she'd see the folly of usurping the natural order. Once she'd understood the weight of her mistake a century or two later, should she have come to apologize she'd have been allowed to pass and join her beloved in the afterlife.

It was never meant to end the way it did.

But even thinking back on those series of events filled his dark heart with fury.

How dare his brother remind and chide him of the sanctity of the order of life and death and then send the Hero Ozma back into the land of the living again and again?! The barest of loopholes, that he wasn't given his own living form was the one reason that the God of Darkness could not personally step in and intervene at this point.

The whole series of events left the God of Darkness with deepest regret.

Gods too were not perfect. He and his brother were younger then, and he now had more time to reflect without childish anger. But even now his brother's heart, so filled with Light was so rooted in his own sense of justice that he blinded himself to the truth.

Ha. How so like Light.

However a God could not take back their words.

But his brother, the God of Light, made one mistake.

He gave Ozma four Relics. Objects filled with the God of Light's Divinity. Even created a line of Silver Eyed Warriors to weigh the scales in his favor for his believed eventual return to Remnant.

His brother broke the rules first. It was only fair then, that HE played his own tricks.

Yang Xiao-Long, Blake Belladonna, and Weiss Schnee were too close to Ruby for anything else.

A cat that did nothing but run and was rewarded for running at almost every turn while she lashed out to those that would help her. A beauty in white that lived a life of abuse by a male authority, but then when complaining to the male authorities at the school where she had run away to, simply obeyed without question, making her own rebellion ultimately pointless.

Fah.

Jaune Arc was no gem, but he was malleable. He lacked drive and passion in his teenage years, but as a child… now that was a boy that was only filled with dreams and bursting with passion.. but those dark, jealous, YEARNING embers were smothered by his own parentage.

Had a fun idea of Nora accidentally becoming richer than Weiss by fucking with her.

I'm imagining her holding a dust crystal and putting her aura in and out of it. Pretending like she's gonna set off a explosion.

Push the aura in, suck it out, over and over.

Until she sucks a bit too much and the dust crystal starts shaking.

Thinking that maybe she was actually about to set off a explosion Nora Yeets the crystal at a Grimm.

Where the now magicless crystal that was about to start sucking from the atmosphere instead sucks up the Grimm and makes a new dust type.

Suddenly Nora is considered a fucking genius and a revolutionary. Finally all those used up useless dust crystals have a use!

Eat shit Jacques you're gonna make a whole lot less money when everyone is getting extra uses out of the crystals.

And who knows what you can do with Grimm dust?

"You may go," Ironwood said, turning his eyes back to his computer. About ten seconds later, he glanced back up: Penny was still there, looking... Anxious.

"Is there something wrong, Penny?" He asked, not unkindly.

A gentle frown came over her face.

"Not wrong, General Ironwood. However, I am experiencing unusual sensations and I am unsure of how to process them. I was hoping you might be able to assist me?"

It was something Ironwood took pride in. That Pietro had told her, unprompted, that he could be trusted.

Granted, Penny's personhood was still... A bit difficult for Ironwood to really believe, but if she had an actual soul, it was hard to argue against it.

"Very well. What can I do for you?" Ironwood asked, a bit more gently this time.

Penny nodded.

"Many of my runtimes are being devoted to a friend I have recently made, in addition to Friend Ruby. My fluid pump works faster when I am near him. And I wish to unleash Primary Array when he is near other women, despite my directives to not harm non-criminal or enemy humans." She tilted her head. "May I ask what the reasons behind this are?"

Ironwood was silent. He blinked. He blinked again.

Don't tell me Pietro gave her the ability to feel romantic attraction, he thought to himself, holding in a groan.

"Which young man are you experiencing these... Things... Around?" Ironwood managed.

"Friend Jaune! Jaune Orleans Arc, Student ID 32203, Freshman!" Penny chirped brightly, projecting a holographic image of an awkwardly smiling blond young man. Ironwood winced.

"Son of Nicholas and Isabel Arc?"

"Yes!" Penny chirped, "How did you know?"

Of course his son would be the one she gets a crush on, Ironwood mentally sighed. Out loud he said:

"I am familiar with them."

"Is this the result of some kind of latent Semblance affect?" Penny asked, worried, "Is he an enemy agent seeking to compromise my functions?"

"Unlikely," Ironwood said dryly, "Access human romantic relationships."

"There is a block put on there by my father-"

"You are authorized to bypass said lock," Ironwood said firmly. Penny's eyes glowed and darted about as she processed the information. She blushed.

"Oh. My."

Ironwood nodded.

"As for your feelings... My suggestion is to be open and honest about things with this young man. The worst he can say is no."

"What happens if he says no?" Penny asked, looking worried. Ironwood sighed.

"It will be... Disappointing. It may even hurt your feelings. But you will recover from it, and find another who is more receptive to your feelings," he said. "But you should be straightforward about things with him. Humans tend to hide their emotions and that makes things much more difficult than if they were simply honest."

"Then why do humans lie and deceive?" Penny asked.

"For many reasons," Ironwood stated, "Fear, to protect themselves, to avoid facing things they do not wish to face. It is a complicated subject." He offered her the tiniest of smiles. "However, in this case, it is a binary decision. Either he accepts your feelings and you begin a relationship, or you do not."

Penny nodded with a smile.

"Thank you, sir. May I be excused?"

"You may," Ironwood said, and the gynoid turned and hurried out of the office. He let out a sigh.

It had been a very long time since he himself was young. He'd chosen his career, his duty, over anything like romance. But he wasn't an idiot about it, and the simplest explanations tended to work with Penny. It would be a learning experience for her-Perhaps a vital one. Especially if she was rejected.

Of course, if they did begin a relationship, well... He would leave that to Pietro to work out. He had done more than enough.

Jaune Arc was relaxing under a tree with the rest of JNPR. Pyrrha was reading a comic, one Jaune had recommended. Nora was playing a video game on her Scroll, and Ren was meditating. It was nice and peaceful under the clear blue sky.

A peace disrupted when Penny Polendinia marched up to them, her eyes bright and focused. Jaune looked up with a smile.

"Hey Penny! What's up?"

"Do you find me attractive?" Penny asked. Jaune blinked. Pyrrha's jaw dropped. Nora and Ren looked up in some shock, though more Ren than Nora.

"Uhhh... I-I mean-"

"Do you like spending time with me?" Penny pressed. Jaune blinked.

"I mean, we haven't done a lot of that but yeah?"

"Sensational!" Penny said. She reached down and pulled him up, making him yelp, "You are now my boyfriend!!"

"What?!" Pyrrha gasped. Ren raised an eyebrow. Nora grinned.

"Wow! So direct!"

Jaune went bright red as Penny began to drag him off.

"Wait, I didn't-!"

"We are going on a date, boyfriend!" She beamed. "And if it goes well, we will kiss! Is that acceptable?"

"I mean, I don't-"

"YES OR NO?"

"YES!" Jaune squeaked.

"SENSATIONAL!" Penny cheered. "Let us commence dating now, boyfriend!"

I can make it SO much worse.

Since they aren't the origin of the power the daughters version is weaker. So instead of of eventually taking over and fusing with the host they're in a Yu-Gi-Oh situation.

A voice in the back of the head unless they're willingly given temporary control.

And why make this worse?

Salem isn't even aware that she's using one of her daughters as a tool because cinder keeps the daughter she's fused to basically locked in the back of her brain.

Vale, Warehouse District. Irene Arc was handcuffed to a chair, being leaned over an open chute into the incinerator. A gangster, flanked by his goons, chuckled as he stood in front of Irene.

Big Jim: "You thought you could outwit me, Big Jim? I've survived crackdowns and Hunters and vigilantes! Some little strumpet snooping around, what do you think you're gonna do?"

Irene: "Pl-Please, I was just asking some questions-Don't-!"

Big Jim laughs.

Big Jim: "Yeah, sure. Asking about 'Atlasian Hardware'. You think I'm stupid?"

Irene: "M-My cousin just said I could ask around... He's with Altas's Defense Force-"

Big Jim: "HA! Bet he works under Saravick, that sneak! He sold me all the equipment and arms I want just to keep his gambling going! But he don't know shit! I'm the big smuggler! Every shipment someone wants to bring in, they go through me!"

Irene: in fear "Y-You mean... The Paladin?"

Big Jim: "HA! Just one Paladin? I've got a whole fleet of them! It's gonna be quite a show when they go off-"

One of the goons shoots a gun at Qrow... It explodes in his hand and he falls back.

Irene: How is whatever you're saying more important than this? He is literally giving me everything."

Big Jim: "Wha-What the hell do you mean everything?!"

Irene: rolls her eyes "You just gave me names and critical intel on your arms smuggling. Like an idiot."

Big Jim: "N-NO I DIDN'T!"

Qrow: "You totally were. But back to my original point-"

Big Jim: "RARR-!"

He charges Irene, who breaks out of the cuffs and the chair and handily blocks his punches before she leaps over him and slams him down, knocking him out. Qrow quickly knocks the last goons out with the flat of Harbinger. Irene grumbles.

Irene: "What's worth screwing up my mission, Qrow?"

Qrow: "Does it help I got their computer data?" Holds out a holochip

Irene: scowls... Takes it "A little. What's so important? Ozpin got another S-Rank threat? A Grimm Cult this time? Mad scientist?"

Qrow: "Your nephew is dating my niece."

Irene: "... Are you for real?! I already knew that!"

Qrow: "Yeah, yeah, I know."

Irene: "And let me guess, you want me to discourage them?"

Qrow: "Can you blame a guy for being confident?"

Irene: "Delusional is more the word I would use... Also? None of that terrible cologne I know you still have."

Qrow: "You gave me a gift that wasn't poison. I wasn't about to throw it away."

Irene: "It is, it just takes a very long time to kill you."

Qrow: "Heh..."

The two head out to root through the gangster's office.

Irene: hums "Though honestly, I had thought that Ruby would have gone for Jaune first. I suppose she needs to grow up a bit for him to complete the set."

Qrow: "That's not funny."

Irene: "Who said I was joking?"

Qrow: groans "Save me from blond himbos..."

So, I kind of want to flesh out Irene and Qrow's relationship. Qrow was built up as this badass secret agent who did secret missions for Ozpin and was one of the most powerful and skilled Huntsmen in the world. So by giving him a femme fatale, a female equal, you can flesh out his badass side as he has his own Catwoman. And explore the underworld of Remnant with both characters.

And for similar reasons to Batman and Catwoman, Irene and Qrow cannot be together. They'd have to give up too much of who they are to settle down together. Irene is an assassin who tries to kill evildoers and stop bad things from happening, Qrow is a Huntsman secret agent trying to stop Salem's machinations. Irene is far too independent to ever join with Ozpin's cabal, and Qrow is too loyal to Ozpin to ever strike out his own as an independent contractor like Irene. And neither of them could give up the good fight.

So they are friends and trust one another, and have been tempted to go past friends with benefits... But for various reasons they just can't.

I can make it SO much worse.

Since they aren't the origin of the power the daughters version is weaker. So instead of of eventually taking over and fusing with the host they're in a Yu-Gi-Oh situation.

A voice in the back of the head unless they're willingly given temporary control.

And why make this worse?

Salem isn't even aware that she's using one of her daughters as a tool because cinder keeps the daughter she's fused to basically locked in the back of her brain.

And this video highlights more than a few of the flaws that the RWBY show has (beyond the representation the video focuses on).
One big ones are how Pyrrha is a Satellite Character for Jaune (I love her character, but it's kinda true), how Yang kinda became a Satellite Character for Blake for shipping reasons, how Blake is constantly slapping Sun in the same volume where Jacques is established as abusive by slapping Weiss, the problems with Qrow and Clover relationship and the issue of retconning it away (give me my beautiful Bi drunk disaster uncle damnit), and how badly CRWBY really fumbeled the ball with the Blake and Yang relationship progression (and the video is made by a Bumbleby shipper).

Ideas:

- Blake should have kept her big bow, or at least some kind of bow in her outfit/hair somewhere, cause it was kinda unique and iconic to her early look.
It doesn't need to cover up her ears, but it would make her design more interesting than generic catgirl.

- Jaune is secretly an incredibly skilled forger and hacker, which is why he was able to falcify his application papers without anyone noticing, his fakes were just that convincing and his tracks just that well covered.

- When Jaune first meets Pyrrha, he recognises her.... from a kid beauty pagent that his sister was competing in and that Pyrrha won.
Pyrrha is both mortified and relieved, because it was incredibly embarrassing mess that went wrong for everyone and her first time preforming in any kind of public setting, but also that Jaune only know her from that and nothing else.

- Cinder has markings on her outfits that glow when she uses her Semblance, so couldn't others do the same, even if it requires them to have somewhat similar powers.
Yang has a somewhat similar fire-like Semblance, so could she not have markings on her outfit that glow when she activates her Semblance, or fill up the more it's charged up, giving a cool visual indicator on how strong it will be (it might not be really tactical, but the RWBY show doesn't have designs with super practicality in mind).
And if Yang's Semblance can absorb other things like in an other idea I posted previously, they might light up in a different colour.

- Some Semblances could really be used more creatively (including some of the main characters).

• Elm Ederne might be able to use her Aura Roots to "walk" on walls by rooting 1 foot in plance before taking a step with the other it might not be fast or efficient, but it can be useful for versitility ouside of combat, to set up an ambush/advantage, or getting to a hard to reach location), or jump against a wall root herself and then jump somewhere else.
• Ruby's Petal Burst can carry people or objects, creating powerful tailwinds, can go around objecs from 2 sides at once, and works by disassemble herself at a molecular level and reassemble elsewhere (but can somehow be kicked out of it , but it feels like they don't do a lot with that, and seems to forget aspects of her own Semblance.
  Ruby might be able to go through small openings, small pipes, grates or even keyholes if she can "squish" herself small enough, and she may also be able to use the whole tailwind aspect a more often.

- Some ideas for original Semblance powers, because they're supposed to be completely unique (or some are the same, but differ in both how they manifest) so sometimes those in canon don't feel nearly specific/specialised enough.

• Being able to walk on water/liquids, any liquid, though it doesn't protect them form side effects, like the heat from lava, cold from liquid nitrogen, any chemical reactions from things like acid, or the fumes that liquid may release.
  Rain however, is also liquid, so they can jump and bounce around at insane angles when it's raining.
• Coping other Semblances, but they might need to be close or touch the target first before they can use it, and there might be a limit how long they can hold on to that power (as long as the target is in range, as long as they're touching, or 5 minutes after touch, etc.).
  It could be very useful, but it doesn't come with the innate skill to use them as well as the original users, but it could be very effective by copying from allies, helping them out in their strenghts by doubling the field presence of that particular Semblance.
• Making bubbles, which could create "smokescreens" when creating a large enough quantity of them, get them in people's eyes to blind them, and making the ground slippery (and perhaps even weapons).
• Flowers (my 4 year old niece thinks "Flowers" is a great superpower she'd want, which she told me unpromted), so someone with a Flower Semblance might be able to create a "smokescreens" from flowerpetals, and maybe big flower petal wings to glide with.

- It's confremed in canon RWBY that some Semblances can be more handicaps than cool powers, like Qrow's bad luck, or Ironwood's strengthened his resolve and hyper-focus on an objective (doubling down, possibly on bad decisions, and gaining tunnel vision).
So what other kind ofdetremental or flawed Semblances could be out there?

• A prophecy Semblance although 100% accurate goes of randomly and gives visions of random futures about random people the "user" likely doesn't even know.
• An Invisibility Semblance that blinds the user when used, because light just travels through them, so their retina don't get any light to see with anymore.

They leave. Twenty minutes later... Jaune and Cardin come back in, both covered in bruises their Aura is healing. Cardin heads over with a wince to Mia, with Jaune walking just behind him with a glare.

Mia: "Papa! What did you do?" Frowns "Did you hurt him?"

Jaune: "No, no... We had a disagreement. But we sorted it out properly. Didn't we?"

Cardin: Wince "... Yeah. I'm... I'm sorry. I was... I was wrong."

Cardin heads off. Jaune sits down. Nora and Ruby happily play with Mia.

Blake: "... You could have beaten him into a coma."

Jaune: "I could have... But that wouldn't solve the problem. And... And I promised Katy I would be a good example for our daughter." deep breath "No matter how much I wanted to kill him or just beat him up... It wouldn't solve anything. So... We fought, we worked it out... He's going to do better..." Eyes glow "Or else."
