Tabitha without books is not Tabitha at all.

We're probably gonna want to go passive on most of the grail war at least, especially the end.

You are another year older. The final round of dreams is upon you. How do you view them?

Your mother and your other caretakers have begun tutoring you. What catches your interest?

I really like how you've handled the reincarnation. :)
I was getting tired of reincarnation quests due to all the grinding pre-main storyline (and the low likelihood of getting there before GM gets bored) and common incarnation settings/insert settings, but you've made this one interesting!

The votes are locked in at embracing the dreams, book-learnin', and wire-fu. As always, the update will come soon™.

The long delay was caused by me getting around to reading the English translation of Rewrite. If the story suddenly starts having Key-ish elements in it, that's why.

The dreams move on from the wintry castle into a new setting. You and Kiritsugu have spent many years preparing for this event; a war that takes place in the shadows. You will support him to the best of your ability until it comes time for you to fulfill the role you were created for.

In the meantime, you fully enjoy walking down the street like any normal pedestrian with the golden-haired servant called upon to aid your husband. There is nothing like your approaching demise to make you fully appreciate all of life's small wonders.

When battle comes, you are mostly a passive observer. You were not designed for combat, so you do little in the conflicts yourself. Saber is everything you and Kiritsugu could've hoped for. It makes you sad that she and Kiritsugu seem destined not to get along, and there isn't anything you can do about it.

Your husband's ruthless side is on full display in this shadow war. You wish for nothing more than for Kiritsugu to reach his ideal, so that he never has to stain his hands with blood again. His tactics prove effective, however, and eventually there is only one final opponent left. Before you succumb to the wellspring of energy flowing into you, you have a final conversation with him. He was searching for something in your husband, and clearly did not find it. You have faith to the very end that he will defeat the empty man in front of you. He knocks you unconscious before leaving for the final confrontation.

In an odd omnipresent state, you see your daughter held lovingly in your arms. From the core of your being, you wish for her safety- hoping beyond hope that your wish will carry onto whatever you become next. You pass on peacefully with that gentle image emblazoned into your mind.

Something clicks into place after the dream finishes. You settle more firmly into a certain pattern of thinking, and instinctive knowledge and experience flow into your subconscious mind. You don't think you'll have any more dreams of Irisviel.

When you wake, you throw yourself into crafting in a trance, remembered motions and exercises flowing naturally. Material is created in your cupped hands as you weave strands of energy from an imagined core of power. A wire outline of a tiny four-legged creature looks up at you, its head tilted sideways inquisitively. You stare back at it, still half-asleep. It dissolves into the air, and you blink sleepily.

"Hwah-?"

The mysterious glyphs engraved on the books your mother reads to you capture your imagination. Your determination to learn to read like your mother shows itself in the way you spend long hours in the library with and without your tutors. Any time you are discouraged with your rate of progress, you need only look at the rows of bookcases containing information you can't yet access to rekindle your fighting spirit. It could be considered unnatural the way you dive into reading, but without any children your own age around, this is the only thing you can do for fun.

Your intense concentration in your reading is broken when your mother comes to you with grave news. Her face is ashen, and her eyes are red from crying. She hugs you forcefully as further tears streak down her face. You can only return the hug, getting caught up in the mood as you also begin to cry. "M-mommy..?"

"Your father.. h-he's.." She struggles to get the words out. "..not coming home anymore.."

An icy hand seems to grip your heart as you listen. Even though you can feel the weight behind her words, they don't seem to properly process in your conscious mind.

"But.. he'll be back someday, right..?"

Your mother weeps harder, hugging you even more tightly to her breast.

"No.. he won't."

The rest of the day is a blur. You want to latch on to your mother, but she has to spend a lot of time planning the funeral, so you spend most of your time quietly reflecting. A somber air has descended on the castle, and it doesn't look like it'll leave any time soon.

Your father is gone. How do you mourn?

[ ] You feel depressed. He's gone.. and he's never coming back.
[ ] You feel angry. Why did this happen? What kind of world allows this?
[ ] You feel confused. Why won't da come home? You don't understand.
[ ] You feel shocked. This isn't real, is it?

What do you do in your free time?

[ ] Spend time with your mother in the castle.
[ ] Bug your mother about seeing new places, and meeting more people.
[ ] Spend time with the castle residents.
[ ] Work on your 'special talents.'

(GMNote: I apologize for killing off your dad, but I couldn't really see any way for you to affect that outcome. I can assure you you'll definitely have a say in the 'insanity potion' event. It could turn out better or worse.)

Right now, we should spend as much time with our mother to help her through this by simply being with her.

Charlotte has to much knowledge from her past life to nut understand what death means. I don't think either her nor Irisiveil would be likely go focus on anger. That means being sad.

I'm voting for spending time with mother both because it makes sense as a reaction to losing the other parent and because it gives us social practice.

You know what it means. The concept of 'death' is not unfamiliar to you. It makes you think back to your dream-self. So much was left unfulfilled because Irisviel was destined to die before she could witness the fruits of her labor. As your thoughts follow these depressing trails, the light in your red eyes dims slightly. You feel a morbid curiosity that wonders just how your father died. It was not an important detail to tell you; no doubt, your mother didn't wish to upset you.

You find out by listening to the servants surreptitiously; they talk a lot more when they don't know you're there, so you've taken to being stealthy around them when you want to hear them speak. Your father's body was brought back by the King, your uncle; he died in a hunting accident. You are at least happy that the servants seem to share your gloomy mood over the death of your father. It makes you not feel so alone.

To help combat your loneliness, you spend time with your mother like any child might cling to their remaining parent. You are upset at first when she seems to be brushing you off, but you realize it must be very hard for her to keep her composure as she tries to make the arrangements to bury her husband. You try to hold off for her sake- but the night before the funeral, you sneak into her room at night and crawl into bed next to her, seeking comfort. She holds you in her arms, shaking with quiet sobs while tears fall down your own face in a shared lament. There's only the two of you now, you reflect. You'll make sure you enjoy her presence as much as possible before the day comes when it won't be so anymore.

The day of the funeral mostly passes by in a daze; you remember looking blankly at the coffin with your father's remains, holding your mother's hand. The tears fall silently as you remember your father. You regain some of your focus by the end, enough to notice the other people who have attended.

Something has changed in the way the other nobles look at you and your mother, and it's not good. They know better than to say anything at such a somber event, but it is clear that it was only the fear and respect of your father that held them back from trying to use or remove you. You are only obstacles in their eyes. It makes you fear for the coming days.

The sad times don't last forever; the world moves on, and you drag yourself to move along with it. You are still sad, but you know you can't wallow in sadness or it will swallow you whole. You still have lessons with your mother, which you treasure more than ever, as well as further lessons with your tutors. Some of them seem to have dropped out, so you have less people available for your schooling, but for now, it makes no difference.

Your lessons are increasing in complexity. It's exhausting, and a lot of the subjects are just plain boring. How much time do you devote to your studies?

[ ] Study hard. A Princess needs to be educated.
[ ] Study in moderation. Breaks are necessary.
[ ] Study the minimum amount to get by. You have better things to do.

And what do you do with your remaining spare time?

[ ] Spend time with your mother.
[ ] Work on your 'special' talents.
[ ] Explore the castle.
[ ] Sneak out of the castle grounds.

Still a few years. I should mention it's not the only plot you'll face, even if you thwart it.

Gallian nobility are dicks.
