    They actually lost Asia due to a Grigori plot. The Vatican wouldn't have tossed out a Maiden of Twilight Healing just for healing a Devil, the local church was either turned, an inside agent, or a zealot.
     
    The stated reason for her exile is that with gods death the system that supports heaven is unstable and requires solid faith to be maintained. So things that shake that faith such as a gift from God healing the enemy of God are removed to keep things stable. It's likely that the Gregori was quietly encouraged to look for her given Azazels well known desire to study and look after gear weilders. It was just shit luck that a extremist group found her.
